🔴LIVE 🔴San Francisco 49ers VS New York Giants/ NFL Week 9 /Madden NFL 26
We welcome everybody to the Garden State. EA Sports coverage of the NFL finds us at Metife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Today, boy, what a matchup. Two NFL franchises with so much history, so much tradition getting set to do battle here as it’ll be the San Francisco 49ers taking on the New York Giants. [Applause] Graham Gano, the long time Panther Graham Gano has set for a start as we are underway from Metife Stadium. Oh, a good looking return setup here. And all in all, a pretty solid return. Nearly got it to the 35. They’ll mark him down officially at the 34. So, here’s the first drive now for the 49ers. And leading them out, their signal caller now in his fourth season in the NFL. A tough time a season ago. His team missed the playoffs for the first time in his career, but he does remain one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league. He’s completed over 67% of his passes for his career. We know he’s efficient now. He wants to be spectacular and get his team back to the big game. Gets around him and he’s got to be out of bounds, but not before he takes it inside the 40. That one 28 yds on the ground. And that’s definitely the way you get things started. That’s the way it was drawn up in the locker room in pregame and everything. and they got it done right away. Running the ball for a big game. So the drive takes him into Giants territory now. First and 10 at the 38. A throw left side for Pieraw is complete. He’ll be hit down at the 33. Five yds on the play. Ricky Paw. It’s a pickup of six. Brings up second and four at the Giants 33 yd line. from the 33. Here’s second and four back to throw party. He’ll get this underneath to McAffrey and he’s able to get it down to the 25 yd line. That one a first down pick up of eight. That early game script that they drew up is working pretty well here on this first drive already in field goal range. Charles knocking on the door of the red zone. You know, Brandon, when we met with the coaching staff, they kind of predicted that they would come out firing like this. I think you and I were a little skeptical it’d be this easy. And he’s going to take it in. Touchdown San Francisco. 24 yds for Christian McCaffrey. And the 49ers get the upper hand as they’re on the board first here this afternoon. A nice run by him, don’t get me wrong, but the blocking up front was a thing of beauty. I think for an opening drive, how about that for an exclamation point? Just what you said, good blocking, good vision, and he accelerated to the end zone. Eddie Pinro now for the extra point [Applause] and the 49ers grab a seven to nothing lead. So that drive four plays and the last play on the drive, the touchdown run from Christian McCaffrey. [Applause] Now after the touchdown, here’s Pinero to kick it off. And out a little across the 25 to the 27. The Giants take over. So, here are the Giants ready to start their initial drive of the game. Leading him out is their rookie quarterback, the young man out of Old Miss. And what a great journey for this young man from USC to Old Miss, which totally fit his game. Nice arm, excellent runner, and he got better each and every year for the Rebels. The Giants obviously believed in him. They traded back into the first round to pick him up. They know they have their quarterback for the future. They’ll start with a run by Tracy. They’ll get a yard, that’s all. As they get him down at the 28 and the big fella stuffed that one up in a big way. I think doubling him has to be a priority because you can’t move up to the next level if you don’t take care of him first. Ball on the 28 yd line. Here’s a second down and nine. On play action, here’s Dart. Now the ners get there and bring him down. They’ll wind up losing 10 on the sack and it’ll lead to a third and long. The lessons will continue, but this rookie, he’s got to learn how to read situations just a little bit better. That far behind the line, he’s got to find a way to get rid of the football and not take the sack, whether it’s with his legs or just throwing it away. We’ll see where they go for this play call. Obviously tough in this spot. Backed up now on third and long. They’ll look to throw and unable to connect. incomplete. Now, give them credit. They took their shot, but it’s going to bring up fourth down. A That’s some good closing speed there defensively because that looked open for a minute, but that’s great work with the ball in the air. Never gave up, converged on his man, and broke the play up. And here’s Gillan on now to punt as he gets this one away. And now a fair catch called for and taken just outside the 40 yd line. 37 yds on the punt with no return. And the Niners will go on offense. First and 10. They’ve got good starting field position as they come up here first and 10 at their own 43. [Applause] The drive begins with a run by McCaffrey. And a lane slow and materializing there as he’ll get maybe a yard up to the 45. Oh, that’s a real nice job there by the defensive front. They just engaged and held their ground. But how about the guy who made the play? We often talk about whether they take a good first step or not. Many times you just don’t take any step. Just get your feet moving, get your body going, and then once he made the read, he was able to make the play. That’s into the hands of Pier Song on the right side. Give him a gain of five on the completion. And now it’s third and three. He decided to run a hitch rat. It really helped to have a guy who can turn it loose. And boy, he rifled one in there on that one. Not much run after catch, but it worked really well. Here’s third and three. I got it. I got it. from the midfield stripe. They’ll look to throw. And this pass broken up. The contact well timed there. And now fourth down. From a defensive perspective, they had exactly what you want anytime they want to throw the football. There was pressure on the quarterback. They were getting after him and they tightened down on the receivers and forced the incompletion. Thomas on fourth down. The Niners send out the veteran Thomas Morstead to punt. Back deep is Gunnar Oeski. And that will skip out of bounds. Right at about the 18 yd line. So the Giants getting the football back here for their second drive and they’ll certainly be trying to do better than that first drive where they went three and out. And sometimes the first drive is just simply to settle nerves. You know what it’s like at the start of a game with the emotion guys a little bit jumpy. You do. Oh, you you understand the same way. It’s just like us calling one, right? Making sure we ease into the game. Let it come to us. Well, you went three and out. Have that opportunity. No, you didn’t go three and out. I went three and out on that first drive. I’ll try to do better here. And not a whole lot to speak of there as they’ll bring him down shy of the 20. Just a yard on the first down carry. So, it’s second and nine. And oh, there’s plenty of traffic waiting for him up the middle, but give him credit. He tried barreling through anyway. They’re fortunate to get a yard out of that one. Second and nine. Here’s Dart. Now he’s going to step up and run. And he’ll take this beyond the line of scrimmage as he slides to a hole. He’ll wind up getting four there on his own, but it will leave him now with a third down situation. [Applause] In search of four yards here to pick up the first down. [Music] Dart from the gun on third down. He’ll try and do this himself and it’s a fumble. And now this is scooped up by the 49ers and his guys are going to take over at the 31 yd line. That play just looked a little helter skelter from the start. That’s the risk as a quarterback. Once you take off with that football, you might fumble it. And he did. And he was going for the reward, which is gaining yardage, breaking down a defense. But you’re right about the risk. Always lurking out there. Someone always trying to get to the football. Try to find a place to cover up and slide and protect what you’ve earned. The Ner set to take over on