Miami Heat Fans FINALLY Receive The News They’ve Been Waiting For…

[Music] Miami Heat fans should be absolutely fired up right now because Haimemehake Jr. has been phenomenal through the first week of the season and he is doing things that every single Heat fan dreamed about this year. And if Miami wanted to take that step forward from a middle of the pack team to a legit playoff contender, they needed a unsung hero, if you will. Well, Hakez looks to be that guy early this season because the resurgence that he’s had from last year is truly remarkable. Came in as a rookie, rookie, first team allNBA, was also almost the rookie of the year. like and then all Heat fans were all right, full steam ahead. This guy’s going to be a star. 18th pick out of UCLA. But then last season in his sophomore campaign, just call it what it is. He stunk it up. I mean, he couldn’t shoot a three. He was turning the ball over at way too high of a rate and even struggled in the mid-range and inside the paint where he thrived as a rookie. But this season, he looks like double the player of his rookie year, which was expected a little bit last season. Through four games this year, he is averaging 18.8 points per game while shooting 68.9% from the field. He did not make a three-pointer until last night where he went two of four from beyond the arc against the Hornets. So, the three-point shot isn’t even there for Haime through the first week of the year. yet he’s still putting up incredible numbers offensively on efficient shooting. He has been absolutely phenomenal. There’s no way to put it other than that. And this new look Miami Heat uptempo offense perfectly fits Haime. But Haime also is part of the reason and I would say a large reason why the Heat’s uptempo offense has been working so far, which has led Miami to the number one offense in the NBA through one week of the season, as well as the number one pace team in the NBA through one week. The changes that were alluded to by Eric Spolstra and some of these young players at media day in September, right before training camp begins, they are coming to fruition right now. And Haimehay Hawkeye Jr. is a large reason why. And are you appreciative of Haime and what he’s been doing to start the year? I certainly have because the Heat aren’t three and one without his efforts and his ability to get buckets off the bench came in really handy obviously last night as well as against the Knicks on Sunday. Spam your Triple Js for Hime Hakeis Jr. in the comments. He truly has changed everything. I talked about it very briefly in the open of today’s show, but I mentioned it a lot in the off seasonason. If the Heat wanted to go from a perennial playin team, which they’ve been a play-in team for each of the last three seasons, to going from a top six team in the playoffs, but a team that isn’t just making the playoffs and is one and done, but actually competing to go to the finals in the Eastern Conference, they needed one of three players to take a monumental step forward. Those three players were Nicole Yoic, Khal Wear, and Haime Hakez Jr. And I consistently said the most likely step forward out of those three was probably Khal Wear, but I saw Yovic having that potential as well. Well, 0 for two on my end because Haime Hawkeye Jr. has been that person. I know it’s very early to take that monumental step forward. While wear has been pretty much the same as last year, Yovic has been effective, but not to the levels that you would have needed him to jump to to take that next step as a team. Like look at the efficiency that Haime Hakees Jr. has had. We showed you earlier shooting 68.9%. And he’s shooting just two of four from or shot two of four from three yesterday, but two of eight on the year. And you see his shot chart like even without the three-point shot falling right now, he is able to get two feet in the paint, get to his spot, finish at the rim with ease. Like look at the blue dots inside the restricted area. A it’s truly remarkable that a player that is only about 65 66 has no three-point shot is able to get to the rim and finish with the efficiency and the I forget the word kills me when that happens to me. The uh the amount of times is basically what I’m saying here. The fact that he’s been able to get to the rim at that rate and finish with that efficiency is is super impressive from Hawkeyes. And the handle is a big reason why. Like we talked about it last season, his turnover rate was through the roof and the Heat tried to play through him a lot. They tried to get him have the ball in his hands, initiate some of the offense, and it didn’t work. And it looked like it might get ugly again for Hawkeye the first couple games of the preseason, but now he’s just turned a corner where he’s putting little moves on guys. Like he’s confident. Is it the most pretty handle? No. And if you get an elite defender to pressure him, it’s going to be a little bit of a struggle. But when he gets downhill, he he he’s confident in his ability to little behind the back between the legs size of dribble into a spin move or a little turnaround jumper. The post footwork still continues to be there. He exercises that up and under move to a high degree. He’s also got that spin move on lock. like the Heat’s uptempo offense has made Hakez look very comfortable because Hakez at his best and you go back to his days at UCLA is best in transition using his size going up against smaller defenders taking advantage of mismatches getting to the rim. But let’s just not act like the uptempo offense is benefiting Haime. The Heats uptempo offense is working to the rate it has been because Hawz has been able to be so efficient in transition and the Heat’s pushing and pace off of a miss, even off of a made basket at times has put the defense in rotation and allowed Miami to get a lot of good looks. Like Eric Spolstra even recognizes it as well, saying last night after the game how terrific Haime is. A plus 43 in that game. Not the first time, by the way, Haime has been a plus 30 or better this season. He was a plus 33, I believe, against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. He mentioned Eric Spolstra playing downhill in making nice reads. The confidence that Haime is playing with is out of this world. And that downhill attacking is what I’ve alluded to. I mean, that end of the first quarter drive and dunk from Hawz yesterday was unfathomable. He crossed over on Seion James goes straight to the rack and instead of pulling up for a floater or going up with a lefty layup, he went up with two hands and threw it down. Took a scary fall ultimately fine. But that is a move that Haime does not make last year. He doesn’t go up to the rim with that level of aggressiveness and that