Don’t blame the kid. There is no clear path for him to move up to the sabres. UPL is signed long term we have Lyon for 2 years. They signed georgiev and Ellis. Not all blame is on the Sabres Levi has not forced their hand to make him a a staple on the roster but I don’t begrudge him for wanting out as well
Not at all surprised by this honestly, I never understood why the Sabres targeted so many goalies. This is a self manufactured problem and just shows the ineptitude of the organization once again.
There are so many areas of need on this team but having 5 goalies is not one of them. None of the 5 are anything spectacular and that’s the real problem. They are just a blob of “eh” like the rest of the team.
They’re also not the problem so far this year.
I mean what has Levi proven besides an AHL starter? He kinda fell apart in the playoffs

Respectfully Levi hasn’t proven himself. That’s not to say we shouldn’t give him a shot this year. Would want to give him a shot sooner then later, cause right about now we could use a starter
Especially with an actually pretty good d core in front of him, I would like to see some games from him

I’m 100% team Decline Trade Requests. JJP should be the last guy that gets out. You signed here, play out your contact. If you want NHL minutes, earn your way up the lineup. He’ll get a call up at some point this season, make it impossible for GMKA to send you back down.

The reality is Levi was not ready to be an NHL goaltender this year. He’s been given plenty of opportunity to show that he is and he’s never taken the reins and forced his way onto the roster. I expect that he will be in Rochester for the entire season unless there is injury, and then he can force his way onto the roster next year. Plenty of other young goaltenders paid their dues in the minors and didn’t complain about it. You were a seventh 7th pick a team took a flyer on and you had a great world juniors to amp up your profile. Consequently, you were included in a trade as the main piece for a player that’s been far better than what you’ve contributed. You’re out performing your draft position, but to make demands of a team that has believed in you when you didn’t even have arbitration or offer sheet rights this summer. Cool your jets. Play so well that they have no choice but to bring you up, then play even better when you get here. That’s how you stay on this team.

Hasek didn’t play more than 5 games in the NHL until he was 27. He played 55 games In Indianapolis and countless others in Europe. Levi can hold off and eat some garbage plates.
So he requested a trade after signing his contract? Because he signed it late July. After the team had 2 goalies. He definitely knew their plan.
Sabres have zero reason to move him unless a team makes an offer that makes sense. He’s 23 years old and needs to work his way to earn a shot and stay up.
The Levi trade never made sense. It unbelievable that the Sabres traded away Eichel and Reinhart and didn’t come away with a starting goalie.
This would crush me. I love Levi. He is our future. This would be another disaster if Sabres management fucks this up. Trade UPL asap. Run Levi/Lyon as starting goalies. Levi has most potential of all.
