Sabres On A Losing Streak Already – Postgame Thoughts & Rant

All right, good evening everybody. Not much to talk about, but let’s talk about it coming up. I hope this camera is recording. I’m having trouble getting my SIM card in it. So, I’m going to gamble. It says it’s recording. I’m going to gamble. It’s going to come out. If not, I’ll give you guys an explanation eventually why there’s been no videos if I got to get a new camera. Oh, what a mess that is. Anyway, the game. Let me talk about the game. My goodness. I missed the first period. I was working today on this holiday. I was still working, guys. I’m not even going to throw the clips up there. Tape scored a goal. That was it. And uh it was a shot literally from the point that went in. And folks, for me, 11 hits in the game. Here we go. Here we go. old habits. Bat on the faceoff, 0 for three in the power play, 11 hits in the game. We were out shot, we were out hit, we were out chanced, out goalended, out everything that I’d say in this game. I mean, we put we did put some pressure on them, which they I found they were they’re they have more blocks than us, but I found they were pretty easy blocks. So, I’m gonna tell you the truth, guys. We can’t afford a season like this. If this is going to be a bad season, okay? Especially our young crowd. We cannot afford this. We can’t afford this. There’s just there’s no more there’s no more margin for error. The Sabres are supposed to have matured now, not just into a playoff team, but into a contender right about now. This is around the year in this rebuild under Adams that something should have happened already. We were forgiving on it the last year or two, but if nothing happens this year, I don’t know. Where do we go from here? I don’t I love this team. I don’t want the city to lose this team in Buffalo. That worries me, you know, but something has to happen. Something has to change. I mean, they they just they can’t continue. They’re going to have to give the fans something. Okay, let’s say it’s a bad year this year. Just if I know it’s only three games in, but I’m worried. We lost our last two preseason season games, too. This is five in a row now in my head. If by chance, all right, this is a bad season and nothing happens and all the negative people are right that under Adams this play, this team’s going nowhere. They’re going to have to. Adams can’t last the season, folks. If this is a nonplayoff team, again, Adams cannot last the season. He has to go. Okay, I’ll be the first to say it. I liked some of his drafts. I like some of his trades. Mind you, he was forced into those trades. Some of his signings I thought were stupid. That Taylor Hall was dumb. Um, Stall wasn’t a very good signing. There’s been a few things that I Yeah, but they were kind of rookie mistakes as a GM, too, you know. But my goodness, if the team is bad this year, let’s say really bad under 500 all year and just not a not even like a sniff of a playoff hunt or nothing. We’ve got to make changes. We can’t sit still. And I don’t know, will they will they they think the fans don’t exist. I’ll tell you what I I mean all the fans in Buffalo can contest and pull out their season tickets and everything. I don’t know if Pagula will even keep I don’t trust the guy at this point, you know. Will he keep them in Buffalo? This I worry about these kind of things. It’s I do. But it’s like we can’t have a bad season now. We can’t like start. I know it’s only 0 and three. I don’t want to overreact, but my goodness, this makes me worried, folks. What are we going to do? Mr. PL by point say if only we didn’t start 0 and5. Look, we got Ottawa. Okay. Then we got Florida. Then we’re at Montreal. I mean, will the season be over by the Montreal game? That’s it. Adams, wake up. Make a move. Don’t just sit in your desk doing your plastic smile thing. Do something. And let’s face it, folks, are Darlene, Tuck, and Tage going to want to stick around for this? This is discouraging. Okay. I was expecting this year maybe a good start really why not you know but right now it’s like cold reality setting in and this is beyond this is beyond the pura what’s going on with our offense. It’s way beyond it. There’s something wrong that of course we’re not gonna we can speculate and guess and but there’s something very wrong with this franchise when you got this much talent and you can’t stop losing. You got a goalie that’s that I I I don’t want to say anything about today but you you got a goalie in the first two games that you know cuz I didn’t see enough of this game to be honest guys. I just did it with work and everything and I forgot it was an afternoon game even by the time I got into watching some of it. I I watched some then tenants called me and it was just, you know, but what did I really miss here? Another loss where we all we got was one goal. That goal that Ta got, that’s it. It’s it’s I won’t say discouraging. It’s shocking is what it is for me. I’ve been discouraged for years with the team guys, you know, but I was also, you know, I would say skeptical with a lot of things like like you guys skeptical with some stuff, but also try to look at a positive outlook versus rounders. Whitewash the team starting over all this. We we can’t afford another start over. No, it’ll kill the franchise. it will kill the franchise. We need to get a GM in here who’s going to make take action right away. Not a guy who who under pressure doesn’t really know what he’s doing. That’s what Adams feels like right now. And I don’t want to I