DETROIT RED WINGS TOP 5 PROSPECTS IN THE PIPELINE

[Music] Yo, what is up everyone? Welcome back to this brand new episode of Hockey Town Rundown. You’re here with me, your beautiful host once again, Zack. I am Carlo Les today. He is out sick. I hope you get well soon, buddy. I miss you. What do we got in store today? Well, I figured today would be a good time to talk about the top five Detroit Red Wings prospects in their current pipeline. Just based on total points, I felt like it was a good time to highlight some of them and what they are doing in their current seasons with their current teams right now. On top of that, I will be touching on the most recent games that the Detroit Red Wings played. They have been out west with some good and some bad as well. And before I jump into that, I want to stop and say thanks for joining me on this brand new episode. Once again, if you are returning, if you are brand new, thank you so much for stopping by. You can find us on all the major social media platforms like Twitter, X, Instagram, all those places. With that being said, go ahead and give us a follow and let’s get this episode underway. And to start off, let’s talk about the recap of the games. The Detroit Red Wings did beat the Los Angeles Kings in LA 4 to3 in a shootout. It was really weird cuz the Red Wings were going to leave with just one point. And then the league said, “Hold up, pump the brakes. Let’s review that goal that Kevin Fela scored while they were on the power play. Four on three with only what, 38 seconds left in the OT.” The goal was called back because there was goalender interference. There were some folk online in the Twitter atmosphere, maybe in just NHL atmosphere in general that would say they don’t understand why that was not a good goal. There clearly was contact with Cam Talbot in that against this former team, the LA Kings as well. And credit for Cam Talbot for playing such a phenomenal game. I would have pegged him as the number one star, but granted I am not the one who makes those choices. Without Cam Talbet, the Red Wings probably would have lost that game to be quite honest. But the Red Wings gave away with two points by finishing out in the shootout. Very lucky. Very, very lucky. But with the luck that they had in this game, they were very unfortunate in the next game. The refs took what they saw in the game against the LA Kings and said, “You know what? We’re just going to we’re going to help out the Ducks this game.” Because there definitely were some questionable calls when they went over and played the Anaheim Ducks the next day, losing 5 to2. Not the greatest loss, but there seems to be a common theme here with the Detroit Red Wings and some of their losses minus against the New York Islanders, but you can insert Matt Schaefer in there, the former number one overall pick in the most recent NHL draft where looking at from Montreal and then looking at the Anaheim Ducks, what do those teams have in common? High octane young players. And so that kind of correlates to this episode where the Detroit Red Wings, while yes, they did have before Michael Brainsard was sent down, unfortunate for him, once Carlo comes back, maybe we’ll talk on that. The Detroit Red Wings definitely have a plethora of young players on their team. Is that where the NHL is going now? Do we want to call it the Fentamental League? I wouldn’t quite say that, but I definitely would say this is a young man’s league now. The NHL is getting very much younger and you can see it based on the speed that these players have, the skill that they have that once you hit 30, you’re old. You can’t hang with the young kids anymore. We’re seeing it with plenty of players on the Detroit Red Wings. And that’s all catered to the bottom six. I would say that the bottom six, not night in night out, I shouldn’t say it like that, but a good chunk of the time they are getting outbeaten by a lot of the younger talent that is on the other team or just the other team that just has really great talent in general. Granted, I get it. We have to wait for some of these kids, but that is why we are going to be touching on some of these kids that we are expecting to make hopefully at some point in time making the Detroit Red Wings opening night rosters. Maybe that’s in 2027, 2028. Who knows? Maybe some trades happen along the line. But let’s go ahead and just jump and talk about some of the prospects that may be overseas that we are waiting to see or some that might already be here. So, let’s just go ahead and jump into it. Now let’s start with Yi Kiskanin who in it one of his most recent games he had one goal he was a minus two with seven shots 1836 time on ice and a 5-2 