REPORT: New York Jets Workout Desmond Ridder & Dorian Thompson-Robinson

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, the Jets and the Eagles made a pretty decentsized trade yesterday. I mean, it was really the story line of the day, right? The Jets traded away corner Michael Carter and a 2027 7th round pick in exchange for wide receiver John Mechy and a 2027 sixth round pick. Personally, I really really like the move uh for a bunch of different reasons. We posted a video on it yesterday, but in this one, I wanted to really talk about some news that came out and flew under the radar yesterday, right? Overshadowed by that uh by the Jets Eagles stream, and it was the fact that the Jets worked out quarterback Desmond Ritter and DTR, right, Dorian Thompson Robinson, former UCLA Bruin and whatnot. I think the big question here is why are the Jets doing this, right? It’s the by-week. Is it because Tyrod Taylor is hurt? You know, Tyra Taylor, obviously, he’s up there in age and he’s been more so this injury-prone quarterback throughout the course of his career. Is this injury maybe a little worse, right? He’s dealing with the knee. Is it is it worse than expected? Is this potentially an injured reserve conversation? You know, could Taylor maybe miss more time? Um, I I think I mean, first off, we have to commend Darren Mushi for actually getting out in front of it. We’ve seen him work out a couple of veteran quarterbacks earlier on in the season. Uh but it, you know, in this one, this feels very much like, hey, it’s the by-week. Let’s do it. Let’s let’s might as well again get these guys in the building, see what they can do. That way we if we feel comfortable with one of them, we can bring them aboard and then get them, you know, ingrained in the system. So, in the event that they had to play or, you know, whatever happens happens, they’re at least ready to go as opposed to too little too late and the Jets don’t have an answer, right? I mean, I guess news could come out later on today that Taylor could miss more time, but um, you know, again, I’m happy that Muji’s getting out in front of it here. Now, DTR is interesting because on paper, you don’t have to change the offense really at all. you know, in the event that Justin had to come out of a game or, you know, he gets hurt or something and you you’re forced to play Dorian Thompson Robinson, right? Assuming he were, you know, were to jump Brady Cook on the roster, which is not a foregone conclusion if DTR was brought in. But I I think really the point is they don’t have to change the offense. You could plug DTR in and you can still run the quarterback draws. You can still try to utilize his legs and whatnot. you don’t have to mess with and change the offense whatsoever. With Desmond Ritter, you know, if the Jets do decide to go with him, I I think really the goal or the ask of the Jets coaching staff is, can you just take care of the football? Can you hit open guys? Can you not make, you know, stupid decisions, take care of the ball, and let’s just keep us in the game, complete passes. And unfortunately, Desmond Ritter has just shown an inconsistency with accuracy, right? That’s really what it comes down to with him, right? Deep shots down the field, intermediate passes, right? Crossing routes, it just feels like he’s throwing the ball too high or it’s behind the receivers. It It’s just a problem with accuracy with with Desmond Ritter. Great guy. Um, you know, obviously former Sasker teammate here going back to Cincinnati and he’s bounced around, right? He’s been on a bunch of different teams, the Raiders and obviously the Atlanta Falcons, the Arizona Cardinals. So, you know, it’s interesting and you know, I’m pulling for him, but really the name of the game here for Desmond Ritter, you got to get better. You have to be a more accurate passer. Decision-m is one thing, but when making those good decisions, you have to deliver passes that the receivers can actually come down with. So, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. I think there is a decentsized push from Jets fans to see Brady Cook in the event that, you know, Field and Taylor can’t go because Brady Cook, you know, SEC quarterback, he got better every year. He’s tough. He’s gritty. He’s a great great leader. I loved him back at Missouri. Um, and he he also played really, really well for this Jets team in preseason all things considered, right? I’m not saying he’s Patrick Mahomes, but he went out, he managed the game, he hit open open targets, and he ran an offense pretty pretty effectively. He was moving the chains, right? The offense overall looked like a pretty smooth operation. So, you know, I wouldn’t necessarily be against it, you know, putting Brady Cook in um in the event again that Tyrod or or Fields can’t go. But I also think it is smart from the general manager to add that veteran backup just in case, right? You can never have enough arms in the tank, right? Guys ready to go at the quarterback spot. So anyway, let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. Thanks so much for watching and as always, SC Jets.

