LOTS OF CANUCKS TALK: QUINN HUGHES UPDATE, KIEFER SHERWOOD TRADE, UNLUCKY NEWS FOR BRAEDEN COOTES
Ah, Sunday. It’s a brand new day, my friends, in the National Hockey League. And for the Vancouver Canucks, it’s a nice nice day to go out there and just kind of forget about everything that happened yesterday. Oh, no. I’m not talking about the Blue Jays. I’m talking about the fact that the Vancouver Conucks actually did play themselves a hockey game earlier yesterday against the Minnesota Wild. It was a fairly forgettable game, but I’ll admit I, like most of the people in my bubble here in Vancouver, were not really paying too much attention to the Conucks. They were talking about the Blue Jays instead. But now it’s a new day and we actually have ourselves some news to go over with this team, some talking points, and some little extra things as well. So, we’re going to be diving into Quinn Hughes, talking about the latest on Kefir Sherwood. Also giving a much needed update on Braden Coots because yeah, he’s still in the organization. Believe it or not, everybody’s been focused on the main team, but still there are some prospects that are cooking. Anyways, speaking about the main team, well, well, well, look, Hughes it is. Quinn Hughes has officially returned to Vancouver Conucks practice in Nashville. And this is not surprising. You know why this is not surprising that Vancouver Connect’s captain Quinn Hughes is back? It’s because earlier yesterday or excuse me, two days ago, there was this tweet posted on Twitter by Brandon D. Brandon I’m going to assume Damer, a goalie in the CVHL. He went out there and said this at Rick Dollywal at Thomas Drance at Satiar Shaw. My sister is on a flight to Minnesota from Vancouver this morning. And Quinn Hughes is on her flight. Possible return tomorrow night against the Minnesota Wild. And you’re looking at it here. That’s the back of some guy’s head. Looks like Quinn Hughes, but we don’t know for sure. Folks are going out there and saying, “Hey, wait a minute. What are you talking about? Your sister could be lying. Who knows? How can you know if that’s Hughes by the top of his head? Brandon then responds saying, “Ah, my sister was in line behind Hughes and walked past him to her seat.” And that is absolutely amazing. As Satiar Shaw goes out there and says, “Folks on Twitter literally tweeting out the whereabouts of Quinn Hughes on a flight over to Minnesota. He’s flying right there with the public, folks. He’s not using any Vancouver team chartered flight today or not today, but uh 3 days ago. So, reports were that Hughes joined the team in Minnesota. He wasn’t able to play, which is why he wasn’t playing yesterday. But now that he’s back in practice, I think we can assume that Hughes will probably join the team at some point here in Nashville. That was always potentially the plan as mentioned by guys like Rick Dollywal that even though Hughes didn’t join the team on the road trip at the beginning, he could have joined them later, which seems to be exactly what’s happening. We have some responses from Kucks fans on the Aran subreddit that are asking just kind of where this is going to go. Help us Quinn Hughes, you’re our only hope. There you go. May the fourth be with you junk 222. Hopefully Quinn plays like himself when he is back. He’s been meh so far by his standards. And yeah, he said by his standards, he’s definitely been a little bit meh. Somebody goes out there and disagrees. Oh, this is all just cope for when he’s going to inevitably leave. But then you have another reply saying, “No, he has been pretty poor. Bad passing decisions, not as confident in the power play, and he’s not producing at even strength. He’s my favorite player of all time, but we have to be real, lol. He’s been very poor by his standards, which is still a top pair defenseman in the league, but he’s a heartle player at his peak. That I can agree with. Quinn Hughes is one of the best players in the gosh darn league when he is at his best. He hasn’t been his best this season. Seven points in nine games. That might, you know, dissuade you a little bit. Oh, he’s actually doing okay. He’s producing. But really, you’ve been watching the games, if you’ve been seeing what he’s done in previous years, he was over a point per game by far in these prior campaigns. This year, he’s under and the on ice play reflects that. Now, speaking about Vancouver Conucks related stories, there was another tweet that I wanted to dive into here that was just kind of interesting. This was posted a few days ago by Jez, zero pucks given. He went out there and said a pretty controversial take, saying a lot of you need to hear this. The only wise endgame with Kucks forward Kefir Sherwood is to trade him. Someone will pay a significant price to acquire him at the deadline. He’s 31 in March. Extending him in Vancouver would be negligent. I love the guy. He’s a beauty, but our asset management needs to be better if we’re going to have sustainable success. If the team was closer to being a contender, extending him would make sense. And I’ve seen this argument