Washington Capitals at Buffalo Sabres | FULL Shootout Highlights – November 1, 2025

So, the Sabres, who have a point in five straight outings, have another one here. They want two points. It’s the first shootout for either team this season. Jack Quinn the first to shoot. The shooter takes it wide to the right. Cuts in and Lind makes the stop. Not a lot of speed on the approach from Jack on that one. No. And when they do that, they’re waiting for the goalender to make some kind of a move and open up a little bit so they can fire the puck. They’re so good at firing the puck so quick and a good release and hard that as soon as a goalender makes any move at all that he may open his legs or drop his arms. That’s what they’re looking for. All right, here is Stro walks into the slot with a deep and a save by Lucin. A big left pad there by Lucin and coming back across and coming in on the right side going to his forehand fakes and tries coming back to the backhand looking to go over that pad and glove and Lukan stays right with him. You see he got his skate right tight to the post had good leverage. Tage Thompson with the puck now for Buffalo. More speed with Thompson walking in trying to go tough shell. He had him. He had him down out and he just missed. Yeah, see that on his face right there. So close. He come in with a lot of speed here. Puts the move on. Goes backhand, forehand, and then looking to go short side right up top. And he puts it past the post. Anthony Bollier, the second shooter for the Capitals. Lucan off to his left. Bavilier back to the middle. Save again. Pass save. Uko Pekka Lucan. You see how he’s keeping his body up? Even though he’s getting his pads wide when they start going across, he’s down, but his body is still up. So, he’s able to get his arms up and down. And right there, does a nice job staying with that one. Might have had the stick and blocker down in front of the pad. Alex Tuck looking to score the first goal of this first shoot out of the season for Buffalo. Alex Tuck left circle now to the middle with a deep scores. No, that stayed out. It went behind off the post and back out. [Applause] Take a look here. Alex comes in, puts the move, just kind of fakes it right there. And shooting throw for Washington number 24. Conor Mcichael for Washington. Lucan out to challenge. Mcichael holds it. Backhand. Misses the net all together. And we continue on into round number four. Yeah, why not? got nothing else to do. Mcichael comes in. He’s on the forehand. He pulls it directly across the backhand. He’s got the right move because the glove was there but just put it over top of the net. Number 27, the captain Darlene takes the puck at center. He’s got speed coming in over the line now. Stops then picks it up again in the glove of Charlie Lingren. Check this little stutter step out as he comes in. He puts the brakes on and then little stutter step just trying to get Lingren moving, but he stayed right with him. Well, ladies and gentlemen, well, you know him well, Alex Ovetchkin in the shootout. Takes the puck between the circle by Lucinan. Tried to sneak it in and Lucinan closes the door. And we continue. I don’t know if he tried to sneak it or he just lost it. He’s making the move right there. He tries pulling it back across going to the back hand and you see the puck get up on the edge a little bit and just roll off the end of his stick. Number four from Dene to Byum. Byum circle to the left. Shoot. Scores. [Music] He was hunting for a goal there and he found it. Yeah, if you want the job done, you got to put a D in these situations. They simplify things. Shoot the puck and there there was no room for him to shoot that puck and he just let it rip just inside the post. Excellent shot by Bowen Barum. Ryan Leonard with the puck now for the Capitals way over to the left wing boards. walks in. Deep saved by Luffin and Sabres get the two points. The point trend continues for Buffalo. This time they get a pair. Yeah. And you know what? Very, very slow start for the team, but they recover from it and give them an awful lot of credit from that. in the past they might have crumbled and it might have been a totally different story but they’re able to settle things down and get it under control. That man right there make big saves when they needed to. They got a few goals. [Music]