offense. They’ve got a seven nothing lead in the football as well as they start out first and 10. [Applause] McCaffrey running up the middle and running room scarce here. He’s going to be stopped in his tracks at the line of scrimmage. Credit him with a one-yd gain there to make it second and nine. That felt like a trap cuz it looked to me like the opposing front was on that play from the get-go. They had everyone crashing the ball carrier before he even made the line and they hold him to just a yard. Birdie complete to the tight end KD over the middle of the field and inside the 20 before he’s brought down. KD’s got his first catch and it’s also a first down. Another nice play there. They’ve gotten down into the red zone in no time at all. That’s what this offense can do when they get on a roll. And now they’re set up with a first and 10. So from the 17 now, here’s a first and 10. Pie will set up to throw it here. They’ll set up the screen to McCaffrey. And this one goes nowhere. Losing yardage back at the 22. So it goes as a completed pass, but they lose a full five yds. Well, his completion percentage continues to rise with that one, but sometimes you want your completion percentage to go down. Maybe you should have thought about throwing that one away. I was just going to say it is easier said than done, but that’s where you maybe bury it at his feet. Make sure he doesn’t catch it. Great. Great call right there. Put it near the receiver. No grounding, nothing like that. But no one gets a chance to pick it off either. The result only four yards there on the play. And that’ll bring up a third and 11 situation. They’re backed up here. Tough spot. Needing 11 yds to pick up the first. [Applause] Here’s Pertie. And he’ll dump this off to his running back McAffrey. They’ll get only a yard out of that and it’ll bring up fourth down. We can make this one pretty simple. Locked up all of his progressions downfield. forced to get it to his running back. But how about the way they ran to the football and knocked him down to force a fourth down Eddie Pinro on now from the left hash this from 34. This is up and good from Pinro and that will extend their lead even further. So the defense are able to force their first turnover of the game and then they add on to that by getting the field goal. And you don’t just want to take the ball away from your opponent partner. You want to make them hurt as well. And if you don’t score yourself on defense, turn it over to your offense and have them put points on the board. So after the main field goal, 10 nothing here early as the kicks away. They had able to get this out to the 25. 10 and New York set to take the field. Still in the first half, but this offense has struggled. Haven’t really been able to get anything going, not only in the points category, but in the yards category. We’ll see if they can do better here on this drive. Looking to put a drive together. Tracy going to get it on first down. And he’ll manage to pick up about four. It’s second down. You’re down early. How do you get back in the game? Maybe establish the run. I think they’re trying to do that. I’m with you on that one. And what I like about the message is that there’s no panic from the head coach. He’s already told his offensive coordinator, “Let’s run the football. Let’s get things settled down a little bit and find our way back into this game.” and he stopped immediately there. A loss on that play and now third down gets tougher. Third and six. They had three tight ends in that formation. That’s almost a universal sign that they’re planning to run the football. But how about the defense there? They met force with force and caused a stack up behind the line of scrimmage and threw him for a loss. Third down and six. [Music] to the air. Dart. There’s a short one caught by Johnson. And I don’t think he got there. No. He’s short by maybe a foot. Maybe. Call it fourth and inches. I thought maybe when he caught he’d have a good chance of getting that first down, but that’s a nice job of holding him up and preventing him from getting to the sticks. On fourth down. Here’s Jamie Gillan on to punt. Oh, it’s a wobbler here and no return on this one as that kicks out of bounds. So, they’ll start just outside of their own 30 yd line as San Francisco’s offense returns to the field. They’re looking sharp out early to a 10zip lead and looking for more as they’ve got it first and 10. [Applause] birdie now to throw. That’s caught out right by Jennings. Call it a gain of six on the play. And that’ll bring up second down. We’ve seen quite a bit of the short passing game here early on first quarter, haven’t we? We have. And I think it works a couple of ways for for this team because number one, you throw the short game until they stop it. And if they’re not going to stop it, you keep throwing it and occasionally you’ll break a tackle and turn into a bigger gain. Also, if they start to creep up, start to pressure receivers. Now you go over the top, take it deep. Now you get some of those big shots downfield. And that’ll hurt the average a bit as this time they’re able to get him behind the line. An awful lot of congestion in the middle third of the field. But how about our defensive tackle right there? He didn’t just hold the line. and he provided some push and smacked the ball carrier down for a loss. Now Perty that is caught and he is going to have a 49ers first down as they’re able to get the third down conversion and the 49er first down. First and 10 at the 44 yd line. a pretty sizable deficit here in the first quarter, this defense probably need to get off the field in those situations on third down. And you and I both know in this huddle before that last third down play. That’s exactly what they talked about. Let’s make a play. Let’s get off the field. Let’s reverse the momentum. Instead, they got hit with another first down. Almost back to the drawing board. And he had a nifty little deep juke move, but he stopped shortly thereafter. Five yds is the tally on first down. That brings up second and five. A quick burst there and he nicely bit off a pretty decent game. Now second and five. They’ll bring the tight end in motion right here. [Applause] Second down and right back to McCaffrey. And he’ll do a nice job here just to fight his way back to the line of scrimmage. They’ll say no gain on the play there. Now it’ll be third down. What an advantage having an elite guy in the middle of the defensive line because not only does he take up the space and let the linebackers run free, but he can also make plays himself as we just saw there throwing here. Birdie and this pass broken up. Excellent coverage there on third down as that was not an easy one to hold on to. It’s fourth down. Anytime he reads man coverage, I don’t think it’s going to be the only time he’ll try and hit that route to the outside in this game, he’ll test the perimeter, but that time they were up to the challenge. Here’s Thomas Morstead on now to punt it away on fourth down. And that will bounce out of bounds before they can get a return going. First and 10 at their own 19 yd line. The Giants offense at the line ready to begin their next drive. They’ve shown precious little here offensively thus far as they try again with a first down. Now up to the 35 before they’re able to knock him down. 10 nothing the score after one on EA Sports. ready to roll for the second quarter from Metife Stadium. The Giants with the football as they’ve got it with a first and 10. Play action now. Dart throw right side taken in by Bellinger and brought down but not before reaching the 45 yd line. That’ll be a pick up of 10 as they try to recover from this 10-point deficit. And what a nice example there of a tight end doing exactly what he needs to do. How about how he worked his way to the outside, made sure he secured the catch, and then anything after that, we count that as a bonus. And indeed, he gets enough for the first down. The throw is Jordan. And that nearly trouble, but it’s incomplete. The rookie had it and lost it. And it’ll be second down. Offense was moving it a little bit. Had them back on their heels, but they earn a brief pause by forcing the incompletion. That gives them a quick chance to regroup and try and mount a stand before they’re backed up even further to throw now. Dart. He’s going to loft one deep left side here. And this is caught inside the five and all the way in. Touchdown New York. A big play there. 