I can’t take Liam serious looking at him like this costume. I know. 40 minutes in, 50 minutes into the game, looking good, and then all of a sudden I was going to say bang, but we could just say bouch. Yeah, bouch. Uh let’s just let’s just dive into it. It’s what we’re all here for. Um yeah, we’ll talk we’ll talk about it. Um YouTube chat, by the way, cuz I there’s a comment in here I like. Uh YouTube chat’s brought to you by Odd Company Brewing and the Nation Beer Everyday Logger. Chris, clean logger crafted not just for game day, but for everyday. Find one by uh hitting them up one of their two locations, Richie or downtown. Jake Walman has a comment that absolutely could have been my lead. It’s uh Oh, I’m looking for Evan Bushard’s play Evan Bushard’s playoff form. Oh, no. You know, few months. Yeah, these will be a good bit today. I feel like the binoculars will come in handy at some point. Kind of worked out with the costume actually. We did not plan this. I don’t know if a penguin in a I guess if I’m a zookeeper. Yeah, sure. Yeah, exactly. That makes sense. This does make more sense with the other half of my couple’s costume. But what is what is Amber? She’s a lion. Yeah, I figured. Yeah, it makes sense. That’s a good call. We also we also discovered that we are Batman and Penguin. Yeah, and the penguin. That was accidental. Although that’s not a very spooky penguin. I feel like the one from Batman’s like scary. Yeah, he literally eats Danny Devito penguins. No, doesn’t he Oh, no. He eats like raw fish. Yeah, he eats fish. Yeah. Okay. Um All right. in the YouTube chat. I also my uh my one rule for Halloween that I always tell Amber because I’m not the biggest Halloween guy, but I like it. It’s fine. Yeah, it’s fun holiday. Yeah, it’s a fun holiday. Um I always tell Amber, I will wear whatever we can be whatever we want couples costumewise. I just want to be in somewhat regular clothes. Yeah, that’s a like that’s usually my rule. So like the one year I was a lumberjack and she was a tree. She was Scooby-Doo, I was shaggy, so I just wore like khakis and a green shirt. So you always find ways to make it work, you know. I was uh a couple of years ago I went on a pub crawl. Actually, it was just last year and I was Fred from Scooby-Doo. Ah, and I was at this one bar on White A and this old douchebag, I can’t remember what he was dressed up as, was just really trying to throw his way through the crowd. And I just gave him a nice one-handed shove down, but he was he was because he was like bumping the girls who I was with. And I was like, “Fuck you.” But he was very funny to do dressed as Fred. I was just in this little little little blonde wig trying to be all intimidating. And I went to the bathroom master and I realized I was not Liam. I was Fred from Scooby-Doo. I didn’t imagine what would happen tonight. Imagine getting beat up by Fred. I know. Is this your costume for tonight? This would be what I’m wearing this evening. Yeah. I had a big inflatable one, too, but you can’t do that on the air. Able to sit down. Do you guys have a Halloween party to go to? We already did it. We already went to one last week. Oh, the week before. What did you guys dress up as? Uh, we didn’t dress up. Oh, it was just like a Halloween spooky event. Yeah, I know. I have been getting a full use out of my Batman costume. I’ve gone to two Halloween parties like this. I don’t It’s weird cuz tonight’s Halloween on a Friday and it’s the World Series. I don’t I don’t want to party. I want to stress out on my couch. That’s a tough one to be a part of today. Yeah, I am. Oh, I am so nervous. I’m more nervous this morning than I was on my wedding day. And if the Blue Jays win, I will 1,000% cry. And I did not cry on my wedding day. Sorry, Amber. This is a big deal for me. I always knew at some point in my life I’d get married. I’m not sure I’m I’m still not 100% sure if I’ll ever see one of my teams win a championship. So, if it happens, I’ve only I’ve said this a few times, I’ve only ever seen one of my teams win something when uh Bolson won the Papa John’s Trophy. And that just doesn’t really feel like a real one. You know what I mean? So, and I don’t know much about the history of the Papa John’s Trophy, but no, no, it’s there’s not much to it. Uh, all right. Well, speaking of spooky, we’ll get to our game recap in just a second. First, I want to let you all know Hart Lavine is going to join us at 12:30. Remember yesterday at the end of our show for those of you who watched the whole 90 minutes when we were like, I wonder if the Oilers could find a way to acquire both UPPL and keep Steuart Skinner. Have your cake and eat it too, if you will. Um, we immediately realized we were not qualified to answer that question and could not do the math. But Hart Lavine is qualified to answer that question. So, he’s going to join us, talk about a bunch of things. He was also at a couple of the World Series games. He’s obviously an Oilers fan, but he lives in LA. He runs Puckedia and he’s also a Blue Jays fan. So, we’ll have Hearts swing by in a little bit. At 1:00, Lisa Evans, our new co-orker, is going to join the show. We’re going to do a little Friday fun zone with Lisa. Uh we’re going to have her do a blind ranking and we’re also going to talk a little bit more about the sauce, which debuts Monday right here on the Oilers Nation YouTube. I’m excited for that. Our boy Reese has been downstairs just grinding, working his beehind off. Yeah, he has been. Yep, he’s down there right now, actually. He is. Um, all right, let’s get to our game recap for last night. It’s brought to you by our friends at Greta. Man, you think Friday night Halloween Blue Jays? You think Greta’s not going to be rocking tonight? Holy. Arcade, bar, street food. It’s all good at Greta. Find them right in the heart of downtown Edmonton. Um, let’s let’s let’s break down this hockey game from last night, Liam. Let’s dive into it. I think there’s a couple of couple of subjects people want to discuss. I Yeah, there are. Oilers go down one- nothing in their game against the Rangers. And honestly, they were playing like [ __ ] leading up to this point. Um, do you know what? I agree. However, literally this moment, like right before this, that was like the only moment in the first period was like, “All right, we got a grip on the game a bit now.” bit of offensive dominance like kept him in the zone and then just a pass that that DD is one that BA Nekon make which other way every single game probably multiple times a game clearly it’s becoming a bit too often cuz it became something they just read and all of a sudden you got to break away well and also like that’s a play where you need to be 100% sure that you’re going to make it and we’ve talked a lot about we’ve talked a lot about Bouch and some of the turnovers and like I am all good with Evan Bushard turning over some pucks because he’s taking high-end risks. This is not a high-end risk. This is just dumb. He needs to look recognize that that pass, which was way too long of a pass to be trying as well. Like if you’re going to do that DD again, needs to be a wide open lane or you need to be shorter together in distance, he tried to force it. The play there is just to put it back in the corner and keep cycling and keep wearing down the Rangers. So a dumb dumb play by Evan Buchard. And you and I are both Bard fans and I’m not going to sit here and like pile on him to the extent that the haters do and be like this is why he’s not worth 10 and a half like blah blah blah blah blah cuz I will remind you all once again of the line I gave in the playoffs and that is there are going to be nine to 10 games in the regular season where you are like why the hell are we paying this guy this money? And then there are going to be nine to 10 moments throughout every playoff run where you go thank god we have that guy. And for the Oilers, they are built for April, May, and June. What happens in October, as frustrating as it is for Evan Bushard, and he will tell you, and he did tell you that his level of play right now is not good enough. He spoke after the game. Gregor had the quote, “He’s not good enough right now. The plays are costing them hockey games.” But if you’re going to write this guy off and be like, “You can’t win with him.” You haven’t been paying attention the last two springs. I agree. And I think it’s perfectly fine to criticize him after what he did yesterday. Oh, and we’re going to roast him right away. He played terribly and you need like uh Gourd put in there not playing a 10 point he’s not playing at his level of 10.5 million like no and the others kind of have two defenseman who who do that typically on a gameto game basis granted nurse was pretty decent last night obviously a couple of goals but this one again like you said Ty it you’re going boards to boards for no reason at all zero reason there’s no upside to that play like you that is clearly a drawn up play that they just that he assumed he could just make and he didn’t anticipate, oh, what if the play doesn’t work? The other side of it, too, is and people have mentioned it in the chat, and I agree with you, Wendy Stewart Skinner going to stop a breakaway, but the other side of it that’s kind of funny is we only know he doesn’t stop breakaways because they’ve allowed so many on him so far this season. You know what I mean? Like, obviously, you want to save. It’s their fourth line guy. And it was a it looked like he thought he’d made the save and you need to stop eventually. I 100% agree with the people who are saying that, but like again like the only reason we know is because basically every single game we’re getting one or two just through bonehead mistakes orever whoever it may be that night. Yeah. Um couple of things from the chat. We got one here from PNM who says his level of play will not get us to April Mayor June Tyler for F’s sake. It does every year, man. Oh my god. They woke up this morning points in eight of their 12 games and they’re in a playoff spot. Like you can sit here and be an emotional reactionary fan. I’m certainly not going to do that. Also, me getting fired up while dressed as a goddamn safari guide is ridiculous. I feel like an idiot. That’s why I took my hood down. We’re getting serious now. Seriously, Evan Bushard is still one of the best one of the best defenseman in the NHL. And you can sit there and talk about the turnovers like he has not been good right now, but you do not look at 12 games of a player and go actually that allows me to just make a sweeping statement about who they are. It’s dumb. And Phil says, “What are you talking about? He did this [ __ ] in the Stanley Cup final two years in a row. No, he didn’t. Matias Ekhol didn’t. Matias Ekholm did. So get your head out of your ass and pay attention to what’s going on. Like that’s just such a dumb comment. He literally sets records for what defenseman do in the Stanley Cup final. And for three rounds last year, Phil McCracken, Evan Bousard was the Eminem’s best defenseman. He learned how to penalty kill on the fly, produced at a high level, and was quite literally between him and Wman, they were the only two defensemen who were playing well through three rounds last year. Even even a guy like Kulak was not Koolak last spring. Evan Bard carried this blue line and let’s go back two year. Well, we can go back this year. They don’t beat LA without Evan Bard. Let’s go back two years. They do not beat the Vancouver Conucks without Evan Bousard. So, you can sit there and make up some story in your head about how you think he played in the Stanley Cup final. It’s wrong. I’ll I’ll give you that. It’s wrong. You can pretend to think that they don’t get to the Stanley Cup final without Evan Bard either of the last two years. So just don’t like it’s just the dumb stuff where people come in here and they’re mad after a game last night and again the Bushard turnovers are bad and we’re going to talk about that and I’m not absolving him at all but it’s just ridiculous to sit here and be like they aren’t going to make the playoffs with Bouch like this. They lost in the Stanley Cup final because of Bouch. They lost two years ago cuz they couldn’t score a goddamn goal in game seven. Here’s another thing that we should bring up because this was a conversation online too of the Why am I wearing a [ __ ] Safari outfit? the analytics community. Um, and Bush typically has pretty solid analytics and you know, you guys know how I feel on that. I’m a bit both sides like you can see it sometimes and sometimes you just need to watch the game and be