Full Highlights | Maple Leafs vs. Blue Jackets – Oct 29, 2025 (w/Joe Bowen)

[Music] Back-to-back games for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They tangle with the Blue Jackets down in Columbus, Ohio on a night that most attention will be focused on Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles. We thank you for joining us. And it is Kaden Primo in goal for the Maple Leafs, but Tavvaris can’t get it out. It’s up against the wall again. Dug free now by Charlie Coyle coming to the front of the net. And that hit the side of the goal. Good pressure here from Columbus. Initially played around back of the net by Benois, but cut off there. Brought out in front of the net. A scramble ensues. The puck’s still free. It’s still free and knocked into the near boards. McCabe pins his man to the boards, but that’s where the puck is pinned as well. Dug out now by Columbus. They work it into the slider. It came back. Still another scramble around the goal line. They’re jamming and the whistle goes. No goal. Wow. Not it. Not in Mr. R. No. My eagle eye from way way way over here. That wasn’t it. All right. Eagle eye. Did he use his glove? Yes, he did. But he just kind of pulled it out. He didn’t put his glove on top of him which is sleeping pass again. Another scramble around Primo and the puck is back in the net and in front of the net. Big save by Primo. The Leafs are living on a prayer here. The scramble around goalender Kaden Primo has been legendary. Now here’s Cinger grabbing the net and he scores. [Applause] Dillinger got a step on Simone Benois. Left-handed shot coming down the right wing side, drove towards the net. Benois couldn’t tie up his stick. And this is after the Leafs had got the puck to their blue line. Well, it’s a timeout for the Leafs. Back of the net. Nick Robertson. Robertson getting it into the slot. A rick shot. Backhand stop. rebound. Good save by Mers Lickens. McKay right to center that went off his stick and came in front, but N couldn’t reach it. Now it’s gone high in the air and one of the Leafs got filled in and now a fouron-one break and a shot scores. Zack Winski ends up taking advantage of one of the Leafs getting bowled over with a puck high in the air. The other part of that, Joe, is Matthew Ny was standing right there, but couldn’t find the puck. Pushed off the puck, but regains it. Now works it to the left wing side for Jake McCabe, who was allowed to walk right in, but the shot went off of a stick and went harmlessly wide. Nice was not able to help. Cavaris gets it back into the slot. A shot whistled wide. Great scoring opportunity there, but it went wide of the net. Another shot taken by Ny is off sticking up into the screen. It’s cleared to the line and Robertson can’t keep it in. It’ll be brought in by Olivier. Penalty coming here against Meyers. One was upsetting Tampa and the other one I guess still counts as a series win was against Toronto. Leaps into the slot area and a shot by McCain is blocked. The rebound scores. [Applause] Kept high in the air. And I believe it is going to be Sammy BL who’s going to get his first goal in a leaf uniform. It isn’t pretty, but it’s effective. Boy, it was get it to the net. But Joe, it seemed to loop. I don’t know whether Blade is able to knock it out of midair. Yeah, it it went off a body in front up in the air and then Sammy Blle out of midair bunts the ball. Bunts the ball bunts the puck towards the net. Couldn’t get it past the defender. Played up along the boards. Matthews able to steal. Get it back and a wrist shot deflected off the shoulder of Mers Lickens. Taken by Machelli. 1458 left in the second period. Draw one and a pass. Oh, rolled in front of the net and N was robbed there by Ms. Lickens as that came right off the face off. Brought in across the line by Tavvaris. His wrist shot blockered away by Mers Lickens and it’s cleared to the line but not out. Pipped in by Morgan Riley. Tavaris shooting. Big glove save made by Ms. Lickens as Johnny Toronto looks for that 500th goal. He doesn’t shoot it. Gives it to Max Doy. A little drop pass in and a wrist shot fired by McCabe in on goal. Stop by Ms. Lickens. [Music] Oliver Eman Larson gave the puck away. It comes in front of the net. The shot that was stopped the rebound and that was deflected and cleared now by Columbus to center. Well, it was a long shift for the Blue Jackets. Londrom gets it back in a pass now for Marenko was broken up. Pat save made there. Another backhand scores program on a giveaway in the lead zone and a twogoal lead restored. And this has become a recurring theme for the Leafs. All kinds of pressure at one end and then a horrid giveaway. Columbus needs the line change. opportunity to move it up ice and finally when they do it’s Loren getting it ahead and DOI gives it back to him and a shot off the shoulder of Mer Lickens but a good scoring chance nonetheless face off in the Columbus zone controlled by the Blue Jackets. Matthews failed to keep it in at the blue line and a twoon-one working here and the goalie score. Cole Cylinger finishes it off [Applause] on a nice twoonone break. Matthews failing to keep the puck in at the other end and it is a 41 Columbus lead and what three off the rush and one off a giveaway at center. Got it around to N on the fire boards. That didn’t work. Now N gets it free in front for Tamaris