54 yds. And the Giants have cut it back within a score. Well, partner, I mean, if anybody was still questioning whether or not he had an NFL caliber arm, I think you can toss that right out the window. That was a heck of a throw right there. I would agree totally. Question it no more. This rookie, big- time throw right there. Great poise, stepped up, trusted he could lay it in there perfectly, and he knew that his guy was going to make the catch on the other end. Nice collaboration. Graham Gau on for the extra point [Applause] and they’re back within a field goal. It’s 107 now. takes the score 10. A drive there of just four plays and it was finished off by a touchdown by the New York Giants. [Applause] Go now following the touchdown here to kick it away. And a good return as he’ll be stopped just shy of the 30 yd line. Christian McAffrey and his 49er teammates back onto the field and he’s well on his way to a 100yard game. He’s already more than halfway there. We’re only in the second quarter. And what I’ve always loved about running backs is they’ll tell you, “I had no idea how many yards I had.” Those guys have an innate sense of where they are in a ball game and how many yards they’ve accumulated cuz you know they’re always working towards 100. He’s been working well towards 100 here. Perie looking to throw. Pass caught by Pearson and they nearly get this all the way to midfield. Mark him down at the 49. Great way to start the drive. 20 big ones in a first down. It’s a gain of 20 and a 49er first down. They like going to him in the slot. He catches another one. I think this comes under the heading of until they stop him, why not go back to him? He has something going really well. great working relationship with the guy throwing the ball and they keep making the connection and he’s going to get this past the 50 and into Giant territory. A gain of three. Second down. Give credit to the defense for stringing that play out and they gave up no cut back angle. You know he was trying to dart through. No place for him to go. A nice job there only giving up a three-yd gain from just shy of midfield. Perie open man is Kendrick Bourne and they’re going to have another first down as the tackles made at the Giants 32 yd line. It’s a gain of 16. It’s a pick up of 16 there and it’ll lead to a new set of downs. First down. First and 10 at the 32 yd line. So many times in my career I’ve heard coaches talk about completions are one thing, but as long as we’re there at the catch and we get guys on the ground, we can live with that. But if you’re going to give up 10, 12, 15 yards after the catch, then your defense is going to be in a lot of trouble. On first down, this is McCaffrey. Oh, that’s just not fair. And now room to run to the 27 yd line. I feel like I could see what he was thinking on that carry. Wanted to follow that big tackle through the hole. Ended up only getting four yards on the carry. I think he had designs on that one being bigger. Now a second and six. Play action. And now here’s Pie to throw it now. A quick throw there, but it’s going to be incomplete. I see the surprise in your face there, partner. That is a rare incompletion from him. He’s been on point this entire game. He has percentage completion wise way up. Not that time. The Ners on third down. They’ve only converted once in four tries. This will be third and six. Operating from the gun. Perie. They’ll try and do this himself. And they’re going to have another first down as the tackles made at the Giants 16. It’s a gain of 11 yds that time. And it produces a new set of downs. 49er. First down. A gain of 11 on the play. First down, San Francisco. Now that’s a quarterback who’s in charge out there right now. Wants to throw the ball on third down. Doesn’t find anyone open. Tucks it away. Takes off and picks up the first down. Not by a little, but by plenty. He takes us down to about the 12 for a gain of three. Not a run that you’re going to write home about, but still a good first down run. And that’s what an offense calls staying on schedule. 3 to four yards on first down, you’re set up very well for the rest of the drive. Second and six. Perie from the gun now. He’ll tuck this and run and he’ll get it here to the 10 yd line. And we’re going to stop play here at least momentarily. It looks like there is a 49er who’s in some discomfort. We’ll get an update when we return to Metife Stadium. [Applause] [Applause] They’ll break the huddle and come up on the ninth play of this drive. Needing five yds on third down. And here comes throw number one for the backup QB. He’ll try and do this himself. Eight yds that time. Able to take off and the result is a first down. And the 49er first down. First and goal San Francisco. A Brandon, that’s a gamer move right there. Facing third down, steps up, calls his own number, and nearly makes the house call. If I’m the coach, I let him take another one right here. Give him a chance to be the first one to hit the end zone after that effort he just gave him. McCaffrey diving for the end zone and he is in. touchdown. So, his strong first half continues as he finds the end zone here for the second time. And definitely good blocking at the point of attack. And you just have to love watching the way you can create space down near the goal line. And he’s able to take it into the end zone. [Applause] Pierro now to add the extra point. [Applause] It’s good to make it 17-7. A 10play drive that time. And the last play on the drive, the touchdown run from Christian McCaffrey. [Applause] [Music] Now after the touchdown, here’s Pinro to kick it off. And they will wrangle him down a couple yards shy of the 30. The Giants going to take over again on offense. A lot of time for this unit to game plan on the sideline after that drive that they watched the other side just score. But remember, last time they were out, they scored as well. We’ll see if they can seize that momentum right back. And they have had a lot of time to cool off from reaching the end zone the last time. So, have they been able to keep themselves mentally sharp and into this game even though they haven’t been on the field? And you and I both know one big play though gets them right back up to that level. They’ll start on the ground here on first down and down right around the 32 yd line. Four yardds on the pickup. They’d love to just strike back with a touchdown right here. And if it’s a long play, so be it. But the main goal, get a couple of first downs, run some plays, run some clock, allow their defense to get a chance to catch their breath, settle down, and relax a little bit after they just gave up a score to throw dart. And this is going to be incomplete. I tell you what, that’s a bedroom play from a guy in his first season in the NFL. A lot of rookies are trying to force something there. He thought better of it, and that was the right decision. So after the second down incompletion, they’ll come up now against a third and six. Here’s Dart. He’s got his target. That’s complete. And he will have a Giants first down as they’re able to get the third down conversion. And a Giants first down. First and 10 at the 43 yd line. Yeah, these are the types of plays they’re going to need to hit on if they’re going to get back into this game. It hasn’t been the greatest of first halves, but this is a nice throw here on third down and they keep the drive going. We got it. We got it. We got it. Throwing is Dart. Open man downfield is Johnson and he’ll get this one down near the 20 yd line just shy of the 20. A gain of 36. 