Mariners ALCS Game 6 Pregame News Conference
and and break it out of the zone where there’s just not a lot of contact to be made. So, uh, if that split is on, that’s that’s when he’s at his best. Going to the far left. Rick Danny, in that ball game, the biggest outs of that game was Cal Raleigh’s 2-3 double play. Number one, how do you make that play? And did you have a flashback? The only other time it’s been done in postseason play was you and John Olarude back in 2000. Yeah. Uh, I had no recollection of that, honestly. uh which is crazy. But um yeah, I mean I think that’s just a heads up play and I think you know what we’ve seen from Cal behind the plate all season long has been that. But when you get that play out in front of the plate um you know you really want to pounce on it. You don’t want that thing to roll foul because uh you you know um it’s an easy out to step on the plate and be able to get the the double play at first base. So uh I thought that was just a great heads up play by Cal and and um you know made a nice play and it you know got us out of a a pretty big jam. Go to Ryan on the left. Dan, you you spent a lot of your career prior to managing working with catchers throughout the organization. I just was wondering your thoughts on the passing of Jesus Montero and and your thoughts on him. Yeah. Um, you know, you know, obviously, uh, thoughts and prayers are with the family and and, uh, it’s obviously a sad moment. Um, and, um, you know, uh, you always hate to hear that and and especially someone so young and, um, so just, uh, you know, thoughts and prayers are with he and his family. go in the middle. We were talking about momentum. Are you seeing any parallels to when you guys came in here from game one off of the other biggest game in postseason history for for your team the after the 15 game 15 in game then coming in here after the game you guys just had. Are you feeling any any parallels to like the way you guys are feeling? Um I mean I I I I think as as we’ve talked about a little bit earlier, each game is so different. Um and uh um I think yes, we are coming off of an emotional game the other night, but uh you know, again, with the attitude that we have that there’s more work to be done, um I think we come in here, you know, a little bit differently as well. So, um you know, again, each each game presents its own challenges and and uh um you know, I think our guys are focused and and ready to go on what what what’s in front of us tonight. The second row in the middle, the Mariners fans traveled well last weekend. They were here uh cheering on the team. uh what’s your message to them on the the cusp of history maybe? Yeah, I mean uh the fans have been the the faithful, you know, they they’ve supported us all along and and um you know, I think the the idea uh again that that uh we just have to keep our minds focused on on what we have in front of us and and uh uh but we’re grateful for the support that they’ve given us all season long and and uh you know, you can’t do it without them and um you know, we’re hoping to bring this home. Going to the fourth row right for you, Gabe. uh regular season success doesn’t always correlate to the postseason. What is it about Cal beyond the skill set that you you think really has enabled him to just kind of keep going in a sense from what he’s done over this last season? Yeah. Um you know, I think he has, you know, I I think you can watch a player grow up in the game and and see them gain their confidence as they go. I think he’s gained a ton of confidence and um you know, and you see that in a lot of different ways. You see it in his play on the field. You see it in his leadership in the clubhouse. Uh his leadership with the uh the pitching staff and and and how he handles pitchers during the game. I mean it’s just you know his all parts of his game have really grown and um you know you can’t say enough about the job that he has done um both from a physical standpoint just with his skill, his tools, what he’s done on the field for us um but but even the intangibles and the things off the field and again uh he’s done it with a lot of humility and he’s done it because he wants to win and help this team win and and uh that’s been a uh definitely a a momentum builder for us throughout the team is just that that uh that quest and and that push and desire to win games. Go straight in the back right. How is Gabe Spire is a precious asset for your team as a lefty uh in the bullpen since the start of the playoffs? Yeah, Gabes had you know just an outstanding season um from beginning to end and and uh you know for a big chunk of the season was really our only left-hander in the bullpen. So, you know, he he had to carry a lot. Um, and uh, you know, at at the trade deadline, able to pick up uh, Caleb Ferguson who who kind of shouldered some of the load. Um, but, uh, you know, Gabe obviously plays looms large in a series like this. You know, they’ve got a lot of left-handed hitters who are difficult and and, uh, being able to match him up at times with Gabe is is important and uh, um, you know, he has seemingly delivered every time and and has been a huge part of our bullpen coming out of there. Going to the front, Mike. Yeah, Dan. Uh Gino obviously had massive swings in in the last game and and he’d have been scuffling for a while prior to that, but someone who when he gets hot, he gets really hot and he can sustain that. How much can something like that matter for a guy specifically like Gino? Um, I mean, I I I think, you know, we talk about how emotion plays a big part in the postseason and um, confidence is a big part of the the postseason as well and and uh, you know, you hope all with all our guys, you know, when with success comes more confidence and and you hope that continues to carry over as we go and and Gino with just an absolutely huge game. Um, you know, and and uh, to see that, you know, he’s a veteran guy. He understands uh, you know, how that can play into this next these next uh, you know, this next game tonight. and um just really hoping that uh you know he uh continues to do what he has done. Those those swings were huge and and uh you know I think again comes back to focus and where he’s at and and knowing what went into those swings and and just continuing to take that same approach as he goes to the plate tonight. Go on your left in the middle Jordan. Dan, what have you observed uh with the relationship between Cal and Logan, not just since you’ve been manager, but even