Minnesota Vikings News Dump (9.24.2025) | Addison Officially Back, Carson’s Job to Lose? Ireland!

[Music] What’s going on, Jerome? Beautiful Wednesday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, uh oh, we should be getting word sometime this morning that Isaiah Rogers has been named NFC defensive player of the week, which I don’t know. I I feel like how’s the NFL going to screw the Vikings and Rogers out of this? I don’t know. But, uh miked up for the game, Kevin McConnell. Talk about dude, this guy’s unbelievable. That’s going to be me. All right. So Nicasan and I are going to uh Brazilian steakhouse on Friday night and um this is going to be the the the waiters at uh Bulvinos. They’re just be like, “Oh, dude, this guy’s I don’t know what Brazilians sound like. Uh this guy this guy’s unbelievable. This guy’s the green card on for three hours. It’s the lamb. They treat their lamb really well.” And I understand why people don’t like lamb because there is a little gy flavor to it if you don’t prepare it right. You have to soak it and marinate it in yogurt. As weird as that sounds, that’s the key. Absolutely. Plus, it tenderizes it, too. Let’s go, man. Anyways, uh but also this is cool, too. So, uh good job, WZ. Great job. Good job, buddy. Good job, fellow. So, after the first Vikings touchdown, WZ comes over. Little little high five, a little side high five with Kevin McConnell. You know who’s the most fired up? JJ McCarthy. Love it. Like everyone in this photo, uh the guy who sort of looks like Chris Hawk. Uh, some of the practice squad guys. Ryan Kelly’s in the background, too. JJ McCarthy’s fired up. You know why? He would have every right to be jealous and envious and rooting against Carson Wentz, but he’s not that guy. Not that. You’re not that guy, pal. He’s a team first player, and that’s something that’s beautiful, man. Absolutely love it. Also, Christian Darasaw back. Uh, hey, that’s all I needed was you back in the game. Yes. Yes. Also, hey, guess what happens when you put that guy circled back at quarterback with this guy large 71 at left tackle as opposed to Justin freaking school. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. Also, okay. Hey, Jordan Addison’s officially back. It’s good to see. Uh, Vikings, the Vikings have signed running back Cory Ker to the practice squad and wide receiver Jordan Addison is now a 53man rooster. Wide receiver Tim Jones been released. Probably bring him back on the practice squad. Lucky Jackson’s Valet released from the practice squad, hence opening those two practice squad spots for Ker and probably today Tim Jones. It’ll be good. Now Ker Kinder is sort of interesting. So I think that he went undrafted because this was a super deep running back class, but he was extremely productive, especially at Cincinnati. You know, local Cincinnati kid. Uh originally was at LSU uh the year after Justin Jefferson. So he was teammates with Newton Mcloth when he was at LSU uh before he went to Arkansas. his teammates with Ed Ingram and whatnot. And Cincy, his final year ran for 1153 yards, 16 total rushing touchdowns. Doesn’t bring a ton in the receiving game, but he he’s not overly fast, doesn’t have that track speed, but he does pack a punch. You know, he’s 5’9, 213, and a lot of comps to him are Jordan Mason when Jordan Mason was coming out of Georgia Tech. So, could be something interesting there uh w with Ker or maybe not, who knows? But with Addison. So Addison’s returning and after the season Addison is eligible for a contract extension and you look at the wide receiver 2K you look at Devonte Smith except the Eagles and how we’re smart because they paid him early. You look at T. Higgins you look at Jameson Williams and it’s not out of the realm possibility that Addison’s going to get almost 30 million a year and that’s a lot for a wide receiver too but that’s the market. and Addison. That’s why I think Addison’s gonna have a monster season this year, even off of uh suspension is that he’s hungry. Let’s get paid. That’s right. Purple persuasion. Vikings are planning on paying wide receiver Jordan. So Darren Doogie Wolson uh talking on score north. Uh talk about Asen. He is a number one receiver, but here number two, wait until you see the contract extension. Addison will sign. The Vikings have in their minds this idea that they’re going to pay Addison. Now, obviously nothing can be uh officially announced during the season as he’s not eligible for an extension until he has three full seasons under his belt, but it’ll be interesting this off season because the Vikings do have this three-year window where they can pay everybody around JJ McCarthy before he gets paid. And Addison would be a very important part. And it’s a spot too where we talked about TJ Hawinson is basically in a contract year after the season. His contract is guaranteed money and he could be cut. He could be traded and I I think it it may come down to Hawinson or Addison, right? Especially since they paid Josh Oliver as well. I I think it’s going to be Addison. So, we’ll see. Uh quarterback wise, uh Kevin McConnell on Tuesday, not not a day of rest according to Kurt Cousins. Uh he was on the Mac show said this. I’ve always been a fan of Carson Wentz going back to when he was playing for the Eagles. Really? Really? Kevin just big fan of the Eagles, huh? Yeah, of course he was on Washington then, so he saw what good Carson once looked like. Uh, he has a lot of experience and he can help our whole team. He can do a lot of things at a really high level at the quarterback position. Kevin McConnell talking on the Pat McAfee show. And I mean, he’s not wrong. Plus, it’s going to be a good problem to have. Honestly, if Wentz comes out and just completely shreds this upcoming schedule, Steelers at at the Browns and the Browns, that’s a tough that’s tough game. That’s tough defense. Oh yeah, I forgot Browns revenge game cuz Pton used to be the Browns head coach as well as that was for Kevin McConnell’s first NFL coaching job. He was quarterback’s coach for uh Pton for a season as well as the OC then John D. Philippo. Time is a flat circle. you know his quarterbacks Josh Bount and Johnny Manzel and Brian Hoyer I think was in there too doesn’t matter but again it can be a very good problem to have if Carson Wes comes out looks really good against Steelers and especially if he looks really good against the Browns and their tough ass defense so