On today’s episode of Lockdown Wild, we will discuss some interesting happenings so far for the Minnesota Wild with Alex Mleti. uh captains already being consulted as to try to figure out what is wrong with the Minnesota Wild 10 games in. I don’t think you need the captain’s help to do that. Uh also, we’re going to play a little bit of what year did John Hines say it? What team did John Hines say it with? Um I’ve got some clips ready to rock. I I can’t wait for that. And we’ll look ahead to the schedule as the Wild’s coming off of a rough road trip. Well, their home stand just started rough as well. My name is Seth Toppel, host of Locked on Wild, credentialed media member, bringing you full access to the Minnesota Wild here for the 2025 2026 season again and joined by Alex Mleti for a Tuesday edition. my schedule just bonkers again. But uh bringing you a Tuesday edition of the show and uh Alex, it was uh was a rough weekend for the Minnesota Wilds. They lose to Utah and then to the San Jose Sharks. They fall behind by multiple goals in both games. Uh kind of get it closer, but then give up a couple of goals to push the lead back out in both games. Um, 10 games in, lots lots to pick at, lots to discuss. I mean, five on five scoring non-existent. Defense has been very hit or miss. Goalending’s been hit or miss. Special teams have been mostly miss. Um, this uh th this is this is treacherous to uh to say the least, big time. And the turnovers, I think, are the worst part of everything. even, you know, Carell Capri off making some mistakes uh defensively and and causing goals to to go against uh the Wild and they’ve been behind the eightball a lot recently and you know it’s to make so many comebacks it’s it’s just it it’s you can’t play this type of hockey all season. No. and Bill Garin uh in talking with Michael Russo and Joe Smith tried to equally kind of throw some water on the flames but also was like we don’t have to put this out just yet. Um some interesting quotes here that uh that Garren said. He said, “We can’t sit here and try to figure out without talking to now there was some intelligence gathering this past week. Bill Garin and John Hines both talking to Jared Spurgeon, Marcus Feleno, and Carell Capri off. One of which was done in person, which is a m minute minute detail, but still I was like, “Oh, huh, that’s kind of odd.” Um, but basically Bill Garren and John Hines talking to the leadership of this team to try to get a sense as to what is going on with this roster and and where the problems lie. And I don’t know if it needs to be that deep. I mean, just look at what’s going on out on the ice. Yeah, there’s no there’s no it’s pretty uh cookie cutter on on what’s what’s happening. And the goalending is it’s it’s frustrating, too. You can’t give up five, six goals a game. There’s that’s not a winning recipe for for hockey, too. So, both the goalies have to have to step it up here. As well, um Garren saying it’s early, but you can’t ignore it. You can’t say, “Oh, we have 70s something games left.” It doesn’t work like that. If you fall too far behind or you’re not solid at the beginning, you can really put yourself in a bad spot for the playoffs. So, it is serious. I’m concerned because it’s very fixable. I’m concerned because we’re not playing for our identity. And hearing that quote, I will again go back to what exactly is the identity for this team? Like we we’ve heard last year, we’ve heard this year as well that the identity is hard work. The identity is, you know, getting to pucks, winning puck battles, working on the edges. Like that is no different than what Dean Evson tried to pin the identity as with this team. And at some point, you’re going to have to address the elephant in the room, which is the lack of scoring talent on this team. 100%. And uh they’re running into a lot of younger teams that have a lot of team speed that’s causing issues for this uh defensive core and uh some of the older forwards are having trouble keeping up as well. And so, you know, you you see the joke today from Russo or yeah, yesterday the top, you know, the the three stars in in the league this week all played the Wild. Logan Culie, Jack Hughes, Mlin Celibbrini. It’s, you know, if you want to get an award, I guess, uh, play the Wild early here. Yeah, no kidding. Um, Billy would not divulge what he learned from the wild leaders, saying, “The only thing I would share with you is they are with us. They are equally concerned and want to work it out and want to figure it out and get back to it. The one thing I know is I could sit up here and criticize a lot of things, but I never question how much this team cares and how much they want it, how much they really want to get better.” And and look, like I’m I’m not a huge fan of of questioning like the effort and all that stuff. And I I think we just we we’ve gotten to the point where I think the team is either too comfortable, the team is too old, the I think there are a lot of things that are problems with this team. And to be quite honest, I said it in the postcast after the the Sharks game, I think the team has just gotten comfortable over the last few years because