loss. Yes Kiskanin currently is fifth within the prospect pool for the Detroit Red Wings in his 20 games played with his HBK team in the Liga has 13 points six goals seven assists. For those that don’t remember, Yesi Kiskinan was actually a piece that was given to the Detroit Red Wings with the Andrew Gibson trade as well along with a second round pick that was later on used. I think you guys can pick up what I’m putting down on that. You guys can go ahead and look back at that trade and see what happened, what happened with that second round pick. I don’t want to get into it, but nonetheless, here you can see Let’s Go Red Wings prospect. We’re going to be highlighting a lot of him because he is the one who puts out a lot of these videos of these prospects showcasing Yesi Kiskinan and his work out on the ice. This is a kid that I foresee can be a middle six guy at some point. I really love his ability to actually create opportunities not only for his team but for himself as well. This is a kid who shoots right. He will be a right winger. You look at the depth chart, you got Lucas Raymond, maybe MBN, then Yesi Kiskinan. But I think that will be the battle moving forward would be who’s going to be that top six right winger in the future between Yesi Kiskinan and someone like Michael Braniggard. And unfortunately, like I mentioned, Michael Brans Nigard did just get sent down. So MBN technically does have step up above Kiskin, but we should see him very soon. whether if that’s with the Grand Rapids Griffins at some point maybe later down the road this season or obviously going into next season where we could see him making his North America debut. So stay on the lookout for that. Yes, Kiskan, you are doing a fantastic job and continue doing the great work that you are doing over there. Now moving over to number two which is Eddie Genborg who in one of his most recent games actually just put up two goals. He was a plus two three shots on that with one hit. 15 minutes time on ice and a 5 to0 win. And Eddie Genborg, this kid, what an incredible season, like start of the season for him. Former second round pick in this most recent draft, 44th overall. If you go ahead and look at his projected stats, he is projected to put up 37 points and 52 games played this season. And that outpaces even the likes of someone like Lucas Raymond in his draft plus one year who only put up I think it was like 13 points in 30ome games or 17 points in 30ome games. I did we did put out a tweet about it in the stats of previous Detroit Red Wings players in their draft plus one years. And Eddie Gborg is just blowing everyone out of the water. I believe right now he’s actually in the top five of players under 23 in scoring and probably under 25 as well. I did check it at some point. Eddie Genborg, this kid, I’m just going to make the call out right now. I foresee this kid being a top six player for the Detroit Red Wings. I know it’s still really early and everything, but based on those stats and what we’ve seen, credit to the Detroit Red Wings scouting team, going out and seeing someone like Eddie Gamborg who fell in the draft that looking back at it, you could say definitely has first round talent that should have been drafted and the Red Wings were able to scoop them up for pretty good price coming in in the second round. Eddie Gamborg, physical two-way forward, strong for checking presence, knows how to finish the puck, uh, knows how to be around the net, hustles, he throws his body, just an overall dog. Let’s go Red Wings prospects. Does a really good job at highlighting him. And obviously, this is someone that the Detroit Red Wings fandom should be paying close attention to. Personally to me, I would be quite shocked if he doesn’t try to push over to North America next season. I’m not exactly sure what his contract uh situation is like. Maybe he does have to play in the SHL for one more season after this one, but Eddie Genborg instantly can make a huge impact with the Grand Rapids Griffins next season or even going and joining him later this season if for whatever reason his season ends early within the SHL. So stay on the lookout for someone like Eddie Genborg. This kid is absolutely on fire. This is probably the prospect that everyone should keep an eye on moving forward for the rest of this season. Now moving over to everyone’s favorite Russian prospect within the Detroit Red Wings pipeline is Dimmitri Bhombs Bellev who in one of his most recent games just actually put up an assist as you can see here thanks to the video from Let’s Go Red Wings prospects 60-minute time on ice. It was a 3 to2 loss but at the start of his season he actually was having a very very slow season