  1. Winning is such good vibes lol

I’m like “awww I love George”

To be fair being born and then you’re responsible for one of the most storied NFL franchises is kind of a lot to ask of a person.

  2. I love this shit, I’ve heard some podcasts allude to George getting pumped up during the games even when they were fucking terrible.

Also, him signaling to get down like all of us.

  3. I’ll always have a soft spot for George. I’ve met him a couple of times at training camp and he’s been nothing but kind. He’s taken photos with my daughter and gave her a bears coin on one of the occasions. It’s clear he loves the team.

  4. He genuinely loves the bears and wants to win, he just keeps making bad hires and keeping them way too long

  5. It’s not Carlie Irsay but I’ll be damned if I don’t appreciate this George redemption-arc. Give me this over Kevin Warren being a politician.

  6. Guy’s just a delightful goober. You can and should question a lot about him, but not his love of ball. Both NFL and youth baseball when he’s the ump.

  7. He’s nit the best owner, but at least he cares. I’m also a Cincinnati Reds fan and their owners couldn’t give a shit less about the team outside of how much $$$$ thay can extract from it.

  8. I know people throw a lot of shade his way, but he loves football and his team. He was out walking around a couple years ago at Family Day. He was quite chatty with everyone. We got a picture with him.

  9. George is a great dude and is at least smart enough to realize he isn’t a football guy so he finally went out and got people who are actually good at thier jobs to run things for him.

  10. Lots of good comments and anecdotes in this thread. Thanks for sharing, op. Made me tear up a little. It’s important that people are good humans. They don’t come along often.

  11. I don’t often say this about George, or any mccaskey, but here it is…..cool. It’s cool to see our owner not be robotic and show emotion.

  12. He’s a good dude, which is weird for a super rich professional sports team owner

  13. Its not a question of caring, fandom. and effort. Dude …. be a competent owner. Please. For the love of Da Bears, be competent.

  14. He gets so much flack… but George is genuinely just a huge fan of the team and tries to hire the right people in place to make them look good. There’s nothing wrong with that. Jerry Reinsdorf? That guy doesn’t give a rats ass about the Bulls or White Sox. He just collects money and lets the franchises struggle.

  15. I love this guy as an owner. Approaches life with no ego, treats the common man with respect, and did everything in his power to make this team successful.

  16. For all the criticism about ability as an owner and decision making, the league report card graded the McCaskeys as A or A- owners. So from the team themselves, they feel valued and heard which is so much more than a lot of teams can say.

  17. Growing up my buddy’s younger brother (17) at the time tried to buy tickets when they went on sale and every ticket got snatched up. So he wrote a letter to George. Couple weeks later George called. His mom hung up thinking it was a prank. George called back. Offered him 4 tickets in the end zone and lunch. We went to the game. Had an escort to our seats. Very cool experience and I’ll always defend the guy for something he didn’t have to do.

  18. It’s amazing what happens when you spend money on a good HC and not be a cheap skate George

  19. There are other team owners in Chicago who don’t give a rat’s ass about winning. Based on results, George is not what I’d call a good owner, but I do think he cares about winning. Not sure how much he cared in the past, though.

Almost feels like the sell the team chants got through to him.
