Aj off the bench more effective tooo
KPJ gets his starting role back
Gary and AJ continue to start
RyRo and Cole are interchangeable 1 and 2 off the bench
We go by the ‘hot-hand’ by committee to close out games. Giannis, Myles, and Kuz are locks for defense.
If we’re trailing, 3s would matter and AJ and Gary may get the nod. Ultimately, it’s going to come down to whom Doc trusts the most, either defensively or shooting-wise depending on the situation
I think the only starters on any given night is Giannis and Turner. You’ll see rotation between GTJ AJ, KPJ and Rollins. I’m not sure how well KPJ and Rollins would do together but if they can figure out their roles on the court together and when they’re playing by themselves I think we may be serious contenders.
I think we need to seriously consider putting GTJ on the bench when KPJ comes back if Rollins keeps up his play. Rollins has enough of a wingspan to guard 2s effectively, has been a good spot up shooter when given that roll, and can obviously defend at a high level.
I don’t see the starting lineup changing. KPJ will get the start when he comes back.
I think there’s a possibility that KPJ, GTJ, & AJ will be on a tighter leash though & get subbed out quicker for Rollins, Cole if they’re having an off night.
Hopefully that doesn’t affect their play for the worse though. Sometimes players play better knowing they have a longer leash & are allowed mistakes. I think Doc is the type of coach to get that. Look at how many opportunities he gave Pat when he was struggling.
KPJ and RyRo 1/2
I don’t get the infatuation with KPJ as this locked in starter. He was way less consistent than people seem to remember. He can actually nicely sabotage a game when he doesn’t have it. He was abysmal in the playoffs last year. Outside of Giannis and Turner it’s going to be a committee anyway. Whoever has it that night will close. Kuzma or Prince might close if it’s a super long team and we need more size but that comes at the expense of shooting next to Giannis. We still need to figure out the non Giannis minutes in general because they are dreadful.
Would love to see Rollins and KPJ start together move Gary Trent to the 3 and bring AJ Green in off the bench
i would love to see Sim developement and build up on confidence. he’s got lots of potential
I think Rylo’s calling card is still at the 2-spot. I think the Gary + AJ starting lineups are going to get torched on defense as the season goes on.
Having Rylo as the 2-guard gives them more defense in the group while giving back some needed spacing in the bench unit.
I’m not sure we can keep RyRo out of the starting lineup for long. But if KPJ is who we think he might be, he will need to start too. What I’m hoping to see long-term is RyRo starting with KPJ and Gary Trent. AJ is important, but he’s smaller and more specialized than Trent and prone to foul on defense, so I think his ideal role is to come off the bench when we need some big shots. This would also mean that neither KPJ nor RyRo have to compete with Cole Anthony for bench minutes.
Seeing this insane depth on this team is not something I’m used to.
Yes, it’s only been five games. But we are going to be a problem for a lot of teams.
It’s crazy how five games change things so much. At the beginning of the year there was huge concern about not having enough ball handling. Now there are four solid guys I want to have the ball in their hands, Giannis, RR, KPJ, & Cole. Between the last three I cannot sort who should have more of a featured role as the ball handler. RR has been incredible, Cole’s offensive game is smooth, and KPJ look great for that quarter+ of action, and looked good last year.
I kind of want RR to stay in the starting lineup, but it might not make sense to pair him with KPJ. Man, I don’t know, but it’s a good problem to have, and much better than not having guys that can run the offense outside of Giannis.
When the bucks played OKC in the pre season, AJG was a huge liability on defense and found it incredibly difficult to find his shots. When we play teams of OKC’s nature, I am concerned about his lack of size, athleticism, and shot creation. But with kpj and gtj in the passing lanes, ryan rollins as the point of attack defender, and myles and giannis at the rim, that creates an unbelievable defensive line up. And not only that, but you have more shot creation to attack defenses like OKC because you now have rollins on the floor. So we are essentially trading a little bit of 3pt % in AJG for lockdown defense and more shot creation in Rollins, who is also shooting lights out so far thos season. Imo the bucks are better overall with that lineup. But they should definitely make the rotations line up where giannis and aj end are on the floor together, whenever aj plays. Aj should still be playing a lot, tho, and I love the dude amd what he gives us…I just feel the other lineup is going to be more effect as a whole on both ends of the floor.
Kuzma starting over Giannis 🙂
I hope its a shuffle all season long. Assuming everyone plays up to par, switching up the 1st/2nd team lineups all season could make it an absolute nightmare for opposing teams.
If Rollins keeps playing like this, he needs to start and KPJ can move to the bench to be a microwave scorer off the bench
The only locks are Turner and Giannis always start over BP and Kuz. The rest of the starting lineupcan be entirely based on defensive matchups against a specific opponent’s starting backcourt. The finishing is composed of the 3 guys who are shooting the best that night between Rollins, Trent, Green and Anthony, KPJ, and TP. It’s a wonderful problem to have, 6 start able players between 3 starting spots.
It doesn’t matter who starts as long as guys that are producing are getting their deserved minutes.
I would like to see Rollins at PG, KPJ, AJ, Giannis, MT, with Trent the first guy off the bench. I feel like Rollins and KPJ can be complementary on both sides of the ball.