like, “Oh, that was a terrible play.” We’re arguing against his save percentage when he’s on the ice cuz he’s just giving up the craziest chances against like every I went through and I looked and and we we can maybe pull up the video a little bit. Well, let’s do it after once we get to the end of it all. Seven goals this season, Evan Bousard as I I categorized it as led to it as a a clear like mistake like misread a play or just like a straightup turnover. Seven goals against it’s like so we can sit here and argue and be like well look at the save percentage and it’s like okay but how many times has he been a a clear consequence of like why that goal happened? Totally. I counted seven. So to go the other way on that on on our conversation here is the people who are going to point to on ice save percentage and be like he needs a save. We’re 12 games into the year. We’re going to watch the film. He’s hung his goalie out to dry so many times that you cannot throw the on ice save percentage at us because it’s all high danger. So the on save percentage argument is ridiculous and gone. I want to get to another comment here because again people just say [ __ ] in the chat that’s not true. Someone goes he’s 9 this year. No good player should ever be minus 9. Ready to hear who else in the NHL is minus N this year, Liam? Braden Point and Sam Bennett. They’re both minus N. Sam Bennett. Sam Bennett. Braden Point. Consite trophy winner. Team Canada guys. Yeah. Team Canada guy. You want to hear who’s minus eight? Raasmus Dalene. No. Yeah. You want to hear who I mean? Matias’s minus 6 on the season. Matt Cornado. God forbid. Matt Cornado’s minus 12 on the season. Like we can go back to last season as well. I could give you a whole slew of really good players. Even just this alone, how many NHL players, how many players in the NHL last year do you think were minus 9 or worse out of the 700 and some players who play in a given season? Uh 300, 166 or – 9 or worse. And you can go through that list and find some really good defenseman who finished the year minus N or worse. So don’t be sitting there and throwing plus minus back in our face saying that Evan Bard stinks. Like it’s just not true. plus mine. It’s just a a bad stat. Just watch it. And I agree with you guys who were frustrated with his turnovers. He’s been bad. He needs to be better. Should he be held accountable? That was a big question last night, especially after we saw Darnell Nurse get benched for what was at the end of the second period with like two minutes left and then I think it was until like the 13 minute mark. So that’s a good 10 minute sample size of game time. Sydney Crosby last year was minus 20. Well, what are we gonna do about that? Yeah, I don’t know. Um, but I’m just saying like should Boo have been bent so tight? I say yes. I think he should have been. I think I would take the power play away from him for a game and be like, “Hey man, like we’re not you’re never going to healthy scratch him. You’re not going to sit him for a whole game.” But I think you can sit there and go, “You know what, man? You’re not getting top power play minutes for a couple games till you till you figure it out.” Don Elnos set two goals yesterday. Yeah. Art played a pretty solid game. Had himself a good game. Get him out there like play the hot hand. Yeah. And I think sometimes that’s where the others struggle. And maybe some of you saw it. Spectre had the article last night of like talking about it and he said he’s like Chris Nblock came out and said we hold our players accountable. Yeah. It’s like okay but you clearly don’t like you need to show the fan base that like everybody is accountable for this. It’s not just Darnell Nurse when he makes a mistake and rightfully so. He should have been benched against Utah the other day but Evan Bush comes on makes two mistakes as well. They just went back to back plays and all of a sudden he’s out there on the power play on on the overtime shifts and like playing late in the power plays and playing late into the game. It’s like oh like you have seven defenseman trust your trust your other six defenseman. And this one from Max who is very this is a level-headed rebuttal to what I was saying. He says I wouldn’t say it was ridiculous the argument about the save percentage. Darnell Nurse has been terrible good game last night he adds and has been spending every night in his own end and has a 9:30 on save percentage. there’s a level of luck involved and I get what you’re saying Max and like I I will have this conversation with you about on I say percentage I think game 25 when there’s a bit more sample there but the problem for using it to defend Bouch right now is it totally ignores the fact that he is causing like grade a high dangers like Darnell Nurse turns over a puck it results in you know another 45 seconds of zone time for the other team they get a shot from the blue line and maybe a shot from the half wall. Yeah. Okay. Now, now Darnell nurses, yeah, that’s why he has a 93 save percentage where yes, he had a couple of egregious turnovers, but maybe the team just defended around him a little bit better. He recovered from it. Like, they’re not resulting in breakaways and and that’s just the problem here with the Bouch stuff. So, we’re real in deep with it right now. So, maybe we should just play the clip. Do you want to do the montage? This is so painful. It’s hard. For our podcast listeners, we’re currently going to play um You have every Bousard turnover that resulted in a goal. Yeah. Yeah. And it’s 1 minute 48 seconds of highlights starting from last night. So it is uh Brazi or whatever this guy’s name was. And Brian I he says, “I want our goalie to stop some great A chances.” Yes, totally. And obviously these aren’t going to picture be pictured in here cuz it’s I mean here’s the other one from last night. Um you want your goalie to make some saves. I totally agree with you. Stewart Skinner made some saves last night. They might not be off of all the Evan Bouchard mistakes, which again is maybe where the save percentage thing is going to balance out eventually. Like your goalie will start to bail you out. Here’s the Miller OT winner from last night. Bing back of the net highlights courtesy of Sportsnet. Um, so that’s three from last night’s game. Yeah, three from last night’s game where like a couple of them are not entirely on him. This is the bad pinch against the New York Islanders for the short-handed goal. There’s a couple of them like that in here too where it’s like you can be unsure either side of it, but like he’s directly involved in it somehow. Um, this is another one I did really think he should have been able to anticipate the Cole Cfield play at the back door there to come back into it. Again, not really a bad turnover so much as just not getting his decision making. This was a brutal one. This one was really, really bad. Like there’s a couple in here that again like how is Steuart Skinner supposed to stop that? I get that goalies can make big saves, but like I don’t think you can point to Matt Barzell getting a breakaway and be like, “Oh, like this one. Everly in all alone from the blue line in picks his corner.” Like you can’t sit there and be like, “Oh, Skinner’s got to stop that one.” And that’s the thing, like these guys aren’t getting breakaways from I know last night was from his own blue line. Uh but they’re not just getting them at like the Oilers blue line. All of a sudden it’s like the guys to make a quick decision. It’s like no. Like these guys have the entire ice skate down. Oh no. You know what? I know I kind of said we could do that. That might have been too much. That was just kind of [ __ ] up. Yeah, that was [ __ ] up. That’s on us. We do like Yeah. like and to was it Brian who said he want your goalie to make a save. Um last night the Oilers gave up 13 high danger chances against Yeah. and and the expected goals which do what you want with it. I didn’t I didn’t love where the Rangers were able to score goals from yesterday was uh over three goals against was expected last night of five and five play. Can I give you a little uh Stu Skinner number if you don’t mind? Please do. 40 goalies in the NHL have played at least 200 five on five minutes in the NHL. So 40 goalies have played at least 200 five on five minutes. I love making you guess things cuz I’m so bad at it. Out of the 40, where do you think Skinner ranks in high danger save percentage? 14th. He’s 12th. Okay, that’s you’re bang you’re pretty much bang on. But like he is better than Spencer Knight, Ilia Sroken, Joey Dord, Philip Gustoson, Darcy Keer, Connor Halabuck. this the angle that he’s not making big saves isn’t correct. He has a very very good high danger save percentage. Um I just think again it’s maybe a bit of bad luck. It’s probably also it’s definitely speaking to the it’s definitely speaking to the quality of the chances. Bard’s turnovers are leading to like not just grade A’s grade A plus+ chances and Skinner’s not stopping him. But to say he’s not making big saves and not turning aside other high danger looks just isn’t right. And again, maybe that’s where the luck balances out. Eventually, he will start making some saves on these Bard turnovers. But you know what else has to happen as that happens? Bard has to stop making so many poorly timed turnovers. So, how do you find high danger save percentage? Uh natural static players, goalies. Is there a way to do it game to game? Um like I’m looking at it here and I just don’t really see it properly. I can probably but I’m curious like what were his good games, what were his bad games cuz then we can kind of get a bit of an idea on things. But I’ll tell you something, the Stein quality start meter this was easily the hardest one I’ve had to do all year. Mhm. Cuz I had to measure a couple of things in there. Number one, obviously vibes. How we feeling? How we feeling in this goals against? First time he’s allowed more than three in a game this season. Which one we got now? I’m this Phil guy. He hasn’t stopped one breakaway all year. What the hell are you talking about? You can’t just in your head close your eyes and be like, I don’t remember him stopping a breakaway. He hasn’t stopped a breakaway once all year. High danger shots against high danger save percentage. He literally against Utah was three for three on high danger looks against Seattle. One for one on high danger looks. This only at five on five by the way. Against Ottawa, four for four on high danger looks. Against the Rangers earlier this year, five for five on high danger looks when he literally stopped a breakaway in that game. Don’t just make [ __ ] up. Yeah, I mean it’s not looked good right now for them and I I hear you, but yeah, I don’t think it’s been as bad as it seems, but um shall we do the quality start meter quickly before we a heart comes in or what do you want to do? Yeah, sure. Do quality start meter. All right. I actually changed up the way we’re doing it. Not in a scale, but the way I’m going to display it. Aaron, if you wouldn’t mind pulling up the quality start meter. Uh oh, it’s a video. What will it land on? It’s just like the wheel. Oh, he’s down. Oh, you have Skinner is down from last night. This is a tough one for me. He faced seven high danger shots against and only gave up one goal. I know. And the chat has it as a so. I think I’m so so and I’m kind of split on it. I mean, I can be swayed, of course. I mean, I’m so close to having a good saber. I’m never want to not defend vibes. The chat is vibes. Okay, here’s why I went down. First time he’s allowed more than four go three goals in a game. Yeah, he literally did stop a breakaway last night when we were on the power play. Oh, yeah, he did. And there was that one power play there were where there were backto-back twoon- ones. So, like again, Phil, I don’t mind saying this cuz you were relentless in the chat with your dumbassness. New phrase, shut the hell up. You’re an idiot. You’re obviously an idiot. You don’t know how to watch hockey. And that’s cool, man. You can sit on your couch, have your beer, but in terms of commentating on it, find some friends who are smart. Surround yourself with good people. You don’t know what you’re talking about. So, goals against timing of the goals. The one thing I always like struggle with with Kyle puts in the chat there. One high danger goal against means three low danger goals against medium danger. That’s a thing. Okay, let’s quickly go through the goals cuz I would love to know which one was the high danger one because I would label them all as