36 yds on the play. Another Giants first down. First and 10 at the 22 yd line. Let’s just call it as we just saw it right there. A breakdown defensively. Seems like no one went with the tight end and no one really did. Had all sorts of space in the middle of the field. Yeah, everyone else was covered, but he was not. Big play results. Play fake. And here’s Jar. Now he’s going to step up and run. He’ll get eight on the scramble there. It’ll be second and a couple. I think the last two plays really illustrate how difficult it is to game plan against this guy because, you know, he can throw the football, but how about his use of legs as well? what we call those broken plays. You can’t account for them. Yeah, those plays, those two that you just mentioned, a microcosm really of how he can hurt you. Straight ahead, here’s Tracy and he will take it on in for a Giant touchdown. A great effort there with his second touchdown here in this first half. And the Giants are back within a score. Well, solid blocking up front from the guys on the offensive line allowed him to get in for the touchdown. Yeah, some might say that the guys on the offensive line were in concert. I used to have a coach who called it marrying up, meaning when you get on a guy, you just stay right there and each guy has his own assignment that allowed the runner to make the big move towards the end zone. Gnome for the extra point. And this is up and good to make it a 1714 game. So the drive there took six plays and it’s capped off by a 13 yd touchdown run. Love you boys. [Applause] Go now following the touchdown here to kick it away and up to about the 26 yd line just across the 25. 10 and 10. The 49ers offense and Christian McCaffrey ready to go once more. He’s been a tough man to stop in this first half. He’s putting up some big numbers already and we have yet to reach halftime. [Applause] The San Francisco offense ready to start their next drive. We have witnessed touchdowns on back-to-back drives. We’ll see if the offense can continue this uptick here. And I know you’re looking at me funny. You’re wondering when I’m going to get upset watching these guys go up and down field, aren’t you? I wasn’t looking at you. I got something in my eye. Uhhuh. That’s the excuse that you always use for something like that. Listen, I appreciate good offensive football as much as the next person. When it’s played well and is skillful, I’m with it. And right now, this is exciting. Oh, the defender likes it. Back to throw party and that is incomplete. A lot of force bearing down on him there. He could not hang on. It’s third down. His back has been a dependable safety valve all game. So he went back to him when his first read was covered. Just unable to connect. So the play results in no gain. The Ner on third down. They’ve hit at 50% three of six to this point. This time they face a third and two. And this pass broken up. The contact well timed there. And now fourth down. That could be the stop this defense needed to get them back on track. They’ve been pretty well dissected by the offense here in the first half. After that possession, now they know that they can compete with this offense. Now the veteran Thomas Morstead on to put it away. Isco. He’s been a busy man here in this first half as he gets it away. That’ll be a 41 yd punt. Four yardds there on the return. And it’ll be Giant football first and 10. New York set to take the field. Little bit of flip the script. Quarter one, they struggled. Quarter two here, they put things together. And I guess sometimes, Charles, you just come out and you have to get your feet underneath you in a ball game, right? That’s exactly right. Because every now and then you don’t come out of the gate as fast or as strong as you want to. Sometimes you have to ramp up into it or take a few hits along the way and figure it out. And that’s what they’ve done so far. Slow start, but now they’re starting to put it together. Oh, and this one may need to go back to the drawing board. He’s going to be swallowed up right away. one yardd. Just a yard on the pickup there and it’ll bring up a second and nine. [Applause] Throwing dart now. They go screen. It’s complete and only able to get two here. Stopped at the 30. Good reactions there defensively. That screen was a little slow in developing and they shut that one down with little gain. [Applause] So, seven yds from the first down here as they come up to the line of scrimmage. Dart from the gun on third down. Able to find the open man that’s complete and he’s taken down right at the 45 yd line. Excellent play there on third down. Give him 25 yds. First down. First and 10 at the 45 yd line. Well, certainly as a fan, you get a little bit nervous when you see him make those kind of throws, but they work on that in practice more than we know. And most of them now know their limits and know what they can get away with. And there’s a completion right there. Play action now. D. He’s got his man downfield. It’s Robinson. And they’ll wind up getting this one all the way down inside the 20. A really good pick up of 28 yd. Kind of a dangerous throw there. He’s off balance when he gets rid of it, but this is all about a quarterback knowing what he can get away with. And that time it turns into a completion and a helpy gain as well. Two minutes remaining in this first half of football. They’ll hand it to Tracy. Just a yard on the first down carry. So, it’s second and nine. Vision is so important for the man in the middle because his ability to to look through all the clutter that’s happening in front of him, diagnose a play, and then go make it and finish it. That’s when the great ones know that they have the goods. Here’s Dart able to locate his man Sllayton on an out route. The 49ers now going to use the first of their timeouts as they’ll head to the sideline and talk over what to do next. [Applause] This will be play number seven on the drive. Third and a yard. They’ll try and run for this with Single Terry. He didn’t get the touchdown, but he did get the first down as he’s tackled at the one. Now San Francisco going to call their second timeout. And they’ll be disappointed to have to burn one there after giving up the first down. [Applause] Now it’s Tracy and he is in. Touchdown Giants. A great play there on his way to a monster game. Three first half touchdowns. And the Giants have taken the lead. Sometimes offenses can get too cute down near the goal line, but there’s nothing fancy about this one. As coach Lombardi would say, we get a seal here and we get a seal here. And I believe they buzzed down. They’re going to take another look at this play with all reviews coming from the replay official here in the final two minutes of the half. The thing that they’ll be looking at is a spot of the football. And this is always such a tough one for officials to get exactly right. Not just because of how fast the game’s going, but just trying to get the right sight line to the football. That’s not always easy. We’ll see what they decide here. And now the ners going to signal for their third and final timeout as they’ll talk things over prior to this upcoming second down play. That’s a gimme. One of the tight ends comes in motion. Right back to Tracy. And forget about finding a lane. He barely had time to look up before he was planted in the back field. It’ll be a loss of a full three yds there. And it also brings up third down. We all know how much running backs love getting the ball down near the goal line. They think they’re going to find a way into the end zone. He hasn’t had that kind of luck so far. Ends up not getting in on the last two carries. You know, he’s going to be upset about a missed out and he is going to go down. Back at the 11 yd line. And that sack brings up fourth and goal. A loss of seven. Big play. The defense, they brought the house that O line, they were overwhelmed, to put it mildly, because they didn’t have enough bodies to block all the guys that came at them. Their best move, how they would have been better served, just turn around and yell, “Look out, cuz here they come.” The Giants going to go ahead and use the first of their timeouts as they stop it with 28 seconds to go in the first half of play. [Music] On fourth down on is Graham Gnau for the Giants field goal from the right hash