BLUE JACKETS WIN 4-3 IN OT! Miles Wood Scores the OT Game-Winner! | Postgame Media
All right. What’s the feeling in the locker room after this win? Well, I mean, we we did some really good things obviously early. Um, you know, they pushed and, you know, we were able, again, we’ve talked about this, um, staying in hockey games. Um, yeah. Did we, you know, play consistent for 60 minutes? No, but we hung around. Um, when they pushed, we were able to just hold. So yeah, we feel good obviously about getting two points, but there’s stuff that we can correct. There’s no question about that. Dominated the first. What happened in the second period? Well, I’m sure they got a little bit of heat in between as you know and they came out hard and like I said, we sure did we give up a couple obviously and but we stayed in it and didn’t let it and allow it to get away from us and that’s, you know, something that we’ve talked about and hopefully we can continue to do that. You put Miles Wood out there in overtime. Why did you do that? Well, cuz we knew he was going to score. That’s the coaches always know, right? I mean, whenever it works out, it it looks good for us. But, um, no, I mean, he was having a good night, right? Um, and that’s what that’s what we do when we when we huddle after the game or the game’s over and we huddle as a coaching staff, we talk about stuff like that, right? and we have a card on our cards who we project should go and then you’re like, well, somebody says, you know, well, maybe Woody, maybe maybe someone else is going well. Um, they’re having a night they’re feeling good. Um, so, you know, I think that’s part of coaching. Sometimes you you you guess right and sometimes you don’t. Fortunately, we guessed right tonight. when you put him on that line with Londonstrom and Chinoikov, what you saw tonight, is that exactly what you were hoping to get? Yeah. Um, yeah. I mean, wow. Woody was so physical all night, right? And it just he brings an element and um, you know, not that Reer doesn’t like he plays hard as well. Um, but Woody’s just he’s a big body that just is continually banging and disrupting and getting in on the for check. So, yeah, that line uh had a night. I haven’t looked at the the numbers yet as far as minutes, but um I’m pretty sure it’s pretty even up front. Um but yeah, I mean they were they were real good. What about a night where you lose one of your big guys and Eric at Branson during warm-ups and you have to make a switch and yet you’re still able to power through it and get what you’re looking for. Well, it’s a good point. Like Christensen was, you know, he’s actually working out. Um fortunately, he wasn’t at the hotel or something. Um so he was able to slip in. It’s one of those situations where you get thrown in and you just play. We thought he had a real good night as well. Tell you what, Miles, that’s a pretty triumphant return to the lineup here tonight. I mean, how pleased are you with just getting back in there and then doing exactly what you did tonight. Yeah. Um, you know, it was a great team win for us. Um, you know, we played as a team tonight and certainly showed and uh just happened to be back with the team. I asked you this morning how excited you were to play with Jagger Chinoikov and what kind of a dynamic that brings to your line and right away you go in for checking a puck comes loose and it’s in the back of the net in the first period. Is that kind of what you what you envision if you can just create some havoc there and let a guy like that finish things off? Yeah, he’s a great player. Um you know I’ve sat in the stands the last five games heard and um he’s one player that’s stood out to me a lot and um you know he stepped up again tonight and um it’s great playing with him. And now let’s flip it around to the one he set you up for. the way he held on to that puck. Is that just you going to the front of the net and looking to do what you did, tip it? Yeah, he made a great play on the wall. Um, slowed down the play there and just fortunate enough to get a stick on it. Um, but that play was all him. Let me ask you about the overtime. I mean, you were fighting that puck all the way down the ice. You couldn’t settle it down to save your life and all of a sudden when it goes into the net, it’s off your stick. Were you surprised in the way it all played out? Yeah. Um, it bounced like a like a crazy ball out there. I don’t know why. A bad ice or something? But um just fortunate enough to get the puck there at the end and pass it up to Lundy. Made a great play to Z and then fortunate enough to score the goal there. How big, you talked about this being a big team win, but how big is it here tonight? Yeah, it’s a big win for us. Um you know, the Savers haven’t been playing well as of late. Um you know, we got down there late in the third period and team stuck together and got two goals and got two points, so it’s all that matters. Obviously, you’re from here and you’ve had success over your career against Buffalo. What is it about your like that you had so much success against? Um I’m not sure. Uh I’m not from here actually. I was just happen to be born here. Um but uh my dad spent some time playing here. That’s why I was born here. But um yeah, you know, I don’t know why I always play well in this this spot. Um I don’t know. I guess yeah, it’s been good to me just birthplace. So um yeah, you’ve got 12 goals in 22 career games against the Sabres. Did you know that? Did not know that. I’ll take it. Yeah, it’s a fun stat. What about this game here tonight and getting an opportunity to score early for you? How nice was that? Uh, it’s pretty good. I mean, I like it. I like when I score, I like we win like a team, so it’s great. I just talked with Miles Wood and he told me this morning he was excited to play with you because it’s a it’s a different dynamic on that line. What about you? Were you Were you looking forward to having a player like him on your line tonight? Yeah, for sure. I like that. like he’s so fast. So, I just need to chip the h chip the puck with him. That’s it. Well, chip the puck is one thing, but when you set him up on that goal, you did a great job of holding the puck and showing a little bit of patience there. How did you read that play? I don’t know. I’m just see everybody pull down. So, just wait a little bit. And I saw him drive the net. He played pretty good in front of the net. So, just try the shooting. That’s it. It is a another game here tonight where you guys never panicked. I mean, you got down early and you just got back to playing your game in the third period, didn’t you? Uh, yeah. I mean, we just play the CBG hockey, like play our structure. That’s it. That’s gets us successful. So, now you got to get back right back on the ice tomorrow. Is it uh Does that make you excited though when you pick up the first win in these back to backs? Yeah, every wind it’s it’s it’s good. So, yeah, try to get another one tomorrow.

Let's go!!!
It's so ironic that Dean claims he rewards players for playing well meanwhile Chinakhov has been playing elite level hockey the last three games and hasn't been rewarded for it in the slightest
