They had such a good return on Patrick Peterson they wanted to bring on the sequel.
What is our obsession with getting corners well past their prime? Especially when we insist on running man so frequently?
I don’t think you remember how bad Ross Cockrell was.
Though he was a fan favorite around here for some reason.
Can’t believe this defense is so bad that we look fondly on the Antwon Blake, Ross Cockrell, and Mike Mitchell days
Fucking Cock Rossrell.
Old CBs need to be moved to safety if they want to continue playing. CB requires more speed, ability, quickness and twitchiness. Not saying Slay Weill be as good, but this is what Rod and Charles Woodson did later in their career to extend it when they lost a step.
Ross Cockrell was solid though. I don’t get the point of throwing money at clearly washed up vets. Corner is one of the few positions where once a player looks like he’s lost a step, he’ll never get it back. And it’s a position where one player sucking ruins an entire unit. Let’s overhaul the defensive staff and throw darts at db’s. Even if we miss 75% of those draft picks, better than a guaranteed expensive failure
Eagles fan here (I’m on this sub because I live in Pittsburgh and my wife is a Steelers fan so I watch every single Steelers snap every season): love Slay for what he’s done but he’s old as hell for a corner. His last two seasons have been good and have defied the odds due to his age and he was primed to finally drop off. That’s how it goes with CBs, they lose their legs from one season to the next once they’re old.
What I’m saying is that it was a WILD move from the Steelers front office to sign him and Ramsey. Two old, slow corners on the downslope of their careers is not a good combination at a position that falls off a cliff with age.
Would someone please enlighten as to which plays specifically are causing everyone to think Slay is dogshit?
Austin’s scheme is the problem. The defense is always looking confused.
They were confused on the 1st play from Green Bay.
I’m sure Tomlin had nothing to do with any of this. He’s just a victim of circumstance.
Yeah swing and a miss by Khan. Slay seems like nice dude but at this point he’s a mercenary trying to do his job albeit poorly. Father Time undefeated.
It would be one thing if it was just his wheels, but apparently his give a fuck is gone, too.
When DBs lose a step, it’s over. Thats why it was over for him in Philly but that FO got caught up on name recognition. Same point with Ramsey. Ramsey can at least hit but can’t cover like they thought
That’s Super Bowl champion Ross Cockrell to you sir.
Man I cannot wait for Tomlin to be gone atp
He’s trash! It’s like we need at least one Ike Taylor/Artie Burns player per year that is capable of getting torched almost every down.
If a corner is halfway to claiming social security they should probably lean towards not signing them. Good career overall but he’s over the hill.
Horrible, way past his prime, deserves to be benched