speaks to the confidence that Hawkeye is playing with. I tweeted out he’s moving like LeBron. Crossover drive blowby into a two-handed dunk within traffic. That’s LeBron Giannis type Playing at a different level right now, man. And without a question, we are exactly seven days since the season opener last Tuesday or I guess seven days for Miami, but yesterday was the seven days for the NBA. He is the sixth man of the year. Like we have some numbers for players coming off the bench that we’re going to show here in just one second. But without a question, he’s the sixman of the year. He three and one, top four in the East right now early. Yes. But the numbers he’s had that we showed earlier, like no one’s doing that in the NBA right now. And I’m actually shocked because if you look on FanDuel sports book, Hawz has the 10th best odds to win six man of the year at plus 2,000. It was like plus 7,000 to begin the year. So, it’s already jumped up by about 5,000 in odds. I still think that’s incredible value. I mean, 10th best odds. He’s trailing players like Josh Hart. Josh Hart sucks. He He’s not good. Like, he just isn’t. And there are other players he trails. Jeremy Grant, that’s one might be welld deserved. And I get it. Like, if you don’t believe that he’s going to continue to play like this, I I understand. But the value right now is is unbelievable. Last year, Pin Pritchard won six man of the year and he went off in the first week of the year. No one expected it to continue, but it did. And this looks sustainable for Haime. So, it’s pretty good value. We got more coming up here in a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. Daily fantasy sports so fun on Prize Picks. It’s good to be right. I alluded to some Hawkz sixman of the year odds and his numbers for players off the bench through the first four, three, five games of the year, however many your individual team has played. If you’re watching this and not a Heat fan, um, this is how Hawkins ranks in players that do not start. Second in points per game with that 18.8 point game average. The only player he trails is Jeremy Grant, who’s averaging 22 a night through his first four games. He’s shooting fifth in field goal percentage. This is all for players that play at least 15 minutes a game. So, it doesn’t count for guys that are shooting 100% from the field and play four minutes a night. No, Hawkeyes has the best plus minus in the NBA for players off the bench. Second best net rating. Also, Hawkins’s defensive rating through the first week of the year, 87. That’s like ridiculously, ridiculously good. And speaking of his defense, like I mentioned, if you look at defensive winshares, another advanced analytic, he’s first in players off the bench that play at least 15 minutes a game. So, second in points, arguably the best defensive player off the bench this year as well, and number one in plus minus. You you couldn’t ask for more. Like, if you’re a Heat fan and we’re scripting out the perfect start to the season for Haime Hawkins Jr., you probably undersold what Haime is doing right now. Like seriously, this is unheard of stuff from a third-year guy in Triple J because if a player is doing this kind of stuff in their third year, they’re probably a featured player in a starting guy. No, he’s coming off the bench for Miami. But it just speaks to the PE bench in general. And I want to take a quick side step. We’ll get back to Haime more in depth here in a second, but the Heat bench has been sensational ever since they moved Nicola Yovic to the bench. Like it’s been a trio that I think might be better than LeBron, Dwe, and Bosch. Just kidding. Of course. Just kidding. But you look at what Simone, Yoic, and Hakas have done off the bench this year. It’s been unfathomable and unthinkable. We already showed you Hakas’ stats, but how about Fontekio and Yovic each giving you double digit points per game off the bench and shooting above 42% from three. The Heat right now have without a question the best bench in the NBA. It’s almost like the Heat are better when their rotation players coming in. Like the Heat starting lineup has been solid. Bam Wear Wiggins Mitchell Powell usually but didn’t play last night. like oh my it has been awesome for Miami and it has just been great stuff for the Heat to where they are able to um play excellent basketball even when their role players come in. But I want to get back to Haimemehake Jr. and get back from this sidebar here because there has been a question on if he has been held back over the past couple of years. That could very well be the case. And I saw this tweet here and obviously Hawkeyez has been dominant, number one player in plus minus over the NBA, but I have also seen him get maybe the benefit of the doubt last season, if you will. So saw wow saw someone on Twitter say Hawa’s last season was being held back by Jimmy Baller. And and I had to take a quick look at that and be is that the case after thinking about it. I kind of agree and I want this to be very clear at least on my end. Maybe it was a shot at Jimmy for the person who tweeted out that he was holding Haime back. Me agreeing is not taking a shot at Jimmy in terms of him holding Hawkeye back. But when you think of what Haimeme does at such an elite level, it is in the mid-range and at the rim and playing uptempo. What does Jimmy Butler do at an elite level? Well, he attacks the rim, works in the mid-range, but he plays very, very slow. So, when you have Jimmy on the floor, you’re not able to really play up tempo or play quick because he’s simply not going to run in transition like that, especially off of a miss. No, he’s going to lolly gag his way up the court. The only time Jimmy gets out in transition is if he gets a steal. Like, he’s not running like that. So, he wouldn’t help Haime in that uptempo offense. But when Jimmy and Haime share the floor, the spacing got very very wonky because Hakez was reduced to more or less a perimeter off the catch three-point guy and we know he is not that. We hope he could be better in that role, but he wasn’t able to do that. So he struggles in that area. But with Jimmy off the floor and off the team, the Heat playing up tempo that benefits Hakez. But also, Haime is able to in the half court operate almost in that Jimmy Butler role where he can have the ball in his hands and create in the mid-range and at the rim. So, I I don’t think it’s a shot at Jimmy to say him being off this roster has opened up the opportunities for Hakez to a whole new level. I think that’s very well the case here. 1. This is a flashback to the dragon years but we’re better than that team and I’ve been waiting for this type of offense to resurface …When are we getting an update on the Rozier situation

