Carson Wentz to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery, JJ McCarthy to Start Week 9 vs Lions

[Music] It’s going down to rooms. So, couple housekeeping items. So, I know that the audio quality of the undisclosed location videos has been sort of it’s been fine, but it’s been it could certainly be better. And we we sort of been doing a Pepsi challenge with various microphones. We got sent a couple. Uh, I haven’t been a fan yet, so I may just have to break down and get uh another road. Uh, which is what we have at the at the home studio. Uh, but specifically for the road is what it is. Also, shout out to the drones that I’ve seen uh last couple days. Undisclosed location. Shout out to the the Duterinos uh that we saw today. Awesome stuff. And it was like, how how do you Every time someone recognizes me in public, I always want to be like, no, I have no idea what you’re talking about. And then they feel kind of racist because they’re like, “Oh, maybe all Asian people look alike.” Nah. Also, shout out Bang’s Kitchen, man. That’s right. Saw saw them on the flight over. So, uh, first off is, well, the story is Carson Wentz. Been out there fighting the good fight and is going to be going on IR. Uh, Chev of Vikings place quarterback. Carson Wentz on injured reserve. Wentz will undergo season ending surgery on his left shoulder. And Wentz has has been a warrior out there, man. Like it’s hasn’t been pretty all the time. Uh he’s fighting through a lot of pain and he was okay, right? And also had some brilliant moments, had some bad moments, had a little bit of everything. But, you know, the the pure number one fact was that he had an injury. Kevin Con made him play through it and it was there uh rap sheet. Uh details on Carson Wentz’s on Carson Wentz in the first half of the London game. when suffered a dislocation that tore his labum and fractured the socket per the insiders. He gutted out two and a half more games for the Vikings with a big stabilizing brace while JJ McCarthy hang high ankle recovered. So there’s a couple things here and Kevin McConnell I did not care for how he handled this one situation right because basically he just kept tossing once out there when clearly he wasn’t healthy because did you think that he gave you the best chance to win? I feel like that’s debatable and and we’ve talked about the conspira conspiracy theory, man, that the whole Max Brosmer thing. Now, I I know that the backup quarterback is always the most popular guy in town and Bromer was quarterback three, but couple things here. Why wasn’t Brosmer in the game against the Chargers earlier where you kept sending out Wentz in a game that was clearly lost uh until the final drive when Wentz basically said no Moss and then then you finally put Brosmer in. All right. I don’t understand it because yeah, a really banged up and deteriorated Carson Wentz over a UDFA with a quick release, good accuracy. Right. I I understand he’s a rookie UDFA. Fully get it. He’s also older than Jayen McCarthy, by the way. Played a lot of college football uh at New Hampshire. And I I I just don’t understand, right? And you know, the whole thing with Wentz is that, yeah, he did uh leave the game right before halftime to to get that sold uh that shoulder uh taped up and stuff. And Bromer came in for a kneel down, the greatest kneel down in NFL history. And here’s the thing with Kevin McConnell. Do you trust Max Bromer or do you not? Right? Because I if you don’t trust him, why the hell was he your quarterback too these last couple of games with McCarthy as emergency quarterback three? Why’d you bring in a veteran quarterback? Why didn’t you bring back Desmond Ritter? But it’s clear again. So also Kevin McConnell and Wes Phelps have said really nice things about Brosmer. But as we always say on the show believe actions over words and their actions of having Brosmer be the backup and not bringing in a veteran show that they trust Brosmer. So why wouldn’t they put him in? Well, what if Brosmer looks good and all of a sudden there’s a quarterback controversy? Now the Vikings are all in on JJ McCarthy, right? And frankly, if Bromer as a UDFA, uh, they would get credit for finding him as a UDFA in their own backyard, by the way. Uh, but if he comes in and balls out and McCarthy is still sort of sort of struggling at times, that that’s going to make him look like a horse’s patute, even though it would add to the lore of Kevin McConnell, the quarterback whisperer. So, I I firmly believe that they did not play Brosmer strictly because it may cause a quarterback controversy if and when Brosmer played good. And also that’s exactly why uh that last drive against the Chargers Kevin didn’t use any of his timeouts because Brosmer was starting to drive the ball and if they scored a garbage time touchdown oh load that sports talk media discourse it would just be very ungood but e either way bromer still backup quarterback. Uh so so it’s clear that you trust him by the way. And then JJ McCarthy f it we ball starting against Detroit starting for the rest of the season because the you don’t want anymore. Also corresponding roster move on the Vikings 53 peliser full circle. The Vikings originally signed tight end Ben Sims as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He was waved in the final cuts and claimed by the Packers who kept him on the rooster for over two years before waving him Saturday and now he’s been reclaimed by Minnesota. So the Packers trying to get him down to the practice squad. Uh Co is like no no no no. Also uh it’s probably not a good sign for Josh Oliver going forward. So I don’t know. But either way, like I don’t want to get this twisted like Carson Wentz was absolute hardcore man, right? Just the toughness that he showed, the fortitude that he showed, it’s great. Also, there will be lawyers. Honestly, if I’m Carson Wentz and the NFL PA and his agent, like how are you not filing suit against the league where it was clear Kevin McConnell was not protecting the player from himself, which he tends to do. And I don’t know like he should sue just because the Vikings are making him miss deer season. So anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Carson one’s done for the season. You guys are the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

