Miami Heat Loss To Spurs Had Great Bam Adebayo vs Wemby Battle, But More Needed From Ware and Jović

Hey, what’s going on guys? Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel. Back from Music City. Uh, man, what a time I had in Nashville, man. It was a uh a hell of an experience at Dirty Boxing 4. DBX is uh a real thrill and I cannot uh thank that promotion enough for giving me the opportunity uh this year to to do these cards. Uh it’s honestly one of the coolest things that I’ve gotten to do in my broadcasting career. I think everybody knows I’ve been a big combat sports fan if you guys follow my work. Um, and to see something like this, uh, now take it on the road, it’s been, first of all, to do it in Miami was like un freaking believable. And then to, you know, take it on the road was was so cool. And you got to see last night, you know, Gable Stevenson, everybody’s talking about this guy. He may be the next heavyweight champion of the world as an Olympic gold medalist. And I’m going to think back like if that happens one day like man called one of this guy’s you know first first combat sports fights and uh he put on a show but honestly it is tough because you know you get to meet these fighters throughout the week and like I you know got to know the guy that he knocked out Billy Swan’s a great dude great dude great story works his ass off um it’s really hard to be you know when they talk about like, you know, broadcasting a fight, not picking sides, and like you really can’t because you get to know these guys. You get to know their stories, what they’re fighting for. Um, and you’re h so happy for the guys who do well, and then you’re you’re gutted for the guys who don’t. Um, because there’s not a lot of They’re they’re they’re they’re a lot of they’re just great dudes and they’re they’re putting on hell of a show with their bodies for that crowd. And um I really really enjoyed it. Now, in the meanwhile, uh it was a big sports night in South Florida. I got back to my hotel last night at about midnight Nashville time. I watched the Dolphins first because I figured that was going to be like I’m like, “Oh, they got smoked. This is probably going to be the end.” And as you know, Chris Greer ended up getting canned today mugs putting ways. Um, and then I and and then I was like it got to that point it was like 3:00 and I’m like, “All right, I got to get to the airport. I’m a little like droopy eyed. I don’t want to oversleep and miss my flight. Got to be back for trick-or-treating tonight with the uh the kiddos. So, I am just going to go to the airport at like super early for him.” By the way, the airport’s like surprisingly like really busy at this time. So, I Uber to the airport and then I I sit down at my gate and I start watching Heat Spurs because Heat Spurs was also a monster game. Bam rattled the cage of everybody cuz people got all crazy because Bam had the audacity to say that Victor Webmanyama is not the only 74 guy in the history of basketball. Just said a fact. Everybody’s like what? And also it’s like the thing with taking out Victor Webmanyama for Bamabio. It’s like, yeah, he’s done this literally. He takes on guys bigger than him all the time. Why do you think he’s wanted a center next to him? This guy has been battling the Jokers, the Giannises. He’s taking on guys who are bigger than him all the time. And this one is a little freakishly different. Obviously, he’s more skilled than a Boon, but it’s not like I I think Bam said this line where it goes, I think the guys with the microphones are more, you know, takenback by it than us. It’s like, yeah, Bam is a six he’s 6’8 or 6′ n 610 with shoes. Like, you know, it’s he sees tall people. It’s probably not it’s not it’s not as daunting for the for the the six-footers of the weather up there, you know, like it’s it’s crazy. Like we went I remember just being at media day and we’re just sitting there and you know like I’m not a small person and you just go in there and you see Bio and KL We walk around and you’re just like we just we just look at each other we’re like tall. It’s just it’s it it is it is something that like takes you back as a as a normie uh than it does in these the giant. Anyway, um was looking forward to this match up, but to be honest with you, I was looking forward to the Kell wearby matchup, which really wasn’t a matchup. Uh they they come out of the gate in this game and I don’t know if this was by game plan or or bam was like, I got Webby tonight because they started off and they had Kell wear on Harrison Barnes and I was like, that’s a little interesting. Now, I watched half the game at the Nashville airport gate, got through all the way to the third quarter, and then my eyes are starting to get a little like so I’m like, I don’t want to fall asleep here with my laptop in hand. I didn’t have an iPad. I am going to put this away. I will finish the rest of this game when I get boots on the ground at home, which is what I just did. I got to the garage studio. watch the finale, which honestly was it was a really great game o overall. Like, let’s just say this, I this game super entertaining that Spurs team um is a problem. Like, they they’re they’re good, dude. like you know you you see how fast it’s happening for some of these teams in this league like OKC or Memphis a couple years ago and the Spurs with Dylan Harper and Stefan Castle they look like a and obviously when they look like a problem but honestly in the first half I was more impressed by the guard play what those guys were doing. Um, this is what they’ve done. You know, they’ve gotten some good picks. They’ve gotten a stock guys. They got two rookies of the year backto back. Maybe have the chance to have a third