  2. I think we’re quite possibly the best team in the league. We’re too deep. We have so many guys that can pick us back up if things are getting stale.

Tyler and Kas aren’t even playing and both of them can juice an offense. Pelle can step in for anyone not named Bam, Ware, or Jovic and make you forget your best scorer is out.

This has been incredible and I’m not doing the “cautiously optimistic” weak sauce. We’re gonna be in the finals.

  3. You're under selling how good Niko has been. He's shooting 48% from the field and 42% from 3. Niko is only putting up 7 shots a game to Jaime's 11. I'm not trying to minimize JJJ's impact, but thats not fair to Niko. If Niko had the ball in his hands more and he were more selfish his numbers would be better.

  4. 😡😡😡 NEVER!! ANY AND EVERY Time that Jimmy and Jaime were on the court at the same time JIMMY ALWAYS FED Jaime!! JIMMY LET Jaime SHINE!! Jimmy was (basically)the Only one to give Jaime feeds….

Jaime was BENCHED So that TYLER Could be made the next HEAT "STAR" if you will OVER Jaime!! And NOW Look where Jimmy and Tyler are!! 😅😅😅 Jimmy Is Livin His BEST LIFE W/GSW…and Tyler is STILL rehabbing his body from last season. So Miss Me with that assessment!! Jimmy and Jaime were FUN To watch when they played together…how easily ya'll forget the TRUTH!! #GOHEAT #HEATBABYHEAT #MYMIAMIHEAT #JIMMYISTHEHEAT #JIMMYBUCKETS

  5. I did have faith that Jaime would take a leap this year after Southmore slump. I was advocating before the season started for Jaime to get more minutes than Pelle. Jaime is a better all around player at the moment.

  6. Add Mitchell to the Jovic, Fontechio, Jaime bench and we will have everything we need to have a top bench all year. Play Mitchell with Wiggins and Bam everytime Herro or Powell is on the bench.