pop up over the past few days, is extending Kefir Sherwood the right move. We already saw Rick Dollywal speaking about Vancouver’s reticence. They’re kind of scared. They don’t want to commit so much term and money to Kefir Sherwood only to have it blow up in their face like it did with Dakota Joshua a few years ago. He priced himself out of Vancouver because he was super good. Then he got the contract and then he wasn’t really great after. For Ke for Sherwood, I would probably beg to assume that he’ll be more consistent than Dakota Joshua. But still, if he’s looking at any sort of dollar amount over 5 million bucks, he’s 30 years old. He’ll be 31 at the end of the year. So maybe he goes for four or five years or something. I get that the cap is going up, but the question is, can he continue to be a guy who is on pace for 50 goals this season? Now, I don’t think he’s going to hit 50 goals. It’d be cool if he did, but still, Kefir Sherwood is one of these guys where the sample size probably isn’t big enough to fully commit the money that he could be wanting and the years, too. But if a team goes out there and says, “Hey, we kind of want this guy. let’s give you a first round pick and a prospect or whatever. Is that something that Alvine and Co should consider instead? You would assume that this move means that they will be going down a retool route rather than just keeping guys on that keep the team afloat for now. But you could also say that part of the thought process and keeping Sherwood is the same thought process that the Conucks had last year with Kevin Lankin. It’s an ever growing cycle of Vancouver Conucks related decisions that don’t seem to improve upon every subsequent decision. It’s just the same problems being caused over and over again. But shifting gears a little bit because I don’t really want to dive too deep into Sherwood trade talk or whatever. I wanted to go over Vancouver Conucks prospect Braden Coots who was in the WHL. Just kind of go over what he’s been doing. And the reason I wanted to talk about Coots is because he was actually included on the NHL’s best and worst team of the month for October. This is posted by Smash Bros 13. What he does is he takes the game score of all the players who played in October and accumulates the best team over here on the left and the best team over here on the right. I know it says best team. It should say worst team, but it’s the worst team of the month. You can see the guys that were dominating in the month of October, Coughfield, Suzuki, Larkin, Schmaltz, NASA, a lot of really positive game score guys. But in terms of the worst team of the month, yeah, Braden Coots was listed on it -4.68 as a game score for the month of October, which is good enough to be one of the worst forwards who played in the National Hockey League. And honestly, I think that game score is kind of harsh, but I do kind of understand where it’s coming from. Braden Coots wasn’t really effective in the NHL to start out his career here. Three games played, that was all it took for him to get sent down. The Canucks, honestly, like it’s weird. They started winning after Coots got sent down, but then they started getting hurt afterwards. So, that definitely wasn’t ideal. And we can’t dismiss what he did in the preeason and the training camp and why he was even selected to be on the Canucks opening night roster. the first 18-year-old to make the team since NedVED in the ’90s. It was a pretty big deal. But unfortunately, that success that Coots had in the preseason did not carry into the regular season, and he ended off his career stint in the NHL so far with zero points. Now, in the dub, Coots is at six points in six games, three goals, and three assists, which is a little bit worse than what he did last year, but still, he’s going back to a team where he needs to adjust to the system one more time. He’s had points in only three games so far. Three pointless games, but the other games he’s got six points in these ones. So, pretty good production, I’d say, out of Braden Coots. He have a three-point game, a two-point game, and a one-goal game against the Saskatoon Blades. But ultimately, Coots is in the dub doing his thing. Hopefully, he’s going to be able to improve and continue providing value for the Vancouver Conucks as the years go on. But I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about all these Conucks news and notes. What are your thoughts on Quinn Hughes returning? Thoughts on the idea of a kea Sherwood trade? And for Braden Coots, how he’s doing and his worst play of the month being included on the NHL’s list of worst players. It’s unfortunate, but hey, it’s there. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. I hope you enjoyed this vic9 and bye.

Sherwood getting traded after Quinn showing his elation that they signed him, makes zero sense. Just one more and more importantly, the worst hitter for Hughes to play against. The only way that happens is if management has already purchased Quinn's one way ticket out of Van.
Did quinn have a booster seat?
VVillander has been cooking for years 😅