it’s mostly the same mix. And if you get comfortable, you die. Like, if you get comfortable as a team, you get comfortable with the group that you’re with. you get comfortable doing things a particular way in a rapidly changing landscape in sports, especially in the NHL as we continue to go more towards speed and skill on every team except for this one apparently. You get comfortable and all of a sudden you look up and a couple of years have passed you by and you’ve really done nothing to improve the roster whatsoever. And the only thing that happened was everybody on the roster got older. And that’s exactly where we’re at right now. It’s almost comical the situations that they’re putting themselves in as well. Look at, you know, Trenian, he he had a wide open net. Anybody, anybody that’s played hockey could have scored that. And he somehow misses it and then gets the second one blocked. They control the play in overtime. They have all the shots and it all it took is is one bounce. Celbringy hops off the off the bench and and scores. Yasper had he didn’t even Yeah, it was I Yeah, you can’t you can’t really make that up. And San Jose was only able to make one that one change. The other guys were out there the other two were out there the entire time. It just it’s baffling how they’re losing some of these games as well. And uh you look at the standings in Utah, they’re they’re for real. They they they are out to to make the playoffs. You know, Logan Culie turned down all that money and it’s looking like it’s, you know, paying off for him the way he’s starting out. And Nick Schmoltz is just terrorizing the Wild when when he plays. And yeah, they’re they’re for real. And uh you know, we’ve we’ve mentioned it on previous episodes, too. these teams that were considered pushovers, they’re they’re not pushovers any longer and it uh comes down to that team speed and uh they’re blown by the Wild. And with the inability to consistently score, you fall behind 3 nothing in the first five minutes of the game and you spend the the entire rest of the game chasing. you have opportunities in front, but because you have so many players on this roster that are just not natural scorers, like it’s tough. You like you just you can’t miss those opportunities. Like Vladimir Tureno had a couple of those right in front of the net where he just is not able to bury them. And it’s like he’s getting prime minutes, too. It’s one thing to have It’s one thing to have bad puck luck, but it’s another thing to just be inaccurate because scoring has never been your forte. And now all of a sudden you’re on a roster where you’re being asked to be a scorer, which is something that you just you just aren’t, right? And they’re, you know, San Jose, they are an upand cominging team, but they’re still horrible defensively. And not every team is going to allow you to make those comebacks when when they’re up. You know, you you look at, you know, Utah, they, you know, the Wild crept in a little bit, but then they, you know, they put the the speed, you know, uh, you know, pedal to the metal and, uh, they said, “No, Wild, you aren’t uh you aren’t going to get this comeback.” So, yeah, they’re only going to play better defensive teams and they they can’t be left behind. Yeah, we’ll talk about who’s coming up this week with Winnipeg, one of the best teams in the Central Division. Like you do that against the Jets and all of a sudden you’re down five nothing in the first five. Conor Hellbuck’s not Hell Buck’s not letting uh letting you make a you know three four goal comeback. But hey, at least they only have to worry about getting back to their their proper competitiveness and uh compet compete level. Um we’re going to play the the cliches, the we’re going to play a little bit of a game when we come back here. Uh, what year or what team did John Hines say it for? I got a couple of examples of quotes, and honestly, it’s impossible to tell these apart, but we’re going to try. Uh, we’ll discuss that as we continue today’s episode of Lockown Wilds after this. Once again, we thank you for making Lockdown Wild your first listen each and every day. Again, make sure to like and subscribe so you don’t miss out on any new episodes throughout the week. Alex, I’m going to start with a softball here. So, I’ve got some quotes from different parts of the John Hines tenure. Um, and we’re going to try to figure out which which team they came from. So, you got the Devils, you’ve got the uh the Predators, and you got the Minnesota Wild. I’m going to start with a softball here. Uh we need to be focused on solutions. Did that come from the Wild, the Predators, or the Devils? That definitely sounds like the wild for word salad. That was literally That was Saturday. So, what is he what what is he even talking about, man? had had to start with a softball. It’s going to get progressively harder, such as this next one in which Hines said, “I thought the Johansson line was our best line of the night. I I liked their ability to get to the net and battle. Was that the Devils, the Predators, or the Wild?” Well, he played in New Jersey, right? Is I’m going to go with New Jersey. It’s actually