REPORT: Everyone Is Watching The New York Jets As The Trade Deadline Nears

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, Ralph Aiano of Fox Sports released an article just, you know, the the trade buzz as of late, but the New York Jets were actually the biggest biggest talking point in the entire thing, right? There was a lot written about the Jets here. Uh, you know, different NFL executives chiming in. Let’s not waste time. Let’s dive into this thing. So, he starts by talking about NFL sources and they’re beginning to wonder, “What are the New York Jets going to do? They have to start selling, right?” One NFL executive told me they’ve got a new GM and a coach who are likely to start blowing up that roster. They’re 1-7 and they’re better off with a top draft pick than a few more wins. And best of all for him, they’ve got some attractive players. They could make a killing if they get involved. He goes on to say, “According to multiple sources, the Jets have fielded many calls from teams interested in dealing, but other than trading corner Michael Carter to the Eagles on Wednesday, New York has either rebuffed the advances or set asking prices way too high so far. Among the players drawing interest from around the league include edusher Germaine Johnson, running back Breeze Hall, and linebacker Quincy Williams.” Now, of course, we’ve also had some other reports involving some of those players here, right? Germaine Johnson. We all remember that whole thing, right? Germaine puts out the uh the whole Wolf on Wall Street tweet and then it’s looking like he’s not going to be moved like he it’s looking like he’s going to be here for um you know at least the foreseeable future. And then with Bree Hall that’s an interesting one because it feels right now that like you can make a great great argument for both sides. Why to keep them? Why to trade them? Rich Simeia of ESPN recently talked about why, you know, there could be some people within the Jets organization thinking, ah, you know what, maybe it’s not a great idea to to, you know, trade Bree Hall at the deadline because Brilen Allen’s uh injured right now, as well as the whole message it would send to the locker room, right? If Garrett Wilson is currently hurt, if AVT is currently hurt, Brilen Allen is currently hurt, you know, where is the life of this offense going to come from? So essentially, some could look at that as like you’re just packing it in. You’re waving the white flag on the rest of the season. However, I don’t think Darren Muji should make shortterm decisions, right? I think, you know, he signed I’m going to guess a five to a six-year contract. You know, a typical G GM deal. I don’t see him, you know, making moves in the short term just to help this one and seven football team to to, you know, try to win more games, but we’ll see what happens. I mean, this is my honest take about the Bree Hall situation, right? I don’t really think it’s that hard. Um, the M I mean, there’s so many articles being written, you know, Bree Hall this, Bree Hall that. I really just think it comes down to this this one question. Do the Jets want him? If the Jets want him, then extend him. That’s it. If they don’t want him, trade him. Worst possible situation, the worst outcome is getting to the end of the season. Breece Hall is not extended. He wants to leave and it’s Bryce Huff 2.0. Oh, well, Bryce Huff didn’t do well in Phil. That’s not the point. The point is at the time, Bryce Huff was the Jets best pass rusher. He was the most productive Jets pass rusher. They showed no urgency to bring him back. I don’t know if the expectation was that he was going to sign like a team friendly deal or what exactly because obviously if they wanted to sign him to an extension that would have been done by that point and they clearly didn’t you know want to give Hassan Reic an extension. It’s the whole situation was just weird. So that’s the worst case scenario right where the Jets hang on to him. We finish the season and then he just walks in free agency and we get nothing. Now, of course, you can argue, you know, uh compensatory picks and stuff that won’t be actualized until 2027. And it’s looking like right now it would be like a 2027 fifth. So, you know, I I to me you either trade them and you get a pick back for him and you move forward or if you want to keep them, then you start talking extensions. I just don’t see the point in in letting I mean, the Jets are not a win now football team. there’s no point into you letting him play out. And I’ve seen the argument, okay, we’ll just franchise tag him. Just don’t worry about it. He’s going to help out a rookie quarterback next season. Uh here’s the deal with that, right? The the franchise tag, not the transition tag, the franchise tag, the one that we all know, that’s $1.9 million, you know? So that would make Breeze Hall the seventh highest paid running back on an annual basis over guys like Kairen Williams of the Rams and James Cook who just signed big deals. So, at that point, I think I would rather just resign him to an extension, right? Like 3 years 33 million or something like that around 11 mil, something similar to what James Cook and Williams just got. Uh, which would come in at, you know, probably a cheaper price than the franchise tag. Now, of course, the difference franchise tag is one year. You know, the extension would be two three-year deals, but bottom line, Bree Hall’s a really good player. I I think with Bree Hall on the field, the Jets are a better football team. I think that is 100% clear as day. It’s super super obvious. So, for me at least, I think the franchise tags off the table. Let’s continue. The big fish for the Jets, though, if they really get adventurous, is defensive tackle Quinnon Williams. He signed through 2027, but he has just $5 million in guaranteed money left on his contract, and they could bring in a bounty in return, especially if he’s willing to negotiate his current deal. Some of those guys could help them in the future, no doubt, the executive told me. But remember, it’s a new regime with Muji and a head coach in Aaron Glenn that’s going to want their own guys. And honestly, it wouldn’t hurt to sweep out some of the guys who are so used to losing. I mean, man, that that is a pretty big statement right there. That that’s a pretty big statement. And then, of course, Vakano finishes by saying that’s why everyone is circling, but no one seems uh sure what the Jets are going to do. So, it should be really, really interesting to see what happens with this Jets team on on trade deadline day uh Tuesday at 4:00. Should be interesting. I mean, who knows? Maybe the Jets stand pat. Maybe we move on from a couple players as the article points out, as that NFL exec uh pointed out to Vakiano, they clear out some of the, you know, the players that are just used to losing and we get a ton of draft picks back in return. Maybe it’s just one more player though, right? May maybe the Jets add a young player. You know, there’s a player that I’ve seen pop up in trade, you know, buzz, not anything, you know, for sure. And I personally don’t think it’s going to happen, but one name I keep on seeing just pop up here and there. Seems to be in the doghouse with his current team. Adonai Mitchell, wide receiver from the Colts, there’s been some mental mistakes. There’s been some mental lapses, and now he’s really not playing at all. And this guy was, you know, according to draft insiders, he was a first- round pick. he falls to round two and just never really found his footing with the Colts. If the Colts say, you know what, let’s just extend Alec Pierce, let let’s bring him back. He’s, you know, obviously this big play machine down the field and this offense is just humming with him, Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor, right? I I would say right now he’s the offensive player of the year easily. If they want to bring Pierce back, maybe there’s a team potentially the wide receiver needy team like the Jets, they can pry him away from Indie for a cheaper price, you know, at the midway point of the season uh in just a couple days. What are we four days out now? Um just something to think about. Something to think about. So again, I feel like it’s unlikely, you know, the Colts did invest a second round pick in him, but if he’s not playing, you know, at times he’s a healthy scratch. I don’t know. Anyway, let me know your thoughts and as always, go Jets. [Music]

