2. Well. Time to install MLB The Show (24, because I refuse to buy a game that is still running on the previous gen when we’re 5 years into PS5).

4. As a Giants fan, I’m… bitter as hell about the end result, but that was definitely one of the best Fall Classics we’ve seen in the last 30 years. Maybe even the best? Off the top of my head, 2001 and 2016 would be the main competition. 2017 would’ve been in the discussion, too, if it weren’t for… y’know.

5. If the league doesn’t fix the salary caps and add a floor to spread out the best players is there even a point to all this?

6. Remember that time when the Dodgers and Blue Jays forgot to stop playing baseball?

7. When those fox play by play shitheads said, regarding Springer: “He is the heart and soul of this franchise” I wanted to punch their faces to the fucking moon and back, and tell them to go lay down with the racist fucking Steinbrenner.

   Vladdy is the heart and soul of the Jays, and anyone who disagrees can suck on my Trident.

8. Feel bad for Don Mattingly. Poor guy has been missing that elusive World Series ring for literally decades.

11. There will be time to talk about the economic health of the sport in the future, but right now all I can think is *god, I love baseball.* Even though I was rooting for the Jays, I feel so fulfilled this morning.

12. What an insane WS. Some highlights off the top of my head: Longest game in WS history, longest (or 2nd longest?) game 7 ever, most innings in a WS, a game 7 bench clearing, Ohtani’s nutty 9-on-base streak game, Yoshi winning 3 of the games (and preparing to pitch in the other Dodger win for the 19th inning), Kershaw’s final outing, back-to-back WS titles. Plus I’m sure there are dozens of other notable footnotes and broken records I am forgetting about because it seems like a new record was broken or “1st time ever” happened ever other inning for all 7 games. I know Toronto also had a ton of achievements and legendary performances I didn’t mention from Vlad, Clement, Bo – the whole team.

    Regardless of conversations about a salary cap, which I can see is going to continue to be a big talking point in the sport, you cannot deny that was an insanely awesome World Series. It may be a long time before a world series builds that kind of suspense, drama, and history again – maybe never in our life times.

13. I remember my dad always saying, “the Big Red Machine could never exist today. It would be too expensive” (we don’t have much more to talk about than 50 year old teams in Cincy).

    Well, Dodgers basically built a close contemporary version, and I want to hate them. They spent the money, got the players, invested in other infrastructure. But I can’t. They didn’t break any rules, they spent money instead of pinching Pennie’s like Nutting and so many other owners. It makes me despise the cheap owners.

    They treat it like the team, which means so much more to millions of laypeople, like a number on an Excel sheet. Squeeze out every penny until it’s dry and the fandom is killed then sell for unfathomable profits. It’s bullshit.