here. Should be an easy one. Go’s kick is good. And that will tie things at 17 all. Maybe a nice psychological boost there just to get back to even with that field goal as we head towards half. Coaching 101 always says at halftime, play it like it’s zero zero on the scoreboard. Well, in this case, it’s level, right? Same score each side. Just start over. Now you’ve got the second half to play. 1717 the score. All even to this point as the kicks away. and he’ll be stopped up at the 25. The Niners ready to go on offense for the final time of this first half. And with time quickly fading here in the second quarter. Not sure how aggressively offensively they want to play this. I think we’ll find out just how much they trust their guys in this situation if they decide to take a shot. A little over 20 seconds remaining in the half as they’ll line up here. First and 10. Birdie on the RPO. He’ll keep it himself and he slides and covers up at the end as he’s going to be able to pick up decent yardage. Nifty running there, but it’ll come on what should be the final play of half number one. [Applause] So, we are deadlocked at the break here and the EA Sports halftime report starts now. Here’s Scott Hansen. Okay, Brandon, thank you. Scott Hansen, back with you in the studios in Orlando. We’ve got a close one as we expected. No quarter given on either side. We are all tied up at the break. This one could go either way. So, let’s find out as they’re ready for the third quarter kickoff. send it back out to the stadium and our commentary team, Brandon Goden and Charles Davis. All right, Scott, great work as always. We’ll see what the second half brings here. These two defensive coordinators probably scratching their heads at intermission. These offenses, they have had their way so far. so we’re right back where we started. All even as the kicks away and the tackle going to be made right there at the 25 yd line. 25. Here’s the Giants offense now getting set to start the third quarter. Well, the first half very even. I mean, really in all facets this ball game tied, Charles. So, as we start the third quarter, curious to see what the second half brings us. Certainly am. I’m with you on that one. And we all know a lot of coaches from the NFL all the way down to the pee-wee level. They love to spin it to their teams. Hey, we’re starting a brand new shorter ball game. It’s all even. Let’s go out and seize it. This is ours. And he takes us up to the 40 yd line before being coraled. 53 yds rushing for him now as he’s run it 11 times. Giants first down. Well, as we’ve learned over the years, just because a guy plays left tackle doesn’t mean he doesn’t have run blocking abilities. And we just saw it there. Control the line of scrimmage, created a big gain. That’s kind of a bonus. He’s there to protect that high value that you have back under center, but he creates space in the run game. Yeah. Not only can he dance, he can mash, too. And it’s incomplete. Took a shot, couldn’t connect. They geared up and took the deep shot downfield, but it turned out it wasn’t one-on-one coverage. Extra defenders in the area, and that one winds up incomplete. Now a second and 10. throwing from the gun here. Dart throws to his man on the out round. It’s complete. That’s Robinson. Just his second catch of the game so far. This one moves the chains. What an intelligent play as he found open grass and uncovered quickly. A nice clutch play to move the chains. The defense, they’ve got to do a much better job of accounting for these shorter routes. throwing his dart. He’s got Sllayton on the slant and he is tackled inside the 40. Not quite to the 35. Two catches in the first half. Now he’s got a third here and it’s good for a first. That was a nicely run slant route. And what the receivers’s trying to do is make the defender think he’s going up field for a deeper route and then breaks it off usually after about three to four steps and cuts towards the middle of the field. And now what he’s trying to do is use his body to keep the defender away from the football and give the quarterback a really nice target. Call it a full three yards in the wrong direction there. Brings up second down. That’s a play to take note of there for the defense. I think in the future if you’re going to try and block him, maybe you get a guard to help double team him and try and steer him out of the play. They should have done it on that snap. Dart going to look to throw here. And down he goes. The 49ers get there. It’ll go in the books. Is a sevenyd loss on the sack and it’s third down. All about the offense so far this drive putting something sustained together. But the defense they responded on that play. Second and manageable became third and long. The drive marching to the end zone is one play from stalling out. needs something from deep in the bag of tricks here after first and second down. Went backwards. It’s third and very long. He lets this one fly toward the back of the end zone and that is incomplete. Oh, he had it and dropped it. That is an unforced air there and it takes away what could have been a touchdown. Concentration so key on a ball like that. It’s hard. I know how difficult it is, but that’s a ball you’ve got to come up with. And instead, a big play is going to slip through their fingers, literally and figuratively. And the punt over the side in the air, and the spot will be inside the 35. Here’s a look at the 49ers offense as they make their way out for their first possession of the second half. We have not seen much on offense here from either side these last few drives. We’ve hit a wall, so to speak. and have hit it hard, haven’t we? Because the defenses right now, they seem to be a step ahead, don’t they? Beating them to the point of attack, beating them to the punch. These offensive guys, they’re tinkering like crazy. What’s it going to take to get back on track? Yeah, both sides searching for adjustments. Oh, he shifts past him and getting this just shy of midfield. They’ll spot it at the 49. 91 yds for him on the ground now as he has been terrific here this afternoon. A gain of 19 yds first down 49ers. He continues to be effective running the football. A big reason that they have the lead. And I love one of the quotes that I read about him where he said of himself, I love it when a team just hops on my back and I just carry them along. throwing here. Birdie connects with KD underneath and he’s got this down a yard or two shy of the 40 before he’s out of bounds. So the completion results there in nine yards and that’ll give him a short yardage situation here for second down [Applause] up the guard. McCaffrey. Nifty move and brought down, but not before they’re inside the 25. 18 yds. First down ners. Boy, where would these guys be without his performance on the ground? That puts him over 100 yards now for the afternoon. And I tell you, he seems to be getting stronger as the day goes along. Perie now to throw. That’s over the middle and caught by Pearl. And that’s good for a pick up of 10 yardds. And that’ll leave him with a second and just a few inches left. Well, coaches always talk about finding balance on offense. I don’t think you get much more balance than this. Big time run, big time pass. A one-two combination. Looked pretty good. How about that? Let’s see if they Let’s see if they can continue to take that kind of a punch, though. Here’s Party. And that’ll be incomplete. Took a pretty good shot as he tried to pull that one in. Couldn’t hang on. Third down. In the red zone. Precision is the watch word. If the throw is a little too early, too late, maybe off a little bit, going to be a good chance that any attempt is going to be a contested one. And that one falls incomplete. Perie on a sneak and he is going to have a niner’s first down maybe by about a yard as they find a way to convert on third and inches. That’s another 49er first down. There may be a little bit of an element of surprise there. Third and inches and they go quarterback sneak. I still feel like this is a play that often is reserved for fourth down from down at the 12. It’s first