Nashville. Wow. Ryan Ryan Johansson. Oh, I like it. Trying to be a little That was sneaky. Yeah. Um but yeah, he was talking about Ryan Johansson and their battle level, their competitive who’s out of the league now, too. Yeah. Um another one is often times games come down to goalending and special teams. When you get good goalending, you’ve got to have a goalender that can give you about a 920 save percentage in this league. If you get that, you’ll be fine. If not, that’s when you have to try to play catchup. Was that the devils, the predators, or the wilds? Oh my goodness. Uh, the wild again. That was actually the devil. Okay. My goodness. You You can’t make it up. You can’t make it up for Hines and his word word salads. My point here being is that it’s been the same thing. Like I listen to I listen to three or four post games from each tenure and the same types of uh the same types of phrases have been used at each stop. And ironically, the comment section on each video has been saying some of the same things. Like one of the games I listened to was the opening game of the season. Uh I think his second year in Nashville or third year in Nashville and the first comment on it was we need to make a change at head coach. This team continues to do the same things and expects different results. And it’s funny because, you know, let’s go back to when Dean Evon was relieved of his duties. Like John Hines was brought in and it was pretty obvious, you know, you you weren’t going to see huge changes because it’s hard to make massive sweeping changes to a a team during the season. So you bring in a guy who is runs a pretty similar structure to what Dean Evon did. John Hines used the word grit quite often with New Jersey and with Nashville. Um, ironic that he has not used it nearly as much here, but I think that’s because his predecessor did. That was the calling card for the Minnesota Wild with Dean Everson before John Hines got here. So, John Hines couldn’t use it. And he’s not getting the same out of those guys that that that Dean did, the the Grinders. they’ve kind of fallen flat on their face. Uh the only the only one that’s really made a step is is Ryan Hartman at times, but you know, this team has this team has so many grinders that are in spots that if they were on another team, they’d they’d all be on the fourth line, right? So, it uh that’s that’s where the the the big issue is. And but but you also bring up that it’s hard to make a trade right now because of where the Wild are in the standings. There isn’t really many teams below the the Wild in the standings right now. And I don’t think San Jose is going to give up any guys to the the Wild right now. No. The teams that you could make a trade with right now include the Boston Bruins who got boat raced again. They got destroyed. Watch out for our friends locked on senators. They can they can really pump in the goals. Seven to two. Uh the New York Rangers, which pretty much exact same situation. Pretty much the exact same situation with the Minnesota Wild. That just looks like a team that needs a defibrillator. Like they need to be jolted out of there. They can’t win at home either. Yeah. No, they until they played the Minnesota Wild, they had not scored a goal at home. We were the the Wild were the elixir. Uh you could also ask the Calgary Flames, but guess what? None of the guys on that roster can score. So, that’s not going to help you out. The one guy that can score, they aren’t moving right now, is Codrey. And uh you know, he’s making a ton, but he would he would really fit in well with the Wild, that’s for sure. And I’m like I’m of the belief I was pretty adamantly vocal about this on Saturday night after the uh after the Sharks game. You know, I I I’m more looking at an addition by subtraction. I feel like this roster just needs like a jolt, a shakeup. And I I think you just I think you got a group of players. They’re awfully comfortable with their situation. And I think that has led to I think that’s led to a just where where are the where are the consequences if this goes south? Like who is who is paying the price for this going south? I tweeted that out and somebody responded and said the fans. And honestly that’s that that’s not that’s not wrong. You see how much tickets are and how much fans spend just just on parking to get get to the arena and and in and beer and and food and to to bring a family is it’s super expensive and you can’t be losing so many games at home especially to a team like San Jose too is I mean right now they are still terribly defensively they they do have the the next face of of hockey and Mlin Celabbrini but you can’t can’t be losing to a team that’s not fully ready to to win uh consistently. Well, it’s it’s fine. I mean, we just have we just have to wait until we just have to wait until the Perez suit or cap hits are gone. We just have to wait until the buyouts are done. We can actually spend money and go uh go make some moves to impact this rot. Oh, wait. That was that was an easy excuse, but uh you know, Bill Garren didn’t have to give all these no trade clauses and extensions when they weren’t uh necessary because now when