Mike Garafolo reported yesterday that the New York Jets worked out two quarterbacks – Desmond Ridder and Dorian Thompson Robinson. Could Tyrod Taylor’s injury be worse than expected? As always..Go Jets!

  1. Obviously Tyrod is toast.
Was toast in camp when he left to get surgery on his knee.
Lets be honest, if Tyrod was healthy, Justin Fields would never have even started vs the Bungels last week.
I said it during preseason that going into this season with Tyrod the glassman was a mistake and after leaving camp for knee surgery, my fears were validated.
JeTs need and have needed more Qb bodies this entire season. Better late than never.

  2. This is so crazy to say, but I don’t even like watching Patriots podcasts, just a couple of them cause I’m so bored with the team we’re winning every week I’ve been watching yours every single time.

  3. Even if we sign another QB I would like to see cook in more extended playing time its great we have a GM who is always looking to make the team better

  4. I don't think they would've done this unless Taylor was an IR candidate. That was my instant reaction to your headline and then you said that about a minute in. As for Cook, I'd love to see him ASAP but as is typical for a head coach especially a new one, Glenn isn't likely to play him until the season is completely over, like at 4-11 or around there. He needs to preserve the illusion that the team could win a lot of games so as to justify him staying on for at least another year.

  5. Aaron Rodgers looks good and healthy this season. Just another confirmation point that AG is a complete liability. Aaron Glenn is the dumbest HC/GM in the history of a franchise that has a history of hiring incompetence.

  6. Always like Tyrod and he’s also popular in locker room but I think he should consider retiring. Has terrible luck with injuries.

With Chargers, the man literally got injured when team doctor punctured his lung accidentally. This time I believe he took a helmet on the spot where knee surgery happened

  7. I wanted the Jets to acquire Tyler Huntley when the Brown waived him in the August. Oh well. I do want to see Brady Cook, if they don't let him play why is he on the team. Go Jets!!!

  8. I know it’s shocking Jets would back up a 40 year old with an injury prone 34 year old QB but that’s what they did. Just pass on Ridder and DTR please. Nothing to see there.

  9. Jets fans: Let Cook cook!
Jets FO: Taylor can't go? Shit, we need to find a competent QB now!
    😅😅😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮

  10. Great video as always. I like the fact that moogie is being so proactive it's a stark contrast between when Zack got hurt and how long it took for us to get a quarterback in

  11. Great channel as always
But we all know what Dorian and Desmond are so far no more than someone to hand off the ball. We have nothing to lose right now although odds are Brady Cook gets swallowed up why not give him a shot.

  12. I say they trade for Spencer ratler, or shaduer sanders. Please get someone young in the building. I’m completely over fields. Garret Wilson shouldn’t have to put up with fields for the whole season. Fields is Zack Wilson 2.0

  13. Can WJ shove his ticket increase for a 1-7 team up his A$$??? That's on top of raising parking prices to $100 (not a typo) ONE HUNDRED F'CKING DOLLARS PER CAR?!?!?!?!? Hey Woody. FU.

  14. Cook is good, but we don’t wanna rush him. I think if cook was coming out this year he would be a second to back end first round pick. Hes experienced in college with 3 full years with good numbers and controlled pocket well. He could be good with the right coaching

  15. The 2025 jets are the 2022 Chicago Bears. A quality QB with a 3-14 finish and an MVP vote with an atrocious roster and coaching.
Bottom 5 defense in every category, a terrible line and hardly anyone to throw to. That’s Justin fields career in a nutshell