being around the organization before then? Yeah. Um, you know, I think it’s I think it’s as close to brothers as you can come. Um, you know, they they kind of, you know, when you look at two guys who’ve come up together in the organization and competed a lot together in the minor leagues, um, and then getting a chance now to to compete together in the in the big leagues and, uh, experienced playoffs, uh, you know, together in the big leagues. I mean, they they’ve done it all together. Um, and it’s it’s pretty cool to see. Um, I I think they know each other pretty well. they know how to pre press each other’s buttons which is uh it was just kind of funny at times but uh I I think both of them respect one another tremendously and um I think that you know that the relationship that they have is it goes deep and um you love to see that from your battery especially in a big game like this go one more right in the middle Dan uh you’ve been asked about parallels between games but you were in a similar situation game four in Detroit what do you think your team learned from that experience um obviously having a lead early in that game also uh in a game that you have a chance to close it out but weren’t able to get it done. Yeah, I mean you know uh again these these games take on a mind of their own. Um but uh certainly you can learn from them and and uh tonight I think our focus uh you know I don’t think it changes from what it’s been and and that has been you know we’re going to we’re going to play hard from one to nine and one through nine and and that’s what it’s all about and that’s really what these guys have done you know all all season long and u we talk about the fight that they have the resiliency that they have uh sometimes that resiliency has to happen within the game and and not just from game to game. So, um, you know, we’ll just see how tonight plays out, but but I know these guys will be focused. I know these guys will be prepared and and they’ll be ready to fight. Thanks for coming in, Dan. Appreciate it. Edward Bazardo will be in momentarily. We’ll open up. We’ll start in the front with Brady. Edward, you’re kind of always getting loose in a game early, even though it looks like sometimes they haven’t told you to get loose. Is that just you always wanting to be ready or does it take you kind of a long time to get loose once you get going? Oh, no. That is like my routine. I try to prepare myself for sometime happy injury or something like that. And I just getting ready when they call I going to be like sometime it’s going to be fast and I I almost lose and getting ready to to go to the game. Go straight in the middle. Talk to me about your shirt and uh why you think that and give me your best pitch for why you think that he’s the MVP. This guy got amazing year. He got he got like four years in the big league, but that is the most impressive this year. And that is the MVP because uh make 60 homers is going to be hard and this guy working every day to try to to do it. And that is the the the the best for me for call every day working to to to do that and he made that this year like that is amazing what he do this year for for me go straight back when you’re in a uh roller coaster series like this. How long do you think momentum lasts? Is it a few innings a single game or can it go from the other night to tonight? Uh for me like uh every game represent is represent like uh how important is going to be the this and today like for us is the most important because we are one guy left to to go to the world series and that is the most important try to go out to do the job and that’s what we try to do. left to Dave. Edward, you pitched in all five games of the Tigers series as expected, I’m sure. What have you learned about the workload demands of pitching in the postseason, being ready every single day? Yeah, the the most important is going to be like a try to to throw not too many pitches to get like like try to be fresh for the for the next couple of day. And that was like uh it’s going to be more experience for me like uh next year he we try to go to the playoff. I understand how that work and that that that is like for me was perfect because was my first time in postseason and that helped me to to get more experience in the postseason in postseason too. Go on the back left Tyler Edward you’ve been in the game for a while now. Um this was a real breakout year for you. what what have you been able to discover or or do this year? What have the Mariners helped you to do to have this kind of season? that uh the the opportunity what they give you to me this year that help me to be like a consistent and like uh that that help me to get a good year because I never get back to the minor league and I stay like all year and that was that put me like a good situation to be consistent and they use me in in a lot of spa and I learn about that like like get ready to to throw in tight game but open game too. And doesn’t matter if the game style open, I going to be there like a loose to to try to get to the game. No, uh I just work it the same with my sinker and slider and yeah, I try to to attack the the sound, attack the hitter if that help me to to make the inning quick. Go to Jordan on the left. Can you talk about your experience in the Venezuelan Winter League and uh how that has maybe helped prepare you for success in the major leagues? Yeah, win that’s what I told Winterb help me like when I came back to to to USA I’m loose I’m ready to go because when I get like uh I I didn’t throw for a long time my shoulder getting tightness and I I need to start to like uh start again to getting loose and everything that’s what I play with balling within ball him help me a lot to to getting ready to USA anything All right, Edward, thank you for coming in. Thanks. That’ll wrap up the interview room today.

Pitching staff. Work the corners, stop hanging pitches over the plate. They are looking for any and every mistake
First there was "Everyday" Eddie Guardado, then "Electric" Eddie Diaz.
Now we have "Everready" Eddie Bazardo.
Credit to Bazardo for improving his english
Let's go mariners

Seattle strategy: hurt their best players when the game is out of reach. Your organization is pathetic. So weird how their best players are the ones having to dodge baseballs. As a Yankees fan, your organization is scum. Think about that.
easily the hardest working team in the MLB. all of Washington should be very proud of the Mariners. Thank you for a great season. God bless