high I mean high the high chance. I’m only talking five on five as well, right? So the all the time goal doesn’t count. Yeah. Okay, but I’m looking at them. Maybe I am going to sway my own opinion here. Here’s the Schneider goal. I hate this goal because the Oilers refuse to tie up Schneider. Like you can see it from this angle. Watch Ryan Hopkins on this play. Glides in. Oh [ __ ] Schneider’s about to get it. I should throw in. It’s like, okay, so he makes the initial save and it pops like look where Schneider is at this point. He’s right. He’s the highest uh the lowest what do you call it? Deepest ranges defender back and he’s the one that gets a chance. How does he get through the backs? This isn’t a goal. Any of them back check it isn’t a goal. And and Skinner makes the initial save here and like sure you could argue like maybe he needs to stay a bit more level to it, but like he makes a stop and he hopes his defenders can kind of back him up. I don’t think people liked the third goal against which is obviously a Taylor Radish like sure I guess like this is probably the one but again like you’re giving that guy a lot of time in the middle that yeah that would be the one I would probably ask was okay I’d like a save there but like again look where the guy shooting from like and how like he isn’t touched at all he’s allowed to pick his corner and I just think that’s like frustrating to me when y the comment is just like needed one. I said, “Okay, we’ll pick one.” What do you want? The breakaway, the one where he’s twoon one, the twoon-one, the one where his defenders refuse to to help him out, the overtime one. If we can pull that one up, Baron, if you don’t mind, where you This one too, like someone back JT Miller just walk right in. Like, what what is going on? Like, and again, Bouch on this one. I’ll feel a little sympathy for Bouch because Dryidle loses his man and Dry Cidle takes three hard strides at Miller, then stops. Yeah. So when you’re on threeon-ree overtime, it is basically always man coverage. So like where I’m frustrated for B on this, not because of B, is watch Leon. So B has to make a split-second decision. Am I taking pass or am I taking shot? Leon drive settle at this point is taking hard strides towards Miller. So what does BH think right now in this split second? He goes, I need to take the pass to not give a wideopen back door tap in because Leon’s busting his ass to get JT Miller. And you can’t have two guys on one guy in three overtime. and it’ll never work. Well, and then Leon Diddle stops [ __ ] skating and Conor McDavid never starts skating. Uh yeah, I feel for B on this goal cuz again, should he have taken his man? Yes. In hindsight, he would tell you, man, I should have just focused on preventing the goal and kept Miller to his back end. Absolutely. But Leon Dryle takes three hard strides and then goes, “Eh.” Yeah, that’s unacceptable from Dryside. It’s unacceptable from all of Yeah, I think Bousard, sorry, if you could still frame him when he like just before he’s about to shoot cuz there’s a point where like Miller brings it like has to bring it onto his forehand to like chip it over Skinner. Yeah, it’s okay. But if Bard is able to come over and let’s say Dry Saddle just is able to continue working hard to get it one, he probably doesn’t get it across, but like it continues to come down a little bit further. This is fine though. Bushard can come over and cut that angle. JT Miller has to make a great backhand pass to I think it was Paneran, whoever it was. Yeah. To then score the goal. And it’s just like, okay, like I feel like this should be an easier play to read from from both of them. And again, like QFO puts in a chat, and I don’t mean to call you out, QFP, you’re a good listener, but like I don’t care which one it is. Just stop one of them. It’s like but that’s not a reason. That’s not how the sport works. That’s not how it works. It’s like I don’t I sure I stop all four. I’m I’m in for it. But it’s just like pick like the third one for me is probably the one that is like, hey, like maybe stop that one. and Dulks is into is like still need Skinner to make a stop. I agree. Sure. I one of them should be stopped. Just tell me which one. I think it’s probably the third one. But again, look where you’re allowing these guys to shoot the puck from. I I just didn’t like last night. It was a lot more on Bousard than and it’s going to be like people are just calling him out so much and he’s just like, well, give me some constructive criticism on that. And that’s Smitty. I can’t tell if people are just trying to intentionally rile me up. They might be. Um, but he Smitty goes, it’s never Buchard’s fault with you, Tyler. Give your head a shake. We literally just played a one minute and 45 second compilation of goals that we all three of us as a collection of Oilers Nation Everyday said were Evan Bousard’s fault. So what are you talking about? The first goal I said was inexcusable. I said his level of play through 12 games is inexcusable. I’m also not going to sit here and just be like he can’t play defense in the NHL and ignore all the good [ __ ] that he’s done over the last two years. Like that’s ridiculous. If this 12game slump was happening in January, no one’s freaking out to this level. It’s the beginning of the year. So every slump is magnified. Before the show, I I’m upset about [ __ ] I said I think we might have seen the best of Conor McDavid. Can’t believe you said down there. Don’t I told you not to share that discuss if he has these exact 12 games in January. I don’t have that take. But it’s October 31st. So these are the This is the world we’re living in. Tyler, last night I was getting that Bard should move to the wing and he should change his position to forward. That is the dumbest. We’re going to run off because I think Nurse is a wingering now, too. Okay. And then one more thing before we get to the guest line. Yeah, he’s here. If Steuart Skinner gave up any of the goals that Igor Chester Turkin gave up last night, oh my god. Oh, that wasn’t this fan base would have imploded. Steuart Skinner would have been trending that goal that they had to review where it goes into his pad and he turns into the net. Steuart Skinner would have been trending on Twitter in 3.2 seconds if he gave up that goal. The ref wouldn’t have even been done pointing to center ice after the review and Skinner would be trending in Edmonton. Yeah, I sometimes [ __ ] happens, man. fast sport. I I could not believe that goal. But I said I was watching it to my fiance. I was like that’s 100% a goal. Oh yeah. There’s no his whole body is in the net. And then you saw the one ang that is going to be tough to overturn. And then they showed the other one. It’s like literally on top of the P. Oh, that was clear. I know we have to get to a guest, but Pete made a good good point. He’s like just learn how to shut down a team when you’re having the lead. Hey. Yeah. Leads 100%. That would be that would be ideal. dumb as hell. I do want to talk about McDavid after. Okay, we’ll talk about McDavid after, but I’m all riled up. My heart rate’s high. I’m out of shortness of breath. What are you supposed to have when you think you’re having a heart attack? Like a children’s Tylenol or something like that? Give me one of those. Or you know what else will work? The soothing tones of heart leavine. Let’s go to the Star Mechanical Guest line. Edmonton’s number one plumbing and heating company. Uh you can find out more by visiting them online at star mechanical.ca. Whether it’s residential, commercial, or 24/7 emergency services, they do it all and they do it well. Uh, quickly, Liam, on the spot, will Hart Lavine be wearing a costume? No. Ah, he’s he’s dressed as a capologist. How’s it going, Hart? No, I’m an anxious Jay’s fan. That’s my costume. That’s what you were before the show. Yeah, I changed right before the show. I was wearing my World Series hoodie. Um, someone did comment and I forget who it was, but it was one of our regulars, and they said they’re like, “All this Oilers negativity is really ruining my vibes for the Jays tonight.” which I think you’re probably in the same boat. That’s right. Yeah. When are we talking about the batting order? Let’s do that. I think Springer’s playing tonight. Really? Is Bo going? That’s risky because Yeah, because then you’re you’re stuck with Bo in the field, right? And then if Springer can’t continue, you got like a Tai France stuck in that DH spot leading off instead of uh and then Bo is stuck in in the field. That’s the risky part with Springer. Yeah, that’s fair. But I’m just also of the belief that like if you can put George Springer in your lineup, you put George Springer in your lineup. Like whatever you’re going to get out of him is probably worth it. Uh but you were at games what? Four and five or three and five? Four and five. Thankfully, I was not at the 18 inning game because I don’t I wouldn’t be here today. I would still be in a hospital, I’m sure. Uh trying to get revived from that. So yeah, games four and five, it it was great. Um they they played great. There was, you know, a little st in game four, a little stress early, but um after that was pretty good. And thankfully I was in my seat for first pitch uh for game five. That was uh that was actually going to be my next question. I was like, “Were you in your seat in time for it?” Uh what was the crowd like that? It’s always hard to tell on TV, but like how many Jays fans were down there? Uh there were some. I mean, um you know, it’s not like an Oiler Kings playoff game, but there there’s definitely some. And you know, the reputation of Dodger Stadium, you have to be a little more reserved and uh be careful out there. So, uh, there were some, especially after the game, there were like it seemed like there was always more after just like kind of around the concourse and outside the ballpark. Um, but and there was times you could hear like a let’s go Blue Jays chant and then it would get kind of get drowned out by the Dodgers. But it was pretty pretty surreal to uh see the Blue Jays in a World Series game at Dodger Stadium. That was definitely not on my life bingo card. What’s the whole thing? Is there only like one road to Dodger Stadium or something like that? Isn’t that a thing that’s like very difficult to get out of? There’s a couple ways in and out, but it is brutal. Like, if you drive, you could it could take you like 2 hours to get out of the lot after the game. So, uh we were Ubering and and walking out of the ballpark to to to go pick up a ride and not have to deal with that. But it’s pretty rough. I mean, it’s a pretty it’s a historic place, but it’s been around for a long time. I guess there’s a lot more cars now than when it was built. Yeah. Um I I think and we’ll stick on the Jays here for a little bit because I do think it’s totally fair to talk about them on the day in which they could win the World Series. But what’s funny about this, okay, Treya Savage is a great story. This roster is littered with great stories, including Ernie Clement, who has like a legitimate case to be the World Series MVP. And when you consider picked up off the scrap peep, a couple of teams didn’t want him. The Jays bring him in. And even last year, he wasn’t this guy. He’s batting like 400 in the playoffs. I laughed. I’m like, this would be like in Oilers terms if they were on the verge of winning the Stanley Cup and the debate was who’s the MVP, McDavid or Kain. Exactly. I mean, he’s Yeah, he’s a great story and like the way he hustles down the line, you know, always seems to make the right play in the field and just keeps coming up with hits. Um, it’s amazing. But I think obviously no matter even if he strikes out every time at bat today and they win, I think Vlatt’s the MVP, right? Look at those numbers and and the home runs. But I mean, they they have a lot of different guys that have contributed. And you compare that to the Dodgers who like there’s a lot of guys with ugly batting average numbers, especially after the the the first round. So, it it it’s such a cliche, but it really does take a whole team in these team sports like hockey and in baseball. And it’s uh you need a different hero every night. And the Jays have been absolutely getting that. Like I mean, again, without the timely Vlatty home runs, too. like Davis starting the game with a dinger. Great. But Vlatty adding the exclamation point. I’m sure that stadium was just stunned silent when Vlatty took that one out. It was it was like there was a little buzz, you know, for first pitch and then it