This Canucks player keeps on SHOCKING everyone….

All right, listen. All I’m going to say is it’s crazy how much of a difference 24 hours can make because I definitely wasn’t expecting that. But I’m very happy with how the Vancouver Canucks performed in this one. Both teams on the second half of a backtoback, but the Vancouver Canucks with a very depleted roster. No Phil Heedel, no Teddy Bluger, John Leer, Mackey, or Quinn Hughes. It really left the healthy players on this roster with no choice but to dig deep and find that next gear, which they absolutely did. I’m looking at guys like Phil Heronic who really stepped up in a big way. Had a great night stepping in to play that number one defenseman role. You also had Leas Person. This guy just keeps getting better and better as the season goes on. He had a great game the other night against Montreal and tonight he unloaded one. A classic Person clap bomb. Great to see that on full display. The whole Besser, Kane, and Reichel line was actually very dangerous. I actually like Kane’s game tonight. He had a good pass over to Besser in that first period. And Besser also had his best game of the season after missing a couple of late chances against Montreal and Nashville. He fires back today with a multi-point effort. Lucas Reichel, newly acquired, also showing lots of flashes of skill. Had a couple of great looks today. Almost got his first with the Canucks, but it’s coming real soon. I can tell you that for sure. But how could I forget the MVP of this game, Kefir Sherwood. He got to sign the guy. He scored two goals today. Could have had himself three or four, one disallowed goal. The guy’s just a machine. He does it all. A complete stud. I love this player. And yes, I get it. I’m full glaze in right now, but it doesn’t matter. It’s welld deserved. You just love to see the passion from a guy like that after he scores every single goal. He gets fired up like it’s his first goal in the NHL or like a Stanley Cup game clenching goal, but it’s just some random goal on a Sunday night. You just love to see that. Anyways, let’s go through the game. Starting off with the first period of play. Early in this one, Sherwood walks Bousard like a dog. Could have had a nice goal, but it’s a good save from Pickard. Keeps it out. And then late in the period, Evander Kane chases down this puck. Good effort. Spins this one over to Besser who’s in on goal. One-on-one with Pickard and he gets it by on the back end. Makes it one- nothing for Vancouver. Demco on the other end solid as a rock as we head to the first intermission. And in the second period, the Vancouver does find themselves on the power play. They move it around and Phil Heronic feeds Elias Patterson who wires this one by Pickard. He didn’t even see it coming. Makes it two nothing. Beautiful shot right there. On the other end, it’s Nan Hopkins in one-on-one with Demco, but he makes a great save to keep it out. And then here, halfway through the game, Sherwood gets a puck here. He’s in on goal. Has a step, gets it by Pickard, and he scores, but Tyler Myers was offside by a little bit. So, the goal gets called back. Unfortunate, but what can you do? Drew O’ Conor, I got to comment on this play here, to create the goal. Draws in the defender and then drops it to Sherwood. Creates the space. You love to see stuff like that after. It’s McDavid making moves. He tries to go solo but Demco stands tall. And after that’s Busho with a nice pass over to Leon Dry settle on a breakaway and he finally beats Demco to make it a 2 to1 game. But then with a minute remaining it’s Kefir Sherwood who gets this pass from Brock Besser. He walks in on Echol. Pretty innocent looking play but he makes him look stupid. Walks him completely and then goes in on Picker to snipe it by. Make it a 3-1 game and that one will count. What a goal from Sherwood there. In the third is Tyler Myers who continues to have a rough game. First he went offside and then here he can’t get the puck out. It falls to Jack Rosvik who comes in and scores his first goal as an Oilers short side. Makes it a 3 to2 hockey game. Sass makes a nice play to Pio Joseph with a draw pass. Here’s a great look in the slot, but it’s a good save from Pickard. And then the Oilers get themselves a power play. You cannot take penalties late in the game against the Oilers because they’re going to punish you. It’s McDavid here who walks in. Nice feed to Dry Settle. He knows what to do there. Puts it by Demco and makes it a 3-3 tie. Besser tries to feed Riel here and he just barely misses. Nice feed from Besser and good to see Riel move to the space there. I forgot to mention early in the second Riel had a good chance to feed Tyler Myers but he just could not get his stick on this. But anyways, back to the third period. No one scores, so we need overtime. And in the overtime period, the Oilers had the first couple of chances. McDavid on goal, but he just missed. The Canucks picked up the puck. They come back the other way and it’s Besser who risks one on goal and Sherwood gets on the end of it to tip it in and win the game for the Vancouver Conucks. They take it four to three. Definitely a sigh of relief after a couple of tough losses to the Montreal Canadians and the Nashville Predators. Both onegoal game losses, so it’s nice to get the win. Next one is a big one. Quite possibly the biggest home game of the season as it’s the Canucks and the Rangers. JT Miller back in town for the first time since the trade. The Vancouver Canucks with a much. needed win over the Edmonton Oilers. Kiefer Sherwood was a star, Elias Pettersson is finding his form, Evander Kane had a better night. Without Quinn Hughes the canucks put up a great effort to secure the win.

