The Tennessee Titans’ that could be on the move NEXT
The Tennessee Titans are widely regarded as sellers at the November 4th trade deadline, which is right around the corner. And this week, as of recording this, they have now traded two guys, two quarterbacks, two young cornerbacks, Jarvis Brownley Jr. and Roger McCreary, for day three pick swaps. Now, with those guys gone, and McCreary being the latest, who’s left? Who else could potentially be gone from this Titans team? And who’s not even remotely available? Let’s talk about what we could see between now and the deadline. [Music] If you’re part of the Tennessee Faithful, you know just how many years the Titans have shaved off your life with the emotional roller coaster of sports. Or maybe the roller coaster of life is messing with your happiness or preventing you from achieving your goals. The new year is a blank space for you to write a new story. All right, off the top, let’s talk about the guys that aren’t getting traded. Uh there was a report from Adam Shfter that Cam Ward was not going to be traded per a source. Thank you source. Very insightful. The Titans in fact are not interested in trading the first overall pick two months into his career. They’re also not interested in trading Jeffrey Simmons who is a in their eyes a foundational piece of this roster. A guy that they want to keep cost controlled and under contract and a part of the team. And I think it’s fair to say that if you’re tearing a roster down to the studs or in this case, I guess to the foundation, you still have to have something you build around on each side of the ball. Cam Ward, obviously, what you’re building around on the offensive side. Jeffrey Simmons is a pretty good tent pole to build around on defense. You can’t not I mean, you got to field a team, right? So, you got to have some difference makers and they can’t all be rookies either. That being said, who else is off the table? I don’t think many of the Titans offensive linemen are particularly available, right? Like JC Laam’s not getting moved. Dan Moore in that contract aren’t getting moved. Peter Saransky is not getting moved. Lloyd Kushenberry, I’d be shocked. Really, the only guy there that might could be moved is Kevin Zitler, the right guard. I just don’t know what the market for him would be, but I think the Titans have some guys in the wings that could take over in a replacement levelish capacity for him. It’s all about protecting Kam Ward. So, you’d have to make that the primary consideration. But if somebody wanted Kevin Zitler, who’s an aging veteran on a one-year deal, not a future of this team, I would take anything for him at this point if and only if I felt confident that one of the backup interior linemen could handle that job and be relatively similar to the level of play we’ve seen from Zitler. On the defensive side of the ball, Tandre Sweat is a guy that comes to mind who I wouldn’t say is 100% off limits. Maybe he’s 90% off limits. I would kind of put him in the same bucket of guys right now as Jarvis Brownley Jr. to be honest with you. His rookie year was a very very strong start and was enough to make him valuable for a team that might be looking to bolster their interior defensive line in theory. He’s not been back for long, but he’s easing back into it the past couple of games. In the NFL, talent trumps everything. Let’s just put that. That’s the key differentiator between Brownley and Sweat in this team’s eyes. So that combined with the fact that any offer you’re going to get on Sweat today is not going to beat a top 40 draft pick, which is what they spent on him what, 18 months ago, that makes it unlikely he’s going to be moved. The rest of the defensive line, the edge group, I would say any of those guys could potentially move. Now, I’m surprised that fans right now are primarily saying Ardan Key, edge Arden Key, he’s the guy that’s going to be moved when he’s been hurt and off the field for multiple games. Now, if your theory is, well, that’s because they’re saving him. He’s not actually hurt. All right, man. Like, keep wearing your tinfoil hat. He’s hurt. I pro we’ve dug on this. I promise he’s hurt. They would like for him to be out there so they could, you know, try to upsell him and he’s not because he’s hurt. Now, that’s not to say that he’s worthless to a team, but unless he plays this weekend in week nine, the last chance for him to get out there and show something before the trade deadline. I just don’t know what a prospective team is going to offer for a guy that they’re not sure is even right right now. He does have some running mates, though, that are healthy and are flashing. And these are the guys that I’m surprised fans aren’t mentioning. Draymond Jones has had a sack in each of his last three games. He’s come along nicely. Now, he’s a different style of rusher than Ardan Key, right? He’s less of a designated pass rusher type and more of a hybrid run stopper pass rusher type. Fair, but he is rushing the passer. He’s getting home. He’s pressuring and sacking the quarterback lately. He’s playing the best Titans ball that he’s played so far. Low bar, but the best nonetheless. So, he’s on a one-year deal. I don’t see him as a future asset for this team. I would consider trading him. I think Jihad Ward is another guy that’s in that bucket. He’s been better than both of the guys that I just mentioned. Something about the vibe in the building. And when