He still wasn’t “good”, but I liked what I saw from Embiid on defense, very encouraging how much more he tried jumping and running the floor last night. It’s fine if he never reaches his former levels, we just need him to be good enough on that end. He got frustrated at not getting fed the ball on offense a couple of times, but overall he seems to have bought into being a less central piece.
Maxey has genuinely taken a next step in terms of his court awareness. I think his handle is still lacking for his position, but he has so many other weapons (quickness, range, the floater) that it doesn’t really matter. Inarguably a top 10 player so far this season, let’s hope it lasts until April.
VJ is a menace. If he can fill up a bit to handle himself better when Forwards try to post him up, he’ll be All-D in no time.
