[Rogers] Tor clubhouse was filled with raw emotion. Guys were in tears, including Max Scherzer who spoke about the Jays in between wiping his eyes: “I’m 41 years old and I never thought I could love baseball this much. My love for the game was so strong because their love for the game.”

  1. I don’t want anyone sulking today. We lost as a team. We lost as a city. But you know what else we did this year? WE WON. We bloody won. A lot of goddamn games. And we will be back. If you’re a fan of this team, I’m putting my arm around you right now and telling you it’s gonna be alright. This was a wild ride and you have zero reason to not be proud as fuck of your baseball team today. No matter what. It’s always going to be LETS GO BLUE JAYS.

  2. Mad Max has seen some shit good and bad. He will be an amazing coach when he retires. Thank you for the season Mad Max and being a great mentor to so many of the guys.

  3. We took a SUPERTEAM to GAME 7 of the WORLD SERIES. There was going to be a loser , it didn’t go our way , emotions are allowed to flow today, but that team just needs to get ready for the world series next year. Let’s get on with it.

  4. Max into a leadership / coaching role please.

    This guy knows what’s up.

Seeing how he’s taking Trey under his wing? Yes. More of that.

  5. Man… That means so much knowing Max’s experience in the game and the teams he’s been on.

Hopefully that spirit and culture in the locker room is something that can be cultivated and further built on going forward.

  6. God, I don’t want them feeling bad. This year was absolutely incredible, and they gave that to us.

    I love these guys.

  7. My only hope is that the jays make it back to the world series next year and win it all.

We had a good team. And we got super close to winning it all.

  8. adversities will make players only make stronger. not sure if 26 will be this successful at least they know the template to be at championship level. Max certainly proved that he still has more in the tank

  9. Ernie and Addison, Vladdy and some others are what did this. This team has chemistry. They just go a little unlucky.

  10. We have our superstar locked down for 14 years. Hopefully we will have his partner in crime locked down for just as long. We have control over a strong group of these players for a number of years. I’d imagine we would be an attractive option for free agents looking for a chance at a future World Series after the showing we put up against the NL All Stars.

  11. Dodgers could barely buy the second straight chip against a bunch of friends. Salary cap now or lockout

  12. I still don’t know what he saw in the Jays to sign in the offseason. But I’m sure happy he got to start game 7

  13. I was consoling a Jays fan friend of mine last night. I am a Nationals fan, so Max is an all time favorite. He was THE GUY during his time in DC and there are plenty of stories of Max’s almost psychotic desire to win. I knew that Max would empty his holster. He is not just a player, but an attitude coach.

I am a 40 years Capitals fan. Those here that follow hockey know. It’s been many soul crushing meltdowns-except for one season.

I am not in the mind of any of you right now. I don’t know exactly what you feel because each of you are unique. But I understand some sort of pain. That’s it

  14. Everything that was a worry in the regular season is why we lost. Our pitching staff being vulnerable to the home run? Check. Varsho being streaky at the plate? Check. Jeff Hoffman being inconsistent as a closer? Check. Our lack of stolen bases and poor base running? Check. Kirk being an automatic double play if the ball is on the ground? Check.

It happens sometimes. Your strengths can’t overcome your weaknesses.

And Vladdy cooled off a bit in this series compared to the prior two.

But we got this far because of who contributed during the regular season too.

And you have to hand it to the Dodgers manger. Being able to NOT use your suspect bullpen in a critical game 7 and use all four of your ace starters was smart.

  15. Exactly. This was one hell of a World Series. We went against some of the very best and held our own. Be proud of that.

  16. I don’t want anything to do with baseball right now. As a diehard sports fan, and baseball fan, I am numb today, just numb and nothing else to say. I was all in Blue Jays and just an amazing series, great fanbase and city.
I even was wearing a Toronto Vlad t shirt I found recently just for the occasion.
Its so disappointing, I can imagine more so for the true fans and city of Toronto. Hope they can return and get redemption.

  17. As a Dodgers fan, so incredibly impressed with the Blue Jays organization. This G7, heck this entire series, was mesmerizing and amongst the most gripping baseball I’ve ever seen played. Two very different teams went toe to toe in games decided by inches with insane moments after insane moments. The Blue Jays hitting is on another level. The team spirit and camaraderie. We knew after the ALCS we would rather play the Mariners, and for good reason. Blue Jays are an incredible team. A force to be reckoned with next season and more to come. That could have gone either way at any point and as a baseball fan, you couldn’t ask for more from a series. Pure cinema. Hats off to Toronto. Much respect.

  18. I love me some Mad Max. If he retires, I hope we can retain his services as a coach

Thank you for everything. I’ll never forget his ALCS Game 4 start.. what a time.

  19. Ita just a game and truly not as significant as the bonding and coming together as a unit. Likely will not see the same faces come next year but they will share this memory and they played their asses off and as a fan thats all we desire. Keep your heads up. You actually had the edge this series and were considered dogs by vegas and you got respect now

  20. I’m a couple years older than Scherzer. I feel dejected this morning. I can’t imagine how he and the rest of the team feel.

I love watching playoff baseball and this year was special because of the Jays doing so well. I hope to see most of these guys back next year for another run.

  21. They should be very proud no one gave them a chance at start of the year or in the series.

  22. Giants fan here in peace and solidarity. I’ve never had an AL team that I liked before, but the Jays have my heart now.

  23. Guys it really was the power of friendship…

Why wouldn’t that be rewarded by the baseball gods?