one here in Harper. Who knows? They don’t even have deer in Fox. And I don’t, you know, who knows what that’s going to mean. You know, he wanted to be there. So, I imagine that’s going to be something. But, it is it is going to be interesting with uh with this this team and this fit going forward and what he brings. obviously want more talent, but this was a game where, you know, the back and forths were were very very interesting, but there were a couple things that were annoying. Um, there were some there were some terrible terrible calls that like went this went against the Spurs and particularly there was one where it was I think it was Castle. I think it was Castle just gives the old forearm shiver to DaVon Mitchell who had a tough night especially in the fourth quarter but like it was it was like what what what did I just see like are you kidding me and even Eric Reed was like that’s nonsense man and I don’t know Eric Reed I don’t know if he was joking or he didn’t know that he was on if he was trying to talk on the talkback or just forgot or there was wires crossed um which could happen in the podcast booth. Um, he goes, “That’s nonsense, man.” Like, it was just such a dismissive. He goes, “Don’t like it. That’s nonsense, man.” And he goes, “Oh, did you guys hear that?” And I don’t know if that was a bit or not. It’s funny either way. It’s funny either if Eric Reid found himself on a hot mic just saying that’s nonsense, man. Because it’s just such a great professional complaint or if he was doing a bit that’s hilarious. Either way, it was nonsense. It was a It was a bull bleep call. And it was uh it was very very frustrating. And you you kept they kept Yeah. Webby is going to be a tough guy to defend there. There was some chicainery with him. Like even with the the there was a call on Yovic who also had a bad game. Um and it’s like they were like offensive foul. I was like because he was around women. Like what do you mean dude? Like I I don’t get it. The Spurs ended the first quarter on a 10-2 run. Uh Miami had the lead uh or they had the lead uh 33-331 on Miami. Um but a really good back and forth and Bamo got off to a hell of a start. Like all the bluster and bravado that Bam was showing before he he backed it up. Shot a ton of threes in this game, but also like used it as a balance. I think there was a method to the madness. Obviously, you want to make more shots. He put up 13 threes, which I imagine has to be a careerhigh. I didn’t even look it up, but I have to imagine that’s if not a careerhigh, close to a careerhigh for Bama in attempts from downtown. Made four of them. Got off to a hot start, then went kind of ice cold. But he’s going to shoot him. He’s not going to he’s not going to show that he’s timid shooting these things. And he wasn’t also afraid to go at Victor Webbyama. And I think that you could see on many many possessions like he was being very physical with him. He was making life difficult. um and and was having success against him. I mean, he was missing hook shots, he was missing jump shots, he just couldn’t move the same way. Bam just is he’s so People talk about his size and he’s undersized. Dude, he’s so freaking strong. I don’t think people appreciate that for Bam. How strong he is, how much work that he puts in, the athleticism that he has to be able to stand with. We’ve talked about this Jaylen Brunson, Victor Wimyama. I mean, two superstars in this league, but could you get more different? And the only guy who could really like how many guys in the league could truly be a match upon those people at a certain point in a game, significant portions of a game. You know, Bam and Wby was basically the match of the whole game. But like it I just thought Yeah, Bam had a great great night for him. Uh Simony Feekio, mama freaking Thria, dude, continues to just absolutely uh start his heat career on on fire. It was uh it was it’s it’s it’s really great to see. And Andrew Wiggins got off to a really nice start as well. Andrew Wiggins had a great game. No, no, I should mention in this he no Norman Powell. He remains banged up with the groin. We knew that going into this road trip. We mind you, we said this is a road trip road road test for the Heat. Road trip test. Um, but let’s be real, like you you could you can only take so many blows to what you got. And I would say the Heat, you know, showed a lot of guts tonight. I mean, they still found some good production all over the place. And that’s with where really struggling, Yovic really struggling, uh, and Haime Hakez. I would say if ifyama affected anybody and and listen I’ll get to his ending because he kind of obliterated and detonated the heat at the end. He was awesome. But for the most part of a game, the person he probably had the biggest effect on was Haime Hakez. That was uh that that that that stood out. But the the the I would say that Bam probably had the viral moment of the night if it was not WebM’s block to coast to coast to pretty much seal the game. In the meanwhile of that game, Bam got hacked by Wemby and he got no call. Cuz again, look, I know I’m going to sound like a belly here, but whatever. Webinyama was getting like he’s already getting like the Webby rules. Superstar calls. Multiple goalends that were not called on him. He’s he’s just stepping all over the place. No travel calls. He hacked Bam. Bam was pissed. Bam gets the ball back and he throws an absolute hammer down on Victor Webbyama. Poster slam to give the Heat the lead. and it was uh it was awesome. Now he comes right back and uh he gets the slam. So they uh they ended up getting the lead going into the half. But man, highlight reel moment for Bama Autoio. The thing that was noticeable though, I mean like