was like the air was right out of the balloon and but also it was quiet because as as Jay’s fans I think it was like just shock like I just certainly who would expect the first one and then the second one and like you know you don’t want to make a big deal cheering and you know get targeted by uh by angry Dodgers fans but it was like also quiet for Jace fans because it was I’m sure on TV it was like wait what just happened I cannot believe that the first two first time in World Series history, right? Like, and that’s what’s cool about baseball records. There’s you have hundreds of years of of history, and to do something for the first time is pretty crazy. Including what Treya Savage is doing, too. Like, it feels like every single game the Jays are playing, there’s three or four things where it’s like, “Yep, never happened in the 140 years of of World Series.” And like Trey Savage just being a 20-year-old kid who’s shoving it. I do not think it is like an in the- moment overreaction to be like 20 years from now, we’re watching this guy go to Coopertown. like he we might be watching the very first steps of like a legendary player to do what he’s doing against a lineup that has like four Hall of Famers in it. This might be something Alec Manoa Alec Manoa might want a word with you too. Like you never know, right? No, this is different. I swear. Yeah, we’ve never seen Yeah, that’s Well, that’ll be the thing in the next year or two. And if you you’re going to decide to make an investment in a Savage jersey now, it’s like is it is he really this good or is a big part of it is because it’s new and the the there’s not enough film and and experience against him, right? So, you know, we’ll see in a couple years. Is is he Yeah. Is he an al-timer or was this kind of like the lightning in a bottle or like the one hit wonder uh coming out of nowhere? Let’s talk a little bit of Oilers. Let’s talk a little bit of NHL as well actually. Um busy busy little run for you over at Puckedia because of all these big extensions that have come in. We got Harley at basically 8 by 10 and a half. We got Logan Coulie’s big deal and then Nature signs yesterday 8 by 11 and a half. Did any of those three surprise you in terms of the AAVs? Um I would say Harley. Um and I’d go back a little bit also with Hudson too. I mean, I think those two deals, you’re going to look at those in, you know, maybe even a year, but especially a couple years and say, “Wow, those are bargains for like high-end number one defenseman, power play quarterback type guys.” Um, you know, because if you look at like a a Bousard deal or even like um in Montreal, Dobson’s deal, yes, those definitely had more UFA years or almost all UFA years, but I mean it’s it’s basically the same number. And these guys like their defenseman get paid for points, right? I mean, um, you know, like look at Adam Larson. Good good solid defensive defenseman. They don’t get paid like a offensive guy does. So, I think those deals are are going to be looking really good. And, you know, also thinking like those are extensions. Why do they sign now instead of in the summer when we’re going to see more of these deals coming where where teams kind of relenting on, you know, real recognize that they do have to pay for the cap going up? Um, and I think both those defensemen would have signed for a lot more in the summer. Um, but again, that’s like what you can look at in your spreadsheet. And in real life, these guys wanted to be part of the team. They wanted the security. They wanted to have, you know, life-changing money um like locked in. And so, you can’t fault them for wanting to to make that commitment. Um, I think on a Nichas, it was interesting. I mean, I I did think of all these UFAS, he might be the one that seemed most willing to go to the market, but, you know, I think if you look at his numbers, he’s improved every year, but he’s not like a 100 point guy. And so to get 11.5 million now locked in like that, you know, that that’s got to feel pretty good for him. And what was he going to get in the market? You know, maybe he’d get to 12 or 12 and a half, but then again, that’s going to be on a seven-year deal next summer. So, I think that’s a pretty good deal for him. And I think it would have been hard for him to say no to. Uh, the Oilers are going to have to make some moves here pretty quick with Zack was supposed to come off LTI or is available to come off LTR tomorrow. That’s been pushed back. They also have Yammark. Is he on LTI or just IR? Just IR. And then also I don’t know if that counts to whatever but like the point is they need to shake up a thing a few things here like how are they going to be able to make this work when everybody’s available even just because those two are probably right around the corner. Totally. Yeah. They basically have to do something with three guys and whether that’s a combination of LTI or sending them down. Um any of that would work. So like let’s say it’s Yanmark or let’s say sorry Kapan goes to LTI then they got to do something with two guys. And you could pick any two guys. The numbers are basically all the same. So whether that’s, you know, a Howard or a Lazar or Thomasac, um or maybe maybe it’s a Yanmark, right? Um it really doesn’t matter. The numbers will work out the same. So some of those guys don’t need waivers like a Tomasic and uh a Howard, and some do, like a Lazar or a Yanmark. So yeah, you basically go through the the roster and pick three guys that are either going to go to LTI or have to be sent down, and that’s how they would clear it. And once they clear it and let’s say they are out of LTR, let’s say it’s all three guys down, they would have a little bit of space, not a lot, but a little bit. And then assuming everyone’s healthy, that could acrue towards the deadline, but you’re not talking a lot. You’re talking like, let’s say in a week they have perfect health uh from then on, maybe that could add 750 to a million of annual capit at the deadline. So it’s something, but we also see that injuries happen. And so that’s that’s probably unlikely as well. So, we’re I think we’re we’re looking at making those roster moves to activate and then pretty much dollar in dollar out like for moves the rest of the season. That kind of brings me to my next question and yesterday we had Jeff Merrick on the show and he kind of you know hinted at UPPL might be getting towards the end of his time in Buffalo here. UAL in 26 years old got three more years on a deal that carries a $4.75 million capid and I don’t mind the idea of UPL although I’m not a goalie expert. I just kind of look at the surface level numbers, but I also get nervous about the idea of giving up on your own 26-year-old Steuart Skinner at this point. Um, is there a way for the Oilers to fit in UPPL while keeping Skinner or is it just way too tight? Uh, that would be really hard if there’s no retention. Um, and considering he’s in year two of a 5-year deal, like are you going to get retention on him? Um, that’s that’s unlikely. So I guess like maybe if there’s a guy like a Henrik going out um you know like you’re going to need a couple million though out like we just said they’re going to be pretty much capped out just to get everyone healthy. So you’ve got to clear 4.75. Let’s say Pickard is either going the other way or get sent down. So there’s a million. So you’re left with 3.75. You know where are you going to find that? And that’s so that’s going to have to be some real cap hit. Like the only one I could really think of is a Henrik. And I think he’s shown that he’s uh or it sounds like he’s unwilling to ever wave. Um, and then so the other way is some retention, but that’s a lot of years left on Buffalo. Now, I would never count on Buffalo necessarily making the the smart prudent decision. So maybe they would do some retention. Um, but I’d also look at like just like you, I’m certainly not a goalie expert, but I look at his numbers. He has one year, one full year with a save percentage over 892 and one year where his goal save above expected were positive. So, like, is he a guy that you’re going to certainly risk Skinner um for or try to add and get have to subtract from your roster and have this cap commitment? Um yeah, I mean, I’m not sure if that’s a guy to go after having said that, it’s easy to say that from the sideline and then say go find a goalie because there just aren’t that many available and so maybe you have to take one with warts. But to me, this is one where like if you have to make it work with them at his full capit, I don’t I don’t know how you do that in a way that makes sense. If you get them to retain and he’s, you know, 3 million or so um and it there’s not as much subtraction, okay, then maybe it’s worth rolling the dice knowing that in a year or two if he is just not the guy you thought, maybe it’s a little bit more movable down the road. Yeah, I think that’s fair. I when we had you on last time, we talked about how the trade deadline might be more boring because of the double retention restrictions and all of that stuff. And as I’m watching all these guys disappear from the UFA board next year, I’m starting to think like, is there a chance going forward free agency is just going to be more boring than ever? And my thinking of it is like, you know, teams are always more comfortable if or not always, but a lot of the times it feels like teams are more comfortable with their guys than taking a risk on, you know, filling the void in free agency. Combine that with the fact that like we’re seeing I joked today with Carter Hutton on DFO Live, I was like guys don’t like moving their [ __ ] Like if they’re comfortable in a city, in a market, they have a house and their kids go to school there, like they would much prefer to take the extra year and resign where they are. And really the only reason guys were getting a free agency aside from maybe like a Marner situation is because their team was just capped out and had to let them walk. So like I feel like all of these factors with every team now potentially as we go forward you know getting $67 million in a cap increase even if it’s $45 million teams are going to be able to keep their guys way more and we might get to a little stretch here where big names just never get to free agency. Yeah, it’s great promotion for the upcoming trade deadline and free agency shows, right? But but I think looking at it objectively like the the rules the rule changes on um how you can make trades or like cap space I think is going to reduce the the likelihood of trades and then to your point these name these names are coming off the free agent board. Um and yeah I mean the thing is there are teams that are going to have a lot of money that want to be good. Um, and so it might be like back to a few years ago when middle range guys are all of a sudden getting way more money than you’d expect just cuz the money’s burning a hole in people’s pockets and it’s like we can overpay, you know, a luchich or an oppos um or we can get nobody, right? And so teams could talk themselves into it. Um, but I do think it’s going to take a few years to kind of work its way through. like we we are seeing more high-end guys going on shorter term deals like we’ve obviously that the different trend the last couple days but if we look back to the summer like look at a Bushard only signing four years um you know we we we are awesome Matthews signing shorter term deals like we have seen some bigger guys take shorter deals so that will take a few years to work through but I that would mean that they’re going to be coming up to the market more often um and then whether they go to the market or they get paid again but then that squeezes other people out I think it you know a few years from now we would we’ll see a little more healthy action at the in free agency of decent players available, but it’s going to be interesting for the next year or two because yeah, the guys are coming off the board like so I look at like an Alex Tuck and uh Kempe as kind of the real guys to watch. Like if those guys go off the board because right now they’re the only guys that are going to be signing at 30 or under that are real real difference makers, I would say, right? Um you got some other good players but they’re a bit older. Um so like let’s see what happens with them. Like if LA gets Kempe done, I think that’s going to be a pretty big number. And then you’re looking at Tuck and then who’s available. The other X factor that we should think about is like it’s been a few years now where like the same teams are good and trying to be good and the same teams are bad and like kind of trying to be bad and also like those sort of bad teams, their rosters have been pretty picked over at the deadline, right? Like San Jose, Chicago. So this year, I mean I you can’t read too much into the first 10 days, but like well it just the cycle of life in the NHL. We’ll see some of the standings flip around and I think that will lead to players right now we don’t think would be available like available at the deadline or players that you would sort of assume get signed as free agents that may now maybe they don’t want to stay on their team because they’re on the way down and so it’s hard to judge it right now. It is a little bit of a snow globe that’s going to get shaken up here um you know in in a few months but you know certainly all signs trending towards uh uh you having to really think on your feet for for trade deadline and free agency to keep the show interesting. Can I give you my early prediction for who will be both the star of our trade deadline show and our free agent show? Both of them. And who will also go down as the biggest overpay for both? Kefir Sherwood. Yeah, he looked good though, man. I got to say his hands look good. They do. But some teams going to give up a firstrounder for him at the deadline. Jesus. And some teams going to give him a 5×5 on July one. