REKAP Rush Hour 🚗: Should Chicago Bears give up significant draft capital at next week’s deadline?
Welcome into the recap rush hour for Tuesday. It’s October 28th. I’m David Kaplan. It’s brought to you by our great partners at the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy dealers. They are the official truck partners of the Chicago Bears. Araldis Chapman, you got to hear this. For me to lead this sports cast with Araldis Chapman, it’s got to be good stuff. And it is. Araldis Chapman was on a podcast recently called Swing Compo and he had his translator with him and he was on the podcast and was asked, “Would you ever play for the New York Yankees again?” He said, quote, “I would retire on the spot if I were told that I was being traded to New York. I’d pack my things up and go home. I’ll retire right on the spot if that happens. I’m not crazy. Never again. He played for the Yanks from 2016 to 2022 with a small stop with the Chicago Cubs in the middle there in 2016. How about that? He’d retire. That’s how much he disliked it. And he said, “I have no problem with the managers, my teammates, people up above them.” ESPN released their NFL power rankings today. Here’s where they have the Bears slotted. They were 14 a week ago. I asked my partner Ryan McGuffy, where do you think they have them? He said 16 feels good. That’s exactly right, Ryan. Very good. You probably read the article. 16. And here’s what ESPN writes. The Bears are a competent, well coached football team under Ben Johnson. Results aren’t always there as red zone efficiency and penalties continue to be a problem. But Chicago put together a four-ame win streak and it has buyin that feels different than other seasons. Johnson has preached accountability which he has demonstrated in his honest reflection on decisions and calls that didn’t work. That’s a breath of fresh air as the culture shifts inside Hall. Novel concept accountability. Wow. Great to see it’s finally landed in Lake Forest, Illinois. Our studio 41 football recap live tonight 8:00. Tommy Wadd, Alex Brown, and I will break down what the film showed from the Bears lost to the Ravens. Get the guy’s thoughts on Caleb Williams. Plus, we will look ahead to the Bears trip to Cincinnati this weekend to take on the Bengals. The Bears a 2 and a half point favorite. Dodgers are the first MLB team ever to generate north of $1 billion dollar in gross revenue in a year, joining the Cowboys, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona is the only franchises to ever hit the billion dollar mark. Here’s today’s Anken Law question of the day. 3126 million for the best personal injury attorney in Illinois, the award-winning Howard Anken Ankenlaw.com. NFL trade deadline a week from today, next Tuesday. If you ran the Bears, would you give up draft capital? And how high would that capital be that you’d be willing to give up to acquire a player? And if you say yes, what position should that player play? Best response, a gift card to Lumalmatis. Lumalmatis.com for a location near you. Try their Buffalo chicken pizza. It’s back on the menu. Four seasons, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electric. Stat of the day. This is literally mind-blowing. Show Otani in game three. 12 total bases on base nine times, four extra base hits, four intentional walks. And since intentional walks became official in 1955, no other MLB player has put up those numbers over a span of two games, let alone one regular season or post. And Chiefs running back Isaiah Pacheco now weekak to week with an MCL spread and he was hurt in the Chiefs win over the Commanders last night. And here’s a bonus stat of the day for you. Here you go. Over his last 10 World Series games, future Hall of Famer Freddy Freeman has hit seven home runs and driven in 17. The only other player in MLB history to reach those marks over a span of 10 games in the World Series, the Iron Horse, Lou Garri. That’s the list. Have a great rest of your day. Join us tonight. Bring your questions. Wadd Brown and I all over the Bears, Ravens, Bears, Bengals. Have a good night. Take that.
Former #chicagocubs closer #aroldischapman appeared on a recent podcast and said, though he played parts of 7 seasons with the #nyyankees, he’d never go back and play in the #bronx. He went even as far as saying he’d retire immediately if he were traded there, saying he was routinely harrassed throughout his playing days there. The #chicagobears are ranked right in the middle of the pack in the latest #nfl power rankings. And today’s #ankinlaw Question of the Day wants to know about next week’s NFL trade deadline. Should the #bears trade draft capital, and significant capital for an upgrade to this roster in 2025. 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 for best response.
The Stat of the Day is in regards how ridiculous of a performance that #shoheiohtani had in Game 3 of the #worldseries. He’s one of one. And #freddiefreeman’s last 10 Series games are in a club with just one other, #lougehrig. What an instant classic between the #losangelesdodgers and #torontobluejays.

Hell no! The bears aren’t even near a complete team. For what a wild card game to get blown out!
Kap regarding ankin law question of the day my answer is right now I would not do anything at the trade deadline unless if they want to upgrade some pieces like an EDGE rusher or another DB but I would keep their draft capital where it is as of right now. I would say Next season deadline I would try to make a huge move but as of right now I wouldn't do anything.