don’t want to jump all over Adams. I because I find if we get another guy in here, which we have, let’s face it, you know, Kalan’s here, guys. So if we have another voice you know cuz people will anything good that’s happening there people saying it’s kacalan okay so all this bad that’s happening then it must be kacalan also the bad can’t be Adams and the good kacalan it just stop like come on we’re not in grade two but something has to shift here the owner’s not going to sell the team. So for you know the people say sell the team Terry wake up. I don’t know what planet you’re living on. It’s not going to happen ever till he’s dead. You know this is his favorite toy. Believe it or not people say it’s the Bills. No that the Bills is the money maker and the big big you know but the Sabers are were his original toy. He’s not going to let him go. So, and the truth is I honestly don’t believe it’s the pigulas that are the main issue right now. It it’s it’s Adams not having a sense of urgency. We couldn’t afford an 0 and3 start this year. We just couldn’t my opinion. We we can’t afford this. The the these luxuries are for like four years ago. Not now. Now, we can’t be in the same boat having a worse start than we’ve had in years. We We’re not Those luxuries are gone. They’re gone. There’s no time left. People are fed up. People have caught on. People are not going to spend their money. Look at the fans went out and supported them. The the season opener, that might be it. people, you know, they’re they’re going to start getting like 78,000 a game in Buffalo because people have had enough with a nothing happening franchise. So, Pagoula, if by chance you even spot this video, get off your ass and be an owner, a proper owner, and start making changes where you got to make them because, you know, if this continues for 82 games, what do you expect? Do you expect the fans to buy jerseys and support the franchise when they’re embarrassed by them? That’s not realistic. It’s not a realistic thing. It’s just not It’s not realistic. That’s like the Twilight Zone, the thinking. It’s not It’s not right. It’s not It’s not going to happen. So, the Sabers right now, guys, I’ve got to get something going and they show no signs of it. Unless I’m missing something. They show no signs of waking up right now. They might start 015. I mean, we’ve got Yeah, we’ve got to get something cooking here soon because if the Sabres start like 2 and 8 or something, my goodness, what are we going to do? I mean, all we’re going to hear is the cheap cheap ass jokes all around the league again and rightfully so, unfortunately. about how the team’s a joke and Buffalo fans deserve better and all the, you know, the jokes that are going to go on out there. But I’m worried, folks. I’m worried about the state of the franchise more than I am the season right now. I’m I’m I’m worried that this team could be in dire straits very soon if if things don’t change. And they’ve got to change soon, guys. They’ve got to change soon. We can’t afford to open the season on a six-game losing streak before we wake up. We had we had opportunities out there to hire different people and we haven’t done it. We haven’t done it. I I can’t believe a guy like Pugula can have so much money and be so stupid. Really? Hey, how can the guy be a billionaire and be an idiot when it comes to hockey knowledge? How can he not see the things we see that’s wrong with the team? If I was GM of this team and they threw 11 hits in a game, I’ i’d go into the dressing room and start throwing garbage cans. I’d lose my mind. Lose my mind. I would go into the dressing room and lose my my mind on the team. Really, I’d force them to play short-handed for a game to teach him a lesson. That’s what I’d do. I’d tell the coach, “You’re fired. If if I see five guys on the ice next team, I want four.” Like, just teach them a lesson. Enough. Enough. enough with with giving 75 80% enough. It’s it’s it’s it’s you know it’s turning into a rant right now. But my god, we can’t do this to the fans another year. There’s just you know, I’m leaving it there. I’m going to try and calm down. I’ve had enough to say. I don’t want to be negative, guys, but I’m I’m so frustrated right now as a fan. I love this team and I feel like I love this team more than the owner does, more than a general manager does. You know, I won’t say more than Lindy. That’s not right to say. Lindy was dealt a hand and tried to take it and turn it into something and and um once it starts looking good, we get a bunch of injuries. But, you know, when you’ve been a soft team, the softest, let’s face it, we were the the wussiest team in the league for years before the last year or two where we kind of shifted and started hitting a bit more. We’re the worst team in hockey when it comes to physical play, folks. A team like that gets injured more. That’s what’s happening. Teams will take liberties on you if you have no toughness. I’m I’m going to drop it there. I’m done. I’m frustrated. I’m um kind of in shock this is going on again. Really? Some people say, “Wayne, you should have seen this coming.” Yeah, possibly. But no, I refuse to believe this team is just going to sit back and roll over and play dead. But we’ve got to get the right people in charge. Okay. And um they start 0 and six and and if Kevin Adams still has a job, what are we supposed to do? Right. So, I’m frustrated tonight as you can tell. I’m leaving it there. This time I mean it. Guys, have a good night. I’ll see you soon. Have a good night. [Music]