  1. This dude played with a broken back before, broken leg, and when he tore his ACL in philly, stayed in afterwards. This guy is tough as nails, never seen him show pain on his face before. To see him in such pain on Thursday, it must have been really bad. They sacrificed this man.

  2. Nobody should ever question how tough Carson is ….ever. Huge respect for a guy that was excited to contribute to his boyhood favorite team and did. I wish him well.

  3. Best wishes to Wentz on his recovery.

KOC seemed determined to get him killed out there. He goes on and on about being careful with injuries and player safety, but then it turns out he really only means his personal favorites and could care less about protecting players like Wentz even when the game is already a blowout.

  4. KOC is disgusting. Threw Wentz to the wolves to die injured. Max wasnt in because he may make golden boy JJ look bad. Carson deserved better. Nfl investigate and fine the vikings.

  5. Anyone that shit talked Wentz any point after the London games should feel like a douche. You can say non throwing shoulder and whatever, but def altered his throwing mechanics. You could clearly tell. Totally FKD. I hope the media hounds his stupid ass next presser he has.

  6. Yeah let’s chill on the Wentz lawsuit against the league. Wentz is a grown man, this isn’t the military, you can say no.

ALSO, I am ON BOARD with the Brosmer-JJ conspiracy where they were afraid Brosmer would look good and that would steal from JJ’s confidence and fans would be calling for a QB controversy. I’m not gonna lie, and I know this sounds stupid, but watching Brosmer in the preseason all I could think was how LIGHTNING FAST his release is. Like the millisecond he see’s his man the ball is out. It’s kind of shocking.

  7. Hilarious, and you praised Koc, dissed on Aaron, Daniel, and Darnold. I just watch this channel to see how you handle all your wrong predictions.😅😂

  8. KOC has somehow managed to do a massive disservice to every quarterback on this roster. He trotted a one-armed Carson wentz onto the field time and again, and may have seriously affected Carson’s future playing career. He’s done a disservice to Brosmer by not letting him show what he’s capable of for this team or others down the line. And maybe worst of all he’s babied a top ten pick with the conservative play calling and his refusal to play brosmer so he doesn’t stir up controversy. Why tf does a head coach care about what the dumbass media speculation, tell em JJs the starter and tell JJ to nut up if he’s getting his feelings hurt by the media. And isn’t JJ supposed to be mentally tough? He definitely showed it in that bears game, trust the kid to go and ball out with all these stacked skill positions, that’ll shut up any controversy that remains. But no, KOC has made it infinitely worse, and frankly should be heavily fined or even fired for what he did to wentz.

  9. That's a BS theory about why KOC kept Wentz in the game. I think KOC just believed that Wentz could give him the best shot of executing the plays that he calls. I don't think he's afraid Brosmer would look better than JJ. If he is, so what? Look at the 49ers, they wanted Trey Lance to be their guy but Purdy came in and took the job.

  10. Never been a fan of Carson Wentz, always been a fan of KOC. I’m ashamed of how this was handled, I have a lot of respect for Carson Wentz going out there and putting his body on the line for Minnesota

  11. Do you realize Wentz is part of a sick NFL ritual where # 11 goes down and # 9 comes in, in Minnesota like he did in Philadelphia for the eagles when he # 11 went down and Foles #9 came in and won the superbowl in Minnesota the "twin city" against the patriots. Thinking a Patriots vs Eagles superbowl is in store where the Patriots will become champions 😂

  12. Honestly makes me gain a lot of respect for Wentz. But I agree with someone’s handling of the situation. Even if he was adamant about playing, feel like KO has to step in and say no
