What’s up with the Padres managerial search?

[Music] [Music] Welcome to the first ever episode of Padre’s Talk. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why do we need another channel about Padres’s baseball? Well, I’m a huge Padres’s fan and I just want to share my thoughts with everybody on what I think we can do to make our team better. Now, since this is the first episode, I’m going introduce myself. My name is Dominic and I am a lifelong podcast fan. Now, with the current atmosphere at the Padres’s Club, I would think the first thing we need to discuss is the ongoing search for a new manager. And I’ll put together a list of some of the people right now that are being talked about. So, we’re going to go through them and you can comment and see what you think about this list. First, we have Brandon Hyde. manager of the year in the American League in 2023 has consistent success and is very incredible. Now concerns you see him there. He was fired for his reunions into the season but he fetched well with the Padres’s culture and front office may need to assess what he brings to the table. After him we have Brian Espacito. He’s a current Padres Ben coach catching coach previously and it would be an internal promotion but he has familiarity and it would offer continuity to the club. Concerns are he’s very limited experience as an MB manager and he’s less of a big name which given the club’s ambition might not work very well. Then we have the long long ever Bruce Bochi. He is a veteran manager. He has a lot of championship pedigree with multiple world champions and titles. Uh he’s an experienced name recognized, has the ability to lead and credible and high stakes environments, but he is older. Hiring a very senior manager might not be the best thing we need. His styles don’t align with the Pers organization right now, so it might not be a coach. Ryan Clarity served as the bench coach coordinator for the Pers organization is familiar with the club’s coach roster appears on the top of the list of internal candage which might assist continuity. It would be his first ever opportunity. as it will be manager though. So, not really sure if that’s what the team is looking for. And with a roster that’s ready to contend, a more exper more experienced manager might be what we’re looking for. Next, there’s Scott Servants. Scott Ser, I can never say his name right. Survales. He has prior movie experience. He’s familiar with the organization. Although his managerial tenure has mixed results, uh he may not be exactly what we’re needing for postseason success. Uh it may cost more have higher demand given his experience. Then we have the EVO system. I think we should kind of look at when making these kind of decisions. We’re looking at experience versus potential. How does that candidate fit within the player uh player backgrounds? What is the strategic alignment, the tenure stability for the club and the playoff and championship track record? Now, there are quite a few other managers that we can look at, potential candidates, and I put together a small list of those two just so we can kind of get an idea of who else out out there has been vying for these. Now, we know that people like Abu AJ Ellis, Marketta, Phil Nevin, Moyes Saloo, and of course, Ruben Nebla, who still is within the Pirates organization, might also be a good fit for this. But one of the names I didn’t I did leave off the list, I think we should take a serious look at is David Ross. Now, this managerial search for the Padres’s is probably going to be the most important one they’re going to have with the teamed probably only having two to three years left to make a serious run at the World Series. They need to bring in a manager that’s going to be able to lead them and guide them to that uh to that event. So, in our next episode, we’ll talk about some of the uh free agents we we may want to try to sign. We’ll talk about some trades and uh you know, we’ll see uh if you guys leave me in the comments any suggestions that we might do some more videos on. But I do really hope to uh be on here for for a long time. And please don’t forget to like and subscribe again. Leave any comments you might want to leave. And we will see you in the near future.