and then eventually started to pick up. He had a really great game. He had a hat-tick to actually bring back some of his scoring touch and that’s all he really needed and that just so showcases and kind of follows suits to someone like Alex Debrink where he went I think it was eight games without scoring a goal and now he’s on a 4ame goal streak currently almost very similar to Dmitri Buchelnikov where in his 21 games played so far with CSKA Mosva in the KHL 21 games seven goals nine assists for 16 points he is currently on pace to be projected ed at 68 games played with 23 goals, 29 assists for 52 points. Comes slightly under his total high of last season and 65 games played of 54 points, but he would be currently outpacing his goal total high of 15. He’s on pace currently for 23. He has seven currently. Dmitri Buchelnikov. This is a top six forward for the Detroit Red Wings going into the future. This supposedly is supposed to be his last season within the KHL. I know a lot of Detroit Red Wings fans are very nervous if he even wants to sign with the Detroit Red Wings. Does he even want to come to North America? I don’t know who put it out there. Someone put it out there on Twitter not that long ago that they saw that they commented on one of his Instagram posts. Let’s go Red Wings. They liked his comments. Do with that as you will. Take that as you will. I really don’t know what to do with something like that. I firmly believe that if you are a hockey player and your ultimate goal is to play the best hockey you possibly can and playing in the best league you possibly can, that is the NHL. That is going to North America and that would mean you coming and playing for the Detroit Red Wings. Demetri Bchelikov, I honestly do not see him playing with the Grand Rapids Griffins. I think he instantly makes the jump to the Detroit Red Wings. Dimmitri Bhnikov to me, dare I say it, I think he would technically be the Patrick Kane replacement. Granted, we call him BCH Bombs. Yes, he’s got a really great shot, but his playmaking ability has extremely grown over the years. This kid is offensively gifted. His playmaking ability is off the charts. This kid is going to be a differencemaker for the Detroit Red Wings. And I think the league is going to be very surprised once he does make his NHL debut in the type of impact that he does bring for the team, especially with the team next season. It’s no secret that the cap’s going up. You’re going to have a lot of roster spots as well. You are going to have to insert plenty of rookies on there. You can go out in free agency. You can also make some trades. But as we’ve seen in free agency, all the good players have really been taken. No Jack Eel, no Conor McDavid, no Carel Capri off, uh, no Kyle Connor, really the only one that’s still available is Jason Robertson. And even then, really, I would not count on that. Uh, the Detroit Red Wings prospect pool is certainly in a good spot. The Detroit Red Wings as a whole are in a really good spot. And granted, as I just mentioned, with the cap going up, you do have to meet a certain floor at that point. However, with players like this and then inserting players like ASP, you still have to sign Simon Edmonson. I’m kind of going down a rabbit hole with this. But nonetheless, adding someone like Dmitri Buchelnikov onto the Detroit Red Wings, whether if that’s later on this season, if his season ends early or if it’s even to start next year, I firmly believe that someone like Dmitri Bellnikov BH Bombs will be making the Detroit Red Wings opening night roster to start the 2627 season. Now moving over to number two is Brent Solomon. Brent Solomon is actually quite a sleeper this year I think for most people. He is playing out of the USHL. He is playing for the Sou Falls Stampede currently with 18 points in 14 games played. He’s got nine goals, nine assists. And Brent Solomon, a former fourth round pick actually in this previous draft. He was 109th overall. He’s currently on pace for 62 games played with 40 goals, 40 assists for 80 points. Brent Solomon, you dog. I And then this highlight that Let’s Go Red Wings prospect shows off. He’s got a plus one, one assist, two shots on goal with a 5 to2 win. Brent Solomon is someone that I think a lot of Red Wings fans are going to be surprised about. Uh he’s someone who brings a downhill attack. He’s very precise. He’s got a lot of volume on his shooting. uh he elevates his boards, middle habits, and just overall just a consistent player. It seems like based on what we see on these highlights and these clips that people like Let’s Go Red Wings prospects are putting out there. Someone like Brent Solomon, what is the potential that he