and 10. Pial set up to throw it here. Well, it’s a shuffle pass and it’s complete. And they’ll lose yardage here. They go backwards to the 13 yd line. Some people call it a shuffle pass. Some people call it a shovel pass. All you’re trying to do is open up the middle of the field, flip the ball forward. In this case, they didn’t gain any yardage. A small bit of adversity here on what’s been a strong drive as they come up second and 12. Pertie looking to throw. They’ll set up the screen to McCaffrey. Third down now. Even tougher. Third and 13 after that loss of a yard. Well, Brandon, we could see that play developing. And they were hoping that he was going to be able to put a move on the first guy and turn it into a big play, but no such luck. The speed on defense continues to get better and better in the NFL. Pretty nice example there of those guys being able to run from their assignments and finish off that play. And he’s going to take it in. Touchdown San Francisco. George KD a 14 yd touchdown. And the 49ers have moved down in front. So this game tied at the half, but we are tied no more. A touchdown there on the opening sequence of this third quarter. And what a great drive put together by their offensive coordinator. He had a plan and they executed it almost to perfection coming right out of the locker room. Now they’re feeling good about their chances here in the second half. Pero now to add the extra point and they will take a sevenpoint lead now. So that drive consumes nine plays all told and it all ends with a George KD touchdown. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Now after the touchdown, here’s Pinero to kick it off and makes it across the 20 as his guys will set up shop at the 23 yd line. at their own. New York set to take the field. A last series form a little disappointing. Forced to punt and now they’ll try to do better here and come away with some points as they begin this drive. First and 10 looking to put a drive together [Music] to throw now Dart and the Ners get there and bring him down. and he couldn’t get rid of it. He takes a sack for a loss of six to bring up second down. And this dominant defensive performance continued on that play. This poor quarterback, he’s not received the protection he needs and has had to pick himself up off the turf far too often. Work to be done here on second and 16 after the sack [Applause] to the air. Dart looking for his running back and he’s got him. It’ll go as a gain of four. And they’ll be facing a third and 12. Oh, it’s time to give a little credit there to the defense. They played that very well because it was a drag route and he ran a little shallower than normal as he worked straight across the field. He was hoping he’d get lost behind the defensive line, but once he made the catch, nowhere to turn up field and gain any yardage. Dart and that is incomplete, but a penalty flag coming in. This could be a first down. Well, obviously they never want to see penalties on that defense, but this one a little bit more significant there on the downfield pass play. And coaches preach it all the time. You can’t put yourself in that kind of position if you’re the defender. You’ve got to stay in a spot far downfield where you can play the ball without creating extra contact. This one to Sllayton over the middle and they’re well past midfield, just a yard or two shy of the 40. 11 more yards that go around. A first down as well. First down. First and 10 at the 42 yd line. and he is swallowed up right at the line of scrimmage. No gain on the play. It’ll be second down. Well done to sniff that out defensively. He had it diagnosed pretty quickly. I love that description because diagnosed is perfect on that one. Read his keys, made the play, and he couldn’t even get going moving the football. And they’ll send the tight end in motion. They’ll go again with Tracy. What a nice burst there as he’ll take this inside the 30 to the 28 yd line. 65 yds rushing for him in the ball game now on 14 carries. Absolutely love the run right there. This guy’s known for his quickness, but also for his speed. He’s able to get to the second level almost before you blink if you give him any type of blocking. Always talk about slot receivers and they’re usually known as quicker than fast. In this case, we’ve got a guy who’s quick and fast, and he used it to great advantage. Down at the 25, watching that play unfold and watching him complete it brought back memories of doing all those pursuit drills to make sure you don’t over pursue and let a guy get a cut back lane on you. He did that very well. You praised him on tape yesterday for the angles that he takes to the ball. took a great angle right there. On play action, here’s Dart. And this one nearly intercepted. Boy, that would have been a great time for their first pick. But instead, it’s third down. Tremendous coverage there. Just did not catch the football and complete the interception. But what do they say all the time? If he had really good hands, he’d be playing offense. Eighth play of the drive, fourthcoming. And they need eight yds on third down. Looking to throw Dart now. He’ll and he can’t get rid of it. He’s taken down. Jordan Elliot drops him for a fouryd loss there. And that brings up fourth down. It has been a rough afternoon for him trying to get rid of the football. C. That’s now five sacks. How’d you like to be the offensive coordinator, the offensive line coach trying to come up with an answer for this pass rush? What blocking assignments do you change? Can guys play a little bit better? And we’re seeing the end result on the scoreboard. Long day in the pocket for their quarterback. Graham. They’ll try the field goal now with Graham Gnau. Made his first. This now from 46 yds away. Go’s kick is good. And that’ll bring him back within four. score. So, the response to that touchdown on the other side to begin the third quarter. Look, just three points, but still a response nonetheless. You’re exactly right about that because I think you needed to answer back with something even though it’s not six. Just enough to send the message that says, “Hey, we’re not going away.” Graham after knocking through the field goal. Here’s Gau back out there now for the kickoff. [Applause] and able to get this across the 20, but not much further as he’s dropped at the 23 yd line. And now it looks like he’s in some discomfort after being tackled at the end of that return. We’ll get an update when we return to Metife Stadium. The 49er offense set to get this drive underway. This drive here beginning probably with a pair of motivated groups. Remember the offense scored a touchdown on their last time out looking to repeat that in Charles’s defense. They were very frustrated after giving up six the last time on the field. And frankly, it’s just a battle of wills in a lot of ways because, you know, they’re both motivated. They both game plan for this drive and they both have specific outcomes in mind. To me, it just comes down to who can execute better and which side can step up and assert its will over the other. [Applause] So now 20 yardds to go on second down after the sack. Work to be done. Now Pertie to the right sideline and it falls incomplete. And this drive is almost over before it began thanks to a great defensive effort. Sack on first down followed by an incompletion. One more good rep and they get off the field. An incomplete pass on that last play and that means he’ll need to come up with something here on third down looking to throw. Perie and he’s going to be brought down back at his own sixyd line. Abdul Carter with a big time sack on third down. It’s a loss of seven. Seems to me that our friend Old Momentum, I think he’s definitely changed teams in this game. It’s only going to grow after that sack. And now, heck, they can get the ball back here and possibly even get the lead. Here’s [Applause] Thomas Morstead now as the drive goes backwards. So he’s on to put it away. And now a low liner. I think he mish hit it. And yikes. This will get out of bounds. So without even a return, they’re going to be set up on the outskirts of the red zone. The Giants offense and their quarterback headed out for this next possession. And he had it going in the first half. That’s for sure. He’s really had his way with his secondary. They’ve been powerless to stop him and he’ll look to keep it rolling right here. They’ll go play action here with Dart. That’s to the sideline and incomplete. Nice pass. Absolutely nowhere to go with the football and he’s just going to put this one in the Hudson River. Maybe he’s a little fortunate he didn’t get caught for grounding because that one was well over everyone’s head. Third quarter of a tight football game as we come up on a second and 10. Here’s Tracy and he’s going to push his way down to about the 12. 