Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Commanders | Week 9 Game Preview

Seattle Seahawks wings are rested, hopefully all healed up after a week off. They fly east to Washington to take on the Commanders, who also need some healing this week. Otherwise, their season may get away from them. Here’s Samuel and it’s off his hands and picked off. Marcus Mariota was pumpkin jack on Christmas Eve versus Kansas City, so Washington has to hope that someone took out OogieOogie this week and freed Jaden Daniels so he can save the day. Washington’s offense sputtered to seven points versus KC. Only made it past the Chiefs 20 twice. Mariota picked off twice. Finished with a low7s rate. Mario just trying to make a play here late, scrambling right through his back crossplay and that is picked off. He only took two sacks on 30 pass attempts. Had Debo and Scary Terry too should be noted in Daniel’s starts 18 points 21 22 24 and 27. That’s 22 per game on average. Angels has to step out and barely is able to get out of the end zone. He is set. But he’s only played two games with McLaren and Debo present, first two of the year. Seattle’s defense gets it. They too have had to deal with lots of hurt guys. And still they’ve gotten stronger and stronger as weeks pass. Held their last two opponents to 19 and 12 points, under 21 points, six of seven games. Third and 13 could be a nightmare against this crew. Shroud is back paddling. He’ll be dropped. secondary holding quarterbacks to a nice low 84 rating to just 6.4 yards per attempt and only 9.9 yards per completion. Josh Job has held his targets to a 58 rate. Kobe Bryant 62. And that’s a low throw there. I think he threw that ball in the on purpose otherwise that would have been intercepted by the safety. McLaren made two amazing catches in his return last week. One for a TD 54 yds when it was over on three catches. Just lobs it up for McLaren. Did he get him down? Touchdown. Debo took a brick to the face mask. In this case, it was a ball that led to one of Mariota’s interceptions. Just 11 yardds on six targets. Tight end Zack Z 16 yardds, six targets. The only other guy last week with more than 24 receiving yards. Running back Jeremy McNichols, who led them with 64, has a receiver wide open. Catch is made. That’s McNichols. And a big game. Whoever starts has a fierce pass rush on their hands. Seattle’s Byron Murphy four and a half bags. Leonard Williams three, Demarcus Lawrence three, Luchenna and Wosu leads them with five. They have 23 sacks total, top five pressure rate, and they rarely blitz. Lawrence is trying to run, but they close fast. They’ve been doing a really good job. No blind spots with the Hawks defense. That front not just good at planting quarterbacks, holding runners to 3.3 yards per carry, rush attacks to 75 per game. Those are elite digits. Ernest Jones, their tackles leader with 59. And no, tries the right side and was stopped behind the line. Ran into a blue wall there. Washington’s rush attack absent in their loss to Kansas City. Jakori Kroski Merritt 25 yds, 2.8 a carry, has been under four a run, three straight games, under 34 yards backto back games. Commander defense also comes in dazed and confused. Gave up 28 points to the Chiefs. They’re allowing 24 a game. So it fit they’ve given up 24 plus six of eight games. Mahomes out to his right back across for the touchdown to Hunt. Their secondary allowing a 104.9 rate only three teams worse. No team giving up more than 8.4 yds per attempt. They picked off Mahomes twice last week too. Was looking good early but ended up letting him throw for three touchdowns, 299 yards, rating over 100. three possessions, three Mahomes touchdown passes to three different receivers. Gave up 99 yards to Travis Kelce, 93 to Rashid Rice. So, how are they going to stop Jackson Smith and Jigba? No disrespect to Sammy D, but JSN is the face of that offense at this point. The NFL’s top receiver. Every team knows he’s there. Everyone knows Darnold is looking for him almost every pass attempt. And it makes no difference. And right for the end zone and scoring and dunking is Jackson Smith and Jigba TD in his last three games, five 100 plus yard games, 120 plus his last three, 79 is his low. He leads the NFL with 117 yards per game and folding one down the middle and Smith has it. Touchdown Seahawks. Darnold hit their buy off a dud versus Houston. So had time to Al Puchccino that action. had four 110 plus rate games in a row prior. 250 yards per game on average, 12 touchdowns, four interceptions, a fat 109 rate. Top shelf stuff. Darnold on the move. Darnold throws and he’s got him in. Touchdown. Forget about it. When he does throw to someone other than JSN, it’s usually to Cooper Cup. 41 yards per game to keep DBs honest. Sort of. And they gave him 10 for a first down. And here’s number 10, Cooper Cup. Tight end AJ Barner 30 yards per game, four touchdowns. And wide open AJ Barner inside the 15 yd line. Tory Horton three TDs as well. Hawks offense a healthy 27 points per game. Could improve moving the sticks, but top 10 good in the red zone. Darnold floats it open man. It’s a touchdown. And how about their O line? 12elves, used to seeing their quarterbacks dumped on a regular basis the last few years, are on cloud9. With a group that’s only allowed nine sacks all season, it’s good stuff when your quarterback only faces pressure 29% of the time, too. Look at the time. Going deep and he’s got him. Oh, what a beauty. Washington did at least sack Mahomes three times, but Jeranne Newton tisk tisk. You don’t bring a pillow to lay Patrick down on when you tackle him. That’s on you, my friend. Yeah, I mean, it wasn’t a lot. And Dan Quinn can only shake his head. Commander pass rush top 10 in sacks for 2025. Those guys up front have struggled versus the run as of late, though. Momes, Kareem Hunt, and Isaiah Pacheco all hit at 4.4 or better against them last week. They had a Pacheco and he gets the edge and gets 11. That’s four games in a row they’ve given up 145 or more rush yards. Kenneth Walker up next. He’s cracked 80 plus yards three times. 64 yards per game, 4.5 yards per carry. Walker finds a hole. There he goes into the secondary. He has three touchdowns. Zack Charbanet has five. Washington up 13-10 overall against Seattle. Three playoff meetings. 2012, the battle of the rookie phenoms. Only one made it out unscathed. Unfortunately, 3 has captivated this city. We know he’s not 100%. He’s playing with a big leg brace on his right knee. Their quarterback entered the playoffs hobbled. Robert looking over the middle. Touchdown. That quarterback put the ball right on the money to him. Good play to the right. RG3 rolling. Rolling pumps, fires, dropped. He stopped his body and he had to stop abruptly. Now we swing. Yep. You feel me? Now we swinging. Let go. Now he’s going to let it fly downfield. They like the deep pass. Garson is down here and so is Earl who picks it off with the 25 on the ground. It’s still on the ground. The Seahawks get in there. I think they recover. They do. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music]

  2. Jayden is in but McLaurin is back out. Washington should have held him out until this game as they probably weren't going to win in KC anyways.

They will have to get that run game going against the best run D in the NFL which doesn't sound good so Jayden will probably need to be Superman to win. The only good thing is that he looked like he was out of the brace in practice. That brace held him back a lot