can bring? I saw someone bring up a Jason Marcho type, you know, if that’s what he could be fan freakingtastic. I absolutely would love that. I think the Detroit Red Wings would absolutely love to have something like that in their prospect system and on their team moving down the line as well in the future. He is a right-winger. He does shoot right. He’s six foot tall. He’s 172 lbs. Still definitely needs to put some weight on him. He’s only 18 years old though, so sky’s the limit for this kid, but if he continues at the pace that he is currently going at, we could see him in the Grand Rapids Griffin’s uniform sooner than later. But currently, right now, as we speak, he is tied for first in total points in the US. It’s actually a three-way tie. Oh my goodness. And if even Brent Solomon does reach that potential of getting the 80 points in this season, he wouldn’t even crack the 100, top 100 of all time per season within the USHL for scoring, which is absolutely crazy. And I know a lot of people don’t like to put a lot of stock into this league, but we’ve seen some pretty good players come out of the USHL that ended up having some pretty decent NHL careers in their time. So, another player that you want to keep an eye on. Uh maybe with a grain of salt, so to say. Once again, still just another 18-year-old mid round pick. Let’s just wait and see. But so far so good. I really love what I’m seeing out of someone like Brent Solomon. And then moving over to the number one guy that we have to highlight would be NCAA player, Detroit Red Wings prospect, second round 2024 pick Max Plenty playing with Minnesota Duth. And one of his most recent games, he put up two goals, two assists. He was a plus three, four to three win overtime. That was actually against Dylan James who also had a really great game. But Max Plants, what in the freaking world are you doing over there in Minnesota, man? This kid is just tearing it up currently. If it still stands, the last time I checked, he was tied for first in points in the NCAA this season with 18 points. Now he’s got 19 points in 10 games played. He’s actually now first in the NCAA, leading in points, 10 games played, nine goals, 10 assists for 19 points. What an absolute freaking dog this kid is. My goodness. And unfortunately, it’s not giving me his projected totals for this upcoming season. Uh but last season in his NCAA debut with Minnesota in 23 games, he put up 28 points, nine goals, 19 assists. So, he’s already tied for his goal high total in that regard. This kid sky’s the limit at this point. I really do believe that he has the potential to be a top six center on the second line and it’s very interesting to see considering that the Detroit Red Wings already have Dylin, they have Marco Casper, they have Nate Danielson. I truly believe Max Plant will be for the Detroit Red Wings a third line center. What do you do with someone like Nate Danielson that you’re just going to have to wait until that time comes? You can play him on the 4C eventually as time goes along. I really do believe that Max Plant has the potential to be a top six center within the NHL. Whether if that’s the Detroit Red Wings or not, this kid, he’s a former second round pick. Like I mentioned, he’s 5’11, 176 pounds, only 19 years old. He’s from Minnesota. Sky’s is the limit for this kid. He’s just got to put on a little bit more weight. Just an overall great playmaker. One of the most skilled passers by far within the NCAA and and even in his draft class. Even on the backhand, he’s just really good with the puck and even in the tiny openings, he’s able to find his teammates and feed them the puck. Really good defensively, too, as well. Uh definitely applies the pressure on the opponents, takes advantage, and and very assertive on the defensive end as well. Um and his shot too is there. It’s not just the only thing. Can he play defense? Can he pass the puck? Yeah, but he can also shoot the puck, too, as well, which is exactly what we need out of every prospect that we have. I think that’s something that the Detroit Red Wings, I wouldn’t say that they’re currently lacking, but the Detroit Red Wings need more players that are going to be willing to shoot the puck. But also, I know I said someone like Dmitri betray could be the ultimate Patrick Kane replacement. I don’t think I would see Max Plant making the Detroit Red Wings anytime soon, not even as soon as next season. He would more than likely start with the Grand Rapids Griffins. You know, you can play with Carter Bear. You can play with Eddie Genborg. A lot of great prospects over there. And like I mentioned, the Detroit Red Wings will already have Marco Casper. They’ll have Nate Danielson, and