you do have the opportunity to improve your team, a lot of those guys are you can’t move them at all. And then you have to look at uh guys in Iowa, but all these teams are scouting the AHL games. And yeah, Iowa is a nightmare. They’ve won a couple here, but uh it’s a nightmare roster down there. And it’s it’s going to be fascinating to watch that Iowa situation play out because I I like I will actually say I I do think that Greg Greg Cronin can coach. Yeah. Like I I think he if anybody’s got a chance to get something out of that roster, I think he certainly can, but that’s going to be that is going to be a test. It’s very telling that, you know, a guy like Carson Lambos that he’s he has no chance at sniffing the Wild roster. They would rather, you know, re reclaim uh Damon Hunt. And poor Damon Hunt doesn’t even get to play. So, He hasn’t even touched he hasn’t even touched the lineup since he came back. Mentally, he’s got to be in a pretzel, too. It’s just uh you know, he thinks he actually this is his chance to uh to get in with the Wild and but then he’s up in the press box uh having popcorn. I It’s just like people if people are ever concerned like you’re being awfully alarmist at this stuff. It’s like like I said in the episode that aired yesterday, these are not new problems. This is this is a multi-year this is a multi-year concern and it’s a multi-year problem that is going to require a multi-year solution and everybody just everybody just operates as if nothing’s wrong. Well, what’s what’s different now is everything is falling apart at the same time. In the past, it was just parts, but now it’s everything. And when your superstars are making mistakes, too, that’s a cause for for for a big alarm. And uh, you know, there seems to be a disconnect with with the coaching staff and and the players. I mean, you you brought it up the other night, uh, you quote tweeting Dylan Lok, and the penalty kill hasn’t changed. Yeah, it’s still near the near the bottom of the league. It’s gotten worse. The assistant the new assistant coaches were supposed to help with that. And you can’t you can’t win with in this league with it being that that bad. It it has gotten worse and they are taking the second fewest penalties in the league and it’s still getting worse. You can’t make that up. And that’s, you know, that’s how, you know, that’s how the teams are getting, you know, two, three goal advantage because they’re getting the, you know, the one or two power play goals that they need. And, you know, the Wild are chasing and not playing desperate enough uh to to get back in the games. It just it just looks as though it’s it’s a team that you know you would you would expect this you would expect this from Edmonton and Edmonton I know they’re they’re four four and two so they’re four and six you’d expect this from Edmonton because they have been to the Stanley Cup final the last couple of years and you would expect that losing in the fashion that they have the last two seasons. You would expect that that would at some point catch up with you and you may have players that come in and I just it takes them it takes a lot for them to find that next gear. You’d expect that you you could say that and I would be perfectly fine with that as an explanation for why they’re playing that way. What’s the excuse here? They have none. They lost in the first round and they were able to to go golf uh right away. There is no there is no excuse. You can’t uh you can’t say that there was really any change to the roster really either other than you know Terasenko but he’s been a no-show for the most of his uh most of his time here you I mean Urach playing fully but that you know that’s that’s there’s no excuse and you you know you signed Phil Gustin to that big deal and ever since he signed that it’s been kind of nightmarish. ish for him in that. And uh poor Esper is getting, you know, he gets these back end of the back to backs and it uh yeah, it just seems like the team in front of him is not not even close to being ready to to play. You know, Wes Wall said the other night, you can’t uh can’t show up for, you know, at 7:30 for a 7:05 game. It’s just uh it’s unacceptable. Yeah. And again, I I circle back to it feels like they need feels like they need a big push cuz this is like you got to do something about this. And um I I don’t feel like it’s too early into the season to be ringing the alarm bells because this is not a one this is not a one-off. It’s not a one-year problem. All of these issues have been just seeping into the foundation for the last couple of years and now you like you’ve started to pull some of the plywood away from the basement and there’s rot. There’s rot. There’s cracks in the foundation and you have just been painting over them for the last couple of years and you got a bad problem. Look at all the backtobacks because of the condensed schedule and you can’t uh you know when you have those backtobacks you can’t be getting one out of four points or or no points because your you your rivals in the division are are piling up wins on backtoback nights and you know that’s why Utah’s on such a big heater and uh they they are for