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He’s he he’s keeps us up. He’s going to cash in for sure. He’s he’s also going for a Sai Young here looking at those at his nine goals and no assists, right? Yeah, that also doesn’t count the goal he definitely scored and got waved off because of like the chintzy offside against uh against Oilers the other night. Um Hart will spare you from chiming in on the Bard discourse. Hey, I couldn’t match your level of passion for it anyways. But I’ll just say I caught some of that. The the goalie is allowed to make a save, too. You know, you’re all your breakaways. It’s a lot of breakaways, heart. Oh, those those those are rough. And if you play beer league and you made that pizza across the blue line, your your teammates would give you a dirty look. I totally get it. But also, you know, he could How many games has he had over 900 save percentage? I think one. So, like he doesn’t have to save them all, but you got to save a couple here and there. We So, Liam has taken our We’re no longer a save percentage show. We don’t talk about that anymore. We are quality stop meter. Yeah. Liam gives him a thumbs up, a thumbs down, or a thumbs sideways for every game. And that’s how we judge Skinner. So, he’s 500, Yep. Okay. Okay. picture you have for him. Wow. Was that from his high school prom? That looks old. That is, I believe, his draft photo, rookie camp photo. Wow. Looking sharp. Handsome. Looking sharp. Yeah. Uh, heart, as always, we love having you on. We appreciate your time. We’ll chat soon. Thanks so much. Appreciate it. See you. There you go. He uh he mentioned beer league. I’m playing in my beer league game last night after the Oilers game, mind you. So, I’m a little tired. I’m skating around in the second period and I’m like, man, I keep like losing my edge. It’s like early in the second period. I’m like, what is going on? So, I go back to the bench and I had a bunch of snow on my leg. So, I wipe off the snow and I’m like, it feels like there’s like a piece of tape under my skates, but I know there’s not. So, I go back out next shift, same thing. I take like two hard drives, I fall, stumble, keeps going. And I play the full period, but like barely moving out there. It’s the reason I wasn’t backing last night. Go go go into the intermission. My skate blade was cracked. My skate blade was in two pieces. Oh wow. But it cracked at a point where it didn’t come out of the holder. Damn. So I was skating around. And the reason I thought I was Yeah. It was just like wobbling in your It was wobbling. And the reason I thought I was like losing an edge is because it would come like they would come apart a little bit. So right your skate blades like this one long piece. It would come like that and it felt like or there was a gap in between. It was crazy. I literally sat sat in the room and I’m like so I went I was like, “Hey, does anyone have you know those little skate sharpening tools where you can like fix a soft edge?” A stone. Yeah, a stone. I’m like, “Hey, who has a stone?” I My brother-in-law was like, “Yeah, I got a stone.” So, I like pull my boot up and I’m like, “I don’t need the stone.” I’m like, “I don’t have a skate anymore. Have a blade.” Crack. Still played the third period. Damn. Worst game of hockey I’ve ever played. It was awful. Um, but yeah. And now I got to go buy a new [ __ ] skateblade. Yeah, that is a pain in the ass. Such a pain in the ass. Although the new technology of being able to like pop them out. Oh, so much better. Click a button. You just click a button and it’s out. There would have been a time where this was like borderline I might need new skates, but now I just got to pop the little blade out and I’m good to go. But yeah, brutal. I made a poll in the in the We’ll call it the group chat. Yeah, it’s our group chat. Um, is UPPL an upgrade over Skinner? Yeah, I’m going to end it in five, four, three, two, one, end. No one voted in that 5 seconds if anyone was wondering. Um, by a vote of 51% to 49% UPL is not an upgrade over Stuart Skinner. All right, 80 80 people voted. I got D. White said UPL is a backup in Buffalo. is paid almost twice as much as Skinner. That is just a nonsense trade for him. I think I kind of agree. Yeah, me too. I don’t know. Like I think kind of feels like more of the same for just it’s more money. It just feels like another guy. Like maybe like I mean maybe if you wanted to make a trade with Buffalo, you could be like, “Hey, like we’ll take the we’ll take the jump on Deon Levi and see what we can get.” I would 175,000 and we talked about this with Jeff yesterday and again they’re not going to do anything till they give Ingram a look. No, which isn’t going that great either. I got an interesting DM yesterday. Oh, really? Uh they go, Tyler, can you please make a video about this idea? Okay, here we go. Video. The Oilers need to send all of their first and second round picks and all the newly acquired young talent to Nashville in exchange for Here we go. Stamos, Jussi Sorrowos, Steven Stamco. Oh, yeah. Roman Yosi, and Philip Forsber. I mean, if you could get all four, you do it, dude. Why didn’t we think of that? Someone’s got to call Stan Bowman. Get all four. What was it? Actually, don’t call out the person. They deserve to be remain anonymous in this. Just so you know, we just had a guest on called Hot Lavine. Yeah, he runs a website called Puckedia. In the NHL, there’s something we call a salary cap. Now, those players that you mentioned, Saros, Stamos, Yosi, was there another player in there? Uh, Stamos, Forsber, Yosi, and Saros. All four. Okay. Probably about $35 million in cap. 16.5 plus 9 is 25. $32.8 million. There you go. Draft picks don’t have salary cap. No, you gota and Seavoyan, Howard, and whatever other young players you wanted to throw in there, it’s not going to do it. Unfortunately, the Oilers, let me just pull up their their current cap space. Who would they have to trade to get to $30 million? Everyone. McDavid and Dryidle. You would have to trade Nurse and convince him to wave somehow. Are the others currently have minus 2.8 million in cap space? I don’t even know. Like legitimately if you were like they can’t trade McDavid dry settle or Bouch. I don’t think there there is obviously not a combination of four players that would allow you to make that trade. No. Yeah. It’s almost almost impossible. Look at the line from this hat. This hat is so tight on me. Payton Mannon. I’m just going to wear it like this. My hair is fine today. Uh, another thing I wanted to bring up yesterday, just kind of a weird thing. I don’t really understand how this happens and we always see happen a few times a year. Mhm. I didn’t know there was like a quot on how much blood you needed to bleed to get a 4-minute penalty. That was so stupid. I read the rule book last night. It doesn’t say. I like that it’s like blood is an automatic double minor. Okay. Unless unless it’s late in the hockey game. Unless we kind of feel bad for the other team. Yeah. So, Nblock had the quote last night when he was asked about it. It’s like they acknowledged there was blood but said it wasn’t enough to be a double miner. Again, I didn’t know there was a quota on how much you needed. I I thought I heard something last year like the cut had to be inside your mouth, which again, like that’s dumb. If you’re bleeding, like you got cut from the stick or whatever, like it’s a penalty. So, that was silly. Um I guess you can call this loss like balances out probably the Montreal game. It’s again calls come and calls go. Calls giveth, calls taketh away, Liam. And uh to the credit of the New York Rangers, actually to Montreal Canadians fans, they killed the penalty. Really, they killed the penalty and went on to get two points. I had fans in [ __ ] shambles. I was stunned for one. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know you could do that late in the game. It was crazy. Yeah. Anyway, uh the other thing we should talk about quickly before our our friend Lisa gets here. Mhm. Should we talk about Conor McDavid quickly? Can I tell you just cuz it was the refs submitting a mistake? This also reminds me of my beer league game last night where a guy on the other team comes across the ice and just cross checks one of our guys. Can you hit in your like rub off? No. So it’s after the whistle and there’s like a little scrum and this guy comes beling across the ice, buries our guy with a cross check. My brother-in-law Kelly gets killed. So the ref gives him a two for crosschecking and says go home. And I come over and I go well if you’re kicking him out it’s a major. And he goes I can’t give him a major. I missed a call on him earlier, so I want to make it up. Dead ass tells me this. I’m like, I missed a call. That mean I was like, bro, he could have like broken our guy’s ribs. He crossed him so hard. And he goes, “Yeah, but like I can’t do it if I missed a call on him earlier.” Well, my guy’s missing a week of work. I was like, “Dude, that’s the most insane thing I’ve ever heard.” I was like, “What are you talking about?” He could have heard him. And he was like, “Yeah, you can’t do that.” Tyler, Gourd puts in the chat, “Nurse, Rico, Frederick, Skinner, Yamark, Jack Campbell, cap space.” Just got to convince the league for Nashville’s package for 50% retained. Done. You need them all 50% retained. Um, okay. Quickly, McDavid. Guy’s got to pick it up. Yeah, he’s got He’s the best player in the league. I think last game to be honest against Utah, his play offensively was slightly covered up based off him scoring a couple of goals. nice goal with him and news, don’t get me wrong, but like there’s only been three games this season where he has been on the ice for more goals than against. And that is not good. That was Calgary, Utah the other night and Ottawa. Every other game he’s either been even or he’s been on the ice for more goals against them four. And I think too like when you watch him, it seems very strange. He’s like missing small plays. You mentioned one about news before, but the one I keep seeing is like just skating right into traffic and just like allowing guys to poke the puck off his stick. Like when did this become a thing where you weren’t good enough to slide through gaps and get your speed going to get around guys? I’m seeing Jack Rosik do that a little bit more right now. And like don’t get me wrong, I’m not worried about Conor McDavid. He’s Conor McDavid. There’s always certain moments in the season he kind of like falls into these bitter slumps and looks normal. Yeah. Yeah. And I but there’s moments where it’s like, okay, you just had a huge win against Utah where supposedly the leadership was in the room. I would assume he spoke the captain. He’s like, “We have to be better at this.” And he’s not really like turning over pucks that egregiously, but I’m just not seeing it consistently enough from him. And I would like to see our power Conor McDavid play way better and to a higher standard. Just shoot the goddamn puck, Connor. Man, it was a play in overtime yesterday and it pops out to him and if he had had the actual instinct like I did sat on my couch to hold his stick and rip that thing in the top corner. Yep. The Oilers would have won that game