What Should the Yankees’ Outfield Look Like in 2026? #yankees #mlb #baseball #nyy #newyorkyankees

If you were told by the Yankees in some private room, it’s Cody Ballinger and Jason Dominguez or Kyle Tucker and Spencer Jones, what are you doing? I think the decision’s pretty easy. I’m going with Tucker and Spencer Jones. From what we saw in the small sample from Jason Dominguez last year, we know that he is capable of being a very good offensive player, but so is Spencer Jones. Jason being a switch hitter doesn’t really mean much to me because as a righty, he’s horrible. You’re going to have to platoon him anyway. Spencer Jones, we saw the raw power at the minor league level. His upside is 30 plus home runs per year. Yeah, he might strike out a lot, but he’s going to give you good average to above average defense and 30 plus home runs a year. Jones was created in a freaking lab to be a Yankee. Good base runner, freak athlete for his size and could hit 30 plus home runs a year. If there’s a candidate to be traded, I’m leaning Jason actually is the guy that might be moved.

  1. I think Yankees fans are being shortsighted on Dominguez and Volpe. Volpe SUCKED this season, I’ll admit that, but it is on the coaches to pull out the Gold Glover and the guy who at least hit above his manager’s weight. Same with Dominguez. The answer to Dominguez’ lack of power and fielding issues was to sit him. Not get him more reps, not (apparently) spend more time with video and the coaches; just sit him. They got lucky that in a contract year (coincidence?!?) Grisham came out of his shoes offensively. As much as I believe you go with the known quantity (Bellinger or Tucker) over the lesser known (Dominguez) or the unknown (Jones), this is a failing of the Yankees and their fan base to let the rookies develop.

  2. This is difficult for me because I’m big on Jasson Dominguez. But Spencer Jones being able to play CF is definitely something I’d love to see. I feel like Dominguez has some great potential and he can get there with some time. He’s still so young and there’s a reason he’s called “El Marciano”

  3. I think Jones hits 25-30 HR's by accident. But I would also feel uncomfortable if he's the only CF on the roster. I wouldn't mind getting Robert Jr. and having Jones as the fourth – or platooning them. Dominguez should be traded.

  4. Im taking cody lf and jasson CF…still keep spencer since he is on the team. Bat jasson as lead off cody 2nd judge 3rd spencer jones strikes out 40 percent of the time. We have enough of those. We need bat to ball hitters more

  5. I wouldn’t trade Jasson who has tremendous upside and has big league experience and count on the potential production of Jones. To me that’s a potential step back. Bring in Tucker and look into position changes for either Jasson or Jones. Not sure if they play other positions. Point is Dominguez is a monster and the Yankees shouldn’t give up on him unless you can get Skeenes.
