Yankees See Cody Bellinger Market Exploding

  1. I bet his agent wrote that article .. everyone’s market “explodes” any time the Yankees are involved in deal talks lol

  2. SI fired all its actual writers in 2024. At this point, the “writers” give an AI a prompt and maybe read it over once or twice. This article is more a suggestion to go read the Athletic than an actual story.

  3. Hope he gets paid somewhere else. He was good, but he doesn’t profile long term in CF (-1 OAA) and there are better options for a corner spot

  4. Because of his versatility I think $30M aav for 6 years with a club option year is probably the max. If they can get Belli for less than that fine but they shouldn’t pay any more than that.

This is the FA signing that makes the most sense for the Yankees and will probably be “the big signing” in this off-season. After this is done don’t expect much else in the way of major trades or FA signings. The Yankees have money coming off the books from now through 2028 and I think they’ll try to replace all of those contracts with farm system talent. Hal is a thrifty owner and as long as the Yankees land in the playoffs that’s good enough for him.

  5. Take a look at the free agent market. They’re are like 5 names and then a bunch of trash.

There is going to be a LOT of overpaying this winter.

  6. God I’d love to see all sorts of explosions from Cody Bellinger. Preferably up close.

  7. It’s gonna be hilarious if Cohen signs him just to be an asshole to the Yankees and they still don’t have any pitching and miss the playoffs yet again. They never learn.

  8. To be honest, I don’t think he’d rejoin even if we offered him the most money. He seems to prefer the west coast

  9. Unless they plan to trade Dominguez or Jones he would be blocking one of them. They have given every indication that they are pretty invested in both of those guys. They need to factor that into the cost.

  10. 6/168 is still a no brainer to re-sign him. Especially when the alternative is Tucker at like 12/400.

  11. Bellinger on a 1 year deal was amazing Bellinger on a long term big pay item, no thanks, that’s not improving the team that’s just running back a team we already know isn’t good enough