in overtime cuz Shurkin was screened. Yep. And he hesitated and shot the puck right after. And you could tell in his hesitation that he knew he had kind of made a mistake there. I think he even tried to pass the news. Whatever ended up doing, it’s just like where was the guy who scored 64? Where was the guy who scored 40? Yeah. like right now three goals this season. One of them is an empty net. He needs to play better. All right, let’s get to our second guest of the day. It’s brought to you by Od Noodle. You can take advantage of the value menu deal which allows you to add two green onion cakes, five spring rolls, or six wanttons to any signature or premium box for just $2 online and takeout only. ood Noodle.ca. You get noodle noodle this weekend? Probably. Let’s ask our next guest, Lisa Evans. Are you getting ood Noodle this weekend? Oh, where is she? Um, I I wanted ood noodle yesterday when I was at the office, but Ryder stole it and ate everything and didn’t save me any. Wow. I was going to ask you. I had it written on my prep sheet. I was going to go, “Hey, are you a big Halloween person?” But answered that. Happy Jayen. Do you know who I am? You each get a guess. Um, you are prison Mike. Kid Rock. Kid Rock. Nope. My prison. My only guess was Kid Rock. I don’t know. Brett Michaels. Oh, that’s fair. I probably should have got that. Brett Michaels, the the wrestler. That’s the lead singer of Poison. He sings Every Rose. Whatever, man. I tried. I don’t know my music that well, and he’s before my time. Lisa, I’m sorry. Guess it in the chat. Yeah, some people did guess in the chat. Chat’s on it. So, there was a surprise birthday party for me once and there like when I walked in there was a bunch of awesome pictures of like me and like special moments with friends plastered all over the wall. But of course, the person that organized it, the running joke is that I look like Brett Michaels, which is not offensive to me cuz he’s stunning. But, uh, there was one picture actually of Brett Michaels and I pointed at it when I was talking casually with someone. I was like, “Isn’t that hilarious?” and she’s like, “Yeah, that’s a great picture of you. When’s that from?” I’m like, “That’s not me. That’s the joke.” So, it’s uncanny. Thanks to who got it in the chat. Who would do that? Anyways, um you’re joining. You’re going to have to get used to the YouTube chat uh because you’re joining us on Monday. The sauce debuts on Monday. Correct. That is correct. We are nervous but also excited, but we also thrive in chaos. So, we’re just going to run with it and see how it goes. But producer Reese has been awesome to work with, and we’ve been coming in every day and doing short little rehearsals. So, we’re ready. We’re ready for uh some screw-ups here and there, but uh it’s nice knowing that the chat is there to kind of uh support us or make fun of us. We’ll take it. I saw the uh the planning sheet you guys had in the boardroom the other day. Oh my god. Put a lot of thought. You guys will be fine. Yeah, we wing it and we’ve made it through 650 episodes. Almost a thousand. Almost 1,000. Uh, we wing it. So, you guys will be fine if you do like an ounce of prep. Okay. But also, you guys like you just extended your show to an hour and a half. Ours is 2 hours. So, how do you how do you find something to talk about for two hours straight, five days a week? Like I I get asked that often when I used to do our morning radio show and that was like max 45 minutes of chat per day. So this will be it’ll be a test. Yeah. I mean for us it’s easy cuz like the chat guides us. The chat guides us and like we can just do like hey should Evan Bousard and then like for 20 minutes the chat just argues with each other and we just kind of watch that whole thing go. You guys aren’t going to be like 100% Oiler centric though. So I can’t tell if that’s going to be easier or harder cuz like you’re you’re freestyling I think is a little bit more different. I think you’re right. And I I’m so excited for this because it is a chance for I mean it’s an opportunity for Oilers Nation to branch out to things other than just sports because as a casual sports fan myself like don’t get me wrong I’m so excited for the Jays game tonight. I love watching the Oilers but I couldn’t tell you like people’s batting average or salary caps like that my eyes glaze over. So it’s kind of nice knowing that Ryder has uh producer Ree to help with that and you guys like on board to just jump in with us. And I would love to be, you know, that person that can come on to Oilers Nation and represent those casual sports fans because I know a lot of people that love Oilers Nation, but at the same time there there’s a lot of keeping up to do when you don’t really know what’s going on. So I I’m excited to to represent that. What What do you think of your studio? I think he’s amazing. That camera cool. So cool. Yeah. Yeah. It’s interesting because I mean I’m coming off of 12 years of morning radio and we implemented a camera in the studio a couple years ago and even getting used to that was pretty wild. So being on camera will be an adjustment. You know what I mean? Because I’m not aware of what I look like or how I’m acting or if writers telling me a story I’ve already heard a thousand times when I’m like starting to like pick my phone up and text my group chat. There’s going to be a lot of adjusting. Um, you’re going to be working with our boy Ree, our precious young boy Ree. He’s so innocent. He’s so innocent. Um, have you gotten in all the Reeseisms yet? Like he’ll tag, you’ll just go up to him and be like, “Hey man, like you’re all good. Like have a good weekend.” He’ll just go whoop whoop or word. You want to know the craziest thing that happened today when Boursy came in with his Batman costume? We were talking about Batman on our rehearsal show and we’re like, “Do you enjoy dressing up, Reese? Like what’s your do you enjoy Halloween?” He’s like, “Yeah.” When I went and saw The Dark Knight, I dressed up as Batman. I was like, “What kind of a loser adult does that?” He’s like, “I was 10.” I went, “Oh, shit.” God, I gotta get used to that, too. Do you remember the Oilers game like 15 years ago when Neil Yakob scored and slid on his knees across the ice and it was all like crazy? Reese, we were talking about that on one of our shows and Reese goes, “Yeah, I remember that game. My mom let me stay up late to watch it.” I was 114. I’m so excited to have uh Gen Z. Just his view on the world. It’s going to be great. Just the difference between the three of us and the ability to just talk everyday life with Oilers fan uh sorry, Oilers Nation fans. And you know, we will still be talking sports. We’re still going to be talking betting. Um but we’re also going to be talking about life and you know, relationships and money and fitness and uh just silly little things, too. So, we’re pretty pumped. Yeah, I think it’s going to be really, really good. A super unique addition to our team. So, we’re excited to have you guys in uh in the office every day with us. Monday to Friday, the sauce right here on the Oilers Nation YouTube. Go find it wherever you get your podcast from as well. Uh Lisa, on Fridays, we do something. It’s called our Friday fun zone. And that’s how we get through it. And that’s how we get through it. Um but we do blind rankings. So, we’re going to put you to the task and we’re going to give you a blind rankings. Are you familiar with how that kind of a segment or bit works? Uh I think I can I think I can roll. Yeah. Yeah. We’re going to give you you have five slots open. We’re going to blindly give you each sort of topic or each answer one at a time and you got to decide where it goes. So your topic today is days to go out drinking. H So we’ll give you one at a time and you got to slot them one through five. AB, do we have a board to go with it? Special days. Yes, we do. So your first option, we’re going to kick it off as it’s it’s obviously relevant. So it’s like holidays to booze at and we’re kicking off with Halloween. Halloween’s your first option. One through five. Where does Halloween go on the board? To go out drinking. Oh man, it’s so hard to know if that guy across the bar is actually good-looking or I’m just attracted to them because they’re dressed up as Brett Michaels. Batman. That’s a great example. Um, so I’m going to actually put that at I’m going to put that low. That one’s tough because everyone either looks way hotter than they actually look or less attractive than they look, you know? Mhm. Yes. So, number five. Straight to five. I thought you were going to go four. I’m shocked by this. I think I might have gone a little higher, too. Lisa, I argued that I’m a former drama student, so I live for Halloween. This is my favorite day of the year by far. I was also a drama student, but I never got the lead role. So, I guess I should be thriving on Halloween when I can pretend I’m the main character. But no, I don’t know about that. I think the costumes are too big. It’s hard to walk by people in the club. It’s too much. Number five. All right. What’s the next option? The next option. This one’s a classic everybody loves, but New Year’s Eve, where does this rank for you on holidays to drink on? Um, for New Year’s Eve, I’m going to put that pretty high at the top. I’m going to put that at number two just because it’s a great opportunity to see a lot of people that I rarely see throughout the year. You get to dress nice. You’re drinking champagne, which is one of my go-tos. It’s going in at number two. Number two. All right. What’s the next one? Maybe we’re going to go with St. Patty’s Day, which this would have been my five. I hate it. This one I think is just once again, do I need an excuse to drink, but I take it every single time. I don’t really need a reason, but I’ll take green food dye in my beer. Yeah, I’m going to put this at number four. I enjoy it. I don’t like having the green dye in my beer, but I’m really good at chugging a Guinness, and I love showing off that talent. So, but still, yeah. Did I say number four? Yeah, it’s going four. Four. All right. Okay. So, we got Oh, you got to take more of a St. George’s Day, guys. Yeah, we were trying to get that going last year with red dye in the beer because of Liam’s obviously heritage, but no one no one bought in, shockingly. Uh, so we got five Halloween, four St. Patty’s Day, and two is New Year’s Eve. So, one and three are open. Aaron, what’s next? Next up, we got your your holiday Christmas. No, I’ll even say holiday party. We don’t discriminate around here. We celebrate everything. What? your Christmas hall Halloween Christmas party. Yeah, like that type thing. Which at our now that you’re part of Oilers Nation, buckle up. Okay, I’m a little bit nervous to put this. I just don’t know what’s coming up next and I’m worried about keeping number one open, but it’s also so cold when it’s Christmas and you’re wearing a dress and tights. But I do love pants. My gosh. Okay, let’s put this at number one. So, now I’m excited to find out what’s going in the middle at three. What do we got? All right, number three is your own birthday party. Oh, yeah. Oh, I’m an Aquarius, too. I love the attention. Okay, I guess it’s going at number three. I’m one of those people, too, where I never plan my birthday party. So, I’ve had too many surprise parties to the point where all my other friends are like they roll their eyes at the thought of it. So, I think it deserves to be at number three. Thank you. So, are you happy with your list or would you swap something? I think it’s good. I’ll take it. I don’t hate it. I like that. The St. Patrick’s Day hate I’m very very high on. So, that was good. That would have been six for me. You would have gone lower than the five allowed. What do we celebrate? The fact that we put We can drink any You can put green dye. You can drink drunk on a Wednesday. Any Wednesday. Any Wednesday. That’s true. Where was like wing night? Why wasn’t that on the list? Well, I mean unsung hero. That is a good night. But that’s not like one of these holidays could fall on wing night. Yeah. And I have cheesecake on wings. So Liam, are you a Are you a penguin? I am. Put your hood up. It’s penguins only, by the way. Penguins only have one lover their entire life. Me, too. I’m engaged. All right. He was saving himself. He was saving himself. You guys want to hear? I don’t know, man. I don’t plan on getting another wife. Just going to have one. That’s fair. Yeah. Do you guys want to hear a scary story? Cuz it’s Halloween. Sure, please. So, we had this caller once