Let's do something crazy like draft an edge or left tackle
Yes
Hell no they're more than one player away
We should be sellers NOT buyers.
Hell no, because this is nowhere near a contender.
Hmm…tough call. I would say Bears should consider trading with NO for Alontae Taylor. The defense has been decimated with injuries and he would be a sight for sore eyes (and other injuries)
No, they should not give up significant capital at the trade deadline, because the Bears are not ready to win.
No,But they should trade for a starting corner at the very least b/c Nick Mcloud and Wright cannot play man coverage consistently
Chapman wants to keep his facial hair and hell no on the trading picks. Too many holes on this team.
A real breath of fresh air would be hearing Ben Johnson say he was starting Bagent at QB
They can give up significant draft capital for a good player. The reason is they don't draft well.
Defensive end will be the position of need for us we can’t create a pass rush at all
I would take trade offers for Caleb starting now.
After what happened in Baltimore on Sunday, the idea of ring chasing should be off the table for this year. Keep the picks.
The Bears should do nothing until Poles is out of the process of evaluating players.
If Maxx Crosby is available, the Bears should definitely make an offer!
I don’t think that I would spend draft capital but I would listen to offers for several players.
These players we have are totally out of shape, they get hurt even in practice and they cause to many penalties. We need reliable players that give it all they can for this team and fans👌
No shot you give up any draft capitol. You aren’t playing for the big dance why sell your future for what we are presently in.
Was it last year bears where 4-2 then lost ten in a row
Dont completely trust poles with the draft picks.
Id come off multiple picks for maxx crosby in a heartbeat
Definitely give up the draft. The way the bears draft it wouldn't be that big of a loss.
No, don't waste draft picks, Cubs or Bears will NEVER trade their way to success! Better draft picks baby! Take that.
I would trade for a front end OT or pass rusher.
Yes, can’t count on them to make good picks anyway.
No. Lets face it, the 1st rebuild was a failure. This is version 2. Bears are not contenders. Johnson will dump half this roster in the offseason. I hope they trade some high value players and increase day 2 draft capital. Do not draft a punter.
Find a way to win
Ryan poles can't draft talent
Translator? He's been here ten years. LAZY!
Caleb needs to be held accountable!
At first I was like "No — keep our picks!" . Then I was remembered Ryan Poles would be making the picks, so may as well trade 'em away. He will just waste them on a TE4 or P2.
No. They shouldn't do anything until Caleb proves he a franchise quarterback.
I would trade Rick Mirer; sorry meant Caleb Williams the BUST.
Boycott Wrigley Fields now! Da Bears b needin to starts Bagent. Caleb nots trows goods. Defenses needin betta pass rush. Fires CEO an Poles. Take that Cap. Cubbies moves tos Dalton an b Dalton Duds. 🤘🃏🎸🥃🍺🤤🙉🧚🐈⬛🔥😎🌛👍
They need a pass rusher especially with their secondary so banged up.
Nothing ever changes in McCasky World… NOTHING
EVER CHANGES. Bears define INSANITY
New coach seeing progress, just like all of them
QB is the key, just like all of them
New stadium is stalled, just as expected
The Fat Twinkie Guy gets to keep his job, will rebuild as many times as needed McCasky believes in him
Green Bay is better, just like always
What are you fkn crazy kappy why give up Draft capital knowing damn well we ain’t going no where anyway
poles needs to go regardless i dont trust him with another draft
Hold firm, ride the season out get better and wait for free agency
I would for sure field offers for what I could get for Caleb.Dude is not right for this team unfortunately
I'd entertain a trade for a GM
I would trade Ryan Poles for Bozo the clown. Even up!!
Rumor has it that Poles is looking to trade for Claypool again. Even though he’s out of the league.
Bears fan since the Bob Avellini Days (R.I.P.). The Bears gotta beef up that O-line. Caleb Williams is out there dodging defenders like he's in a video game with no blockers. Kid’s got talent for days, but he needs time to cook in the pocket. Right now, defenses got the cheat code: blitz him hard, and he’s likely to force a throw or eat a sack. They’ve gotta protect his confidence like it’s the franchise’s future…because it is. You shake a young QB too early, and it’s tough to rebuild that swagger. Caleb’s development isn’t just important…it’s the whole blueprint. No protection, no progression, and if he’s not ballin’ out, the Bears ain’t going anywhere. Bears Fan Always Kap!
Keep the draft capital. Ben is a smart guy and hes now getting a feel for what this team is and what it needs. I would presume he and Poles will be in lockstep this upcoming offseason and we need the picks to help remain cap compliant in the upcoming years while improving the team. They arent one player away anyways. Dont sell the farm for one chess piece.
A 5th for a corner or edge. Maybe even a 4th and or dj moore for a good edge
We aren’t in the space to be giving up draft capital. We have to see exactly what’s going on at QB as well.