“That’s why several NFL sources are beginning to wonder: What are the New York Jets going to do?
“They have to start selling, right?” one NFL executive told me. “They’ve got a new GM and coach who are likely to start blowing up that roster. “Some of those guys could help them in the future, no doubt,” the executive told me. “But remember, it’s a new regime [with GM Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn] that’s going to want their own guys. And honestly, it wouldn’t hurt to sweep out some of the guys who are so used to the losing. ”

  1. Get JJ out of here. What benefit does he bring? is he good against the run? Is he good against the pass? Did he have a season ending injury? I think we could definitely upgrade in the draft while still getting value from the trade while he's got the upside

  2. Here are my concerns. If other teams think the Jets are selling, they will be offering peanuts, or at most, below actual value. The Jets are not desperate to sell. There are no high salaries to dump. The Jets need to start a tradition of winning and how will a 2026 5th or 6th round draft pick help that? It most likely won't. Jermaine & Quinnen are guys you build around, not guys you trade for a 3rd round pick. They would have to be replaced and how many 3rd round picks could replace either Quinnen or Jermaine? If the Jets want to "tear down" the roster, you start by getting rid of overpriced and underperforming talent. Breece, Jermaine & Quinnen are high producers, impact players. You don't tear down by ridding yourself of good, young talent.

  3. The trade is not for us it's for them, I seen the cheapest Halloween costume a brown paper bag with the eyes cut out and a jets jersey I'm done smh being a jet fan ain't for the weak.

  4. Obviously these reports are coming against a backdrop of silence from the Jets camp. Lot of this is teams using the media to float trial balloons.

For me this trade deadline will say a lot more about now Glenn views this team going down the road. Quincy and Breeze are free agents, and therefore they have incentive to try and get something for them if they aren't in jets future plans. If they don't trade them it means either no one was interested, which I would be surprised, or the Jets think they can re sign them, that the fa market for them won't be huge.

I could see them dumping players like Adams and that level of player.

Now of we see hall, Quincy, JJ getting traded to me that is exactly what Ian said, that Glenn feels he wants to build the team of players who didn't get used to losing or didn't fit his mold. Basically what then you are talking about is a tear down. If he wasnt hurt they may have tried to dump AVT as well.

Basically leaving out what they get, who that trade will tell us how Glenn sees this team and how long we as fans will need to sit through more bad seasons until there is hope.

  5. Breece has a sh*t line and none of you seem to comprehend that. Breece is a top 7 RB with a comp line and we need to focus on developing talent rather than keep trading away everyone for peanuts look at Jamal Adams

  6. Glad you mentioned AD Mitchell. He’s the perfect buy low candidate for us at WR. Imagine both he and Metchie finding themselves with us. The more holes we can fill going into 2026 the better.

  7. I think if I got a third I’d trade Breece because I really don’t believe he would want to come back, and he has done a lot for many terrible teams so I’d not like to disgruntle him with a tag

  8. Breece is entering the prime of his career. The next 4 to 5 years he’s at his peak. The Jets would be doing him a favor trading him to a good team. They are going to be bad for at least a couple of years, or until they find someone who can play QB. They need draft capital. They have lots of holes

  9. Watching Jon Grudens video today "Gruden Explains Basic Offensive Formations | Gruden’s Glossary". No wonder lots of fans wanted him as HC for the Jets.

  10. really love your content @jetscentral, but you gotta turn your volume up, brotherrrrrrrrr! The static in my speakers is louder than you! (heart emoji)

  11. "YOU PLAY TO WIN! I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY WINS, YOU GONNA PLAY TO WIN. WHEN YOU START TELLING ME 'IT DOESN'T MATTER', THEN RETIRE. GET OUT! 'CAUSE IT MATTERS."
