Your QB did not get into the endzone this week. Neither did Dak Prescott. It happens. He threw for the 3rd most yards in the league. His connection with Odunze keeps building. It is not all bad.
Stop catastrophizing. We all have QB trauma. We are all scared that he is a bust. But for now he is decent. Not amazing. But you all need to be chill.

I’m sorry but using yards thrown as your metric for how the QB played is just dumb
I understand the main focus is Caleb (I even said a few comments about him) but my focus is starting to shift towards the defense. More specifically, our DL. Our expensive ass DL only had 3 pressures against Huntley. That’s an abomination and an absolute joke at the same damn time. Dayo and Grady are turning out to be horrible signings. A king Poles special.
Yeha I’m not trippin out over this too much. They got a bunch of defensive starters returning and the team was rested up after a BYE week with their backs against the wall playing desperate. This was all the makings of a trap game and our guys have surely gotten accustomed to 4 straight so they needed the punch in the mouth for the wake up call. Missing our guys definitely hurt on the defense but you can just tell no one was really locked in. How we respond vs CIN will show a lot if we have some fight.
I don’t think we lost because of Caleb. That’s just lazy analysis in my opinion. I think it’s also an issue we haven’t won a game because of him yet. I still think he will be a great franchise QB. That I can only say he’s had one good game through 7 games so far is an issue.
lol we are the dumbest fan base in the nfl
I’m not panicking but I’m also not rationalizing like this. Who gives a shit if he threw for the 3rd most yards with 70 of them coming in garbage time down 2 scores
And look at the points those other teams put up. Caleb couldn’t lead the team down for multiple TDs even though we started with the short field often.
We took a kick back deep and Caleb went 3 and out
Yeah cause that throw to DJ on fourth and goal with a clean pocket is inspiring so much fucking confidence right now
The freak out yesterday on here was pathetic. We’re still just aiming to be a .500+ team.
It comes down to penalties mostly false starts and not being able to score a touchdown in the red zone. Some is on Caleb, some is on play calling down there, some is not being able to run there.
I mean, it’s different groups of fans who become the loudest every week depending on whether we win or lose. It’s not like it’s the same people flip flopping every week lol.
The pessimistic fans come out in force after a loss and the optimistic fans just take a break and leave reddit for a while. When we win, the optimistic fans come in and celebrate together while the pessimistic fans leave for a while.
Unfortunately the way reddit works with upvotes and such, recent events are going to dictate what gets upvoted the most and what gets down voted.
I’m giving him till season 3….
Man this feels like what we did with Mitch. “Who cares he didnt throw any touchdowns again… he got some yards bro”
The thing that scares me most is we’re getting 2-3 turnovers a game, and beating teams by less than 4 pts. That’s not a sustainable way to win as evidenced by the Ravens game.
He also didn’t throw a TD last week. And only one each of the previous two weeks. At some point your QB either starts to get you in the end zone or you need to find a new QB.
Not saying cut him now or anything, but the leash is shortening.
The mediocrity is unbelievable and we have fans defending it because we’ve had nothing but trash at QB our entire lives, just like the people who defend Santos who cant even hit 60 yard FG 0-2 for his career in today’s NFL is embarrassing
That stably sheet doesn’t mean as much as you think he does.
He’s played well in one game this year vs Dallas, that’s it.
Right now, Caleb Williams is mid. The interesting thing about having a mid QB is that it’s a Rorshach test, you can project whatever feelings you want onto midness.
You wanna be happy he’s better than Justin Fields? Mad he’s not as good as Drake Maye? Excited that he’s on the Goff trajectory? Concerned that if he doesn’t improve he’s Kyler Murray?
All justifiable.
I’m not a doomer about Caleb, but come on. A lot of that yardage was garbage time. Take away that 42 yard prayer to DJ at the end, he drops down to 9th. Whereas Love was slinging the ball all game while ahead.
But again, I keep saying Peyton Manning didn’t even win his first playoff game til year six. There’s still plenty of time to see if Caleb is it, and I’m no where near out on him yet.
I mean do you guys watch the games?
Yardage was good…. lack of TDs killed us.
Im by no means a Caleb hater or a truther, im on the fence. Let’s have this discussion at the end of the year. This team is still growing.
Now if we could get a healthy secondary and cut the penalties, that would go a long way to more productive results.
I don’t care about wins (ok I lied, I do, they’re pretty fun), losses, stats, ect. I knew going into this season it was going to be an adjustment and we would maybe compete for a playoff spot, but nothing spectacular. So I’m fine with most of the struggles, and I like Williams a lot. I think he’s a really good dude, works his ass off, all that. I really want him to be the guy. And since last year with Flus and an OC that refused to watch film with him were so detrimental, I’m giving him the entire season before I make any concrete evaluations to where I think his floor, base, and ceiling is.
