Yoshinobu Yamamoto, World Series legend

  1. If Yamamoto had to come in for the 19th inning of game 3, he could now have 4 wins in a single World Series.

  2. has there ever been a pitcher that got the first and last out of an MLB season? he’s gotta be the first right?

edit: im dumb. yoshi didn’t get the first out, Imanaga did, dodgers hit first in japan. I mixed up the order in my head.

Yoshi *did* get the first and last win though, so that’s somethin!

  3. I never want to hear Yamamoto slander ever again even if he shits the bed next season

  4. This might be the greatest pitching performance in WS history, especially considering the opponent’s daunting lineup

  5. He pitched in 3 of the 4 wins the dodgers had, and in the one game he did not pitch, he was warming up to pitch next!

  6. The jays had some great pitching, the other Dodgers starters had some great pitching. But Yamamoto did something that I still can’t believe I got to watch.

    Incredible job.

  7. Per OptaSTATS:

Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers is the first pitcher ever to win 3 games on the road in a single World Series.

He’s also the first to win Games 6 & 7 of a World Series on the road.

    Per OptaSTATS (After Game 6):

In each of his last 3 starts, the Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto has:

allowed no more than 5 hits
allowed no more than 1 run
allowed no more than 1 walk
    struck out 5+ batters
    earned the win

No one else in MLB history has done that in 3 consecutive postseason starts.

  8. As a Blue Jays fan, gotta give all the respects to this guy. He broke my heart but this man said nothing, showed up, and dominated in three different games.

  9. Randy Johnson and Madison Bumgarner levels of legendary, absolutely deserves the MVP

  10. He won’t win the CY this year, but I think no other pitcher this year comes close to his xDAWG. Like he legit go so long, has so much gas, and pitches consecutively in an era where starters dont go long for good reason since both pitching and hitting are reaching the human limit. He not only does that (2CG) but also pitches two consecutive days in ultra high leverage. Oh fuck man, I love Yamamoto.

  11. He proves once again that when you’re on no rest, your velocity might be down, and your control is a tad off…there’s no substitute for knowing how to command and sequence pitches.

    Absolute masterpiece by Yamamoto.