In this video all I really discuss is the current state of the team more than todays game which I missed 50% of..we cannot continue like this..we just cant and I am praying things change soon 😡😡

  1. Does Adams fire Ruff soon to save his job? Ex Dallas and Vegas head coach Peter Deboer is still looking for a job but it will be a race to hire him. Will Pegula let him do it? Hopefully Pegula will wake up and fire Adams very soon and give the job to Kekalainen! Both Pegula and Adams are idiots for trading for Norris with his injury history!
Sorry Wayne I disagree, Pegula doesnt care about the Sabres , if he did he wouldve hired an experienced GM years ago and the playoff drought wouldve never reached 14 years!

  2. Sabres need a shake up. If I was Pegula I'd give Adams 5 games. If play and effort remain the same I'd fire Adams. If I were GM Jarmo Kekalainan I'd give Coach Ruff 15 games. If play remains the same I'd fire Ruff and assistant coaches. Sabres fans…. I've been watching Lindy in the NHL since 1980. If he can't get this group going I'm not sure who can. The Sabres players are an enigma.

  3. I don't think anyone can afford sports anymore. How leverage potential disappointments on top of so many other things. Sabres players are not serious. The conditioning is not serious. The post season these guys should becoming MONSTERS. Absolutely 1000% ready to go or resigned to history already. Nobody should have injuries a few weeks in. You should be strong enough by your post season conditioning to be able to last a few weeks. The SEASON should feel like a REST from your post season training. When soldiers are preparing for war they train like dogs. Which is what sport in reality replaces, armed conflict with agreeable sport. Instead of dying you lose. It's the reason sport was invented. To settle scores an easier way. We are lost here. It's simply as conditioning, sabres are being outplayed. They needed more to do in the off season simple as that.

  4. The thing with Pagula and keeping the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo. He will be DESTROYED, in this town if he removes one Team and not the other. Him building this stadium is shackling himself to the city for the foreseeable future. Fans will make every single breath he takes here unbearable if in fact he moves the Sabres and not also the Bills. Nobody will trust him and all fan confidence will be gone. So it would be in his best interest to move heaven and earth and drill maybe 6 more wells instead of moving the team.

  5. Is Jason Woolley unattached have a discussion with him & his representative anything is better than frumpy franchise all the ladies will be sickened by the showings this season.😇

  6. I've been putting off commenting. I said at the beginning in if the team goes 0-4-0 (which it seems like is going to happen) is gonna erupt this fanbase. In all honestly, I thought our uncertainty if we start losing, was our goal tending, but that's been our one strong point. The team started off playing like a high school team. I feel that Tage is more frustrated than anyone. Dahlin making a major mistake, and it feels that Tage is the only one that can score. When the coaching staff stress defensive play and the team can't score(2 in 3 games), and yet still give up 11 goals then our defensive game isn't there either. Thing is, Tage says he is mad that ppl are angry that its only 3 games into the season, its because we see major mistakes and no compete at all.

  7. How do people blame Ruff?
He didn't draft any of the players he's stuck with, and they didn't let him bring any of his assistant coaches. Notice how the first draft that he's involved with we draft bigger players than Krueger and Granato. You could bring in any coach in the league's history, and this team is going nowhere.

  8. Starting the season injured isn't easy. You work all summer, each guy has a role, then half of them get injured. In come the young guys. I'm not making excuses for them, I'm just saying. Lyon has been a beacon of light. He's not letting in easy goals. Dahlin is our only defenseman out there working. They need to get their shit together and quickly. BUT think about it, our first few games are tough teams, who are healthier and more ready for the season. Half our team is 2nd stringers right now, who absolutely weren't ready for McKinnon, Makar, Landeskog, Colton. 0-3 against really good teams isn't reason to panic.

  9. It’s absolutely incredible KA still has a job as of this morning even. Fire this clown while it’s 0-3 and not 0-8 or 0-9 which is absolutely where this is headed. The team is clearly sending a message upstairs. Maybe for once Terry can listen.

It isn’t injuries. Injuries don’t make a team play exclusively on the perimeter and make business decisions all over the ice. It isn’t an accident Tuch didn’t resign either. I think there’s a lot of players who feel like their ship has finally come.

  10. 2:40 Under PEGULA, this team is going nowhere. He bought the Sabres in 2011, and that's when the drought started. It can't be a coincidence. I'm not being negative, I'm just being realistic at this point. I tried to defend Pegula for a lot of years, but I can't do it anymore. He's not a problem. He is THE problem. Our only hope is him selling the team to someone competent and that actually gives a s***. Unfortunately, TP ain't selling the team. We're simply f***ed.

  11. Sadly, as much as I'd love to blame Adams, in today's NHL big names are NOT reaching the UFA market. Cant' sign what's not available. Still, I can see some good things. A shortened pre-season means some things won't get on track quite as quickly. We're getting good goaltending at the moment, maybe it's time they went on offense.

  12. How do you make the playoffs? You mimick florida panthers style of hockey. The sabres aren't even close to that. All areas need fast improving. Tuch is another part of the problem. Trade him while he might still have some value. Norris is made of glass and was a bad trade. Here we go again. People need to boycott the arena and stop buying merchandise until they do something.

  13. Sabres owe you money for covering them after all these abysmal years. You have my full respect and will always be here to support and get your point of view.

  14. I am 22 years old now, and the last time the Sabres made the playoffs, I was 7. Last time they advanced at all in the playoffs, I was 3. I wish I could remember those days…

  15. I understand missing the beginning of the game with the work schedule and all, but unfortunately, you missed the best period of the season in my opinion. The concerning part for me is not all of the off ice stuff, which is more than legitimate….but the fact that the Sabres got worse as the game went along. The third period was light-years away from what they needed in terms of making a late-game push. They need to win on Wednesday night. I think we'll see an energetic group. Play a hard-nosed 60 minutes of hockey against a division foe, do the little things well in order to come out on top, and we'll go from there.
