Why Tre Jones feels at HOME with the Chicago Bulls
Right on cue. The Great Barrier Thief knocks it away. And there’s the NBA leader in steals. And Tre Jones with one.
You set a career-high
with five steals. As a team you held him under 40% shooting. What did you like about the way
you guys play this team defensively? We withstood their punches in the first half
we came out strong in the second half any way down the stretch. Starting opposite each other at the point
guard position tonight, a pair of brothers, Tre Jones for the Chicago
Bulls, Tyus Jones for the Orlando Magic and the one person that has not missed
one meeting their mother. high intelligence
from Tre Jones in the right position. It’s amazing. And I use that word like all the time,
but I truly feel it’s just amazing. I’m so proud of them
to get to where we are today. Kudos to mom Debbie. She was their coach
all the way up until high school. It just means the world
to, you know, see them continue to shine
and play the game that they love. The hard work, the consistency, the dedication. Thoughts on Orlando? Big physical team besides that one guard they have You know I’m a competitor So playing fast wear teams out. That’s just our style. You know, as far as a team goes,
we’re going to try to do exactly that. We’re going to compete every single night. The Chicago Bulls They come to Orlando,
they win it one 110-98 with a. Very strong
fourth quarter to finish it What did you just say to your brother? We just talking about the game
like we always do No, I give him some room to breathe. I know he’s a little mad after that one But it’s just all love
this is still surreal, playing against him at this level. It’s super cool gotta get his jersey like always I’m gonna do everything I can to help
the team win and whatever that means. However, I can help thrown myself into the team
fully and give them everything I have. All right. We need to work on execution. Up.
Just some defensive stuff. Super excited when I got traded here. Been dreaming for this. Tre Jones is checking in for the first time. And this guy is a true point guard
just to be part of the team. Obviously I know the play style, team played with before
I got here extremely fast. Billy loves to play a lot of guards. Let’s make sure we have a great day
and keep progressing with it. That’s your first double double as a Bulls what’s working for you right now? My teammates are playing well that’s what’s working for me. When I got here. I have a good couple months. Obviously before my injury. Tough shot by Tre Jones You got Tre Jones out there
at least two weeks with that foot sprain. But I enjoyed the time here.
I really enjoyed playing for Billy. You got to put that into play here
right now. I enjoyed the team. And you know what we were kind of building
in the locker room there. So I think it made my decision
in the offseason really easy. You know, wanting to come back and continuing what I had going
in the last couple months of the season. My little bro. That’s my little bro. He taller but he’s little bro. Oh my goodness. Dang. Look at the background. I proposed during her, graduation weekend. Down at Duke Yeah, down at Duke in front of the chapel
right there on campus. Because that’s where we met. One up. Oh, because of the trade
happened in the middle of the season. I was the only one who moved here
for the rest of the season. They would come and visit,
every couple of weeks or so, but, not knowing if it was permanent. It was obviously a little, tough
to make that. Well, blow up. Yeah. Yes, yes. That’s good. Okay. We’re learning
how to build sandcastles now. Yeah. I was super hard at first,
especially with the kids. It’s a great city. So we were, like, not trying to get too attached
because there are so many things that are, you know, it’s easy to get attached. There’s it’s beautiful and there’s
a lot of great things about it. But it was hard. And then after we got reassigned,
we were so grateful to really be able to embrace the city
and what it has to offer. So now we’re just excited. We love it. We wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s a great experience
for the kids as well. Chicago is definitely always one
of my favorite spots since I was a kid. It’s amazing. I don’t think there’s anything
like having fans bought into the organization
and the team like the Bulls have it. It’s always a packed house. No matter the night of the week,
no matter the opponent. I mean,
you know that it’s going to be packed and come fourth quarter, it’ll be rocking
and they’ll be cheering us on to to victory. So there’s nothing like just seeing
what winning means to them and how much the games
matter to them as well. You know, it helps us as a team
and then also being able to just see my number one, my motivation. Look into,
you know, where my family sits and seeing, my family sitting there
and there’s there’s nothing like that. Can’t put that feeling into words. Helps me just go, you know, that that
extra mile, just go a little bit harder. My mom is a huge part of my journey, and a huge part of why
I am, here, where I am today. She was my coach growing up. She was a rock for me in my childhood. The rock for our entire family. So in January of 2019, I was diagnosed with stage
three and ductal carcinoma, devastation. Right? Was definitely the hardest, you know,
words I’ve ever heard in my life. My kids were so worried about me,
especially Tre being at Duke, being far away, and the outpouring of love and support from
everyone was just a relief. But because of the advances in, the research, in cancer,
after just ten months, my mom was officially cancer free. Oh, my goodness that’s crazy That’s the best trophy you have ever gotten. Yeah, that’s the best. One. So, so proud of him for using his platform to help raise money,
help spread awareness. Just really, do you know everything
he can to help others? So not an easy journey,
but to get through it and be on
the other side is I’m so grateful we really just tackled it together
as a family. I would say Tre Jones as a husband, father,
basketball player, obviously. He’s just such a like a wonderful
human being. He is loving, caring, concern,
always smiling. And he’s been that way
like his whole life. Smile on his face, always happy. To care about the community around me. Care about my family. Obviously a lot. Care about, the game of basketball
and my crafts and just how I can better myself every single day,
both on and off the court. That’s pretty a spot on 100% A plus answer.. I’m just so very proud of him.

Love Tre! Still developing, but gives me John Stockton vibes on the court
Good for her. Good guys, no shoe aspirations or rapping.

My favorite signing in the last 10 years
Genuine baller and true asset to the franchise.
Tre is great, the vital glue guy on this team. I hope the Bulls make sure to resign him in a few years and keep him here his entire career. Dude is a baller
0:02 "The Great Barrier Thief" is the nickname of Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks 🤦🏻♂️ great job Bulls YouTube team 👏🏼
Love this video I hope we find a way to keep him for as long as we can he’s such a smart basketball player would hate to lose him
The Bulls couldn't ask for a better player and teammate than Tre, and the city couldn't ask for a better father and family than the Jones'.
