Should the New Orleans Saints have benched Spencer Rattler for Tyler Shough?
The Saints have had enough of watching the Rattler play quarterback. The first few weeks of the season, he was about average. He was kind of a replacement level quarterback. The last couple weeks have been pretty bad. He had a maybe one of the more embarrassing pick sixes you will ever see where the ball was tipped up in the air by Anthony Nelson who then just ran over almost at the Allen Iverson step over on his way to the end zone. So anyway, Rley gets benched, Tyler Shuck comes in and takes over the rest of the game. So, Laquan, now what? I want to start off by saying I don’t understand why he was benched. I understand the turnovers were there. The offense needed a spark, but for them to bench Spencer Rler, who’s completing over 70% of his passes, who’s actually attacking downfield. This guy had eight completions of 10 plus yards. We send in Tyler Shuck. This guy has no idea what he’s doing. He took a three-y gain to Brandon Cooks when you needed a first down and let a Jawan Johnson free on the perimeter wide open under no pressure cool common collected. This is what I’m talking about in terms of why did they make this change when the offense looked worse. It looked slower. It looked indecisive. It looked like this guy is a rookie because I know he played at least 30 years of college football. But I put it like this. The New Orleans Saints don’t have any idea what they have at quarterback and Spencer Rather. I think benching this guy during this game was one of the games you let him go through the growing pains. You let him struggle because again, of course, the turnovers were awful. I mean, the game was not great. Like, they were not an offense these last two weeks that looked like they were anything close to having any type of rhythm, but this guy is great against the Blitz. He has a 126 passer rating against heavy rush. And then you look at Tyler Shuck under no pressure. He’s not making the proper throws. So if Tyler Shuck is going to be the starter at any point of the season going on, Saints pass catchers Chris Olive, Jawan Johnson, Rasheed Shahed. I’m snatching these guys out of my starting lineup.
