“Our power play was terrible.” | Connor Bedard Postgame 10.26.25

Um yeah, I mean we we started off the game pretty well. I think I mean our power play is terrible tonight. So um that that doesn’t help. We have I don’t know how many power plays, five or six. And um you know I think I heard Dicky mention that kind of takes some momentum a little bit and they they use that and um then second we’re kind of you know trying to do a little too much sometimes maybe. Uh so they fed off that and then we we couldn’t obviously get it back in the third. Was it their aggressiveness on their on your on the power plays? Uh no it was it was more us. I mean, every team’s going to have a good kill, but if we uh aren’t making good plays, it’s going to be tough. So, um yeah, we’ll look at and watch it and uh be better. You guys have talked a few times about being onegoal games against playoff caliber teams. This is obviously another playoff caliber team. Are there things you take away as you talk about that process from a playoff perspective? Uh yeah, I think on a team like that, uh just figuring out how to create offense. Um they play really boring. Like I mean not it’s not like a dig or anything like uh you know they sit back a lot and uh they make it hard to get you know zone entries and and we’re we’re putting it in and we’re trying to go get it but you know they’re good at breaking it out. So um you know a lot of teams are going to play like that. Um especially when they have a lead so we got to kind of figure out how to crack that a little bit. So I thought that you know was a good experience for

  1. The powerplay has looked bad for years now.

The zone entries need some serious work. They seem to stall out at the opposing team's blueline or if they do gain the zone, it's sent back out in short order. There doesn't ever seem to be any consistent zone time on the PP.

  2. The Powerplay is one of the worst in the league !! That's the price a rebuilding Franchise like the Hawks has to pay for drafting a "possibly maybe" D #4 in Levshunov with the 2nd overall pick instead of a generational offensive talent like Demidov..for context Demidov playing between the 2nd and 3rd line of tbe Canadians has in his rookie season the same Pts as Nazar..so he would tied has the #1 hawks offensive talent AND he's 1 year younger than our top prospect Kantserov.. the Levshunuv pick is undefendable at 2nd overall..Hawks nation will regret that pick for the next decade.
