  1. Going to be fun to watch how Trey does tonight. First start on the road in the post-season.

  2. Major props to the jays. To a lot of teams that 18 inning marathon loss would be a back breaker. Tough game 5 tonight you know Snell will be looking to bounce back big time.

  3. I generally regard any series that goes at least 6 a “good” World Series for neutral viewers. This is a good world series.

  4. “Boss, I’m tired. Please.”

    — Louis Varland’s Right Arm

Seriously though, he needs to not pitch tonight. He is obviously tired, they’ve seen too much of him, and he has not been effective.

  5. With the caveat that I might be overthinking this, I’m a little concerned for the Blue Jays tonight.

In 1986, Mike Scott, not Dwight Gooden, was the doctor of baseball. He threw a 14 K, 5 hit shutout in Game One of the NLCS and followed that up with a 3 hit, 1 run complete game in Game Four. Though Houston lost the other three games, they had “Scotty Tomorrow” signs in the Astrodome for Game Six — the implication being that if they could somehow hold off the Mets that afternoon, they were essentially guaranteed the pennant the next day.

I have to imagine Yamamoto on Friday looms *heavily* in the Toronto coaching staff’s plans, which means they probably are inclined to throw the kitchen sink at the Dodgers tonight. I don’t always think breaking up what you normally do to try anything (especially with bullpen) is the best choice. I hope they, while being cautious with Yesavage, don’t try to get cute and pull him after 2 1/3, gambling that all their guys can come in *whenever* and get the outs they need. You don’t want Trey to get mashed and stay in too long, but there’s a reason he’s a starter, and once the starter goes, you’re really relying on three, four, or even five players to be at their best. That’s a lot of variance.

  6. One of the stats of the game was that there were only 3 XBHs last night.

Ohtani pitched fine, only Roberts mistake was maybe letting him face Clement after the first hit.

On the Schneider side of things, didnt like him going to Varland in the 9th, he seems gassed.

  7. Maybe just maybe, walking Ohtani everytime is a dumb strategy and an overreaction to 1 dominant game.

Walk him everytime, and even if he doesn’t score in those innings, the lineup turns around to the top of the order for the 9th instead of being able to end the game with him on deck

  8. The Blue Jays just come across as a much more balanced team against the Dodgers. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman is about as dangerous as you can get but so far everyone else has seemed rather toothless.

  9. Shohei looked exhausted on the mound after 4th inning. Not sure about Robert’s decision to let him pitch past 5th. But then Shohei would have insisted on going back out there for 6th and 7th to give the bullpen a rest. I love him for wanting to play for his team but he needed to give himself a break yesterday.

  10. Probably this series will be defined tonight. Jays have a higher chance of winning game 7 (dodgers depends more of their pitchers) and game 6 dodgers have an advantage with yamamoto pitching.

  11. >I think this is a quote from Herb Brooks, but we are a team of uncommon men,” third baseman [Ernie Clement](https://www.tsn.ca/mlb/player/ernie-clement/915732) said. “I think a normal team would’ve folded today, and we’re not normal. I think we’re the best team in baseball, and we got out of bed today with our hair on fire and ready to play.

Would go to war for Ernie.

  12. These Jays are truly a menace on offense

He was perfectly okay and 6IP 4ER isn’t backbreaking, but the fact that that’s arguably the second best effort any of the Dodger’s rotation of doom have had so far is kind of nuts

  13. The Blue Jays lineup is a handful.

Yamamoto will start one of the remaining games.

I’ll be very surprised if this doesn’t go seven games.

  14. “YOU SEE! HES NOT A MACHINE, HES A MAN”. Jays have to keep that mentality next time they face Yamamoto.

  15. Tonight feels 95% like a must-win game for the Jays. Being down 3-2 and going against Yamamoto again would not be ideal. Need to take care of business tonight and give themselves some breathing room in game 6.

  16. God I’ve been in the “ just happy to be here” mindset all week , but now that it actually seems like we have a shot I’m starting to get very nervous. Just two more fucking wins 🙂