obviously Dylan Lurin. You can even throw in Amadeus Lombardi in there, but a lot of people seem to think that he would be better suited on the wing. I digress. Either way, someone like Max Plant, very, very excited to see. I do believe that he actually joins the Grand Rapids Griffins once his NCAA season ends. Maybe they make it all the way to the Frozen 4. We’re just going to have to wait and see. But this is the player that everyone should be keeping an eye on if they currently are not already. There have been some people saying don’t put too much stock in him. But you can’t ignore it. You cannot ignore the the impact that he is bringing on this team and the type of season that he is having at 19 years old in his second season with a Minnesota DUT team and you’re going up against really good teams like North Dakota and Dylan James. Bravo. Bravo, Maxplant. Bravo. And there you have it. Those are the top five Detroit Red Wings prospects and their pipeline currently based on total points of this season with their respected teams and clubs, whether if they’re overseas or even here in North America as we speak. Eventually, overtime, we will hopefully see them all in a Detroit Red Wings uniform. That does not mean training camp or prospect tournament or anything like that. Hopefully eventually we see him full-time Detroit Red Wings once they get to that point. It seems that that is the direction that the Detroit Red Wings are going. They want to insert more youth. We saw it with this most recent opening night roster they included and inserted three rookies and EMTT Finny who has been lights out. Finny Forch tearing it apart. Axel Sand Pelica still trying to figure it out on the defensive ends. I’m not too worried about him. He’s still one of the better defensive players on the team. Then you look at someone like Michael Branson Negard. Unfortunately, he did get sent down, but that made sense at the time. It’s not a bad decision. He needs to figure it out down there and get his scoring touch back, just gain that confidence back. I do believe that he will be back with the Detroit Red Wings at some point this season. But touching on all these kids, yeah, the Detroit Red Wings prospect pool is in such a good healthy position. And you look at it from the perspective of a lot of these people that were calling out Steve Eisman and the draft team, the scouting team that we’re fans are just impatient. We are seeing the benefit of the patience that we had up until this point when Steve Eisermanman came into the Detroit Red Wings club back in 2019 coming in as the general manager. And credit to Hawk and Anderson as well. A lot of people really don’t give him the flowers that he deserves going out and finding some of these players, especially over in Sweden and many of our other scouts as well. Without them, we would not have such a flourishing prospect pool as we currently do right now. I really do believe that the Detroit Red Wings are in a very good healthy spot. The record right now is 7 and three. You look at the Grand Rapids Griffins, they just won their seventh straight game. They are 7 and0. But yeah, once again, the Detroit Red Wings in a very good position. If you think that Steve Eisman and the Detroit Red Wings are being too lazy, they’re being too slow, just wait until next season when the cap’s going up, go look at the roster spots that are going to be open. We’re going to be moving on from a few number of there’s also more than likely going to be some trades. I do believe going back to what I said at the start of the season, looking back at the losses that we had against the Montreal Canadiens and the Anaheim Ducks, both very high octane young teams, cereable players that just come in and attack you. And unfortunately showcase them. Detroit Red Wings are not necessarily built to hang with that kind of speed and that high octane offense that teams like Montreal and the Anaheim Ducks bring. But eventually that seems to be what the Detroit Red Wings are aiming for. We see that with players like MFinny, ASP, MBN, who is no longer on the team, but that’s okay. You guys know what I’m saying there. Even including someone like Simon Edmonson, Albert Johansson, you have Lucas Raymond, you have Mo Cider. All those guys are under 26 years old still. Sky is the limit for this team. If you ever get nervous, just think about Detroit Red Wings 27, 28. Oh my goodness, we’re going to have so many young kids that are so talented that we will be what Montreal and the Anaheim Ducks currently are. And I think that’s a good stopping point for me here on this episode. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for joining me on this brand new episode.