However, his accuracy issues are extremely concerning. Every single game so far this year they’ve had multiple drive ending plays because CW misses a wide open receiver. Not long plays, deep balls, and not just misses. He’ll have a wide open receiver on 3rd down 10-15 yards away that he just completely misses. You saw it yesterday on the first drive. he had a wide open guy on 3rd down that he completely missed for the first down, and they settle for a FG. It happens way too often. and i know QBs miss throws, it happens, but the way he misses is very, very concerning.
Again, I’m raising any alarms that he’s a bust or anything like that, he’s got a whole shit ton of good to work with as well that he puts on dsiplay in every game. But his accuracy issues, which plagued him all last season as well, are very, very troubling and if you don’t think this is a huuuuge problem then you’re just lying to yourself. Not saying he wont get a handle on it, maybe it’s tied to other issues and will iron itself out once it all gels together, but he has to figure it out, period. It doesn’t matter how well he does everything else, you can not be a successful starting QB in the NFL with this issue. Period.
This is complete box score merchant behavior. The only reason he’s up there is because he threw a prayer to Dj down 14 with 30 seconds left and it still resulted in 0 points
Yards dont mean anything if you dont score in the crucial moments of the game. If we went 14 point or even 10 instead of 6.. it would of been a whole different ball game.
So Justin Fields is a top 10 QB? Is that what you’re saying?
Post whatever stats you want, he isn’t playing good enough right now.
Whether people have “given up” is just people predicting what the future holds, it’s all irrelevant to me. Caleb isn’t good until he proves it.
The Box Score strikes again
I’ve been very positive this season, and patient with Caleb even in games he’s struggled. We are too far into the season for him to be looking like this. He’s regressing. Second week in a row he could not throw a TD against awful defenses. Still not gonna make definitive statements like some here giving up on him, but I’m worried now.
Caleb is inaccurate and just isn’t seeing the field correctly. I’m not out on him but why do some fans refuse to believe what’s in front of us. Now if you wanna pull up the all 22 and show me why I’m wrong then ok, but just watching it seems like he consistently throws with horrible accuracy, and can’t ready the defense and make plays downfield.
Game are not played in the box score
He’s also the only one on that list with zero TD’s and a negative TD to INT ratio. Total yards don’t tell the whole story. Repeated failures in the red zone, two grounding penalties, failing to run out of bounds at the end of the half costing a timeout. More wildly inaccurate throws. It’s a lot of little things and poor decisions.
I don’t think he’s terrible but he’s also not a difference maker. I looked at 3 different QB rankings prior to this week (NFL.com, ESPN, The Ringer) and he was ranked 18, 19, and 20. So he’s ranking out as a mid level QB. Don’t you expect more from the overall #1 pick last year?
Hey had like 170 yards with 6 minutes left in the 4th. This is such a poor take. Raw yardage doesn’t tell the story.
Honestly his performance was also quite bad. He was missing so many easy throws.
I blame him and our defense
Garbage time yards, he’s had maybe one decent game this year
Yea like 150 of the passing yards were in the 4th quarter garbage yards. Main problem is we have one of the worst defenses in football. I know there were a bunch of turnovers in the 4 game win streak which is basically why we won those games. You can’t count on that every week.
Anyone who points to these stats I would tell you didn’t watch this game or don’t understand football. Passing yards are very misleading especially when you are down 2 plus scores at the end of the game that opposing defense will play soft coverage and allow underneath throws all day long to run the clock out. He couldn’t hit DJ Moore wide open in the end zone at the end of the game. I’m not blaming it on CW but he needs to read the field better and make a pass after 2 seconds like ever other successful QB. It’s ok to take the check down instead of turning every play into a scramble. Yes he has improved a lot over last year. But we are absolutely stacked on the WR and TE front should be scoring more points
Who gives a shit about yards?
I want to win just as badly as everyone else but until we lose 10 in a row again remember we are in a better spot than we were at any point in the last 5-6 years.
To be fair, he is the only QB up there with 0 touchdowns which is a concern
Yeah, so far, on paper he is Trubiski
0 TDs
He’s just a mid qb
I don’t disagree that we are dooming a bit too hard but passing yards is such a garbage stat for evaluating a QB’s quality. At least when looking on a game level. Justin Fields threw 283 yards with 2 TD in week 5, but more than half of the yards, and both touchdowns, were in garbage time.