these referees, I mean it was all Spurs. It was like 156 on the free throws going into the next half and then who’s there third quarter. An old friend Miami Heat in the uh in in the third quarter. I mean, just bam. He was slumping. Uh they ended, I think, on a 13-2 Spurs run. Just just uh terrible. He was uh you know, I will say this with Bam Adabio. Love him. He is become the king of like the turnover like where he’s like the quarterback sometimes where his receiver and him not on the same page. Bam has he’s good for one turnover a game where he’s throwing the ball and his teammate has no idea he’s getting the ball thrown to him and he’s just like they’re like what happened it happened in Wiggins. It happens all it happens like once a game with him. All in all great game by Bam. Uh Stefon Castle really got it going with a big steal and score in the second half in the second half of this game. Um, and it was uh it was it was really in this uh in this third quarter. I mean, Spurs got it going. They held Miami to 14 points and you kind of feel like, all right, this might just not be Miami’s night. The thing that’s a crusher, Miami starts the fourth quarter on a 171 run and takes the lead. And you’re just like, whoa, dude. That is a that just shows you hell of a response by Miami. Really really impressive that uh that they were able to get that that they were able to to turn the fortunes of this game. That was a put all the juice that they had because the uh the Spurs would uh respond. You get a big time when Benyama 3 right in Bam’s face. That would get them uh up in the uh the game. And then the big thing for Miami, one thing that’s been a big issue all year, which has been the the giving up offensive rebounds on threes. Like the Heat need to finish out those possessions. That’s if you were going to talk about like what’s been a weakness, what’s been a thing that has really Miami in the ass this year. That that that’s that’s probably my number one, you know, is just like and it’s just kind of what the game is. It’s tough. I know you got to wrangle these longass rebounds, but they got to figure that out uh in some way, shape, or form. And it was uh it it came back and and cost Miami then just just they had back-to-back turnovers and you know one was you know one led to a bar no I’m sorry one was an offensive rebound led to a Barnes three and then Heat turnover that led to a Stfan Castle three and the Spurs were kind of in control by there. DaVon Mitchell, he had trouble taking care of the basketball. Then Webanyama absolutely erased him with a block and then he went coast to coast. Put them up 11. Wiggins would get a three ball to to try and keep the Heat around and then Webby would uh would erase Bam with a big time block late for his fif uh fifth block of the game. And DaVon Mitchell would have another turnover. And that was all she wrote. So look, um, great effort by Adabio, San Fonteio, Wiggins, the taking care of the basketball, not there, and a lot of the Heat Young guys, uh, not productive tonight where it’s tough to argue with the strategy because Bam did have a good game, but I do, you know, I do wonder in a game like this. I I these are the types of games with KL wear where where I’m just trying to figure out like where can he he’s got to figure out where he can make his impact when it’s not scoring because he is basically Let me get up the box score here because he was I mean it it felt like nearly all of his field goal attempts were threes were they all Yeah. He was he had a goose egg last night. Is this the right score? Yes. He had a goose egg. He was zero points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, 0 for4 all three-pointers, and he was minus 20. Yovic a stinker. And by the way, Yoic only played nine and a half minutes. Yesesh. Where 20 he started, but Yovic 0 for five, zero points. He had one rebound, one assist. Um, yeah, that was a stinker from the Heat, Young Bigs, that night. Really? Uh, that that’s one of those where like if I’m going to take it, I’d be like, “Hey, no moral victories. You know, you’re up against it when you don’t have uh the firepower of Norman Powell, but you’re not exactly taking on like a perennial contender. You’re taking on a good team right now cuz they’re 5-0 for the first time in the rich tradition of the Spurs, but they’re a bunch of babies and you you know, so I’m not going to give the pass to the Heats young guys. Like, hey, need you need you to come through in a game like that and they were unable to. Um, but alas, look, Spurs look like they’re an issue, dude. Like, they they look like they are a problem. Um, especially when they got all that help from the referees. My god. Women gets to smack the ball whenever. What is this? Feba. Oh, what are we going? No goalending. You’re just allowed to do whatever you want. Not that I’m complaining or anything. Just because I’m talking, if I talk in a voice like this, it doesn’t mean I’m complaining. Just pointing things out. You know, Greg says, “Step everywhere he wants.” Like, no travel, no dribbles, blah blah blah. A little bit of an epidemic, you know, with all these uh giants getting to step all over the place. Jiannis sent to Goombbo many steps as he wants as many steps as he wants. Let’s dribble the basketball. It’s so big dribble. Anyway, I’m not lashing out or anything like that. So, yeah, I apologize for the late recap. Um, but it was a captivating game. I did want to give my thoughts on it and, uh, I’m looking forward to the next game. The Heat will be back in action on Sunday night against the Lakers. And, um, bada bing, bada boom, baby. It’s good to be back in South Florida. I love you guys. I appreciate the support and um you know, you’re the