on our morning show. Uh we were asking for scary stories and she called in and she said she did one of those ghost tours where you know you walk around the haunted area and at one point they were in a basement and she was there with her friend. There was a big group of people. It was dark down there. And she started feeling this pressure on her chest and at the time she was like, “Oh, this feels weird, but maybe I’m just claustrophobic. You know, it’s a small space down here.” So anyway, the ghost tour ends. She’s leaving with her friend. They look at each other when they get out like more under the street lights and her friend goes, “What is that?” And on her chest was a perfect handprint and it was red. But the weirdest part was the fingers were like this long and like pointy. And she sent us a picture of it. So, as much as that sounds like a lie, we were like, “Give us the photo proof.” And she texted it into the station and it was terrifying. Now, now what? Now that you’ve We were going to let you go after that, but now you’ve opened a can of worms and the YouTube chat wants it and I feel like this is a right of passage for you to sit through it. You have to hear one of Liam’s ghost stories. Please. I love ghost. Ghosts don’t haunt me cuz I think they think I’m annoying. So, they like go out of their way to not haunt the space that I walk into. So, I’m waiting for the day a ghost is like showing their presence. So, tell me. Do the one you told Pete and DJ. the the the one at 3:00 a.m. Yeah. It was a cold February night in Sh Park and I was home alone, just me and my dog and I was sleeping in the basement and I uh I come upstairs cuz the dog I can’t remember what I was doing. I was think I was getting a water or something. It was just me and the dog and all of a sudden upstairs hair dryer just goes off. quick split second on and off. Then I obviously ran downstairs, locked the door, and didn’t come up until the morning. But that was it. It happened to me. It was just me and the dog home. And even a dog walked upstairs being like, “Holy [ __ ] what was that?” I know. He didn’t. He does not believe me. But it happened. I was there. Dude, that is terrifying. Why the blow dryer out of all things though? Girl ghost. I definitely her name was Becky. Yeah. To draw my attent. Whatever the plan was, it worked. Yeah. And now you’re aware of the ghost. Uh Lisa, we can’t wait for the sauce on Monday. Uh have a good weekend. Thanks for popping on. Okay. I love you guys so much. Have a great weekend. Go. Go Blue Jays. All right. There you go. Lisa Evans. Her and Ryder. Going to be uh also Lisa Evans, but we don’t know Ryder’s last name. I can just assume FM. Yeah. I kind of always just assumed it was just FM. Yeah. Oh, like a Dell. I don’t know if he I think he’s like a Dell. All right, that was fun. That was fun. Yeah, I can’t wait for their show to start. Yeah, I think Christmas is always my number one. It’s the best time of year to drink cuz it’s like Christmas is a few days. Yeah. You know, so you get like good opportunities. You usually stay at people’s houses you wouldn’t usually stay at and all of a sudden you also tend to get like a week off of work. Yeah. Exactly. So that also makes the drinking a little bit easier, the hangover. Yeah, it’s awesome. Um, Aaron, do you have a Friday fun zone for Lee and I? Uh, yeah. I got an extra one here if you want to do it. Sure. Yeah, let’s do her up. Okay. It’s obviously it’s the theme of the Halloween season right now, gentlemen. So, your first one I want you to do, we’ll do we’ll just do one, but there’s five options. I want you to blind rank Edmonton Oilers costumes. Previous Oilers costumes that we’ve seen. Also, shout out Ws cuz I was looking this up. He had a whole article written years ago of all the best Oilers costumes. Shout out my boy W. So we kick it off. Wait, shout out to W yesterday who tweeted from the main account. First St. Albertborn Oiler to ever score a goal for the team. That can’t be true. Mark Messier. Mark Messier. Matt Benning. Just two right off the top of my head. Anyways, continue. Will you take the good with the bad? Can you help me with this one? All right. Your first option we’re going to go with when remember one through five. Darnell Nurse as Justin Bieber and his significant other as one Haley Bieber. Creative. It’s good, but it’s not great. This one I feel like has been done by way too many people these days. I think at the time, too. I’m I’d like this to go at four. I’m almost five. True. I actually didn’t know who he was until, but I remember at the time that was quite a trend. I’m going five. I’m going five for Daryl. All right, we’ll go five. Okay, we’re going five for Daryl. Next up, one of my personal favorites is I’ve been a fan of this for my entire life. Two worlds colliding with Conor McDavid dressing up as Homer Simpson. Shout out Lauren as Marge. This was everything to me. I’ll say this was much better than his Donald Trump outfit that he did. Less controversial, that’s for sure. Although Homer strangles his son, Connor thought. Um, yeah. I mean, I’m good. Yeah, I’m good at the bean too because of the commitment to it. I would never do anything that requires me to put paint on my body. No, that’s where I draw the line. But I’m good with two if you’re a good commitment. And as well, like you said, Lauren dials into as well. So, I think two is good. Yep. The hair is excellent. Also, did she paint that necklace on herself? Well, yeah, she must have. Well, I can imagine they probably had someone come do that for That’s commitment. That’s commitment. So, two, we’re good at two. Okay, so we’ve got two and five. It is a little strange as Ryan says. It’s creepy. Yeah, that’s when you know. That’s when you know. All right, third up. He’s been in discussion a lot recently. We’re going to go with this one’s pretty average, but I like it. It’s Steuart Skinner Men in Black with his wife. Steu is always looking good. He looks extra handsome right here. Yeah, this is like how he dressed for that California Closets commercial. Um, I like it. It’s definitely I’m happy we put five where five was. Yeah, I think it’s a good four. I think it’s a nice four. It’s a nice save four. I mean, again, a costume that I could totally get behind cuz you’re just rocking a black suit and looking fly as hell. So, I dig it, but I think there’s better ones coming. So, I’m good with four. Four is a good one. Good costume, though. I like it. Yep. Next up is an Edmonton Oiler who left us. He was one of Brett Holden’s favorite players, and it’s worlds colliding yet again. Vincent Dehar as a pint bouncer wearing the Cooler Pops hat just because we know some of the lore behind Vinnie. I think this is funny. I think it’s so good. And like he looks like he could be bouncing at the party in a couple years. Three. Three. I know. I think I know what’s coming as one. So we got to do three. That’s so good though. I like knowing Vinnie, knowing Rick, all of it. Yeah. Oh my god. This was unbelievable when it came out. Do you remember media day? You asked him about this about the pine and he said no comments. I was like, “Hey, you got” We talked to him at media day first final. I’m like, “Hey, you got a message you want me to give to Rick and all the boys?” And he was like, “Nope.” I was like, “All right, that’s fair. We’re on the clock. Thanks for All right, so what do you got taken?” Everything but everything but one. We’re rolling the dice. I know it’s Pull Your RV. Give me Pull Your RV. It’s Pull Your Ar. I knew it was coming. I knew we had to save one. This is fantastic. Without a doubt. The best costume. I’m glad you did this one. Yeah. Yeah. This is a good one. We’re staying timely. What other ones has he done? Remember he did the ice spice one? Oh, that one was gross. I didn’t like that. Weirded me out. Yeah, that weirded me out. This one though, very, very funny. By our boy Yesa. Yeah, this was uh fish in the bag. Hilarious. Creative. I love it. I love it. Okay, that was one, Vinnie was two. No, Vinnie was three. Two was uh Connor. Connor is Homer. Yeah. Yeah. And then three was Vinnie. Four was Stew and five was Darnell. I think we nailed it. Good. Nailed it. Good boys. Good list. That’s exactly as I would have had these in order. Yeah. All right. Good stuff. Uh we got we got a couple. Yeah. Good. Good work, Aaron. Good Friday, Funzone. And thank you to Lisa for joining us for it as well. Oh, Aaron’s gone next week. Oh, yeah. Aaron’s gone to the Dominican for a wedding. 7 days all inclusive five star resort gentlemen. I will miss you dearly, but I will not be thinking about you. Nope. And you should hopefully the Oilers fix their [ __ ] by the time I get back. Like Mookie Bet said, “I don’t think about other men when I put my head on the pillow at night.” Don’t think about us when you’re on your vacation. I guess I do sometimes. Think about Oh, no. I didn’t want to go down that lash. Uh, all right. Aaron, wait. Stay on cuz we got to do our bet365 NFL parlay. For our friends at bet365, download the app today. Use the promo code nation. Whatever the moment, it’s never ordinary. At Bet 365, which one of you already locked in Colts minus 3? Guilty. Guilty. So Colts taking on the Steelers. You’re taking Indie at minus three. I I like that. I think I know what I want. An insane line. Aaron, what do you want? I think I want Chargers minus 9 and a half against the Tennessee Titans. It’s a theme this season. Whatever the spread is against the Titans, you take it. Yeah. Also, the Chargers got Joe Alt back, which seems to be the key to their entire team for some reason. But nine and a half, I also don’t think it’s that crazy of a spread against the Titans. Chargers fell off for a little bit. They’re on the upswing back and really it’s just bet against the Titans. Sorry. Uh AK Zed is in address Bod. A [ __ ] Did we forget to talk B today? Oh my buddy, just re You got to rewind. Do you want me to send you the minute 48 of turnovers? Go to the front. What was you say about five minutes in? 10 minutes in. We talked about it for a good 15 minutes. At 10:30 it starts 10:30. There you go. AKZ. Thanks for tuning in. Good lord. I love when people just pop in at like when it’s convenient for them and are like, why aren’t they talking about what I I want them to talk about on the currently live program. Yeah. Um, thanks for watching. Yeah. Thank you. I’m going to go sticking with heavy favorites. Lions minus 8 and a half. Oh, yeah. They’re not They’re going to blow out the Vikings. BM. And I made a bet when we were in Vancouver about that. Oh yeah. What’s your guys spread? 13. I think I think it was 11. Yeah, I thought it was a little bit lower. Yeah, I remember. I was Liam negotiates. Well, Tyler, I think I I think it’s just a beer. I think it’s just a beer. Um, I was there for that conversation, but I was non-verbal at the moment. What? What happened? Why? I don’t know. Um, so our parlay is plus 554. If you’ve been tailing our NFL parlay every single week, you would be up 5.3 units on the year. If we hit this one and you’re we’re up 10 units, that would guarantee we finish the year profitable, which is kind of crazy. Hey, let’s see it go through the hoop first, though. Let’s go. Yeah, let’s get one more win. We’re feeling good. We’re feeling good. Also, next week I’m going to text you my pick for this bet. Okay, sounds good. But don’t think about me when you’re in bed. Yeah, you have to do it not in bed, Liam. Zero promises. Zero promises. Um, if you think of me, think of me like this. Well, yeah, that’s I’m Batman, buddy. That’s all I think about. Uh, Chel Peterson, I see your comment. some kicked in and I couldn’t speak. Um, all right, let’s do quickly World Series. Taking a look at things, the Blue Jays are still underdogs in uh in this one tonight. Um, plus 120 on uh on the money line. Maybe I’ll cook up a quick little same gamer here for the people. 