76 yds rushing for him now to this point. Well, if you like the guys who run the ball, you’re enjoying watching this. But the other guys, especially the defense coordinator, trying to figure out an answer on how to slow down the running game. I think maybe starts to call more blitzes because you can call run blitzes in order to try and get more people to the point of attack. Third down. Here’s Tracy and he’ll go down and that will do it for the third quarter of action. It’ll be first and goal when we come back. We’ll return with more after this break. You’re watching the NFL on EA Sports. Welcome back. Now here in East Rutherford, it’s the Giants with possession of the football, but needing points as we start quarter number four. only way to get the lead here, of course, with a touchdown. And that’s what they’re gunning for on first and goal. Here’s Dart now. He’s going to step up and run. And he’ll protect himself at the end here as he winds up getting pretty decent yardage. He’ll get five out of the scramble. It’s second down. ers. I certainly like what he did right there because he smartly wanted to avoid forcing anything downfield because nothing appeared to be open. Nice harmless slide there to avoid the big hit and he gets a small gain on the play. On the run is Tracy and he is in. Touchdown New York taking it in from four yds out and the Giants have taken a fourth quarter lead. So, he’s in for his third score of the game. And defense probably saying, “Man, we we don’t want to see this guy for a long time.” It’s bad enough when anyone scores a touchdown against you, but for one person to get three, it almost sets him apart from the rest of the game, and no one likes to see any of those players on a pedestal. Not from the defensive point of view. Now, an important extra point here to stretch this lead to a field goal. He’s got it. And this is indeed up to a three-point lead. makes the score. Giants the drive summary that time five plays and it’s finished off with a five yd touchdown run. [Applause] Gnau now following the touchdown here to kick it away. [Applause] and he brings us out past the 20 to the 24. The Ner’s offense and their running back getting ready to go back to work. And it’s hard to believe you could run the ball a whole lot better than he has. The vision, the cutback ability, the acceleration, it’s all been on display throughout. The San Francisco offense ready to start their next drive. We certainly have a good one on our hands. They’re trailing after that last touchdown, but now a chance for this offense to try to snag that lead right back here in the fourth quarter. Two yards on the carry there. It’ll be second down. Not much on that run, Charles. No, that’s exactly the way to execute a run blitz there. They guessed correctly that they would move the ball on the ground, honed in on it, and stopped him. Marked that down for a win in the defenses column. Throwing on second and eight. Birdie, he’ll get this out wide here to McAffrey. And he’s able to take this one up to the 35 yd line. N yds the pick up there and it’s a first down. Well, they certainly had success throughout this contest getting him the ball in the passing game. And there he picks up another first down. Whatever they saw going into this one, they’ve been able to capitalize on it and no adjustment has been made to take it away. Oh, what a heck of an effort there as he’ll make the diving catch. 25 yds that time. 25 yds on the play. That’s another 49er first down. It’s a gain of 25 yds. First down, 49ers. And here we are in the fourth quarter, partner. And watch him drive for what would be a go-ahead touchdown. And you and I both know this is where you need a quarterback who can keep his cool back there, not just for himself, but to keep the rest of the team relaxed, too. Back to throw party. He’ll get this underneath to McCaffrey. Well, offensively, that’s the mismatch that you want. You want to force a linebacker to try and cover your back out of the back field, out in some open space, but linebackers nowadays, they run like backs, and they take a lot of pride in covering. What a nice play he made there in the open field. Perie will look to throw again here. Another grab here for the dynamic Christian McAffrey. It’s a loss of a yard. So, it’s back to third and 10. Really good defensive effort. They were all over that little swing pass out to the right side before lost yardage. Terrific read, better execution, and done with a lot of enthusiasm, wasn’t it? Absolutely. They saw it all the way. Ran to the football and caused a nice play for lost yardage. Back to throw again. And he can’t get away from the pressure. The Giants get there. Dropped for a loss of seven by multiple defenders. A third and long. You knew that he was going to throw it. He just couldn’t find anybody to throw it to. Yeah. And it shouldn’t have been a surprise, but that was perfect execution of their nickel defense. That fifth defensive back, the extra defender. He really tightened up things downfield in coverage, and they were able to get to him in the pocket. Here’s Thomas Morstead now as he’s on for the fifth time here today. And here’s a very low line drive. Almost whiffed on it. And New York set to take the field. Their defense got the stop, forced the punt, and now you really start to monitor the clock as they nurse this slim lead. Good starting field position for them here as they come up first and 10 at their 36 yd line. They’ll fake the give. Now it’s Dar. Now he’ll tuck this and run. He’ll get five out of the scramble. It’s second down. Well, it certainly appears to me that the defensive guys are starting to look a little bit tired while he still has some fresh legs. Not the biggest gain we’ve seen on a scramble, but still some positive yardage on a play that initially looked like a sure win for the defense. Here’s a second and five. on the ground. Here comes Tracy and he’s dropped just before the line to game. Four yd pickup leaves him with third and one. That’s it. That’s what you want. Straight ahead positive gain. Just keep that clock ticking. And this offense on third down today. They’ve converted five times in their many chances thus far. They need just a yard here. It’s third and one and it’ll be touched down here, but not before he does pick up the first. Only three there on the pickup, but that’s enough to move the chains. First and 10. They pick it up on third and one on the quarterback sneak. And that’s not easily done because there are extra bodies in there on the defensive side and they’re moving forward at the snap. Yeah, I was certainly expecting a handoff, weren’t you? Yeah, I totally was. I thought they’d go with a back, maybe try and get a lead blocker in front, but as you talk about in different games, those guys under pressure and down he goes. Jordan Elliot picks up his second sack of the afternoon. I don’t know what else can be said about this pass rush. They have been sensational, CD. That is now six sacks for them. And how many times do we talk to offensive coordinators and they say a sack is a result of everyone on offense not doing their job? But let’s be honest about this one. This is the offensive line unable to counter the pass rush. They’ve been teeing off all game long. After the sack, it’s second and 19. And the road gets a bit tougher from here. To throw is dart left side. He’s got Robinson. Two