Head Coach Adam Foote & Mackenzie MacEachern Pre-Game Media | Canucks at Blues (Oct 30, 2025)

We’ve been just taking a look at you guys coming off that game against New York. I know offensively it didn’t finish the way you guys wanted. You said you kind of found your game in that third period. How do you want to see the guys come out in this one against St. Louis? Yeah. Well, that’s behind us, but we we were just getting, you know, you play certain defense. Some are man-on man, some are swarms. Last we played a desperate team that was swarming us hard. We had caught holding pucks down low instead of kicking out to the weak side a lot and it gave them a little bit of advantage and maybe frustrated us a little bit, kept us flat a bit. Um, but that’s over and we move to the next opponent and these guys are really good rush team. So, we have to make sure D’s aren’t jumping past our forwards in the offensive zone when we lose the puck and that we know how to play these the rush against them. But, um, we’re right there. Just the belief um, you know, again, didn’t go our way, but it was one- nothing, you know, for a long time and we we put the heat on them in the third and almost got it. So, we just got to stay positive and and uh, present our new game plan and stick with the process. You got uh new guy Mackenzie up with you guys on this trip right now. What are you hoping to see from him? Well, he just played NHL games and he’s smart. So, uh to to jump in a situation where we are uh thin as far as we got a lot of youth. Uh he’ll he’ll bring some experience. I think Lon Well, we’re just watching the you know the load like you know what’s happening, what’s coming. So, uh, you know, we’ll take it one game at a time, but I think we’d like to see Denver get the next two, but we’ll see what happens, right? We’ll just play by ear. If I could take you back to the past just a little bit, what do you remember about some of the big battles you had with Keith Kachchuck in front of a net? Well, more of them were in the corner, believe it or not. When he got to the front of net, you just play off him because he’s such a big guy. Like, he was just a guy where you have to respect his strength. So, you just got to stay in front of him, defend that way. But, uh, it was it was a fun battle. One of those battles ended up being in the corner. That’s where I liked them. I didn’t want them to get to the net. Well, you’re back in St. Louis, but this time with the Vancouver Conucks. What’s it like just heading into this one? Oh, it’s good. It’s uh it’s exciting. It’s definitely weird uh being on the other side of it, but it’s an exciting exciting opportunity for myself. New team, new organization. So, I’m going to take it all in. We were just talking to Adam Foot about you, but what do you hope to bring to this group? Uh, I think I pride myself on being a good for checker, use my skating to kind of get in on the for check and kind of create space and opportunities from below the goal line. So, just expect me to kind of be F1 everywhere and kind of create space for my linemates and hopefully create offense from behind the net below the goal line. And heading into this one, I know you weren’t with them for this game, but the team is coming off that game against New York where offense just wasn’t there. But what’s the message around the team heading into this game against St. Louis? You know the team well. What’s what do they bring to the ice? Yeah, like I said, like you said, I I wasn’t there, but it sounded like even though he didn’t score, he had a good game. A lot of pucks to the net. So, I think that’s kind of the message again, just kind of get bodies and pucks to the net. Uh St. Louis has got mobile D, so I think we’re just trying to get pucks behind him and kind of create traffic in front of in front of Ber, I think, who’s playing tonight. All right. Well, good luck tonight. Thank you very much.

  1. Adam Foote was always slow in the head, and so was Rick Tocchet… Why can't the Vancouver Canucks hire a real coach (you know… with a functioning brain?) The dead puck era was a cancer on hockey and both these last to ex-players ("coaches") where the cloud berries on top of the crap pile. They are too old and arrogant to realize that the hockey they played will never come back.

This season will be a disastrous one for the Vancouver Canucks. I'm taking a screen shot of this… and will post it later to show my brilliance, I will say, "I told you so!"

It's painful to watch this team.

  2. A lot of opportunity for those finding themselves up in the lineup. They will need Lank to be the Tank for any chance of a win. I’d like to see Reichel on PP1 to get off the schneid and DOC to finally finish one of his glorious opportunities – those right there could be the difference makers
