Giannis Antetokounmpo Postgame Media Availability | 11.01.25

think I’ve seen a free throw miss purposely like that before like where you’re starting like outside. Is that something you guys have like worked on and and like tried to like set up before? No, no, we haven’t never been in that situation before. Um just uh we know that he’s going to miss it. I think Jericho’s in the game and M was in the game. So you two options for the jump. It’s probably them and then me and I think me and Ryan. I’m not sure. We were coming from the outside. We were able to get um the ball. I get another shot, but I don’t want to come in on the last play what I thought it was. I don’t want to get fined. Um Doc had kind of obviously we’re media people, so we asked Doc about the refs and he had said, you know, there’s this call or that call, that call, but the refs had nothing to do with us losing. like we shot 60% 47% for three and we lost. Um we weren’t good enough defensively. What were you seeing on that end that Yeah, I think uh they had a level of uh desperation more than us. Um obviously I think they played Chicago on um Wednesday. Yeah, Wednesday. Uh came up short. So we knew they will prepare. They had a couple of days to prepare and come here and uh play. And before the game we talk about it that they going to play hard, they going to try to be in the game. They’re going to try to make shots and uh be aggressive and just mark up the game and make it tough for us. I think we started the game uh incredible, very locked in. Guys was making shot. The spacing was very, very good. Defensively, we’re physical. I think as the game went on, we just like kind of took our foot off the gas. Uh they were able to come back. Um in the half was tight game. Third quarter, they were up 12. I wasn’t playing, you know, at our level. Um yeah in the fourth quarter we made the push with playing playing zone. We were a little bit we were able to you know um mark the paint a little bit make it tough make them take a tough twos tough threes on the ball went the other way. We had some open shots that didn’t go in that usually go in AJ to I think GT one of them um after that but again they played they played more desperate than us. that definitely deserved the game. Um, they scored 135 points. We scored 133. At the end of the day, if you don’t play defense, you’re not going to win the game. It doesn’t matter how many points you score. Um, I I guess you know, you wanted this team to have a a tone or a spirit about it, right? Doesn’t matter who plays, we’re going to kind of fight every night. Um, is part of that, you know, fighting within uh or not letting other team take it to you? Meaning, you know, Cole gets two texts and gets ejected. Doc talked about Ryan and Shruder kind of started going back and forth and it kind of it’s like kind of got lost in that a little bit. We got today four. Yeah. Is that just is that part of maybe a learning part of the learning curve for this team? is that as you try to like you want to fight and be emotional to kind of get into it, but you can’t really go over that line to sort of give up points or maybe get caught into too much of a back and forth. Yeah, you know, obviously want to be competitive. Um sometimes, you know, trash talking is it’s part of competition, you know. Uh but at the end of the day, you got to keep your mind to the game. Uh four takes is too much. Not just for the four points that we received, but just for momentum swings. Um, and especially Cole being ejected, you know, it definitely hurts the team. Um, we as a team have to be smart and not just Cole, you know, we got to like pull him away from the ref. Uh, before when he has his first one, we got to talk to him to kind of, you know, calm down and don’t get your second one because we need you in the game. Um, it’s good. It’s good. He’s not he’s not playing, man. like, you know, we we we need you in the game. We we got you got to stay locked in. But it’s not just him. He’s just in the vets. We got to attack him. Me, Miles, and Bobby, we got to put him on the side and attack him because he’s learning also, you know, he’s learning. He’s the first time being in that role, being one of the guys that uh is head of the snake in the second unit. He’s the guy that go have the ball, make plays for himself, and make plays for the team. So, you just got to stay locked in in what we’re trying to do. I think we had the chance to come back to the game. Uh, and that kind of hurts like momentum wise it hurts. But again, we I’ve I’ve been in that position many times. I’ve got ejected many times. I’ve learned from it and I think for sure everybody, not just him going for them. Uh, with Ryan, um, he’s going to keep getting new coverages. He’s moving up the scouting report a little bit. Just what are you maybe seeing from him dealing with a little bit more attention from defenses? And that this is the fun part, you know. Obviously, uh he’s playing out of his mind. He’s playing really well. He’s getting downhill. He’s, you know, uh defending. If you see the six games, the guys that he had to defend, it’s it’s hard. It’s hard to defend at the same time and be a threat to offensively, keep on making plays, it takes a toll on you. You guys heard what was going on back there. I don’t know if it was, you know, I want to comment on you, but you guys heard it takes a toll on your body, right? So, um, obviously he’s going to get more attention from teams because people start realize how good he is and how much he can help this team, but he’s going to stay locked in and he’s going to do his job. You mentioned maybe taking your foot off the gas a little bit. It I don’t want to say it’s bad to score 47 points in the first quarter and get off to a huge lead, but can that maybe make you relax in a way that when you start the game so well that it Yeah, you think it’s going to be it’s human nature. Not everybody does it, but sometimes as a team, like if one, two, three guys do it, it’s human nature. Like once you see once you see 44 47 points on the on the board, you know, you’re thinking about like, okay, if we keep up with this pace, we’re going to score 200 points. You know what I’m saying? So, for sure, you obviously if you’ve played a lot of games, you’re going to know that you’re not going to have a lot of 45 47 point uh quarters, right? So, the next one might be 30 30 point quarter, the next one might be 28 point quarter. So at the end of the day, it’s not just offensively, defensively. I think our physicality was not there. It was not there. It was too many easy ones, too many like they they had three threes in the half. I think they scored three threes in the half, right? Exactly. Yeah. So like a lot of free throws, a lot of points in the paint. They you got to be more physical, you know. Um we got to be more physical for sure. uh when they have D Rozan at power forward, there’s like it’s almost like a four guard lineup um when he was out there. Just how hard was that for you guys to defend and do you feel like that was maybe part of the the lack of physicalities? Like you couldn’t keep your hands on them or they’re getting downhill or just what was that attack like for them offensively for you guys to deal with defensively? They have four guys that can make plays. You know, that’s that’s the key. It’s not how tall or short they are. They have four guys that can, you know, get to the spot, make plays from Dennis Troder, he can get in the paint whenever he wants. Um, Zack Lavine, he’s a threat from a three-point line. Actually, from all three levels. Same with the Rosen. Same with Westbrook that he can get in the paint, make plays for himself, make plays for his teammate. And then you have a a big that’s not just like screening and rolling. He can get the ball in the pocket and make plays for his teammates. So, it’s just like a bunch of playmakers, a bunch of guys that can make plays. So just everybody that was out there was threat but we we wasn’t we wasn’t as lucky as should we we should have been you know like um intensity got to be higher intensity got to be higher like if you keep on traded basketball with a team like that a team that can make plays is going is going to uh how you say bite you in the butt. Um you get the black guy today. Actually, I was um I was in Pikach, right? So, while I was checking out my uh grocery um there was this guy that was about to snatch a purse from a lady. So, I was like, “Hey, man, what are you doing? Stop.” So, I went and grabbed him and he kind of turned and elbowed me in the eye, but then I grabbed him, put him on the floor, took the purse, gave it to the lady, and then uh the lady was safe. Uh I paid for her for her groceries, too, because she was in shock and stuff. You know, the police came and took the guy. I don’t know took me to cast this. So after that I just went back home did some three minutes to get a nap. Is that a real story? Okay. Okay. It’s not okay. Um what did you think about Kyle Koozma the last couple of days? Obviously had that big game against the Knicks defending cat and then today scored 16 straight points in the fourth quarter. Incredible man. Incredible. Like you got to like talk about how professional Khali is, you know, from starting, coming off the bench, taking the defensive assignment, and he’s a guy that is capable of scoring the ball. That’s what people don’t understand. Like, he’s a guy that can have 16 straight, you know. He’s a guy can come off the bench and give you 20 25, you know, but at the at the end of the day, like he gives you six, eight, he’s so professional about he just cares about winning and playing the right way. and his competitive spirit so high like he he loves taking that challenge in guarding players and uh and at times like if he gets going he definitely helps the team. Thanks guys.