then it’s a decision through the bye-week Jay McCarthy ankle’s going to be fully healthy his mobility is good to go and I I always go back and forth like I obviously you know people can be entrenched in one side or the other and on one hand, if once has a hot hand, he has a hot hand. Uh the other hand, JJ McCarthy, he’s the future. And also, you went into the season building this team around him. Like this entire off seasonason, you you built the team around JJ McCarthy. And frankly, eight quarters where he didn’t have Darasaw or Addison, I don’t think that’s you can really get an honest assessment of his caliber of play because no one would have looked good with Justice Goul as his left tackle. Just it is what it is. So, uh, with Wentz too, like Wentz was perfectly efficient and fine, uh, on Sunday, but I I don’t think there’s anything that he did that McCarthy couldn’t do, right? And that that’s not to denigrate his performance because he come he could have come out there and been sacked nine times instead of three and throw four picks, but he didn’t, right? So, I don’t know. Obviously, we’re going to get a look since W is starting at least this Sunday. I’d say probably the Sunday after that as well, uh, in London against the Browns. So, we’ll see. Also, so everything was set up aces because you know the Steelers and the Rooney obviously uh major ties to Ireland. I I think that the the late great uh Rooney was uh ambassador to Ireland. It’s awesome. Uh then of course with the Vikings have very strong Ital uh Italian very strong Irish American ties because Kevin O’Connell, JJ McCarthy, Ryan Kelly, which is probably one of the most Ryan Kelly might be my one of the most Irish names out there. Yeah. Byron Murphy as well as Brian O’Neal. All right. So a lot of Irish there’s a lot of Irish ties here. I don’t know why the Vikings aren’t the official team of Ireland either, but it’s okay. But with Wentz, I mean, he’s redheaded. So, I feel like that’s something. Also, Wentz is definitely not a German last name. It’s definitely Irish. Close enough, right? Fine. I’m just trying to find ways to market this thing. We’re trying to grow the game in Ireland. Bear, that’s right. Also, we’re going to whip somebody’s ass where I don’t know. It’s It’s Steelers week. It’s Aaron Rogers week, but it doesn’t feel like it. You know what I mean? Just feels like another game. And we’re going to come out. Your offensive line cannot protect you. You cannot run the ball consistently. You cannot get the ball to DK. And everything else about your team is very poop. All right. So, we’re going to whip Aaron Rogers’s ass. First team to do it in three separate countries. And also, all the Irish people are out there are going to think that Carson Wentz is the Michael Jordan of the NFL. It’s just like all those Brazilian kids are going to grow up thinking that Quinton Johnston is the great Quinton. They think that Quinton Johnson is Megatron basically. It’s going to be great. Yeah. Also great. Uh so Diamond Jackson, it’s for real. Uh had a wrist surgery. It’s going to be out till uh probably after the bye-week. Uh but Vikings fan page Vikings rookie guard Diamond Jackson allowed a 3.7% pressure rate in week three, which was fourth lowest among rookies in the NFL. All that while playing with a wrist injury. Right. So he played on Sun Sunday. Medical team deemed that it was an injury that he couldn’t hurt further. So at least they believe that he probably had a completely torn ligament in his wrist, but it’s something that the Vikings want to wanted to take care of, right? Because I’m I’m sure that Jackson would have been fine playing through it throughout the entire year. But use the by-week, use the international trip, get right, get healthy. Blake Brandle will be solid, especially with Darasaw in there at left tackle. uh just like he was last year at left guard and then go from there. But again, just speaks that the Vikings got a good one. Very much Randall McDaniel vibes just emanating from Ray Donovan Jackson. That’s right, man. Also, oh hey, uh rap sheet sources the Texans are releasing safety CJ Gardner Johnson, Chanty Gardner Johnson, whatever you want to call him this week. A surprise. Now the scuttlebutt is well there’s a lot of problems with the Texans and also Gardenner Johnson was champing at the beds like hey we should blitz more and of course you don’t have to threaten me with a good time if you want another safety who can blitz plus uh the Texans are on the hook for his salary this season which is guaranteed. So I you could actually sign him for the league minimum in terms of offsets. So, I don’t know. Maybe, maybe. But would he be okay taking a a backup role in the secondary? Because you got Harrison back, Theo Jackson’s balling out. Josh Mattel, obvious obviously Josh Matelis. I don’t know. But if he wants a shot at uh another ring, I mean, this could be the place. Houston definitely was not the place. Yeah. Also, speaking of getting a ring, Javon Hargrave, let’s go, man. Getting pressures all over the place. Uh 2025 interior defensive line pass rush win rate data via PFF through three weeks. Malik Collins of the Browns who we’ll see in a couple weeks 23.6%. Would have been nice to have uh well Malik Collins and Mason Graham. I mean together that’s rough man. Namde Madabuk dressabuk 20.3%. Osa diggizua up there as well. Sexy Dexi Lawrence future Viking that’s right. Jeffrey Simmons from Tennessee as well as Javon Hargrave. Oh that guy. No problem. and Byron Murphy II, who is not Byron Murphy Jr., we look that up. Uh, but Javon Harrave, 17% uh pass rush win rate when really if if you’re into your defensive lineman, you can get like 9 or 10% that’s pretty good in terms of your pass rush win rate. So, Hargrave, Allen, LDR, Jed, let’s go, man. Anyways, that’s it. Vikings back at practice day. We’ll have the first injury report of the week as well. Vikings are also going to practice on Thursday before taking off, traveling to the Emerald Isle on Thursday evening, landing Friday morning, getting a practice workout uh walkthrough in then and we’re off to the races again. Yeah. Again, early uh 8:30 a.m. kickoff on Sunday. So, make sure your coffee is hot. Maybe a little little Shaw Jameson there. Don’t know. Don’t know. Don’t know. Anyways, that’s it. Vikings news up for this beautiful glorious day. You guys are the best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