yards on the pickup there. And they’re going to be staring at a third and long here. Facing some long odds here if they hope to convert as they’re well behind the original line of scrimmage now on third and long. They’ll look to throw. He gets it left side to Johnson and they’ll bring him down right at midfield and he is well short of the first down. He wasn’t the primary target but I think it was almost like a a checkown situation, wasn’t it? Yeah. Hoping he can break some tackles, the big tight end, but he couldn’t do it. Yeah. Get it to that big frame and hope he can scatter some bodies. Unable to get it done. On fourth down, the punt team is on as this is sent away. And just a 30 yd punt that time and they will take over. First and 10. The 49ers offense now they get set to head back on the field. Their defense accomplished step one of the mission. They force the punt. Now they’ll look to erase that deficit and take a fourth quarter lead. Perie going to lead the 49ers to the line. First and 10 at their own 24. He’ll start by handing this off to McCaffrey. That’s to about the 28. Second down coming up. That’s a really good gain right there. They pick up five yards halfway to a first down. The only problem now in the huddle. Everyone’s going to want to touch the football. Be a lot of chattering now because they’ve seen that they can move the line of scrimmage. From the 28, it’s second and five. McCaffrey on the counter and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line. First down San Francisco. The pick up 14 yds. First down. A gain of 14. And the 49er first down. Another carry for their leader and a good one. It’s crunch time. They’ll need him to continue to be productive in both the run and passing game in order for them to try and snatch a victory. They go play action here. Perie, he’s got a man. It’s his fullback and he gets this to the other side of midfield across the 45 before going out. 15 more there and they’re on a roll. It’s another first down. Hold on a second. Was that the pullback? That was the fullback. Who says it to slide receivers? the only guys can catch the football and get big yardage after the catch. Really nice job there showing good hands and an ability to get up field. Shotgun hand off now to McAffrey and he can only manage to get a couple. Second and eight coming up. That’s just a pile of bodies there and that’s when you kind of find out who’s a tough guy, right? Who can stand up and make a play. It was only a three-yd run, but for both sides, they had to walk away from that feeling like, “Okay, I can stand up when the going gets tough in here.” Birdie pass caught by Pearl and they’re going to have another first down as the tackles made at the Giants 26. Oh, they give him 14 yds that time and a fresh set of downs. That’s another 49er first down. First and 10. I love the drive they’re working on here because they know they can take the lead with a touchdown. And so far on this drive so good. They’ve moved the ball down the field with very little resistance defensively, but they better be prepared for some adjustments to come their way. Now they’ll give it up to McAffrey. They get him to the ground right on the cusp of the red zone after a pick up of five or six. This has been an up and down back and forth type of a game, hasn’t it? Maybe this long drive could take a little bit of the wind out of their sales kind of settle things down a little bit. Now second and four. A throwing here. It’s caught by Jennings. Jawan Jennings. It’s a gain of eight and a 49er first down. First and 10 at the 12 yd line. Three points separating these two sides with two minutes left to go in the fourth. So it’s 49er football here as we get you reset. They come up on a first and 10. Desperately needing a score here on what could be their final drive. That’s caught out right by Jennings. Then across the chalk into the end zone. It’s a 49er touchdown. Jawan Jennings an 11 yd touchdown. And the ners have retaken the lead. And touchdown and congratulations and zero relaxation ahead of them. Right. Way too much time on the clock for them to start celebrating. Yeah, part one is done. But now on the sideline, you can already see them scrambling down there. They’re getting those defensive guys ready. Yes, you have to get those guys ready. And you also have to talk to your special teams guys. Make sure the kickoff is exactly what you want and cover it well. Still an important piece of business to take care of the extra point. [Applause] [Music] And that will make this a four-point game. makes the score. So that drive takes him down the field in eight plays and it’s polished off by a touchdown for San Francisco. [Applause] [Applause] Now after the touchdown, here’s Pinero to kick it off and he’ll take it up past the 25 to the 26 yd line. Giants take over. So now here is Jackson Dart and the Giants down 3127. A minute 52 to play. They need a touchdown. A field goal is worthless now as they come up on first and 10. They’ll start with a run by Tracy looking to find a lane but he can’t. Rained in at the line of scrimmage. Not in a position where they absolutely have to rush right now but they definitely have to pick up the tempo a bit. They’ll come up now. Second and nine. He’ll look to throw. He’s got his man. It’s Hyatt. The Giants going to go ahead and use the first of their timeouts as they’ll get a chance to talk it over after picking up the first down. First and 10 at the 36 yd line. back to throw and that’s going to be caught downfield by Sllayton and he finally goes down but not before reaching the 21. Now the Giants will use the second of their three timeouts as they’ll head to the sideline and talk over what to do next. Just the one timeout remaining as they try to navigate this twominute drill. First and 10. He’s back to throw. Well, a tough throw there across his body. It’s incomplete. Limited time left on the clock after that incompletion. So, I think both sides are going to savor every second to prepare before the next snap because once the ball’s in motion, it may be a non-stop push to finish this drive off. Everyone better be on the same page right now because I think they’re going to try and get several plays off in quick succession if they can. Throw left side complete. That’s Johnson and they’ve got it inside the 10 at the eight. But they picked up a little bit of yardage there. And now in this situation should be in no hurry to run a play really fast. Let the clock wind down. The 8 yd line. Now first and goal. [Applause] And the stop will come inside the five at the four. Gosh, given the time in the short game, would he have been better off just dropping that? Yeah, when you look at the clock, you think so? But it’s hard to get a receiver to drop a football. They’re trained to catch everything. Second and goal from inside the five. Back to throw. He’s got it. The Giants going to burn their third and final timeout as they get it with just 19 seconds left on the clock. A lot of tired bodies on that field, but this is a big play. Third and goal. They’ll try to throw for it with Dart and he can’t get a throw off. He’s taken down. What a huge play at this point in the game. Seven yd. It’s fourth and goal. Well, it came down to the final play in such a close ball game. What a game it was. But they can’t get that last throw off. Good job by that defense to get in there for the sack to seal it. And for fans watching the game, a little bit anticlimactic, don’t you think, partner? Not even able to get off one last throw to see how it would have turned out. Instead, pass rush got to him and ended it that way. So, that’ll just about do it for Charles Davis. I’m Brandon Gordon. You’ve been watching the NFL on EA Sports. For more, log on to easports.com. It's funny how after the refs blow the whistle players still run into the opponents with the ball.
I hope karma comes back and hits them all that hit after the whistle is blown.
Like the la dodgers pitcher hitting the batter on purpose and when a batter hits the ball it hits the pitcher's leg 🦵 karma came back.
Any doubt giants are losers??? Just watch.
