Gabe Davis: “Go Out There And Keep Working” | Buffalo Bills

Felt good. Um got out there and run around a little bit. Knee feels good. So, uh happy to be back on the field. We only see you out here practicing. Tell us about for you the ramp up prog process. Um the rehab process and what you’ve been doing to get ready for today. Yeah. Um just a lot of running, uh working on some play drive stuff, some real game stuff, trying to see how that knee can hold up and a lot of in the weight room going hard. So, you know, legs feel strong, knee feels good, and felt good to be out of practice today with the boys. Yeah, there’s ramp up periods, 21 day windows for the active roster, not on the practice squad. Where are you in terms of if you got the call up for a Sunday uh suit up and get on the field? I’m I’m down for whatever. Um but, you know, that’s that’s an upstairs decision. I just got to go out there, keep working, and keep making sure my knees are ready to go. And so, physically, you would be you feel comfortable enough to play at a game? Uh yeah, I mean, yeah, I feel I feel good. But again, I I trust their decision and uh whatever happens happens. I’m not really too worried about that. I just got to go out there and it’s good just to be back on the field. I’m just uh thank God for that. Be able to be healthy and play with the guys again. U you know, all glory to him for sure. How was the chemistry with Josh getting back inside with him a little bit? It was good. It was good uh when we first uh ran some routes. Uh you know, Brady put me up first to go and get a route in real quick. So, uh felt felt good to be back again with the guys. Was that fun that he let you go first? Yeah. Yeah, it was just funny. uh finally my first practice back out here and getting out there go run some routes with them and you know just feel like on the field the team again it just feels good. Is there still an acclamation period of that though Gabe? Like we always talk about guys coming in like Amari last year you know you got to get on the same page quarterback you hadn’t worked with you have worked with this quarterback but it’s been a little over a year. Is there still an acclamation period for that? Yeah I mean it’s so much right. I mean I left I went and learned a whole new offense. You know coming here I I know the offense but you know just going out there and doing it is a lot different. And so just got to get back on pace with that and get comfortable with hearing all the things that I’m hearing and you know it’ll it’ll happen soon. When you left, you know, you and Josh had chemistry when things went off script and you guys always kind of seemed to find each other. Then you leave and now you come back. Obviously, we don’t know when you’re going to make your return. Does that chemistry stick with a wide receiver and a quarterback or is that something you also have to build back up? No, I think it stays. Um I know I’ve known Josh now for six years. Um played with him for four five. I don’t think there’s anything we need to talk about or really learn about each other. I feel like it’s always we have like 30 something touchdowns together, you know what I mean? Like we’ve we’ve done it a lot and you know, it just feels like second nature at this point. You’ve been part of this offense when it’s in at its highest. You’ve also been part of it when there’s been some lulls. In those periods, in your experience, how did you guys work your way back to the level you guys expect to be at? You gota you just got to trust the process, man. This game is so hard. Uh being in the NFL, winning every single week is tough, but this team does it consistently. I know how it feels to be on the other end of that fun. So, uh again, I’m just happy to be here. Uh we’re a winning organization, winning team, and I got all the confidence in these guys that go win on Sunday. How how frustrating was it for you to go through what you went through and then to be on the sidelines watching guys play, whether that’s in Jacksonville or in Buffalo? You’ve been playing football your whole life and you can’t get out there. Yeah, I know. It sucks. um not being able out there to play and you feel like you’re kind of going to lose a step and feel like you’re not going to be the same. But, you know, today kind of opened my eyes and I felt really good out there on the field. Honestly, it was it was a lot of fun and again, you know, just can’t do anything but thank God for that. You know, I was praying every single day for this and to be able to go out there and feel as good as I felt definitely has been a special day for me for
