Yankees Signing Kyle Tucker Right Or Wrong Move? (New York Yankees News)
Should the Yankees sign Kyle Tucker? Do you guys think that Kyle Tucker is a good fit for the Yankees that it would be a good move for them? You guys let me know what you think about that down in the comments. Now, Kyle Tucker last year for the Cubs had an okay season. Kind of a down year for him. Still had an 841 OPS, but that second half for Tucker was absolutely abysmal. It was terrible. That first half for Tucker basically put up MVP numbers. So, let’s go over that. Tucker, April through June. Month of April hit 279, seven homers, 27 RBI with a 935 OPS. Month of May, hit .287, five homers, 12 RBI with a eight with a 882 OPS. Month of June, hit 311, five homers, 13 RBI, and a 982 OPS. Like I said, MVP type numbers. Cubs fans were calling for them to extend Kyle Tucker. But let’s look at what he did from July through September. July he at 218, one homer, 9 RBI with a 675 OPS. August 244 batting average, three homers, 9 RBI into 735 OPS. Month of September, only played in five games. He dealt with an injury, hit 158, one homer, three RBI into 516 OPS. It almost it almost feels like hey, you know, I mean, I’m not I’m not accusing the Cubs of anything, but it kind of looks like uh a matter of that Kyle Tucker was hurt. Maybe there were some struggles in there that, you know, cuz you’re not going to play at a high level the entire year. You’re going to hit a slump here and there, but it could have been a combination of a slump and and him being hurt, which led to having a poor July and an okay August. But let’s face it, for Kyle Tucker, it wasn’t a great one. And then, as I said, he missed a lot of time in September, only played in five games. But we have to look at it in this way, too. Look at his splits. Home and away splits at home at Wrigley Field. Tucker hit .236, seven homers, 26 RBI, and a 747 OPS. Away, different numbers. Hit 292, 15 homers, 47 RBI, and a 923 OPS. just a different player away from Wrigley as opposed to playing at Wrigley. Now, Cody Bellinger was very similar in 2024 with the Cubs. Cody with the Cubs at Wrigley hit 247, eight homers, 32 RBI, and a 700 OPS. On the road, he performed much better. Had a 797 OPS for the Cubs. But as we know, Cody Bellinger this year for the Yankees, this past year for the Yankees rather, crushed it at the stadium, had over 900 OPS on the road had like a 715 OPS, but crushed it at the stadium. And I think in my opinion, Kyle Tucker would do the same thing. Most of his home runs, he pulled them right field, right center field. That would bode well for Yankee Stadium for Mr. Tucker. And I think the kind of year he had with those 22 homers, I think at the stadium, he becomes a 3540 home run hitter. I really do. I really do. And and just looking at the the numbers, his home and away splits. I mean, guys, it’s night and day. He hit 292 on the road with 15 homers. He hit twice as many homers as he did He twice as many homers on the road as he did at home. Tech are we talking about? And his OPS was like 130 points, 140 points higher on the road. Chicago wasn’t the best fit for him. Now, how much is he going to cost? According to The Athletic, I believe it was Jim Bowen, according to The Athletic, he could cost you 10 years for $427 million. It’s a lot of money, especially for Kyle Tucker. Now, if I’m the Yankees, I would try to spread that out a little more. If he wants 427, okay, but maybe sign him 427 for 10 years, I mean, for 12 years, which instead of almost a $43 million AAV, that brings it down to a $35 million AAV, which I would feel much more comfortable with that. However, is Kyle Tucker number one worth all of that money when you probably could get Cody Bellinger for less years and less money? Cody last year for the Yankees had such a wonderful season. 29 homers, 98 RBI. He was one homer and two RBI away from being a 3000 guy. I mean, I love having those on the team. And he was such a valuable outfielder for the Yankees, especially on the corners. In left, he was tremendous. In right field, he was even better. In center field, though, where you would probably have to play Cody Bellinger this year or in 2025, 2026 and beyond because he’s a lot better on the corners. In center, he wasn’t that great. A negative three defensive run saved, a negative one outs above average. He wasn’t that great in center. So if you’re going to have Cody Bellinger, you might as well play him in the corners on the corners. But Judge is over there in right now. John Carlo John Carlos Stanton has two more years left. He’s gone in two years. You can move Aaron Judge to DH full-time because you want to preserve Aaron Judge and then Cody Ballinger right field is his for the duration of his contract. So, that’s not a bad move. But Kyle Tucker number one, is he the better offensive player? Yeah, he is. And on the road this year, he was tremendous. His OPS was higher than than Cody’s. His OPS plus higher than Cody’s. Cody had like a 813 OPS. Kyle Tucker an 841 OPS. Cody had a I believe 125 ops plus Kyle Tucker 143 OPS plus a better offensive player now. No shade against Cody. I love Cody. I thought Cody was a tremendous fit. I hope Cody comes back. I really hope there’s a world