[The Athletic] The 2025 World Series was the first to feature all of this

All, or any?
it was an awesome series to watch 100%
Am I reading this wrong? It’s saying Yamamoto was the first to throw a complete game? Mathewson threw 10 himself. Every World Series until 1959 had at least one complete game
But nobody’s stole home
Joe Carter hit a walk off HR
It would have shocking if it was the second to feature all of this
This is really terrible wording.
With “a player to reach base nine times in one game,” which hasn’t happened in a world series before ever, you could literally list anything.
Why not say the first world series ever to reach game 5? The first world series ever to feature a stolen base? The first world series ever to feature a base hit?
Weird ass misleading post from The Athletic. Just post the unique only stuff from this World Series
Ok, since Freeman hit a walkoff homer last year, it seems the list is about the first WS to have all of those together. Which doesn’t make much sense, because you can cherry pick stuff on any WS and make them look like something special.
This is so obscure
Who made this horrible list full of untruths?
Clement setting the record for post season hits.
Also the first World Series to be played in October 2025 AND November 2025
Dodger fans enjoy the parade and remember 49.75 states plus one full country hate you 💖
Feels like The Athletic just discovered stats exist still, what a wild series though — every game had something historic.
But it ruined baseball according to everyone.
Wasn’t Yamamoto a winning pitcher for 3 games in WS alone? Isn’t that remarkable in itself?
Don’t forget the missed ball in game 3 by Freddie that Tommy gunned to 3rd, and the relay in that same game.
I’d be very surprised if no pitcher had ever thrown a complete game in the World Series previously. Highly doubt that one.
Nobody’s ever thrown a CG in the World Series before?
Clement left out in the dark on this list. Dude had a Series.
Most innings of any 7-game World Series.
1991 had 3 games in extra innings
Happy for Japan 🇯🇵
Best World Series ever, that was awesome. Hope Blue Jays @ Dodgers is the season opener for next year
A complete game? There have been 373 recorded complete games in the WS between 1903 and 1993. 🤷🏻♂️
Cherrypicked baseball stats strike again. Did you know that the 2026 World Series was the first ever series to be played in October 2026 featuring an AL and NL team wherein the AL team did not win the previous World Series? Pretty amazing stuff.
Definitely not the first complete game… Don Larsen pitched a perfect game in ’56.

Already looking forward to Spring Training.
Did they get their facts from Google ai?
Edit: Oh I guess i get it… horrible wording
Woulda been classic, wrong team won… now it’s just another mediocre team getting lucky
