Ik looks egregious bc Giannis, like every player, carries the fuck out of the ball when he dribbles
It amazes me how so many people get so confused by the gather. Reggie Miller doesn’t help being on the call making it sound like a clear travel…if that’s your job you need to have a better understanding of the rules.
The “problem” with Giannis is that his strides are so long he can go much longer distances in a couple of steps.
The travel rules have changed, and they are not consistently enforced, to say the least.
Giannis knows how to push the limits of the rules and sometimes go a little past the limits.
Giannis is called the way any other NBA superstar would be called. Mostly stretch to the limit, occasionally gets by with a little traveling, occasionally gets called for traveling.
We Bucks fans know to just sit back and enjoy watching one of the all time greats having a truly amazing start.
It more just shows how RIDICULOUS the gather step rule is. Call palming, call carrying. Officiate the games appropriately.
I know it’ll never happen again because the NBA is all about pop and flair but goddam its so hard to watch now