where you could bring in Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker. I re I really hope that that could be possible. I don’t know if the Yankees are going to want to spend that kind of money on on two on two guys, but I think that would make the most sense because Cody, he could play first base. Yes, he only played 26 innings over there at first base last year for the Yankees, but he came up as a first baseman. He’s a natural first baseman. Plays the outfield great, but he could play first base if you need him to. Now, all in all, who should the Yankees get? Should the Yankees just focus on Cody and bring him in? He’ll be less money. We know how well he played here. We assume he wants to be here. Or would you rather Kyle Tucker, who is the superior offensive player? He is. There’s no debate. He’s better than Cody Bellinger. It’s just a fact. But is he worth that kind of money? Like I said, if he needs that 427 and if all you need to do is give Kyle Tucker that 427, maybe you try to give him an even longer deal, but the guy’s going to be 29 years old come opening day or close to it. So, would you be okay with throwing Kyle Tucker a 12-year deal? There’s a lot of questions that the Yankees are going to have to answer with this if they do pursue Kyle Tucker. That’s why it might just be easier to go and get Cody. It might it might just be easier that way because you don’t have you’re not committing the amount of years and money to Cody as you would to Kyle Tucker. You’re just not. But Kyle Tucker a tremendous bat. I think he’s a fit here. I do. If Cody’s a fit, Tucker’s a fit. That’s it. And the Yankees, whether they bring Cody back or not, they need somebody in center field. It doesn’t matter. Cody’s not our center fielder. I’m sorry. He shouldn’t be. He should be playing in left. Now, I love the argument. Dominguez, oh, if if he wasn’t that good in left, what makes you think he’ll be good in center? He played center field most of his professional career. We know what he is in left. Just try him in center. See what happens. That’s what you basically did last year with left field. You tried him in left and you to see what happens to see how good he would be. And it freaking was not very good. What’s the difference? Now he’s you you switch him to a position where he’s played his entire professional career in center. See how he does. If he stinks, he stinks. He stinks. And left. So if he stinks, he stinks. No difference except you have an exceptional left fielder in Cody Bellinger. Or if you bring in Tucker, he can play left. Don’t tell me Tucker can’t play left. He could play left. He could play it fine. He could play left just as good as he plays right. And he’s an okay right fielder. He’s not the best. He’s not the best either, but he could play left. And with that kind of bat that Tucker possesses, I don’t I don’t really understand how you wouldn’t want a guy like Kyle Tucker in pinstripes. I want him. It just has to make sense. We’ll see what the Yankees do, but I want to know what you guys think. Do you guys think Kyle Tucker is a good fit here or not? I want to know down in the comments. Thank you guys so so much for watching. Take care.
Should the Yankees sign Kyle Tucker? Is he a good fit? Would you sign him over Cody Bellinger? Let me know what you think down in the comments.

yankees should do whatever it takes and see if they can get skubal
Why did Yankees fan’s finally believe not all left handed hitters would play well in NY.
My dream 2026 lineup…
1. (S) Jasson Dominguez, CF
2. (L) Kyle Tucker, LF
3. (R) Aaron Judge, RF
4. (L) Cody Bellinger, 1B
5. (R) Giancarlo Stanton, DH
6. (L) Ben Rice, C
7. (R) Kazuma Okamoto, 3B
8. (L) Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
9. (R) Jose Caballero, SS
If he gets over half of the crazy number they're projecting it will be a huge failure for whatever team
Dominguez at cf he better there than the corner
For Tucker to get more than judge is the dumbest fkn thing I've ever heard.
Tucker's a good player, but not good enough to command the contract he will get in free agency. The Yankees need a superstar, call the Braves and give them a haul of prospects for Acuna; end of story.
I would bring Bellinger back move the Martian to Center if there not bringing back Grishom
He’s a right fielder only, where Judge will play? Cody will be cheaper. Stop with the stupidity
Misleading title
The versatility Bellinger provides with being a known quantity is a simple yes for me. I really want to see what we have in Dominguez and Jones. Bellinger allows us to rotate through the 3 OF positions to give rest and see what the kids can do. If Jones hits like he did when promoted to AAA we have the best CF in baseball and Bellinger rotation drops a spot. If Jones can’t make contact then Bellinger takes over CF and we look to add some OF depth. If we have the great problem of Jones and Dominguez performing then Bellinger can shift to a rotation at first base with Rice adding more catching days.
The money difference between Tucker and Bellinger can then be used for Okamoto and/or a big time reliever. Okamoto would improve the left side of the infield and the bullpen was our biggest weakness last year.
No to Tucker, yes to Cody!
