4. The problem Bam will always have is unless you’re watching the Heat with great regularity, it is easy to dismiss his impact because the counting stats may look better with other contenders. Without a lot of nationally televised games, he’s not going to get the respect he deserves from the media.

   It fits his personality to just go out there and be great without all of the political bs. He’s just going to show up and crush all of the potential DPOYs every time he’s going against them.

6. Voters not wanting to give Wemby a DPOY on top of an MVP in the same year feels like the only way Bam is getting his. Sad he’s had a bunch of bums steal DPOYs and now he’s stuck competing with this super human that the press loves.

8. How is the DPOY political? He’s not bad he’s an All-Star-level player but he’s not elite in any one defensive aspect. Opponents shot roughly 62–63% at the rim against him last year (league average for starting centers is around 65%, while DPOY-tier guys are in the 55–58% range). And if your franchise’s best player is a “B+” defender who gives you “B offense,” you’re probably hovering in purgatory: too good to tank, not good enough to contend.
