Charlie McAvoy Shares Frustrations After Bruins 6th Straight Loss

But this is devastating uh the way we’re losing these games. It’s just it’s it’s killing us. We’re we’re fighting so hard and we just can’t stop beating ourselves. So it’s it’s Yeah, it’s pretty defeating uh right now. Is there a miscommunication on the the game winner? Yeah. Is there a um guys like yourself who’ve been here a while, is there like a body of knowledge that you all share that you can as leaders try to get through this the rest of this room and keep everybody on the same page and to fight your way out of this whole thing right now? I mean, you try like but you know those things, you know, you have some of that in the bank, right? But the reality is every year is a new year. Um, and you know those experiences, they don’t just automatically win you a damn thing. So, we’re trying to get this group together. We’re trying to, you know, lean on that. But, it’s a new group. We have to create that confidence in here and that winning mindset with who we have now and what this group is. Um, the only way to do that is to win and to do it the right way. So, we’re finding ways to to do the opposite right now. Morgan talked about how that a year ago that what you guys went through kind of hovers over it because you saw the consequences of of struggling. Is that tough when guys did not feel like here we go again when when when you’re struggling? I mean it’s terrible that that’s you know sort of the the mindset because not too long ago all these games were we’re going to win these games. um you know and you can sort of see with the group right now it’s it’s uh it’s the opposite. So um you don’t just change that overnight. The only way to do that is to keep just you got to win games. Those are deposits in the bank. Okay, this group we know how to win. We’ve done it. We’ve done it. Done it. Like the only thing they can the only way to do that is to win hockey games. the teams that I’ve been on, the best teams, we we won games whether we were up, down a few, in between, anything like you just felt like you could win. But that was because we did it. We won games. This group, we could be so close to having those already this year with how we fought and came back. We know we’re we know we fight. That’s great, but we just can’t find a way to even get the point right now or we give it up right right as soon as we get it. So, we got to find a way to change it. Charlie, how do you guys make sure that that fight doesn’t slip when the results aren’t coming? Well, that’s I mean, we got to our energy on the bench. I don’t think there’s there’s no quit. We try and stay vocal when when things are, you know, when things go bad there. Um, someone’s going to go out and make a play. You got to believe that. Um, you know, and we did it. But, you know, it didn’t didn’t last long. Again, outside of being injured, is this the most frustrated you’ve been with just the totality of where things sit? Honestly, every year things change. Like I don’t remember half the experiences I’ve had and I’ve been doing this for 9 years now. You live in the moment. I I honestly I’m I’m being 100% like I can’t remember much. You if you’re not present, then I don’t know where you are. So, I can tell you I’m pretty frustrated right now and I’m upset and and that is what it is. But it’s on us to get ourselves out of it. It’s the only thing that matters now. There’s there’s nothing that’s going to save us from, you know, what we’ve accomplished in the past. What are some of the things that you think you need to clean up as a team in order to avoid that? Everything. Everything. We are trying so hard. We’re trying even on the last goal. Like we want to do the right thing. We want to go pressure the puck, the man-on man. Like we just want it so bad that we’re we’re getting in our own way. We’re doing too much. We’re not doing it the right way. Like we’re just we want it. You can see it how we fight when we go down. We want it. We’re dying to win it here. Like we’re close every single game and we just can’t find a way to get over the hump. But we’re right there. So, you know, dam will break sooner or later.

Charlie McAvoy spoke on his frustrations after the Bruins’ sixth straight loss, as well as the impact it’s having on the team as a whole.

  1. Pick up your sticks and play like it’s the last game of your life every night guys!!!!! Get out there the next few games and play like a unstoppable force as of today pls!!!!

  2. I watch mcavoys' game.. he has re – gressed. You should grow from previous mistakes… he isnt doing that. Overall, the Bruins' lack a high hockey IQ… they are not a smart team.. they play dumb hockey.

  3. the other night was so draining..this game they bring out that poor girl, emma, which made me misty and then they lose another one after they grind back in it. these games are emotionally draining.

  4. C . Mcvoy %$&:!÷ $$$ucks on defense! That last goal.. he is all turned around.. not squaring up his man… its basic hockey defense 101… their defensemen $$$uck!!!

  5. Most overrated d man in the NHL.
And it's not all on Korpi, Sway has lost his share too (3).
Team is toast, 9 gms in.
    Fire Sweeney & Cam.
Trade McAvoy, Zacha & Pasta. Start from the basement under a new management group.

  6. From a GAA standpoint, this group is one goal shy of the worst defenses in the league. So if they cannot play a proper defensive style, what's the alternative? Undefeated Colorado on the way! BTW, it's good to see one of their highest-paid players owning up to the situation. He doesn't look into the mic- just presents a feeling of frustration. They should have their core in front of the mic after every game.

  7. McAvoy is so frigging overrated. Can't score when we were told he's the next Ray Bourque, & quite weak on the defensive end. Gets turned around frequently, & responsible on many occasions for being scored on. Trade him while he's overrated & other teams think he's a star.

  8. The bottom line is Sweeney devastated this team last year. He gave away good players and replaced them with middling players that cost a lot of money. They only have two quality NHL defensemen and one of them is hurt. Jokiharu is mediocre at best. Peeke is a third pair guy but he’s being forced to play up because the rest suck. They say Lohrei is young and learning but I don’t see it. He’s 24 years old and has been here for two years but he’s making the same mistakes over and over again. Zadorov has improved a bit over last year. He’s not taking as many stupid penalties. He’s hitting a lot but in doing so is taking himself out of plays sometimes. He is moving the puck better too. Still, he’s very expensive for what he does. In my opinion, McAvoy has largely been out there by himself with Lindholm on the shelf. He can’t do it all and there’s no one that can cover when he screws up. Forwards, they have one line and a half. The rest are fourth line players playing over their heads with the exception of Kastelic who does his job well on the fourth line. It’s going to be a long year.

  9. Coming from a true Bruins fan..This guy can’t be serious. He needs to look in the mirror and figure more than a few things out.
#1: Get that horrible attitude out of there.. that’s a real virus to the team spirit. True leaders like Marchand create that optimism.
#2: Learn how to play real defense and don’t worry about going across the ice to make a cheap hit on someone.. Stay home and protect the net
#3: This is perfect example why he should never wear the C. The best leaders take all the blame and give away all the credit.. he blames everyone except himself.

Trade this guy for a whatever you can get and cut your losses