Trade Gil, Dominguez, Jones and Wells and dump Loaisiga, Blackburn and some Deadwood for Pitching.
No Tucker is showing signs of decline in his defensive abilities. He very well could have been injured more than the Cubs let on. However he’s a veteran and should know better I’m in favor of the signing of Belinger
FORGET TUCKER….HE IS OVERATED…….BELLINGER HAD BETTER NUMBERS THAN HE DID….AND HE WILL BE CHEAPER THAN TUCKER…..AND BELLINGER LOVED BEING A YANKEE…..
We need players on The New York Yankees, don't need to make between 300 or 400 million to play for the Yankees as long as he produces year in, and year out, as long as he earns every penny!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to go to the old days, when George Steinbenner, you to own the The New Yankees, and when he signed a player to a contract doesn't matter who, they came in, and produced, and that's the name of the game, because George doesn't play around, he always serious about his signing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No his not right
use the money to get some bullpen help and try to bring cody back with the yanks better use of money if we go this way Tucker is going to command too much for my liking
Steven kwan would be nice
I think 427 million is too much. We would pay him into his 40's! Lets keep Belly and trade for Bryce, if possible.
So after all this talk about Spencer Jones, we're just going to forget about him and designate him to the trading block? Not to mention everything that Bellinger has done for us and deserves to come back? There's no point in going after Tucker unless the 2 I just mentioned are not going to be in the outfield next year.
Kyle Tucker is an amazing fit for The Yankees. They should prioritize Cody Bellinger. But they should sign both
Tucker is simply not a good fit…period! Unless, Cody doesn't stay. Giving him 12 years on any scale is ridiculous at 29. Also, there's no way, I can see the Yanks spending so much money to only two players. Moreover, using Judge as a DH, in the hopes of his continued offensive, by solely hitting, is equally risky. Moreover, that you don't even mention Grisham, the best center fielder, including Judge to play center since the Mick, is borderline malfeasance.
With Cody or if Cody is not re-signed, meaning if chooses to go to another team.
I want C.B.
I wouldn't pay any player with a long contract if it takes them into their forties.
MLB has a huge problem. These players hit .287 with 15 homeruns and they're demanding w a 10 years, 500 million dollars contract. These contracts are absurd! There has a salary cap along with a floor.
We need pitching, a pitcher that can last 7 innings at least. We did great this year with Fried and Rondon, if we can somehow add Skubal to this rotation and possibly have the best 1 thru 5 staff, we should be in the WS next year, "IF THEY CAN STAY HEALTHY". Bring Jones up and let Dominguez play more and see if we can get decent second baseman. Bregman at third would be nice.
Bellinger is more versatile . He hits lefties which is a huge plus because we’re very left handed and none of our other lefties touch left handed pitching . And if you’re not going to trade for skubal , which we aren’t , then get Brendan Donovan to move around the infield , contact hitter solid glove still under control.
I don’t see $400 M on Tucker
Tucker for 10 years ..400 plus millions is not worth it.. the Yankees need to learn from all the bad long term deals they did in the past…Sign Cody for 30 per year for 6 years and let Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones take off the other position…They need bullpen help big time.
Tucker is overrated. They should put Ben Rice at first base. Rice is going to be a huge star next year. He hits to good to have as catcher.
Kyle Tucker is not worth that type of money THE YANKEES SHOULD PIVOT TO STEVEN KWAN, he has 2 years of Control and it would be a simple move if the guardians are willing to trade him. The Yankees need A Leadoff hitter to start the 2026 Season Plus he could be the catalyst to jump start the lineup he can wreak "HAVOC" Stealing bases DECENT BASE RUNNER AND he is a TOP 3 LEFT FIELDER. Gold GLOVE. The Yankees can't go over the threshold for 1 exclusive player Just bring back Cody Bellinger he has already proven his worth Kyle and Bryce DON'T WANNA WIN THE World Series, They COLLECTIVELY WANT TO MAKE MONEY I truly hope the Yankees make the right decisions this offseason Aaron Judge deserves better from this Organization.
In my opinion, Kyle Tucker is a better version of Juan soto. Better defense. Roughly the same offensive production. If he was an addition to what we have, it would be great. Losing goldy, moving Bellinger to 1B, keep Grisham trade the Martian for pitching. Tucker, Grisham & Judge in the outfield.
@TheShift2 Joe Caputo I’m afraid I’m going to say no to that the Yankees should sign Kyle Tucker
Cody Bellinger called Scott boras last year and said “do what it takes to get me to NY”. He wanted to be a Yankee BAD! That’s why Chicago dumped him for basically a happy meal at McDonald’s. He came here and had the best season of his career next to his first two years on LA. He loves the pinstripes and thrives. A proven product in NY. Sorry. Belli is the sure thing. Also a great teammate and good guy.