real and that’s a team that maybe when you know you were prog prognosticating that you wouldn’t think that would be in in the top three. Well, they’re giving a heck of a fight to to be in that top three. And so then a team that you think is going to be in the top three is snagging one of those wild card spots. And then where does that leave the Wild? Uh because they continue to be little brother to the likes of Dallas, Colorado in Winnipeg when uh you know Hella Bucks and Nets and so it it makes things really difficult to to find wins at least right now. Well, at least the schedule eases up. Oh, wait. Uh, some interesting games coming up this week for the Wild, including the upstart Pittsburgh Penguins, who have rallied behind their franchise superstar and are actually playing quite well to start the season. They come to town on Thursday. So, we’ll talk about the upcoming schedule for this week and uh why points are going to be hard to come by. that’s on the way as we continue today’s episode of Locked on Wild after this. Today’s episode of Locked Wild is brought to you by FanDuel. The NBA is back and there is no better place to get in on the action than FanDuel, the official sports betting partner of the NBA. Even if you missed the start of the game or want to ride the hot hand, FanDuel has live bets on everything from who will score next to fourth quarter comebacks. Plus, you can even combine your live bets into a same game parlay for a shot at a bigger payout. Anthony Edwards out for at least the next week. So, my suggestion would be Julius Randall all the overs on all of the stat lines. He had 33 points the other night um to kind of get things going for the home opener. So take the over every chance you get on Julius Randall and you’ll thank me later. Right now FanDuel is giving new customers $300 in bonus bets when your first $5 bet wins. So head to fanduel.com to sign up and play your game with FanDuel, official sports betting partner of the NBA. Final segment of today’s episode of Lockown Wild. Once again, we thank you for making Lockdown Wild your first listen each and every day. Alex, on the schedule this week for the Minnesota Wild, the Winnipeg Jets, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Vancouver Conucks. And the thing that those three teams all have in common is they all are, I think, exceeding expectations as to what we thought they would be this year. The Winnipeg Jets, I expected that there would be a little bit of a fall off in their game. Um, really hasn’t been. I mean, they are six and three, but Connor Halabuk continues to do Conor Hobbuk things. And you talk about uh little brother syndrome. Um Winnipeg’s another team that has had their way with the Minnesota Wild for the last couple of seasons. And the top line of that Jets team has been dominant. Uh Mark Shifley, he is making a big push to try to make that team Canada at the Olympics. And Kyle Connor got a huge deal as well. And so he’s trying to, you know, to prove that he’s worth all the money that that he signed for. Gabe Valardi was that was a steal for getting him from from LA. He’s really starting to blossom. And uh their back end is is really underrated, too. And Moresy is a stud. Pian, the you know, Herman Town Kid is is great. And, you know, Hella Buck just is is so rock solid. He’s going to be right up there for the Vzna for for a long long time to come here still. And uh who knew Jonathan Taves, you know, he makes the the trip to India, he is out of the NHL for a couple years, comes back and he finds uh finds his game again. And you know, they have old friend Neato Nina Riders still and Alex Aalo who they also got from from that Kings team. And so, yeah, they are still a sneaky bunch. Uh, somehow Gustaf Nyquist playing 13 and a half minutes a night, has three points in nine games, which is a couple points more than he had in his tenure with the Minnesota Wild after the trade deadline last year. Um, you go from that to the 72 and one Pittsburgh Penguins. I don’t think anybody saw this coming, but uh Sydney Crosby, Justin Brazzo with five goals already for the Pittsburgh Penguins. And uh this is a Penguins team that can uh score from a lot of different places. And uh this this is not going to be any sort of an easy easy game for the Minnesota Wild on Thursday either. getting rid of Mike Sullivan was did the trick it looks like for the Penguins. Hey, what a what a bright idea to to start fresh. And uh you know, Dan Muse has done done a heck of a job. And yeah, they are defining the founding of youth and some of their older guys. Eric Carlson looks looks like he, you know, is playing like when he played for Ottawa back back in the day. F. Genny Malcin is it might be his last year in the NHL and he’s he’s found a a new gear and uh and yeah, like you said, Sid’s Sid’s playing phenomenal. Brian Rust has has been great as well. And you know, they’re getting timely goalie from from Jarry somehow and you know, he beat the Wild uh you last season on national TV. So, we’ll see if they they throw him back out there and you know, see if he can continue his good play against the Wild. And you finish it up with the five and five Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver um you know they’re they’re right in the middle of the pack, but you know who to keep an eye out for in this game. Connor Garland, uh Elias Person, Quinn Hughes, Brock Besser. Uh they have plenty of different players that they can attack you with. And on the back end, you know, the the goalending has been Thatcher Demco has been as advertised. Kevin Lankanin not so much. Um any of these goalies any of these goalies are capable of turning away a majority of the Minnesota Wild shots if they continue to do what they have done, which is to try to revert to the perimeter style of play. you do that and you you could if you do that the opposing goalies could set up a sleeping bag in the crease and just uh just take a nap. There’s a ton of speed on all these teams and you know I I’ve mentioned in this episode the the a dynamic defenseman that all these teams have upcoming. Uh they can they can move the puck so well. Quinn Hughes is he’s one of my favorite players to to watch in the league. just, you know, what he does. He’s so smart. And Eric Carlson is still getting the job done. I, you know, I mentioned Josh Morrisy is is phenomenal, too. And, uh, yeah, they have to, you know, these teams also like to be physical as well. So, you, you know, look at Vancouver added Vander Kane, who’s always been a pest, uh, against against the Wild. So, you know, look out for him. You know, Pittsburgh’s got got a lot of physicality, too. Anthony Mantha has joined that team. He scored tonight against the Blues and Afghani Malcin likes to throw around the body still and uh you know same with the Jets old friend uh well not old friend but Logan Stanley’s uh out there. So we’ll see if any nonsense becomes you know with that against uh if he’s out there against Capriov. So yeah, we’ll see. And uh all these teams are getting you know timely goaling like you said as well. And you know the the reason that this is pointed out is because there is no sort of just like layup part of the schedule. Like there’s no part of the schedule where you can say, “Oh, okay. This is going to be the stretch that we get back on track.” Like you have to go out there and you have to earn it. And the only way that you’re going to do that is, as I laid out yesterday, effort and attentiveness. being attentive to what is going on on the ice. If I see somebody give up a goal where it hits off their stick and goes in, so help me. Already seen like five of those this year. Effort and attention, attentiveness. They they just they need to be you need to be head on a swivel at all times and go out there and and treat it as if your season is on the line. Like because it very likely is. And if you just continue to kind of go through the motions, you can’t be surprised at the results. The urgency can’t just start in the third period, right? They they need it right away because teams have been jumping on the wild early and then it just it it leads to to more, you know, turnovers. They they you know, they can’t get any of the puck luck. But it’s also you know just everything that is becoming negative still you know just steamrolls you know when they are playing from behind contrary to popular belief I don’t like just sitting here and just griping about everything but at this current moment like it it is this this this first 10 games of the season has not been good and in another 10 games you’re going to be a quarter of the way into your season and guess what then that’s at the point where it’s like, well, you pretty much are what you are. So, these next 10 games, you got to treat them, you got to treat them with as much urgency as they warrant, which is a lot. We’re already seeing it. And with the fan base, you know, they’re they’re they’re they wanting uh, you know, Peter Dbor or John Tordella. You’re hearing names like that thrown out there. TORTORELLA
John hynes is a fucking idiot and why do we have a captain that doesn’t ever speak out and act like a captain
We need younger players
The Lightning are terrible so far but who is traceable there?
Didn't seth and Alex both say Torts hates rookies worse than Hynes?
It is amazing that elite players screw up hockey basics like they're clueless. Too used to shortcuts that are acceptable for them…
I feel bad for our D! They are trying to do everything with nothing!
So what happens if we only get 1 win on this homestand?
Love the hynes word salad segment lol 😅
Does JH being part of the Olympic coaching staff provide any level of security to his HC position?
I agree with Seth time to make a addition by subtraction
It's tiring when the younger players make bad mistakes they are taken to task by he coach and media. When veterans like Kirill keep making poor plays that result in penalties and opposition scoring chances and even goals not much is said. The vets need to mentor the younger players and set a good example.
Todd Nelson, the assistant head coach
For Pittsburgh was one Coach I really wanted the wild to hire,
They need to stop hiding bad players with this terrible system. Keep improving while our guys are young. The wild have had a half rebuilt team their entire existence.