  1. Kid needs reps to know if he is the guy but let's be real, we are built for now so if Wentz is playing good and we got a shot at a ring….. I say JJ sits another year. Still got 3 years on his rookie deal

  2. The ideal would have been to start JJ behind someone like wentz and let him play the last quarter of a game throughout the year if we are ahead. So this yearJJ was moved to QB one, but seems to be somewhat overwhelmed at how fast and furious an NFL game is. It wouldn’t’ be bad to move Wentz to QB 1 and have JJ as the backup.

  3. Andy.. is it Wise to bring JJM in against the Eagles even though it's a home game? Peeps be barking to bench JJ for another year?? I call BS..Let The 1st rounder.. "LOOSE"😂🎉 "SKOL-CRAZY"!

  4. I believe JJ's our future but as of right now he needs to learn how to get the ball out faster you got to roll with the hot hand The Experience right now if we want to be a playoff team JJ needs to sit back and learn a little bit more before he takes us to the promised land

  5. These win now fans and sports casters really kill me. JJ needs his reps, and with CD and Addison, arguably the receiver he has the most chemistry with, back in the mix, I don’t see why you would bench him just cus Wentz had an alright game. Who wouldn’t have a decent game with the weapons we have? People need to get a grip

  6. Honestly after watching the first two games if you play McCarthy I really do think you’ll have a average season at best, if you start wentz the ceiling will be higher and will probably win a play off game, the question base is if you start McCarthy and we have a aging roster do you think he’ll get it together in the next two to three seasons why’ll we still have our talent

  7. It should be a fluid situation at QB. If Wentz is lighting up the stat sheet keep him in. If he's not doing absolutely great take him out. I get the JJ needs snaps narrative but he's young and will most definitely get his shot. They didn't draft him to only get two games of experience with starters out all around him. People are acting like the kids career will be over if he doesn't get in games immediately. Chill.

  8. I think JA gets traded to another team when his contract is up. This is the second season that he’s been suspended and has requested to be traded in the past. The Vikings could trade him and easily get a 1st and a 2nd round draft pick.

  9. Wentz was much quicker making decisions. Not surprising hes processing much quicker than JJ. I personally lean on Wentz being the starter unless he implodes which I dont think is going to happen.

  10. Para o Brasil Brasilian is from Portuguese apreciar the experience thats not mels dinner.. Yes Fusion the Lebenese and Greek Dinos or jacobs ladder had mit lemon lamb very nice
