Come on. I’m as done with Zac as the rest of this sub but he’s clearly talking about a player. Players need to step up and be leaders. Logan Wilson is the perfect example of what he’s talking about. He gets benched for sucking and immediately requests a trade. Clearly doesn’t care about the team. Someone, or multiple people, need to step up and be vocal leaders on the defense. Coaching can only do so much. Players need to execute
Isn’t that in a head coach job description?
Culture starts at the top with ownership. Until they shape up or sell the team this is what the bengals are. A bad franchise who will flash occasionally when the stars align.

Not saying Zac doesn’t have accountability here, but god damn idk how you fail to hold the players accountable too after that piss poor performance. He’s not wrong.
I think it hits different when it is being said by a coach of a bad team. He’s not wrong per se.
Winning team coaches always talk about leaders on the field and how those guys do something that few coaches truly can, especially coaches who never were on the field at college or pro levels, and who lack a shared experience.
You need leadership off the field and on the field. That’s pretty universal across all team sports.
Whatever you think of Taylor, he’s not wrong to say this team is lacking defensive leadership on the field. Coaches can’t make a play.
Think of legendary players on defense, and how many of them are described as leaders. Yes they are skilled and good at football, but they add more. They can be a guy who is cerebral and leads by making sure they communicate what they see to everyone else. They can be a guy who sets the tone and everyone else feels the need to match their big hit, their sack, their tackle, etc.
We lack leadership on the field, and it isn’t something you can easily teach in the classroom.
He’s right that this team lacks leadership from all levels, including the players.
Who is a leader on the defense? Even on the offense, Joe seems more internally focused on greatness than overall team leadership.
He benched one of the leaders so there is that, hindsight is 202/20 but I rather have a slow Wilson than a rookie spinning around in confusion because he doesn’t know where the ball is, just Watch the TD run of the RB Hall
I can’t wait until we fire Taylor and are still bad, then who are we blaming lol

Coach’s job is to identify, foster, and elevate leaders. If he is saying this publicly he either is pressuring someone specifically he wants to step up, or he has no idea and is on his last rope.
Owner’s job is to look into this and make a decision.
This is the Bengals so we have like 5 plus years until they make a move.
The fact that he’s completely unaware of how this is perceived, outside the building and within, is why the man deserves to be fired. The man is clueless.