I bet BG committed to Cronin, if needed, taking over for Hynes to get him to come to Iowa. Also, BG, in other media outlets I've watched, said he had ZERO plans on firing Hynes. Sounds like any changes will first come with player additions and subtractions.
Let the kids play and remove BG and JH. Get rid of older players 90 91 24. And hope this is 36 46 and 25 final year and retool this roster. It's a broken record the last 4 years. To old to slow.
When are we going to start criticizing our 17 million dollar man? He looks completely out of it until the team gets way behind. His turnovers are that of rookies. He's trying to make cutesy passes instead of shooting or skating to the net and his defense has even gone backwards.
I know Jiricek is a rook, but DAMN, he gives up TONS of pucks coming out of the D zone causing easy goals the other way. And this is every game he plays! Plus, at being a BIG defenseman, he is very passive and weak! He literally only has like 1 HIT in how many games? No wonder why Columbus bailed on him!
I think we need to trade Brodin to stert with. He just doesn't move ANYBODY away from the front of the net and the other teams get easy front net goals. And some needing his level of skating for D can bring in some type of SHOOTER! And Foligno needs to go once healthy…he's been the worst player this year!
I hope BGs answer for a "change up" isnt bringing in another aging guy like Panarin! The Wild really need to start doing whatever they can to start hitting on 25 to 28 yr olds! Hit on some up and comers and take those chances! This overpaying for has beens and never weres has killed thus teams chances!
Problems: scoring, turnovers, passing, starting on time, D zone, just to name a few. Right now I don’t think the Wild want to rely on scoring their way out of problems. Keeping games close with solid D zone play and maybe the counter attack can provide some much needed offensive pressure. Might help if the vets and offensively talented players on this team decided to play more consistently to their potential.
And basically, the Wild are old, slow, weak, lackadaisical, complacent, and ten other adjectives you can throw out. We need toughness, strength, size, competitiveness, urgency, awareness (i swear I'll lose my shit if I see another pass go off a Defenseman's skate and into the net), NET PRESENCE IN BOTH ENDS, we need SHOOTER'S NOT 6 CUTESY PASSES UNTIL THE PUCK GETS DEFLECTED AWAY! OMG…I'M HAVING A STROKE……😂😂😂😂 I'm ok now
BG is just going to hire another coach that has the same philosophy. GET rid of BG and the old school culture.
Why are u always complaining about Tarasenko he is not part of the problem he won 2 cups take a look at all the other wild player even Kaprizov last game 4 GV and 2 of them led in to 2goals against and playing over 27minutes whats up if that makes no sense just saying and Tarasenko will bouncd back
OT loss to the sharks is a low point , 23 12 97 needs to be top line
Hey Seth, you gotta do a post game live-stream if they lose tonight. 🤣 You know it would be hilarious!!
Move Yurov UP, give Ohggy more games UP in the lineup. Move 90 and 24 NOW. Get Jiricek to IA….UNTIL the mistakes stop. STOP punishing Buim for his mistakes.
Hynes line choices and minute management are DIRECTLY from his NEED to win which is coming from Guerin (from Leopold).
Wonder if krill's big contract is playing into the rest of the teams mentality, it used to be everyone was scrappy and gritty and trying, now they lackluster, sloppy, and lazy. 17 players expecting krill to win every game for them and krill saying I don't want to do much I'm rich.
His seat is definitely heating up.
Geurin is the one that needs to go. Start fresh w/ out jack ass attitude . Guerin’s Mentality old and not international enough. Canada (except for Gretzky) can’t stand Geurin and his lack of hometown talent, when Minnesota puts out more talent than any other state.
Bill Guerin and John Hynes seats should be so 🔥 they can't sit down. Their both frauds for what they've done to this franchise and a owner that allows it.
We aren’t making a cup run . I want yo be proven wrong .
So funny are you Seth , you crack me up
How about the GM's job also? He gets fleeced by 97 and little talent beyond the 1st line. We go from being crushed by the salary cap…to getting crushed by the salary cap. Hopefully 97 can score 5 goals a game. All the young talent who make a mistake get sent to Iowa while we keep old washed up players.
Mn sports media is historically soft on Mn teams. Gotta move some of the older guys w bad contracts.