120. I’ll take them on the money line. I’ll take Gossman just at 5ks. I’ll knock it down one from the six that he’s set at. And then total bases, I’m going to do one hit for Bob Bashette. And then I’m going to do hits, runs, RBI’s, 1 and a half for Vlatty. You take that. If you were to bet that on bet 365 cuz there’s a little something for you. Plus 525. I’m going to You know what? They’re winning the World Series tonight. $40 pays out 355 on that parlay. Damn Daniel. Damn Daniel. Eli’s in the chat. Welcome back, Eli. I don’t know if you’re back. Eli, you got tickets? Oh my god. Oh, wow. Wait, how did you get tickets? Oh, he’s not back. He’s So, yeah, Eli’s not back without Maybe he was back today. Um, that’s insane that you got tickets, man. Congratulations. Stay live until he tells us how much that was. How do you Yeah, you have to tell us how much. Yeah, Eli, you got to text me and tell me how much that was. No, no, no. Put it in the group chat. Put it in the group. I like group chat. I call it that. They weren’t cheap. I mean, how much? What do you think? Get in price. Wasn’t it $1,700 yesterday? The other day. And I mean, if Eli bought him earlier, maybe he Oh, yeah. Didn’t he buy them? He totally did. He bought them before he left. Four game six. So then actually he might not be that bad. Um a smart guy. That’s why he’s a producer on this show. Yep. Um only the best. Get in price right now for a general get in price for a general admission ticket tonight for the Toronto Blue Jays is $1,650. Um, the cheapest seat if you want to guarantee like get yourself an actual bum in the seat is 1,700 bucks. Wow. He got face value when they dropped. Eli, be honest with me. Are you not a little bit tempted right now to make like a quick $1,500 or whatever? I told him that last week when he told me I do now remember how much the price was. Yeah. Eli really just lives an extraordinary life. He does. He’s there’s a lot of stuff I’ve just And he’s always at concerts where they’re doing mosh pits. Yeah. I’ve never been to one of those. I have no idea. You guys want to come to a broken yolk show? The greatest punk band in Edmonton. That’s my brother’s band available on Apple Music and Spotify. Feel free. Um, support the teachers, man. If you want to sit in the lower bowl, you the cheapest one you can get is 2500 bucks tonight. That’s crazy. Crazy. I’m just going to watch from my couch and throw candy at kids out my window, I guess. Dangerous way. 1,700. That’s Tyler’s yearly zookeeper budget. Damn. Damn. They asked if you killed Harambe earlier. We missed Harambe. RIP Harambe. Weekend preview quickly. Uh Oilers in action tomorrow night taking on the Colorado Avalanche. No, they’re not. They’re playing Chicago. Oilers in action tomorrow night taking on the Chicago Blackhawks next Saturday. They’re taking the Colorado out taking on the Colorado Avalanche. Uh they’re taking on a Hawks team that’s been one of the better stories in the NHL. 54 and two on the season. They’re one point back at the Oilers. Actually have a better points percentage than the Oilers. They got a plus4 goal differential. Frank Nazar looking like a stud. Connor Baddard seems to be having his breakout season. So things are going pretty well for Chicago. Just play the way you did for 50 minutes of last night’s game and you will win this hockey game. And you’ll probably score more than three goals if you play that way. That’s good. Don’t get me wrong. It was 40 minutes the game before. It was 50 minutes last night. We’re edging closer. That’s a poll. Um, expect goals saved above expected per 60. Spencer Knight’s been really, really good. Yeah, he’s a good goalie. Yeah, if you go amongst goalies who have played five games this season, so like actual like the legit starters, he’s been basically the 11th best goalie in the league this season. What is that? Goals saved above 60 or whatever per 60. Goal saved above expected per 60. What a what a name for what a stat. Uh, if you go Sorry, I read that wrong. Goal saved above expected. He’s sixth in the NHL. 6.6 goal saved above expected. Why is why is our goalies was like three over a couple days ago. Skinner is 26th at 0.05. Nice. And uh I have probably like 48th. Yeah, he’s if you I you got to knock it down to four games played is like the number. He’s 38th at minus 3.1. Someone in the chat did say that like hey Ste’s getting a lot of hate but Pickard’s been bad and he has said this brutal this season. He’s got to be better. He’s got to be better. Yeah, I do think again a lot of goalie a lot of goalie performances can be based off the team in front of you, but what if what has Pickicket played now this season? Vancouver where the team was awesome. Team played great just couldn’t score against Demco more than twice. All good. They won 3-1. Picker did his job. Then what they play Vancouver again only is very good in that game. Yeah, he had the Devils, I think, was one, and then the other day against Montreal. H Yeah, he I think he’s lucky so far that Connor Ingram has had a couple of games to struggle here, too. Cuz that’s where the the clock’s ticking. It’s going to be Pickered for Ingram if slash when that swap happens. So, yeah. Yeah. Both goalies are not good enough in Papa G. Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, that I I I’d buy into that. Like I would love to have seen Steuart Skinner go to a different level, but like I don’t know, man. I also think Skinner’s given him a chance to win in a lot of the games he’s played. Five out of eight. I heck maybe. I’d love it to be six or seven out of eight. Maybe I’ll upgrade my thing from last night and throw it up a little bit. Do you think it should be a soso? Give me your final. I think it should be a so. Okay, we’ll put it so then. It’s a team effort. I also think it should be. I was on the fence, so I’ll go so from last night. Yep. Good 50 minutes, bad last 10. Whatever. kind of like our shows. We have No, the inverse. Good 10 minutes, bad 50 minutes. You know, it’s funny. I was thinking when Lisa mentioned that that they’re doing the two-hour show. This show used to be 30 minutes. Really? When it first started, we were only doing 30-minute shows. Really? Yeah. Cuz it was just you. Oh, yeah. And then I was just like the man behind the keys. Uh, actually, not even behind the keys. I was just doing the YouTube chat because our old pal Alex was behind the keys. And then we got to an hour, an hour, an hour and a half. Will we ever get to two hours? No. I don’t know. Maybe. Did Did we do 30 minutes when I worked here? No. No. It’s been an hour. A long time. Also, speaking of 30 minutes, knock on wood. If the Jays go to seven tomorrow, pregaming might be 30 minutes and we might just be a live stream of watching the Blue Jays while we talk a little bit of Edmonton Oilers. We’ll discuss further because they’re going to win tonight. We’re not going to have to live in that world. How many people have tickets to the Oilers game tomorrow night and are like, “Yeah, you gotta dump them if it’s Jay’s game seven, right?” Oh, totally. If you’re any amount of a Jays fan, there’s no way you could be at the Oilers game when the team has a chance to win the World Series. No, right. Yeah. I I mean, unless you just don’t care, which is fine. Yeah, just I think How good’s the Wi-Fi for streaming? My parents did that the other day for game whatever the game was on Utah. My mom said they just had they were sitting there missed a goal cuz they were just watching. Bring an AirPod. Maybe like split it with somebody else. Oh, listen to Dan and Buck while you watch. Oh, that’d be good. Um, all right. That is a uh that is a wrap on today’s edition of the show. Uh, good stuff. Lisa Evans, our new teammate. Very excited to have her on board. Appreciate her popping on. Hart, who’s just the best. Every time we have him on, I’m like, why do we not have him on every week? Yeah, he’s a very so much fun with him. Uh, I just want to say something to the chat throughout the week. I feel like we’ve had a lot of new people chime in. The start of the season, we see a lot of new people come in and out. So, I appreciate you guys are commenting. This Papa G commenting right now, I think a pretty levelheaded comments for the most part. I’ve never seen him comment before. So, thank you, Papa G. There’s also a few other people throughout the week being like, “I watch every day, but I never comment, but here’s my comment.” So, thanks for commenting. Leave a like on the video. Mhm. And we’ll be back on Monday, but Aaron will be back tomorrow and post games. Um, and then I’ll come back super tanned. Yes, you will. Sunburn like a spray tan. I’m going to be sunburned. Um, yesterday at the Oilers game they did a little lookalike cam. Like they do that every game, right? And then the last one was someone who looked like Addison Barger. Oh. And then the crowd went nuts when they did it. And then they played the I want it all. Oh, is that song? Yeah. And the crowd got real into it. So, anyone who’s saying they don’t care, Edmonton’s a Jay’s town. Well, the Riverhawks have done a great job making it a baseball town. Yeah, that too. Edmonton’s always had a great great baseball background. Well, Vlad’s dad played here. I don’t know if he would have ever. Wasn’t he a cracker cat? Wasn’t that their whole thing? Cuz that team used to be like whatever the pro team used to be. I think you’re thinking of Conco. No, I think he did. I don’t think that I don’t think he ever played in that league. I know what you’re saying cuz there was like a Wasn’t there a pro team here? Like a double A team or something like that? There was uh there was a AAA team for a while. Um but I don’t think Vlatty senior would ever ever played here. Well, let’s look it up really quickly. We got a minute. Guerrero senior and we want to go to his baseball ref. Uh he played So he was I don’t know how to get his minor league stats. Senior MLB. I just typed in Vlatty Guerrero Edmonson and I got nothing. No, maybe maybe I’m wrong. I thought he did. Uh I can’t find any info on uh he did not. He did not. Triple A. Um yeah, I don’t know if clearly I’m wrong. I can’t find any info on his uh on his whatever career. I could have sworn he did. Yeah. So he was on the José Cono did. Yeah, there was there’s been a few. And like in those AAA teams, there were like good players who’d roll through town. Like Johan Santana was here and all of that. Oh, maybe he just played a game here. He might have played a game against the Trappers, but he definitely would have played for the Trappers. I don’t think played here in Montreal. All right. Uh okay, we got to wrap up because we got to do an episode of Oilers Nation Radio. Oh, notable former Trappers. Here you go. There you go. Michael Cadire. Oh, Michael Kadar is a good pull. Uh David Xstein was a good ball player back in his day. Fernando Valenta. Yeah, that’s his dad. Yep. Yeah. So, Bose’s dad played here. Maybe that was what I was thinking. There you go. Yeah, Bose’s dad played here. Justin MNO. That’s a great one. Miguel Tahada. Matt Stairs. What a beauty Matt Stairs was. Devon White, who is the Tampa Buccaneers. Devon White, who’s going to be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch tonight at Roger Center. Yeah. So, that means he won the World Series Blue. He was a World Series hero for the Jays. Damn. All right, that’s pretty cool. Very cool. All right, new episode of Oilers Nation Radio dropping later on today. Pre and postgame tomorrow. We got you covered. Uh, thank you for tuning in to a great week of shows. The Toronto Blue Jays can win the World Series tonight. I’m so goddamn excited. They better do it. Enjoy your weekend. Enjoy the baseball. It was a tough night at Rogers Place for the Edmonton Oilers, who blew a two-goal lead and fell 4–3 in overtime to the New York Rangers. After a strong second period, the Oilers collapsed late, allowing three unanswered goals in the third and OT. Stuart Skinner stopped 30 of 34 shots but left fans wishing for one more big save when it mattered most.
We’ll recap the entire game with our scoring summary and take a closer look at some of the critical turnovers from Evan Bouchard that helped fuel the Rangers’ comeback.
Later, we’ll be joined by Hart from PuckPedia to break down how the Oilers will need to navigate the salary cap once Zach Hyman returns, and explore what it would take for Edmonton to acquire a goaltender like Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen from the Buffalo Sabres.
To close out the week, we’ll share our NFL weekend bets for Bet365 and welcome Lisa Evans from The Sauce for a Halloween-themed Friday Fun Zone! 🎃👻

Baseball is almost done for the season. Oilers better get it together so i have something to watch.
Bouchard set records in the Stanley cup PLAYOFFS not the Stanley Cup FINAL.
Yup, they need to bench Bouch for a bit and they need to stop playing McDavid and Dri 25 minutes a night. Give them a break. Us the other players. McDavid and Dri couldn't do anything against florida last playoffs, so you need to figure out something else if we get yet another rematch.
The Oilers didnt blow the lead. BOOBSHART AND PURSE DID. Their combined power of giving the puck away and letting the opposition walk in and shoot is their biggest failure.
