Zayne Parekh will be playing tonight, meaning his ELC will come into effect

  1. Finally. I don’t get why we were playing games about it. He’s too good for junior.

  2. No sense in sending him down to play with children. Give him a top 4 role with zero pressure and let him learn

  3. Thank fuck.  Sending him back to the OHL is how you burn a player and turn him into Sam Bennett

  4. I’m annoyed there was even a discussion. As much as he could struggle in the NHL dominating the O and getting nothing out of it is even worse

  5. LET’S GO ZAYNE!

I hope this means he plays every game for the rest of the season.

  6. Great to see. I had a feeling Conroy was going to keep him up. Unfortunately it was either here or junior, and it just didn’t make sense to send him back down (which management clearly recognized by making this move).

  7. We are soo bad with young players. Glad they made the right decisions here. Now quit screwing around with Coronato and Zary and start benching the vets that are playing like crap.

  8. Honestly think sitting him out was just for precautionary measures to avoid him getting injured or aggravating any nagging injury + I guess they needed more time to think about future plans with Zayne too

  9. The whole playing ten games and burning a year off the ELC is overblown. What matters is 40 games since that will count a year towards free agency. There’s no more bridge deals anymore, so it’s not a bad thing for the ELC to expire sooner since you can sign them to a longer deal at a lower AAV with one less year of development.

  10. Well that defeats my guess that Calgary would send down Parekh back to the OHL before his 10th game or 1 full month with the team (regardless of his ability to already dominate the OHL).
