Jayson Tatum discussed traveling with the Celtics, waving to fans in the crowd in new 1-on-1: “It’s tough. I love to play, I love to compete….I’m not able to play, but I can be out there. And, maybe I can make somebody’s day if I wave at them.”

  1. It made my day thinking about Tatum waving at someone and making their day

    Mission accomplished

  2. Will never get why people think Tatum as corny. He is obviously a great guy and I hope to see him back on the court at 100%

  3. I’m always glad when a celebrity understands their outsize power to make someone’s day better with a small gesture. Pleased to see Tatum is one of them.

  4. I was pleasantly surprised to see him at the home opener, expecting that would be the last we’d see of him until he was closer to returning. I’m elated to see him traveling with the team for early season Detroit to New Orleans back to backs. I can’t recall many if any players doing this during a long term injury.

I think just having a player of Tatum’s caliber around to get advice from is probably huge for the young guys and Tatum obviously loves being around the team.

  5. He just gets it. I feel like a lot of nba players today are just there for themselves, to get paid way more than guys from the past, have the luxury of sitting out games more because of science and even get encouragement from their own team to sit out games. Feels like a lot of players don’t even attempt to interact with their fans like before.

Something as simple as waving, shaking a kid’s hand can be a memory that lasts for them because they look up to these players.

Glad we have JT as our superstar and representing the Celtics.

  6. You guys think he makes the west coast trip when the Celtics come to Sacramento in January?

  7. Nothing to see here. Just yet another example why our MVP is the top of the league.