and a good save made by Ms. Lickens got it ahead and now a pass finds Doy on the left wing. Doi looking for a man in front in the backand. Oh, crashing head first into the boards. There’s no whistle, but I think the Leaf players got to be really hurt. And now they’re going to score off of this. Oh boy, that was Steven Laoren went into the boards that left the Leafs down a man going back up ice. And let’s throw a fourth hole off the rush as Loren breaks a stick going to the Leaf bench. He’s doubled over there. As much pain as he’s in fact that Columbus has scored again makes it worse. He might feel that they’re Boy, that should have been a penalty. Goender Primo leaps back the other way. Ken in with a wrist shot. pad save and another good one made by Ms. Lickens. Columbus, but the Leafs haven’t been able to take advantage of it. Cavaris takes a bit of an elbow. Puck into the slot. Wired off the bench came Robertson and he fired that one just wide and grabbed off there by Joshua who can’t get it out. Now here the chance for the Blue Jackets in with a shot and that was knocked away by Kaden Primo. Played to the line but not out. Leaves keeping it in trying to get a shot at the net that deflects high and wide. One-handed along the boards by Dakota Joshua and there’s a whistle behind the play. Going to be a penalty, doesn’t it? Leaves keep the puck in. Cowan works into the slot. Dishes off to Morgan Riley. His shot blocked. Rebound knocked wide of the goal by Ny. May have hit the post. Joe played along the boards and kept alive at the point by Machelli. And then Matthews takes down the Columbus player Madachuk. And is there a penalty coming here? Yeah, it looks like a Leafs. Yeah, Austin Matthews at the blue line. Riley can’t keep it in. Brought back by Charlie Coyle. Former Bruin dropping it back here. Cylinger in with a shot. Steed wide by Primo. Down into Toronto territory. 12:15 to play in the third. Another turnover. Charlie Coyle. A drop pass. scores from the slot. Matthew Olivier and it has gone bad to worse for Kaden Primo. It’s six to one. And here’s another. I mean, it’s just a manhole cover thrown up the middle of the ice. Eastston Cowan, but he sent it over top of the net. Cowan steals the puck. Got it in front with a shot. Good save made by Mers Lickkins there. Dakota Joshua didn’t connect. Leafs get it again. Trying to do a nice job and cycling gets it to Benois. Benoa pass in front. Another nice deflection there by Huah. And an equally good save by Elvis Mlickens. Trying to get it in front of the net was tripped. And there’s going to be a penalty here. Bobby McMahon trying to continue with it. He banks it back to the blue line. Did it stay in? Apparently it did. It goes high in front of the net. A pass in front. Oh, and a big save by Mers Lickens off Cowan. I don’t see an arm up, so I don’t know if that’s going to be a penalty. I don’t see any of the other officials with it. In on goal and a shot and Tavvaris has scored. John Tavaris coming in off the right or off the left wing. Got a pass. His 500th goal is not going to be celebrated with any enthusiasm. But what a remarkable career this young man has had as John Tavvaris scores for the Maple Leafs to 500 career goals. We already brought it up with Sammy Blade. How you’re not going to remember your first as a Leaf fondly and for the Leafs. Oh, by the way, oh boy, we’re looking at this again. Very close to maybe being offside. It’ll be something he’ll reflect upon. At the end of his career, they are announcing that it is his 500th goal in Columbus. Doi plays it ahead. Robertson couldn’t get it past the defenseman. And now Meyers will try the other side and the Leafs are out at center with a pass. Nikki Robertson gathers in in on goal and scores. Robertson coming down the left wing got free and this score line is going to look better in the morning but it’s a lot too little and very much too late. You’re looking for the small little victories. Nice to get Nick Robertson hot second of the season. AE getting it into the corner with 6 seconds left and time is going to run out on the Maple Leafs who it will say a 6-3 score line but it was 6-1 with less than five minutes to play in the third period.

  1. Leafs get eggs out of your pockets. You can let them run your goalie like that. There should be blood and snot going every where. Set the tone you not fuck around with our goalie. Anyone and everyone should be scared shitless to go near your goalie.

  2. we were at the watch party for the leafs at rogers stadium when they played calgary, We are going no where this year. We really need a good right winger.

  3. Yes I agree JT has been their best player this year, but it's still a mistake extending this guy and extending their playoff futility. JT is not an impact player, just a really, really good support player. He's too old now – won't last.

  4. Not putting this ALL on Primeau, defense was lousy, but he wasn't playing very 'primeau' tonight! 5 goals on 13 shots?! Yikes! Why keep him in the game at that point? Clearly he's struggling – maybe a change might've woken up the D!! Need Woll back in the lineup.
    Congrats on 500 Johnny T!

  5. Crazy sequence of the boarding on Lorentz into a goal for clownbus. No dawg in the boys infront of either net. Need to look for Robby more off the rush like Nylander. Primeau needs to be better.