  1. Giannis if you're injured please sit out. There's no sense of playing injured when the goal is to be healthy in the playoffs. We already have one major piece out, we don't need another one because of a major injury.

  2. He should've sat out for this one. Ryan has been balling out so let the team carry the work too. Ga was not mentally and physically in this game. He didn't try to box out against Sabonis at all.

  3. I watched the fourth quarter. I'm gonna go back and probably watch some of the first half, but I saw enough of the game to know that the refs or was it just one ref? Who thought he was The Star of the game? That everybody wants to see him blow the whistle. And honestly, the guy should be suspended, but I know that won't happen. And still, we probably should have won the game.If we make our free throws and if gannis just takes his time, we're down by one with about twenty something seconds left. Why are you in a rush man?Set something up.Let's get ready for indiana

  4. The nba really don't deserve Giannis, only Milwaukuee does. After the bucks stint, he should go back to Greece. That'll finally get sham's dreams come true.

  5. Giannis needs to call out the refs and NBA outright and not worry about the fine. It’s getting out of hand. It’s becoming to obvious

  6. THERE NEEDS TO BE A CHANGE IN THE START LINEUP!! AJ AND TRENT JR. NEEDS TO COME OFF THE BENCH!! DOC NEEDS TO GO DEEPER IN THE BENCH. I SAW TWO REBOUNDS THAT THE BUCKS DIDN'T GET THAT GOT TURNED INTO POINTS FOR THE OTHER TEAM!! TIRED OF AJ GETTING PICKED OUT AND ABUSED ON DEFENSE. THIS WAS A BAD LOSS!! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WERE UP 15!!

  7. That game was rigged.. Look closely.. What did Cole do to be ejected? Why was the refs whistle happy for the kings and not for the bucks. Someone puts huge money on the kings and the refs supported 😂

  8. That was a frustrating game to watch. Bucks started great but it was like they thought they’d get the game easily. Kings started hustling and if it wasn’t for Kuzma’s extraordinary performance in the fourth quarter, I think we would have lost easier. I don’t think we lost because of the refs. Somehow the team looked slower today with Giannis in compared to the previous game especially in second half. Giannis had a bad game for his standards. I think Kings got in their head. At some point they were taking also all offensive rebounds from Giannis. Maybe there was no need to stress Giannis if he still needed some time out. AJ lost also many critical threes in the end to help the Bucks them comeback. I hope they learn from this loss.

  9. Had their opportunities, 133 points is more than enough to pull out for the win… The interior defense and on-ball defense was horrendous.
