[Patriots] Marcus Jones AFC Defensive Player of the Month!

  1. Wow that’s kinda wild. I knew he was playing well but surprised he’s getting that level of recognition!

  2. So many big plays. He’s got “late hands” too. So many drives or TDs prevented by getting his hands in there at the last minute. Great timing, and intelligence to be in the right spot at the right time.

  3. Marcus Jones is having a great week with the contract and now this.

Wouldn’t have expected him to be named defensive player of the month but glad he’s getting some recognition outside the fanbase.

  4. The breakup he had last weekend was just perfection. He recognized while the ball was in the air that coverage was dropped (maybe inadvertently), discovered the target, redirected himself entirely, and still got there in time to knock the receiver out of bounds. People don’t give his defensive processing speed enough credit. What a great player to watch.

  5. Give me Diggs, Jones and McDaniels narrating Americas Game the 2025 New England Patriots.

  6. If Marcus Jones was 4 inches taller (but kept his speed and quickness) he would be a regular pro bowler. His size is literally his only drawback.

  7. Dude’s a beast and has flown under the radar for a while due to lack of team success. Happy to see him flourishing

  8. I am a nut that keeps scouting reports in a text file and have this one for Jones, can’t credit it to anyone sadly. Almost certainly a college-focused writer(s). Best guess: Pete Fiutak

Marcus Jones, Houston Size: 5-8, 185

The Good: Ultra-speedy and unbelievably quick, he’s a baller who’ll never lose his guy. There are plenty of fast corners in this draft who can hang with the bigger receivers, but Jones is among the best at mirroring what the ultra-athletic ones can do. Don’t get too lost in his size – he can tackle with over 150 stops in his four years. But …

The Not-So-Good: Can he hold up? He’ll go and pop anyone, but he had shoulder problems and missed parts of the offseason process. Again, he’ll hit, but he’ll get erased by every blocker and he’s not quite physical enough for all that effort.

NFL Draft College Perspective Thought: He started out his career at Troy before moving over the Houston. Now he’s an interesting jack-of-all-trades call with his speed at corner, elite upside as a returner, and possibilities as a receiver and offensive weapon. Every coaching staff will want the entire package after the second round.