  1. I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan, and I had three games on my schedule to see how Victor Wembanyama is adjusting to NBA defenses: Miami Heat, Rockets, and OKC. Those three teams have coaches who really come in with a plan to make your life difficult. If Wemby survives those three coaches, in my opinion, he becomes truly unstoppable. He passed the first test, but it was incredibly difficult. Coach Spo is unbelievable! It's almost funny how good he is.

  2. Banged up groin lol great choice of words! We secretly put together a great team and it’s definitely noticeable. Are they ready for every team? I don’t think so, but we are only a few games in and I think we’re going to be somewhere in the middle of the pack for the playoffs🎉

  3. Against drop coverage our Bigs have to hit 3's.
Also, what killed us at the end is we stopped playing our game. We were looking for the perfect shot and ended up turning the ball over too much instead of taking the shots they were giving us early in the shot clock.

  4. 23 FTs to 11 FTs is the game and Wemby goaltended at least 3 times. Spo also didn't pull the right levers with the rotation this game. Too many Pella minutes but Ware and Niko played like some cheeks.

  5. Also if Spo isnt going to get Ware involved and expects him to do nothing but rebound then he might continue to get thr Ware you saw last night. Norman Powell unlocks just about everyone including Ware which is why the sooner he gets back the better

  6. spurs blocking the passing lanes that Ware and Jovic rely on. While Simone is a veteran and can lead a team always find a way to score its clear who the heat gonna prioritize to be more competitive team.

  7. Ware needs a get back next game. There’s no excuse for being a 7 Footer and not demand the ball for mismatches in the post. 0 points vs the spurs was disgusting and disappointing

  8. lmao. To be fair to ware despite this being his second season. He hasn't really played relevant minutes last season so basically you can argue this is his first season playing with very important minutes on him, idk, he hasn't been in the league for long so I can excuse him for that.

But Joviiiiic duuuuude. No matter what spo sees in him I am not convinced. It might not be his fault he is playing that bad but dude has no idea what he needs to do on the court. He look so lost. What exact is his role there. Is spo playing him to improve the offense? Or the defense? It looks like he is trying to be both and failing at both lol.

  9. 2 goaltends not called and our challenge lost on the most clear pushoff foul you can see in the first half. If we didn’t play the game of our lives we would of lost that game. NBA really wanted that “first 5-0 in spurs history” but we also played like sh*t in the third