    The Oilers looked checked out for parts of this game. Two runs to the finals, and nothing to show for it must wear them down a lot.

    Glad to see the next men up take the step.

  4. If the Canucks are not comfortably in a playoff spot by the trade deadline (at least 6 points above 9th in the West ), it's time to trade Sherwood for maximum return. As great as Kiefer is, he's on an expiring deal, and the Canucks have to break their cycle of clinging to players just to watch themselves get nothing in the end.

  7. The offside rule is stupid…it should only be applied if there is direct involvement in the play…nothing that Meyers did contributed to that goal…needs a rule change in my opinion

  9. I really like that Hronek and Pettersson both had patience on the powerplay. Maybe Pettersson could have shot the first time, but the defense was already there, it would not have been a great one timer like the goal. They send it around one more time and get the defense and goalie faceing around the clock, and Hronek feeds Pettersson again instead of trying to take the shot himself with guys blocking his shooting lane. Worked out really well, getting a shot from Pettersson on moving defense and goalie. Good on Hronek for getting Pettersson to shoot it and not taking a shot himself just because he got a few back and forth passes.

  11. Watch this team have amnesia next game and completely flop. If they kept this consistency every game, they would be a force to be reckoned with.

  12. Hey man. Digging the channel. The broadcast started at 9p here. I fell asleep during the 2nd intermission. I think that it's poor form to put the game result in the thumbnail. Personally, this was how i was going to find out, anyway. Just a suggestion.

    Go Petey! I don't get why he gets so much heat. He was hurt last season. He missed 18 games, Demko played 23 games, all that stuff. It is a team sport.

    With the contracts being signed, now, do people still think that he's overpaid? I used to. The situation, with Miller, was stupid (perhaps overkill by thr media people), and they still have that hole in the lineup. If someone had to go, I'd send JT all day. You don't fall off at 26 because you suck.

    I was getting annoyed with the injuries piling up already. Then, Hughes is injured. Here we go again. I'm glad to see them win. All things considered, 50% points, and a save % above league average is great. Hell, last night, Kane even got an assist and stayed out of the box.

    We're only 10 games in. Could we blame the previous season on Tocchet, and focus on this year?

  18. On one hand I am fucking thrilled with how amazing Sherwood has turned out to be… on the other hand it's a bit sad that Sherwood is our best player. EP40 has been looking great also which is promising.

  20. I mean, we HAVE to try Garland and Sherwood together at some point right? Like, at least to start the game, especially important ones. That right there is a dynamic duo one can’t shy away from. And when they score do the fans chant ‘Kie-fer Sher-wood’ or ‘Con-or Gar-land’, I dunno, perhaps it’s a bit of both, maybe a bit of a back-n-forth where one side of the arena chants Kie-fer Sher-wood and the other half responds Con-or Gar-land, as if in a shout-out battle, but whatever the case they just need to make this happen

  22. Sherwood’s confidence is clearly going through the roof. His one on two rush made both defenders look bad. I guarantee both Ekholmn and Walman are going to be forced to watch that highlight a few times by the coaching staff, as they try to figure out how to stop the bleeding on defence.

  26. Compare him to Burrows all you want, and there are similarities – mainly in that he's a pest who can score. But to be fair, as great as Burrows was, the vast majority of his points were with the Sedins. They had tremendous chemistry. But away from the Twins, Burr had goals here and there and obviously he created some chances on his own, but I don't know if I ever saw Alex do what Sherwood does with the puck. Dance through defenders and score highlight reel goals. He was phenomenal at tap ins and that's a skill you need, but Kiefer seems to have individual efforts that lead to highlight reel scoring chances and goals. Similar players, but some differences. It's like the Canucks have unlocked a side of him that wasn't showing before.

  42. They played a lot of games in a short period of time so I’m ok with how the season has started, especially with the injuries so far.
    The parade is back on! We are making the playoffs!
