Best season in years with 2nd year melo and fired because of a play in loss. Have built very little off of that season.

  1. He accomplished too much for this franchise we weren’t use to the 30+ wins every season

  2. 2 blowout play-in losses will do that. He’s a good coach tho wish they had stuck with him.

  3. Cuz we thought we could get Kenny Atkinson when our front office was a cheap POS

  4. He was a fine coach, but he also had the benefit of having a healthy Melo and Hayward.

  5. A team don’t hit the position we’re in with one bad decision. It’s a snowball of bad moves that leads to where we are.

  6. He lost the locker room halfway through his second season because he thought he could treat the team like he’s Greg Popavich without having the same resume.

Great offensive mind but fucking negative people skills as far as player management is concerned.

  7. He lost the locker room including Lamelo I remember that there was a awkward situation on the bench in one game

  8. The fact that he hasn’t gotten another head coaching gig since leaving the Hornets tells the story.

  9. Borrego truthers when you ask them if he was so good, why isn’t he a HC somewhere rn: 😳

  10. I mean. It seemed like a fine decision initially. The team had basically agreed on a deal with Kenny Atkinson to replace him (a good coach clearly by how well he’s done with Cleveland) until the deal soured over (reportedly) coaching assistants. But probably other logistical stuff too.

Atkinson would have gotten a roster with a few good players to build with — LaMelo, Bridges, PJ Washington. Maybe with some luck, Terry Rozier stays away from sports betting in this alternate timeline. Gordon Hayward still has a couple OK years left, and maybe they have better draft luck.

  11. Did you see how the team looked in those play in games? He clearly had no ability to ready a team for a big situation game.
