Marco Sturm Reacts to Bruins’ Rally Win 5-2 Over Islanders
Marco, we talked last night after the difficult loss to Ottawa up in Ottawa. A chance to learn from that game, but a chance to put it behind you. You come back out, you play less than 24 hours. You wanted to play Bruins hockey. What did you appreciate about your victory over the Islanders tonight? Yeah, just the effort. I I think it was not easy. Um like you said, tough one yesterday. Um um but you know, I was looking actually forward to it today. Um guys were dialed in right right away. even uh you know they were they were they were waiting for us for a few days here uh the Islanders you could tell in the first period but we uh we stuck with it uh and uh I think after second period we we kind of looked like Bruins hockey right there. Yeah. Could you get that sense that they weren’t going to be bothered even though you went down two nothing in the first 5 minutes? Yeah. The message was actually uh you know we just we just had that script uh that uh with Colorado right that came on fire too uh uh put us on our heels a little bit um and uh and then we came back in the second period for a couple goals and I think exactly that happened today. I know you get Hampus Lynholm on the back end and that’s a big boost. Uh but you tweaked your back end. You got a guy in there playing his first, you know, NHL game in Asparo, but you also tweaked your forward line combinations and you tweaked them during the game. What was the thought process there? What we were trying to get from those different combinations? Yeah, I know. Uh, starting with the D, we just, uh, yeah, with Mason out, we we moved the Z up. I thought they were really, really good. It should be our shutdown, uh, pair, uh, with Hampers and Peak. So, we have four really, really good uh, solid D who can play against the big boys. And Asprey was excellent. I thought he was great. He he played exactly the way we wanted him to play. He played exactly like in preeason and the forward lines. Yeah. No, I I I wanted to see u see how they respond from last night and then I thought, you know what? Um let’s go back to like the way we finished uh last night um with Cuz up with uh you know with Lindy and uh Pasta and I think what that makes it just I don’t know. I feel better about that. Lastly, I just wanted you give me one or two comments about uh because it was really important. Had his fingerprints all over the win today, and that was your goalending and your special team. Yeah. No. Uh Corby uh I think it was a second period. Uh Horvad had a half breakaway and um uh or full breakaway and uh the rebound. That that was that was huge. That was huge for us. That kept us in the game. um and and the lead and uh yeah, no, special teams, we we know they they’re they’re good. It’s a good power play. Um so we know when we get a chance, we can we can score and uh PK they responded well well as well. Great win. Thanks for your time. Thank you.