I talk to folks kind of tells me that they may not be as interested in moving him. They signed him late in the process. I don’t know what the market would be for a guy like him, but he is affecting the quarterback. So, if a team is desperate enough, maybe you get a day a day three swap like you have with the other guys so far. He’s on a one-year deal. I don’t think he’s the future of this team. So, you never know. But something tells me that if they were going to keep one of these guys because they really wanted to just hang on to one. I think it’s I think it’s Ward. We’ll see though. I I I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those guys is moved in the next couple of days. In fact, I’d be kind of surprised if none of them are if we’re being 100% honest. Moving on. Tony Pard’s a guy that’s getting auto talk. I don’t love the idea of trading Tony Pard. Now, a lot of this is revolving around the recent flashes that we’ve seen from Taj Spears, who is awesome. I love Taj. I think he’s fantastic. If you could promise me Taj never gets hurt again, then I’d be all about trading Tony Pard for something. But number one, Tony Pard’s a running back, an aging running back on a on a deal that’s uh either expiring or has an out, I forget. But he’s he’s probably going to need a new contract after this year. And running backs aren’t really valued as anything around the league, even the good ones in trades, because running backs are kind of a dime a dozen. That’s just the unfortunate reality. So, I have no idea what if anything a team would offer for a Tony Pard. More importantly, taking Pard away makes your margin for error at the running back position really thin. Are you ready to see a lot of Julius Chestnut? Because I think that’s what you’d be signing up for if you moved to Pard. I love Spears. I think he’s awesome. I want him on the field as much as possible, but with him as much as possible to me does not mean the lion share of touches because I just don’t think his track record indicates that he can handle that. So, maybe Pard gets moved, but I’d be kind of surprised. I already mentioned Zitler at the safety position. They’ve got some real depth. So, Xavier Woods, Quandre Diggs, those are guys that I could see them move. Um I they’re both on deals that are up after this year, I believe. I know that Quandre Digs is Xavier Woods might have been a two-year deal, but either way, both these guys on short-term deals. Neither is the future of this team. And both are starting caliber players. So, if a team is needing some safety help around the league, which team I mean, we just saw a trade for a safety this week already. Um, teams who are contenders have secondaries that could really use this kind of depth. A day three pick swap for either. I would take in a heartbeat. I think it would also create a runway for rookie Kevin Winston to get on the field a whole lot more, which I think we’d all be a big fan of. So, why not move one of those guys? I could definitely see that happening. I don’t know that it would be for much of anything. You know, seventh round value, but anything is something at this point for a team that wants swings of the bat. Then there is the last guy who I think is the most likely of the group. I’ve buried the lead to be traded and that’s Cha Conquo at tight end. Now, he’s at a position that I don’t know how valuable it is. I really don’t. This is not like I don’t I I’m not saying I think he’s going to be traded because I think he’s going to bring a whole lot. I I don’t think that he’d bring a whole lot in a trade. He also might just be a seventh round value or even a 2027 pick. Who knows? But he is a guy that I think is a little bit redundant on this team. Not that he’s not valuable and a good player. He is. And I love Chig and I will be sad to see him go. But this team and this front office wants to see more of Gunner Helm and Chig isn’t totally cannibalizing Helm’s reps. Like they’re both able to be on the field a good deal, especially because the NFL is running a whole lot of 12 personnel these days, but Gunnar Helm’s still clearly the two. And I think they’d love to see him in a role where he’s the one. I don’t think that taking Chica Conquo away from Cam Ward would really impact the targets that that he has out there on the field. Like I think Helm can fill that role nicely and I don’t know that he needs two receiving tight end targets to be able to succeed as a rookie. I just don’t think I buy that. So I could see them moving Chig again an expiring contract. I don’t think he’s in this team’s plans for the future. Why not get something now instead of nothing for him when he walks in two months. I could see them moving to Konquo again for a menial return but a return nonetheless. This team just needs swings of the p swings of the bat in the draft. They need picks. They need picks they can package to move up to get better picks. Ammo, ammo, ammo. Fill that war chest, baby. Trade some guys. Do I think they’re going to be fire sale mode? No, I don’t. But I I would be surprised if there weren’t at least one, maybe two more trades between now and the deadline on November 4th. Uh until then, we’ll see what happens. for esports Nashville.

An interesting proposal I saw was the Titans trading for Tyreek Hill purely as a salary dump for the Dolphins since the Titans have so much cap space next season. They could trade one of those 6th for Hill and a 3rd or 4th
